"Ultima Gstaad is the definition of luxury - this hotel is not just 5 stars, it's a feeling, it's a state of mind, it's a true escape! We had the most incredible time during our stay at this hotel, from drinking champagne in our own private jacuzzi to feasting on fine dining every evening on delicious dishes and hand crafted chocolates by the chef. The hotel is equipped with everything you need for a luxury break, an in house cinema, a shisha bar, and a beautiful spa! This hotel offers a unique decor with beautiful art pieces adorning the walls and a very quirky Monopoly designed piano in the lobby. If you are a big art lover like me then you will be constantly wowed! We stayed in the 3 bed residence, which is another level of luxury in itself! Katarina, who was on front of house during our stay was a true delight to meet! She is an asset to Ultima Gstaad, as are all the staff who were always friendly and professional. Nothing was too much trouble! I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel, it is out of this world! You will not regret it!!"
"We were two friends going to Gstaad for a couple of days hiking and could not have had a better experience at the Ultima! Our suite was cozy and had everything you could ask for, including fire place and wrap-around balcony. We went at the end of July and the balcony was our preferred seating area. In winter, we might have missed a "living-room" in the suite, but then there are the residences which I assume will tick that box. Staff was extraordinarily helpful and perfect in every way! Great care was taken with respect to COVID-19, and yet never felt invasive. Breakfast was a highlight, no buffet - an advantage in my personal opinion - beautifully presented and of high quality for the dishes we had a chance to sample. Dinner too was a delight. Small menu but perfectly executed. The spa is stunning and treatments outstanding! We did not use the cinema but readers might wish to know it exists, complete with popcorn. I will go back at first opportunity, any season!"
"We stayed at the Ultima shortly after the full lockdown in Switzerland was lifted, so not all the facilities were open. The bar and restaurant were closed. Nevertheless, they did a great job. We had the Signature Suite, which was fabulous. The rotating TV was particularly cool. Despite the restaurant being closed, they were able to organize a very nice continental breakfast, and the staff was terrific. The spa was beautiful, with an outdoor jacuzzi. It's more intimate than some of the other 5 star hotels, and it's the only one open all year round."

"I am a little late in reviewing (it’s been a busy year). We stayed here for our 60th birthday celebrations in March and we could not have asked for more. This hotel is wonderful. Perfectly placed with excellent views, our room looked over Gstaad and down to the village of Saanan. The room was spacious, comfortable and warm. Every member of staff in the hotel were kind and helpful people, who were happy to discuss Swiss life with us and make recommendations for local walks and events. For a steady walker, the hotel is approx 15 minutes walk down hill to the centre, we walked down everyday but utilised the shuttle bus to return as the walk is quite steep. There is an excellent walk along the river toward Saanen, about an hours walk, where you then have the option, if you wish of catching the train back. Great times In a wonderful, hotel, where we met some equally wonderful members of staff and it is area we will return to soon."
"We stayed for three nights at this lovely hotel and really we had a very wonderful stay. Everything was perfect from the moment we stepped in this chalet style hotel which has a wonderful location. The room was spacious and clean with beautiful modern bathroom. Views from the balcony and the terrace are stunning. Good breakfast with selective varieties. The entire Staff of the hotel are very friendly, helpful, caring, professional and looking after each details to ensure comfort for each guest. The hotel is wonderful in all aspects & excellent value for money, definitely will return back"
"The hotel has a lovely location overlooking the hills and meadows, where the air is very fresh. The rooms are cosy, traditional, spacious and clean. Most significantly, Carole at the reception has been most helpful and hospitable, with full of dedication and dynamism in her work. It was a very pleasant and enjoyable visit!"

"Hubby and I spent two nights at Hotel Cailler this month while we were hiking across Switzerland. Our expectations weren't particularly high given various reviews we had seen on different platforms, but still a little disappointing given the price point of the rooms. The biggest issue we had was with the room. There were not outlets near enough to the bed to use, which is supposed to be a requirement of a 3 or 4 star hotel in Switzerland. The only 2 outlets in the room were in awkward places and hard to work with. And while the bathroom is newly renovated there is no fan, so it took at least an hour to clear out after a shower or other use. The furniture was a little tired, and the desk leg was cracked and wobbled more than a little bit. On the positive side access to the baths was wonderful, so easy to walk through the tunnel in a robe and slippers. The breakfast was the best one we had during the 3 weeks we spent hiking, wish we always had that many options. Chocolate and Meringues in the room upon check in was a nice touch. Our room was quiet, we were able to sleep with the windows open when it was a touch warm. Service was mixed, a couple people at the front desk were friendly while one was downright rude. Ate at both restaurants, and while they were adequate we felt the value at The Bistro was a little better than at Saisons. Glad we had a chance to try both, as it was some of the better food we had during our trip. Overall a good experience and glad we stayed once, but don't need to do it again."
"We had such a lovely stay here. Our room was huge with a great view and balcony. The breakfasts are incredible - cooked food, local specialities, cereal, fruit, pastries...and great coffee. The location is beautiful and there are some great hikes and castles nearby. The spa and baths are fabulous and can be reached via an underground passageway from the hotel. The hotel provides bathrobes and towels for the baths. The baths themselves have a big outdoor pool overlooking the mountains, a couple of large indoor pools, saunas, steam rooms etc. "
"We stayed in rm 108, which was directly over the front door, so at night, when the night owl people want to stay up and talk and laugh, we had a problem sleeping, but that is because there are rude people in the world and no fault of the hotel. check in was easy and the food great. staff were friendly and helpful. we went during the heat wave and they have no air conditioning, but they gave us a fan, which helped."

"I stayed at Arc-en-ciel on my recent visit to Gstad and this hotel has been nothing less than a home away from home for me. I have never experienced such considerate hospitality anywhere in the world. The location of the hotel is just perfect with a view that you will cherish all your life. It is surrounded by hills that you can hike easily. The rooms are spacious, clean and tidy. Their restaurant has been an experience in itself for me. The food is delicious and they did cater to my requests for all the meals that I have had here. The best part about this Arc-en-ciel is their every so warm staff that ensured that everything was taken care of for me. The staff has been extremely caring, polite, warm and great hosts. This is the finest places I’ve stayed in and will visit Gstad only to stay here and feel like home. A big Thank you to the Matti family for making this a special place for me."
"We had an amazing stay in this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, our attic room was beautiful and cozy with a view on the mountains and a fireplace. Breakfast was good and we also ordered pizza to our room in the evening from the hotel’s restaurant, perfection! The location was great with the Eggli ski lift just 2 min walk away from the hotel and town center 7 min away. Definitely coming back!"
"Excellent hospitality for all the workers!! More clean than you imagine! The restaurant has the best pizza in Gstaad!! The catalog for food generally and wine list gives you a lot of choices!! The manager of the restaurant is more than awesome!! Thank you for making my Christmas holidays more good than I expected!!🎄🎄🎄⛄️"

"This old hotel is located a bit outside of Les Diablerets but it is possible to walk to the village. It takes about 20 minutes and on the way there about 15 minutes walk from the hotel is a large Coop supermarket. There are two train station stops ahead of Les Diablerets, both of which are possible to get off to reach the hotel. It takes about 10 minutes. In the surroundings there are farmhouses and fields. The hotel is a classic old wooden house with a nice terrace overlooking the mountains. The ground floor has a restaurant / breakfast room and a large lounge with armchairs and sofas. We stayed in the room number 1, upstairs, which has a nice balcony with mountain views. The room is beautiful with wooden floors and rustic furniture. The room has no air conditioning or safety box but there is a TV and wifi is free and works well. The bathroom sink is inside the room. The toilet is a separate room en suite the room and had a window while the shower is a walk-in shower located inside the room. Everything was clean and tidy. The bed was good and we slept well. Please note that there may be no staff present before 16 o'clock which is the earliest check-in. Check-out is no later than 11 am. The breakfast was a very good smaller buffet. Above all, we liked that there were two kinds of gruyere cheese. The coffee machine is quite complicated but you get help from the staff in how to use it. The yogurt comes from local farms and it is possible to cook eggs yourself. Breakfast is served between 8:30 and 10:30. The hotel also serves dinner for CHF 45 if you tell them in the morning that you want it, however we did not try this. Otherwise, it seems possible to buy both alcohol and snacks in the evening. The owner is very nice and gave us good tips in the area. He also helped u sto the station on the day of departure. The hotel has a warm homely atmosphere and is beautifully renovated although the house is historic and old. It is a place where you go for peace, quiet and silence."
"I recently stayed a night here after hiking in the col du pillon region. The host Francis and his family make both me and my dog :-) feel very welcome. It is an historical hotel but the rooms have been renovated and have everything you need. I recommend a superior double with balcony as you lovely views of the mountains as well as being able to see both the sunrise and sunset. However what really made this stay special was that the level of hospitality shown by the family went far above and beyond what i expected. So thank you for a very pleasant overnight stay."
"This hotel is a beautifully located and serene place to stay, high up in the Alps, just 10 minutes walk from the village of Les Diablerets. I had a great balcony room, with a wonderful view of the mountains opposite - it was very nice to see the mist coming down the mountain in the evening. There is beautiful scenery to be seen on the journey on the train from Aigle up to the village. My room was very spacious, with everything you could need. I would highly recommend this hotel."

"As frequently, I find the assessment scale at Tripadvisor inappropriate: there should be a mark between "average" and "very good"! As for the Bellerive, our room, looking southward with balcony, was great (supposedly "superior" category), no complaints there, neither as regards the "facilities" or the breakfast buffet the next morning. What I find a bit irritating is the restaurant (and bar) service: we came to Gstaad for a concert at the summer music festival and decided to have a bite to eat before the concert (between 6 and 7); well, the menu was extremely limited, and later, after the concert (c. 10:15 - 10:30), the place had shut down, not even a beer was to be had, not to mention kitchen service (the minibar in our room did come in handy). I think a Swiss (meaning you pay through your nose) four-star hotel should do better."
"Nice clean spacious rooms with balconies that give you a nice view. Staff was nice and the check in was smooth. However given the location and the weather around here I would recommend this place if you have a car otherwise it would be a long cold walk to Gstaad city center which can be unpleasant. In terms of value for money it is good. I really liked the hospitality of the young receptionist not so much of the older one. It counts to be friendly to a traveller. Breakfast served was limited but again the same young lady did as much as she could. Housekeeping lady was also very accommodating. All in all nice clean place would recommend to anyone just bring a car along "
"Amazingly located hotel just outside Gstaad Village. Away from the bustle of tourists yet close enough to walk over. Mum and Daughter are very professional and to the point. Check in was quick and easy. They serve an amazing tomato soup. Breakfast is good enough. All in all, a pleasant experience."

"We spend one night at the hotel while hiking across Switzerland, and while the location of the property was excellent were were disappointed in our room. Shortly after we checked in I went to use the bathroom, and it smelled like a backed-up sewer. The smell filtered into our room if we left the door open, and was extremely unpleasant. Left the windows open until it got too cold, and that still didn't air it out. Thought about requesting a room change, but we were all unpacked and only spending one night at the property. The beds were on the short side - my 6'2 hubby had to sleep sideways as his feet hit the end. Bedding was nice and new, and it was a pleasant change to have more than one pillow to choose from. Refrigerator in the room was a plus, but we missed having a chair or desk or other place to sit. Hotel breakfast was not worth the $20 per person we paid, but other breakfast options are limited as there aren't any bakeries along the small main Street. Just not a ton of options, although the coffee and croissants were some of the best we have had during our 3 weeks of hiking. Overall an ok property, but don't think I would stay there again if we find ourselves in Gruyeres."
"Unforgettable. I would strongly recommend you to stay in this hotel either for a night or for a longer period It is one of the rare hotels, which provides you really nice service, creating a very friendly atmosphere and feel that you are at home. Very cleaned. Tasty breakfast (I would recommend you to take it). The big benefit is to get the opportunity during your meal to enjoy an amazing panoramic view of the mountains from the restaurant. The hotel locates in the center of the old town. The friendly and professional staff will help you and create an enjoyable and relaxing environment for you"
"We were invited to a wedding which took place in the hotel. The room was clean and had a retro look. The location was perfect next. The staff was extremely accommodating, in particular Tom and Odin, and they helped make the wedding an unforgettable experience. As a vegetarian, I was pleased to be served during the dinner quinoa and risotto with non-dairy milk."

"On the positive side there are absolutely no complaints about the cleanliness of the hotel. Nicely located, and nice terrace area. The manager was at pains to appear friendly, and this was reflected in most of the staff. The quality of the food was excellent. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate. Sadly the bar experience left a lot to be desired. It really isn't difficult to make a gin&tonic, and whilst an Aperol Spritz is a little more complicated, it proved beyond the bar staff to serve them consistently as expected. Whilst acknowledging that the food was good, the menu was such that it was difficult to find enough variation for a whole week. As such, we have up half board 3 nights out of 7 just to get a bit of variety. It was also difficult to understand the price politics of 'a la carte' versus half board (there was no separate half board menu, as would be expected). E.g.some courses on the menu that cost more than others didn't carry a surcharge, whilst the cheaper one did. On the subject of extra charges, can you believe they charge an extra CHF10 for a bathrobe! This when charging CHF 330 a night for the room. Oh, and make sure you don't lose a plastic key card, as that will set you back CHF20."
"This was our 6th hiking trip in the alps where the Spitzhorn provided a nice stay. The staff were all very friendly and did their best to take care of us even when overwhelmed. We had a junior suite which seemed to be just slightly bigger than a standard room. The balcony was huge with a great view, but only contained a small table and chairs, no lounger. At the price point, 330 USD per night, I did expect a little more in room amenities like coffee and bath robes. The bed was very comfortable though and the shower had excellent water pressure. Bring your own toiletries because house keeping never replaced the one little bar of soap. The hotel seems to cater to families over couples with the small pool always busy with kids. We had trouble sleeping one night as well due to kids running around in the room above us until all hours of the night. The location of the hotel is ideal for a hiking base and the small town across the roundabout is super quaint. "
"I stayed here the other week for two nights for my short visit to Gstaad. This hotel was amazing!!! From the moment they picked me up at the train station to the moment I left everything was grand. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff are so friendly and warm and nice. The food was great. The breakfast was awesome. My room was perfect and the bed super comfortable. I would absolutely stay here again. Five stars all the way for much better prices than you will find in the heart of flashy Gstaad. "
