"We stayed here for a 3 night break. We were initially given room 122, and were horrified to find that the only window had obscured glass. The window only opened by around an inch, and all we could see through the small gap was scaffolding, due to the ongoing building work. We went straight to reception to ask for another room and were told that the hotel was full. However, by around 9pm on the first evening, we received a phone call from reception to say that we could move rooms. This time, we were given room 102, which had a lovely floor to ceiling window and was on the front of the hotel. We were very grateful that the reception team could resolve the problem so quickly. The rest of our stay here went well. The room was typical of a Premier Inn, with clean modern bathroom and comfy bed. The Brewers Fayre next door was great for breakfast. The location is great, close to town and a few minutes from the cliff lift down to beach level. There is a car park over the road which charges £10 a day, very secure and locked overnight. Overall, we enjoyed our stay."
"Stayed here for one night as our Caravan holiday had been cancelled due to COVID. We had room 221 which on first impressions hadn't been cleaned even to normal standards never mind “premier inn clean protect” dust, stains in the loo. The floor boards were a joke in ours and other rooms if it wasn't us making noise it was the floor above, no fault of theirs but keeps you awake. We were out most of the day after checking in so when we got back put our son to sleep and got into the bed which was extremely creaky. So between the floorboards and the bed got no sleep which is a nightmare when your supposed to enjoy your night away with family. Went for breakfast the next morning in the hotel bar and got seated here (pics attached if you zoom in you can see the dust where the lamp is WHATS THE KITCHEN LIKE!) its ROTTEN thick of dust, table was still sticky. Got two breakfasts £18 which were swamped in grease, overcooked and my fiancés had a hair in. I had eaten a quater of mine and she hadn't touched hers after finding the hair. I asked for a refund and was told I could only have the breakfast replaced. When I was checking out I was not asked if enjoyed my stay and there was a que behind me so didn't want to stand there and mention all of the above. I rang premier in to complain and I was told because I didn't highlight these issues at the time, bearing in mind I didn't find out about the creaky bed until I got into it at 10 o'clock and my son was already asleep. The good night guarantee didn't stand and as a good will gesture for the breakfast I was offered a voucher for a Brewers Fair. To be honest I would never out of choice go to a Brewers Fair especially after that experience. It states on there website that you have 7 days to complain which I have done, to be honest it shouldn't be up to me to tell them that their bed is broken and the floor boards are ridiculously loud. They are things which shouldn't be like that for guests arriving to enjoy there stay not spend there time at reception complaining. Wont use this hotel again will try one of the nearby hotels instead."
"Just back from a 3 night stay, location was great for us,car park across the street which is free after 6pm & always plenty of room, shops literally around the corner, train station about 5 mins walk, seafront about 5-10 mins or you can use the Victorian tram next to the grand hotel only £1.20 each way if you can't do the hills. All the staff in premier inn & brewers fayre were always friendly & smiling, hotel & restaurant were always clean, our room was spotless & we are definitely coming back for another stay."
