"The Service I received throughout the hotel was excellent. The only criticism I can offer is that for the last two evening meals the Service was very slow. I did ask why this should be and was told they were very busy. This surprised me slightly as the hotel had received many cancellations due to the Corona Virus and I could not understand why the restaurant was so full when the pool area had been very empty during the day. The slow service was unusual. My room was lovely, a twin with own entrance hall off which were hanging wardrobes and drawers the full length and a door into a very nicely fitted bathroom with two basins in a vanity unit, a jacuzzi bath and a door into a W.C. with washing facility. My only critisism was that there was no towel and nowhere to hang one if taken in from the bathroom. Rhere were two flanels . From the hallway one entered the bedroom through a door. This room was beautifully presented with a double or twin beds, dressing table, easy chairs and TV. There was a private terrace. The hotel is nicely hidden away off the main street leading down to the beach. Without directions it was not easy to find which keeps it exclusive. This is a boutique hotel. In the Entrance Hall there is a reception area and shops and there is an inside lounge area adjoining an outside terrace with tables and seating where drinks from the bar are served also coffee and tea after dinner. The dining room is on the first floor and there is also an outside terrace area where dinner and breakfast are taken. The views over the beautiful pool area towards a backdrop of mountains is fabulous. Surrounding the pool are plenty of sun loungers for guests who like to sit in the sun and either swim or read. The area is served by a very well run pool service. There is a pool bar and restaurant serving lunch. On site there is also a Wellness Centre with Saunas, warm water pool, gymnasium and hairdresser"
"Your hotel was exactly what we needed to celebrate my Mum’s 80th birthday this year. Our room was beautiful and had a lovely view over the pool. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us. We loved the breakfast buffet, the barbecue and evening menus were superb, and all the waiters and chefs so attentive. Absolutely faultless. However, everyone went above and beyond to help us during the sandstorm that struck just as we were due to leave. I called from the airport when our flight was cancelled and your reception found us a room for 2 more nights until flights resumed. I can’t tell you how wonderful it felt to escape the chaos of the terminal to find ourselves back in your calm lobby where they brought us a cup of tea! You should be proud of every single staff member - they are all amazing. Thank you Jenny, Jeronimo, and Victor - to band but a few"
"We had booked to stay end March but could not travel due coronavirus. Last year we paid the hotel 8,000.00 Euros as a non-refundable booking (knowingly). When we could not travel the hotel refunded us in full, even though they had no obligation to do so, and they are facing times of terrible uncertainty. Big shout out to Marion Schmidt and her colleagues. When the crisis is over we will be staying with them, and thanking them personally."

"During this difficult time the Directors, Management and Staff demonstrated exceptional quality, service and professionalism to the end of our stay which was 1 day before the Hotel had to close. At this point the Hotel was less than 5% occupancy, a truly amazing staff attitude across the whole Hotel. We felt 100% safe and looked after the whole time. As previous visits, the Hotel continues to excel with regards operational service and quality. The Hotel Directors are always visible, hands on and happy to chat. The breakfast and evening meals, restaurant and bar service is high quality. Choice is varied with breakfast buffet and evening BBQ's a real treat! Pool and gardens are maintained to an excellent standard. The pool bar and lunch has an excellent ambience and again the menu is varied and high quality. Evening entertainment is varied and a very good standard, Our room was well maintained and serviced including an evening turn down service, towel change etc.... Our fellow guests are varied in terms of nationalities and we made some good acquaintances during our stay. Without question, this Hotel will remain high on our list of favourites and we will be back again next year."
"On the night of arrival we were given a welcome drink and a map of the hotel and left to fend for ourselves, no help or direction whatsoever! Rude waiter from the start at dinner. Breakfast, good choice but the food always cold. The waiter service was non existant, very surley male waiters, one nearly reducing me to tears, all I asked for was some cutlery. The female waiting staff were friendly. We stayed half board, the evening meals were not what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. You waited forever to be served, you waited forever for your food to arrive. The food choice was good but not for me being a vegetarian. The pool was okay, if you wanted a sunbed be prepared to get up extremely early to claim one! The pool waiting service was dreadful, it was quicker to walk to the bar. Be warned, this is extremely expensive, 6 G&T's, 4 bowls of ice cream, 178.00 euros. The evening entertainment was excrutiating. Bar staff are great, friendly and very efficient. The hotel room we stayed in was pool facing on the 6th floor. The view was fantastic, the hotel room was clean, well stocked with toiletries and comfortable. The cleaning staff were effiicient, nice touch turning down your bed in the evening and leaving a chocolate, checking your bathroom. We had a great time in Maspalomas but we would'nt recommend or visit this hotel again."
"relaxing as usual. fruit in breakfast not so fresh as usual during the first days. main swimming pool's bottom partially covered with mould, mainly in the corners and side steps. children were playing with cocroachs of the flower bed in the pool, it should be cleaned properly."

"We had a great room at the end of the hotel... facing the ocean... but from our balcony you overlooked the small beach at Mogan... idyllic! 5 days booked for some peace and quiet... not many kids (at first), small hotel, a little bit cramped by the pool.... but you can escape to roof top!!! The rooms are fine, beds a little firm for my liking... by day 5 I was ready for my own bed... Half board basisi but trust me... the food was great! Such choice in the evening, for hotel fayre it was great... as ever, we ate far too much! Breakfast was good too... the lack of a nighgtime bar is no real problem... the harbour has several to choose between. The noise level at the end of the week picked up because of families staying in the apartments... they can use the pool area.... and really the hotel isn't big enough for that... but it is what it is! It is in the best spot... facing the ocean, the beach or the marina.... but the best bit... well, the steps leading from the pool area straight into the ocean!!! Yes it was October... Yes the water was chilly... But YES, it was fabulous fun... went in at least half a dozen times every day... even in the rain!!! We keep checking the prices... it seems to be a,little dearer than last year, but if we can find some time not around kids holiday times we will be back!!!"
"We arrived with an other couple who we met on the courtesy bus from the airport. They went first to reception and had booked an apartment but were half board. They were immediately offered an upgrade to stay in the hotel and the guy on reception was telling them how much better it was than the apartments etc., etc., My turn now and I was just booked into my apartment, which in all fairness was nice, it was spacious, furnished nicely and clean. I knew before I booked there was a Juliet balcony and thought I wouldn't mind that, but, in hindsight, no I didn't like it and missed a full balcony. Mogan is lovely and have visited as a day visitor many times and must admit I won't stay again, not lively enough for me and by 10pm people are winding down which I found bizarre. There was no toaster in the room and considering we were self-catering I did miss this, but .,.. there was some bathroom scales in case you wanted to watch your weight! Bizarre. The safe, WiFi and air-con were all included and didn't need to pay separate for these as in some apartments I have stayed in. We checked out at 12 and the English lady on reception literally just took our key cards, nothing else was said, I would have expected, did you have a nice stay? or was everything to your satisfaction, I felt very devalued as when I was watching arrivals they were given warm towels to freshen up and glasses of juice, we got none of this! A beautiful place, a lovely apartment but lacking greatly in customer care and for that I cannot give it full marks."
"We have been to this hotel about 10 times. We love the hotel and puerto de Morgan, unfortunately we had to move this year because of lockdown. We re scheduled for September 2021. Which cost us more money but hope this does happen. We will enjoy the hotel even more. Can not wait to be back. The Taylor."

Urb. Las Meloneras s/n,Maspalomas, Meloneras, Canary Islands, Spain

"We stayed for 6 nights in a Family Room with garden and sea view on an All Inclusive basis. We were very impressed with the Covid regime within the hotel. Temperature checks every time entering the hotel or any of the restaurants and hand sanitiser everywhere. Plus the wearing of face masks is strictly policed. All staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable, modern and very clean. The food in the main buffet restaurant was typical of RIU. Breakfast was good with a large choice of hot and cold options. Dinner was disappointing, once again a large choice but uninspiring, cheap and tasteless food. Plenty of it to not be hungry but boring. Also the restaurant is more akin to a noisy canteen with the staff creating so much noise with the crashing of plates and cutlery as they clear tables. Wine and beer is self service, on tap. We booked for 2 specialty dinners in the Atlantic restaurant, Canary and Grill. The Canary buffet was ok but once again, uninspiring. The Grill buffet was not good at all, poor quality and limited choice so we ended up going back to the main buffet restaurant where there is more choice. The poolside snack food at Pepe’s Food was very poor, tasteless, dry burgers and hot dogs with no trimmings, chewy skewered meet and fries, and chicken nuggets akin to breaded pencil erasers! Overall the food is cheap, poor quality and tasteless but there is a lot of it. The Asian restaurant Kaori, which requires a reservation, featured the tastiest food and is a must to relieve the monotony of the main buffet restaurants. The service at the bars is quick, efficient and friendly. The main bar of an evening has limited seating so unless you get there early you have to stand if you want to see the live entertainment. The pools, gardens and terraces are spotlessly clean and well maintained. Social distancing rules are in place but this didn’t present any issues. The main adult pool area with the infinity pool is very busy with guests reserving the limited number of sun beds from very early on. The location of the hotel is very good with shops and Maspalomas beach approx 10 mins walk away. In spite of the poor quality food and uninspiring dining experience, we had a great holiday and would actually return to the hotel again."
"Riu Gran Canaria, what a superb place for a vacation in the sun with fun! Hotel is located at the seafront with plenty of bulevards around it. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby, all very good quality. Hotel is well maintained and comfy, a bit large area some might not like that but okay for us. All inclusive very good with varied foods and drinks. Book the specialty restaurants at your arrival especially would recommend Kaori. Water in pool a bit chilly in December. Our room was newly refurbished and very clean, view to the garden. A recommendable hotel!"
"The hotel is located on the seafront in Meloneras, in easy walking distance of all the classy shops and restaurants of Meloneras. It is an all inclusive hotel with branded drinks and 4 restaurants to choose from. Food great and staff friendly and very helpful. Plenty of sunbeds and plenty of space around them. I will definitely stay here again. Riu hotel standards are great and this one does not disappoint."

Avenida de los Marrero, 2,Playa de Mogán, La Playa de Mogan, Canary Islands, Spain

"We have recently enjoyed an eleven night stay at the Hotel Cordial Mogan Playa. The success of the hotel is partly attributable to its being in the delightful resort of Puerto De Mogan: it is a lovely location, and everything is so near at hand. We normally alternate quiet/lounging days with more active/get-out-and-about days. Such were the charms of the resort and hotel that we only ventured away once - catching the bus to Mogan village in order to tackle the wonderful hike from Mogan to Veneguera. Getting to be a bit text-dense, so: the hotel is very large, but beautifully set out (How do they design such places?!), so there is a great sense of peace, calm and space; the gardens richly deserve the praise they have received; we booked a Junior Suite - we loved the extra room, its position at the south/beach end, and being able to use the quieter dining room for breakfast (we were b and b); facilities, cleanliness and comfort are all top-notch; above all - and there are MANY other strengths I could praise - and as so many previous contributors have remarked, THE STAFF are unfailingly helpful, capable, friendly and cheerful. They make the place what it is. Improvements? None as far as the hotel is concerned. Guests-wise: a) shame on those who still appropriate sunbeds with the "towel process" - so unnecessary, as there are more than plenty, in lots of well-appointed poolside areas; b) I presume you are holiday and want to be in the hotel, so try to look a little happier. So many stern faces. Lighten up. Smiling is good. Follow the example of the staff! A fantastic holiday. Thank you."
"This was our first holiday to both Gran Canaria and the Hotel Cordial in Porto de Mogan and we can honestly say that this is the best hotel we have ever stayed in . It is simply stunning , when you enter the lobby there are plants everywhere and water falls inside , it's like being in the rain forest . The gardens outside are equally fabulous with a lake , bridge and waterfall plus lush plants and a stunning cactus garden. The staff are all very professional and friendly always smiling too . The whole hotel complex is super clean everywhere . The maids who tidy/clean the rooms each day are great . The hotel has two pools , one a quiet one so no children !! Access around the hotel is easy to as everywhere is flat and there is lift access throughout for the higher floors We were on a B and B basis and the choice for breakfast was just amazing , they had everything you could possibly want and all delicious . Plus there are lovely eating areas where you are surrounded by plants or overlooking the lake. Our room was lovely , spacious and with a terrace looking out on the cactus garden and the mountains , just stunning. There is quite a moorish feel to the architecture our room was in a small block with the rooms on the outside and gardens in the middle of the courtyard including a pond with fish and a fountain .The hotel is in a great location too as a gentle ten minute stroll and you are at the front of Porto which is a very pretty little resort and the little Venice area is just beautiful ."
"The last couple of days of our stay in this hotel coincided with the first two days of the Spanish coronavirus lockdown. As incoming flights were cancelled, the number of guests dwindled over the week until very few were left by the time we flew home (as scheduled, thanks to Jet2). The hotel is enormous and, I would say, far too large at busy times. The rooms are a good size and the hotel grounds are extensive and beautifully landscaped with an interesting archeological site. Everything was very clean and there were 2 large hand sanitisers at the entrance to the restaurant and at various other points (all of which were well-used) even before the lockdown. Service in the main restaurant, the poolside cafe and the bar was very good. The buffet breakfast offered an array of international choices and was very good. We found the evening buffet less good but were very grateful that it was available at the end of the holiday when we were not allowed out due to the lockdown (and no other restaurants were open anyway). I can't comment on the pool as we never used it but it fitted in well with the other landscaping and seemed to be very clean and popular with other guests who were looking for a poolside holiday. I would like to praise all of the staff for the way that they kept working and providing a good service at a difficult and worrying time for them. We appreciated their hard work and their friendliness and hope to be able to return one day."

Mar Mediterráneo 7, Meloneras, Canary Islands, Spain

"Lopesan did everything to still let you enjoy a safe and careless holiday during Covid-19 times. Unfortunately we had to leave 3days earlier than foreseen because Belgium changed Spain with exception to Tenerife to code red. I really do not understand why. Not once did I think I would get infected. I felt much much safer there then in Belgium and Lopesan really is responsible for a big part of that. Hand gel present behind every corner and in every elevator for after you touch the buttons. As you get up from your sunbed or table at the bar it completely gets desinfected and they put a sticker on it to let the next person know it is safe to use Food is still in buffet form, but you can either take a prepared plate or ask the cooks, staff to serve you. They will then hand you the plate. I just thought I had to mention this first in these times! Now for the room and hotel itsef, I really cannot think of any negative points! As always Lopesan provides great services and we will definately come back to Lopesan hotels. We had booked our 4th stay in the Costa Meloneras Resort and because this hotel remains closed until 2021 due to big renovations, we were rebooked in a junior suite at Villa del Conde and enjoyed every minute of it. If I do have to give 1 remark, it would be that the evening shows feel more 3star hotel worthy. But that is not why we go on holiday. Might be the case for other people. Next year we will definately book a Lopesan hotel again!"
"Beautiful hotel, nicely designed and the staff were a delight. We had a standard double (not the economy double) and the room was spacious and well located, overlooking well kept gardens. The pools were many and again set in well kept gardens - sunbeds a plenty! The views to the ocean were fabulous. But.... hot food at breakfast was not hot, it could barely be described as warm. Who eats Luke warm bacon, egg and beans? We didn’t eat other meals at the hotel. We asked for a kettle for the room (they don’t have them in the rooms), this was provided but when we asked for a cup/mug we were told room service would need to bring this and they’d charge €5 for delivery! We bought one at the supermarket for €2. So it may be worth packing one if you like a hot drink in your room. The tiles in the pool need attention with many missing, and the fountains in the large pools never worked the whole time we were there (10 days). Twice we returned to find our room cleaned but no new loo roll, leaving us with insufficient paper and the need to contact reception - it seemed toilet paper is rationed. The final hurdle was the bill - the hotel pre-charged our credit card for €400 and you then simply tap your room card when buying drinks, snacks and meals that are not already included - fortunately our bill arrived via email just before we left the hotel and we found it had meals and drinks on it that we hadn’t had (hubby is a fussy eater and the hotel didn’t sell the type of food he’d eat), the reception were disbelieving and made calls to the lunch restaurant to check we hadn’t eaten there and then had the audacity to come off the call and ask if I was sure? They refunded the €81 costs (Far more than any lunch would cost for the two of us) but if you choose to visit the hotel you need to push for them to demand a signature or identification for anything added to the bill, if not you may find yourself funding someone else’s holiday. I’d visit again, but would need assurances regarding the billing arrangements and maybe take my own microwave to warm up the luke warm breakfast food 😂"
"We stayed here for 10 nights in an apartment that overlooked the grounds and out to sea. The apartment was spacious with balcony. A walk-in wardrobe and roomy bathroom added to the feeling of space. The room was well serviced during our stay. Considering soft bathrobes were provided it was a pity the towels didn’t match this quality of softness. The grounds are well laid out with plenty of sun loungers and several pools.Beach type towels are provided. These were soft! A village type ambience is created with the design of the different styles of buildings, especially the plaza area. The grounds delightful and well maintained. The dining facilities consist of 2 buffet restaurants, given the time of the season only 1 of these was opened. There is an a la carte restaurant which provides food for extra charge over half board. The buffet food is varied and plentiful, catering for the range of palates of residents. Quality of some of the cooked food was variable. Understandable given the need to cater for the numbers waiting. All the staff we encountered were very approachable, friendly and helpful making the stay that much more enjoyable. Please note many of the rooms are in the main hotel block and do not have the outlook or spaciousness that has been described. Also, the Lopesan chain operates the concept of ‘ unique’ guests with separate areas etc. set aside for such extra paying guests. ( The hotel closed the day we were leaving with remaining guests being transferred to another hotel in the chain. Hoping for brighter times! ) "

"We picked this hotel because of the location. You can walk out of the back gate onto the promenade which takes you along the coast to the next town. We decided not to go half board as there are so many bars and restaurants just by the hotel and it is nice to try them out. Breakfast was included and was brilliant. The staff serving were attentive, quick to serve and really friendly. There was a great choice and it varied slightly each day. Check in was slow and painful- we were a day late because of the sandstorms and were told we had to wait until 3pm to check in !!! It took 45 minutes to check in because they could not find our TUI booking. The rooms are really clean, large and very modern. As per previous reviews it seems ridiculous they want to charge you for a safe and do not give you water when it is 5 star. The shower was the best of any hotel I have been to for ages. The pool areas are great -clean, lots of space, comfy beds and most importantly there is no need to get up early to hog a sun-bed are plenty. If you turn left outside the hotel you can walk along the beach to Playa Ingles- it is 3 miles each way and a great walk. If you do not want to walk back there are loads of buses and t costs 1 .4 Euros and the bus station is on the roundabout by the hotel. Overall glad we stayed here -after the initial problem the rest of the week was great. Check out is at 11am- and easy to leave your luggage in storage and they offer a courtesy room without the need to book a time so much better than paying to keep it for the sake of a a shower."
"We enjoyed a week in a swim-up room at this really nice hotel and actually tried to extend our stay (unfortunately our room category was booked out). The location, right at the beach and few minutes from the shops along the beach promenade or town, couldn't be better! The overall hotel, our room and facilities were in good shape and housekeeping did a good job. We had half board and there was a good selection of food for breakfast and dinner. While buffet food is never quite on the spot, RIU Oasis does better than most comparable places. The hotel also has two themed restaurants with set menus which were excellent, although the hotel should think about making these adult-only to maintain a more quiet and upscale dining experience. All services are very well organised and staff is personable, attentive and do a really great job. Actually one of the few places we always felt welcome and comfortable! Prices for drinks were fair, but a happy hour at the bar wouldn't hurt. Now what really set this hotel apart from the competition is their way of handling the Covid crisis! Due to travel restrictions we couldn't come back and visited another country four weeks after the RIU Oasis, which made differences more apparent. I admire how all the staff, at all times, wore their masks (correctly!). Guests wore masks in the communal areas such as the buffet. We could watch one of the main pools from our room and it was impressive how thoroughly staff was disinfecting and cleaning the facilities. Great job! Overall we felt much saver on the island and in the hotel than at home! Hopefully Gran Canaria will get the new corona wave under control quickly, because we'd love to come back to the island and the RIU Palace Oasis soon!"
"My 3 rd visit to the oasis so must be good my partner has been more. Great location friendly staff what more do you want. We were unfortunate to only have one week of normal things and second week we were in lock down what we would have done if we didn't have the amazing gardens to walk round. Special thanks to the amazing gardening team you do a grand job. Even so the staff still did a great job of coping with the unknown restrictions. We were told we would have to move on the Wednesday to another hotel but this was cancelled a few hours later but then had to move 2 days later. Thank goodness it was for only 1 night because it didn't compare with the oasis. Would love to visit again whether we can find the finance to cover the cost as we think it's expensive when you don't even get any water supplied with dinner or in the room or coffee after dinner. Didn't rate the entrainment either."

"We have just returned from a weeks holiday as a young couple with our 8 month old baby. We booked this as a last minute deal and got a good deal. I would certainly return again if the price was right. On arrival we had a speedy check in and got a room that met with our email request- a bright, quiet room on a high floor. The room was huge even with a buggy and cot in it and perfect for us. It was lovely and bright, clean and plenty of storage. Beds were comfy and we did not once hear any noise. Food was great, our baby ate like a king for the week and loved trying lots of new food. The stokke highchairs in the dining room were great and always clean. We didnt tire of the food and found plenty of choice for the 3 of us. The food was always warm and importantly it had taste. The 6pm oepning time was perfect for our family and popular with all who had kids wanting to go the mini disco. Pools were super with loads of sunbeds in sunny and shaded spots to choose from. We were not once told off for any inflatables in the pools and found the water warm enough for a baby. The pool towels in your room were welcomed. Location is good, lots of upmarket shops about and close to the beach. The hotel is big but we had no issue finding our way about. We were given a map on check in and within a day knew our way about. We loved going walks with the buggy around the hotel pools. If you dont like kids, babies or pregnant woman then this is not the hotel for you. There were lots of families and it was a friendly atmosphere. The kids pools are located within a gated village where the kids club is perfect if you had a toddler. The mini disco is also very good with a mascot which the kids love. The staff were all so welcoming and our baby loved the attention from them. We were unlucky to have our holiday disrupted by Covid-19 but found the hotel to be ever so professional. We were kept in the loop of changes with letters posted through room door and found the hotel to be doing everything they could. On the night before the lockdown the mascot was unable to come to the mini disco so instead all the kids were given a stuffed toy, a lovely touch which was appreciated. We hope to return in the future and thanks for a great holiday. Our only small suggestions to improve would be new towels in the rooms, some we had were past their best and the turn down service could be a bit later as the maid was always trying to get in when we were showering."
"My husband and I have travelled the world to some beautiful places, but I have never stayed at a hotel so beautiful and outstandong as this! It is breathtaking, the layout, the decor, the sheer size and the service. Every member of staff you meet has a smile and a hello, from the cleaner to the front desk, the food is amazing, so clean everywhere, 7 pools!! The African feel is second to none, even animal noises being played! The food was lovely, always fresh, and a big variety. We were unfortunately here during lockdown of Covid19, how the hotel manged the situation was spot on and very professional...Cannot wait to return."
"I want to thank all the staff at the hotel for doing an outstanding job during our stay last week. Although we weren't allowed to leave the hotel (except to go to the shop) and the pools had to close due to COVID-19, the staff continued to be friendly and professional and offer a first class service. The food was outstanding and the hotel spotlessly clean. Really looking forward to returning and having a 'normal' holiday at this outstanding place."
