"First - the good.: The location is right in the middle of about 15 or so assorted bars and restaurants. You don't have to walk more than two blocks for anything. The room had a REAL coffee maker with REAL coffee - quite a change from the usual. The bath towels were better than mine at home, quite a difference from the usual hotel towels. The bed was very comfortable, but I wish I had brought my pillow - but that is normal. The bad: The room did not have one of the stated amenities - the microwave. I did not need it, but it is listed. It is impossible to leave the toilet seat up - it fell while I was using the toilet and had to be held up during subsequent trips. I know, this IS Madison, WI, but why did you not list Fox News Channel in your channel lineup? It is available; I know as I found it along with many others not listed. The Ugly: The large cabinet in the room had drawer pulls entirely missing and there was a large cobweb near the desk - within three inches of the lit lamp. Now, to the two things I did not know about when I booked through Hotels.com: There is NO manned front desk. You basically check yourself in and out and, if something runs out - like the facial tissue did - where do you get more? Also not mentioned when I booked was the parking situation. You either pay $15.00 a night for one of two available parking spots in a lot a block away, or you pay an exorbitant amount in public parking farther away. Also, the windows had frosted glass. Don't know if there was any view, as you could not see through the windows. Altogether a quirky little place. Not very expensive and in a great location but with some very obvious flaws. Would I stay there again? I think not."
"The room was amazing, very clean and loved the themed art and murals. Checking in and out was super easy. We parked in the lot a few blocks away which was just fine ($8). We also got lucky and got a complimentary upgrade upon arrival which was an added bonus! The location was also perfect allowed us to easily walk everywhere we wanted. My boyfriend booked this on a whim after i mentioned we might need to spend the night somewhere between Chicago and our destination in the UP, i was slightly skeptical when i saw the pictures but i couldn’t recommend more highly!!! "We stayed in the "Wife of Bath" room and it was very large and comfortable. The bed was superb, too. Plenty of room to relax. It seemed like we were the only guests, so it was very quiet. Complaints on other sites of noise from the downstairs bar did NOT materialize. We had almost zero noise at all, regardless of hour. The hosts were attentive and we had no trouble with check-in or check-out. Good value, too, for a great location."
