Reviews From Real Travelers
Location – perfect – right on a side street (Rue Vasselot and Rue Marshall Joffe) for easy access and the pedestrian area adjacent to the medieval city center areas. Very easy walk to everything. Quiet because two sides are non-street facing. Hotel – this is a very nice, upscale hotel with a “trying too hard but missing” décor style. The strengths are the location and the staff, who are consistently professional, polite, helpful, and personable. Parking is valet only at E 25/day. Breakfast is E 25 per person. Rooms – I found this a very difficult room situation. We booked the nicest, largest suite in the hotel on the top floor yet it was extremely frustrating to stay in for several days because everything (layout, décor, lighting, furniture) focused on “look” (perhaps?) over function and ease of use. I would not stay in this room again. Layout, Décor, & Furniture – the space was not well used. The entry was a short hallway with a half wall on the other side of which was the bedroom. The hallway space was not large enough to put a suitcase. A positive was the built-in closets with hanging space, shelves, and drawers – this was incredibly useful and helpful, although the lighting was dim. The room was extremely cluttered with mismatched furniture and very little available floorspace. At the end of the little half hallway was a very strange loveseat sized couch which had a very low seat and a strange tree stump “table” which was uneven and thus could not be used as a table. This little couch was not in sight of a window or the TV so was not useful for anything other than putting on your shoes. The bed was similarly low to the floor, so it was hard to sit on it. There was a round table and one chair, and floor lamps that had a tripod of legs which stuck out into the floor ready for you to trip on. We moved these as close as possible to the wall to try to get some space. There are no luggage racks so we asked for them; thankfully we got two and had to maneuver a way to place them so we could access the suitcase. There were way too many little knickknacks on the little available surface space; we moved them to get some space. Positives are the refrigerator and all the built-in shelving. The carpet was extremely well worn and very dark gray, making the room look even smaller than it is. The walls were also very dark gray and the lighting was extremely dim so the room was very dark and depressing to be in. Lamps were mismatched, eclectic, and dim. There was a very large deck (positive) that was incredibly cluttered with very heavy (could not move them) wood furniture and planters (negative) so it was very difficult to use the deck other than to sit in the chairs where they are. That said, having the deck was wonderful to be out in the light with extensive views over the east side of the city. The bathroom was more brightly lit, with good walk in shower water pressure and good towels. However, water floods the floor. There is

Great for a business stay. The remodeled rooms are small for a couple on vacation. The sliding closet door is very inconvenient for a couple. House keeping and the front desk and the bar, restaurant were great. The vibe of the hotel is alot less relaxed and welcoming than I remember from my past visits.

There's a short walk from railway station to this hotel, and again a short walk from the hotel to tje old town or to most of the places on central Rennes. We had a beautiful, modern, clean and well-equipped room on 8th floor with a very nice view. Service at the reception is excellent and the breakfast exceeded all expectations. There's a nice little spa in the hotel and one hour visit to the was included to our room price. Quiet and tranquil. The lobby area is beautiful with a lot of greenery and nice decor.

We stayed as a family in early August. The hotel was stylish, comfortable and well located for shopping and sightseeing. The spa was cosy and welcoming. The staff were friendly, dedicated and unbelievably helpful both during and after our stay. For example, the team located a bag my daughter left behind and arranged for it’s safe return to the U.K. We really enjoyed our trip and cannot recommend the staff highly enough.

Spent 2 nights there in a standard double room. It was larger than expected, clean and modern. The bed was wide and comfortable. Good selection of pillows too. Toilets were separate from the bathroom, which was a bonus. TV a bit small and far from the bed so not easy to watch. On the top floor overlooking a main street but it was quiet. Breakfast was tasty and varied. Coffee a bit weak. Check-in and out easy and fast. We wanted wine on Sunday evening but the bar was closed and one of the guys at reception offered to pour us glasses, which was nice. 2mn walk from Rennes train station / metro and bus. A fair few restaurants around and shopping centres nearby. Historic centre is only about 10mn walk. Didn't use the spa or pool so can't comment but they both looked attractive and welcoming. Few minus points: no milk in the room, only a few sachets of instant coffee. Air con a bit troublesome so hot in room but could open the two large windows so no biggie.

The hotel is very well located, near the station and not far from the center. Only 2 patterns in the bathroom, well insufficient to find or depose wet shirts and towels after use, nothing for the bathroom towels. The room was very nice and the room was very nice and the room was very nice and the room was very nice.

Reviews From Real Travelers
We had brunch and our experience was not memorable at all. The service was extremely poor! 1/ we booked a week in advance requesting to sit by the window. When we arrived, we were shown to a table in the center of the room. I asked for the table requested as I could see that there were a few tables by the window unoccupied, but was told that it’s all full!!! I insisted and had to wait for them to come back with a negative reply. All this time while waiting, the people who arrived after us were shown to the tables by the window. So, not wanting to be petty, we accepted the table. 2/ the waiter explained to us that brunch is from 12 noon to 16:00. So you would assume that you could stay until then. At 13:30 we were told very rudely that we had to leave as there will be a second service. All this, without an apology, or an advance notice that we need to vacate the table! Very very unprofessional. 3/the plate of my niece was literally taken away under her nose, as she was finishing her dessert! We were so shocked that we didn’t even have time to make any comments! There are more but I wouldn’t bore you. Suffice to say we were not impressed at all by this restaurant. Food was so so. It wasn’t even on the rooftop. Anyway even if you still want to go, there is no need to ask to be seated by the windows as there is nothing to see. I am shocked that such a well know brand of hotel/restaurant is providing such awful service. I would not recommend this restaurant

The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable. Restaurant with a very beautiful view, abundant and really good meals. A little bemol on the service but it's the beginning that it must be put into place.

Kenavo. A une prochaine j'espère.

We stayed here as a last resort after several other Novotel disasters (3 chicken nuggets served as a ‘burger’; my wife and I receiving our meals 5 minutes apart and both stone cold; a maitre D that tried to open a bottle of champagne with a corkscrew etc,) This was our first visit to Rennes and our last try of this formerly trusted hotel brand. They were undergoing building work so the kitchen was a container in the car park, the menu was limited to burgers, saucisses and crepes served on plastic trays in paper containers. Strangely it worked, the staff were brilliant at making it feel that this was something special, the ambience was great (no tvs with football on) and we had a fab evening. The only drawback was the limited wine list with no AC Bordeaux available (how does Accor group run out of wine in France?). I really hope they don’t implement the new kitchen/dining room and stay with this formula that really works. Well done everyone.

Managed to find the hotel easily enough (thanks to GPS) and parked outside to check-in before accessing the car park, which was beautifully cool (at least compared with the temperatures outside). The room was a standard Mercure affair - reasonably spacious and comfortable. Air-conditioning worked well. Breakfast was good. Location reasonably good for exploring the city.

Very well located city hotel in the standard of the Mercure chain. Friendly greeting, room visit - everything is okay. Our room 100 was quiet and offers a view of the indoor courtyard between hotel and senior residence. Very good is that there are also parking spaces. Clear recommendation for a city visit.

The most satisfying hotel for the French Women's World Cup spectator, the hotel is in a very good location. It's convenient to travel to the stadium to watch. A few kilometers from Rennes’s park football stadium. The table football in the lobby is full of fun. The western restaurant opposite the hotel has good hamburgers, like a motorcycle club.

Hotel located near the stadium of the road of Lorient. Free private parking. The rooms in the rear are quiet. Great room in grey and grey tones. Comfortable bedroom. Occultating gardens. The room was very comfortable and was very comfortable. We have had a problem: the morning when we got no hot water, so we can't take a shower and shampoo. We told the host who told us to be aware but not to have a solution. The same person, who was still sympathetic, told us that he had reported the problem to the management but could not do anything, which explains my note.

I stayed here for 4 nights while here for work. I found the hotel to be quiet and comfortable with adequate air conditioning and good WiFi. Everything worked and was clean and maintained, although the rooms were clearly old and rather soulless. Breakfast was great in places (freshly squeezed orange juice, leaf tea!) and not so good in others (cooked breakfast was well below average), but if you are happy with continental style food then you will be happy. The staff I spoke to were all friendly and helpful too. Finally, the location is excellent, with so many places just a short walk away

We stayed as a group of friends weekend of 12th Aug. Fairly warm summers weekend. To set the tone. The hotel is situated in a fairly rough part of the town, which has some lovely parts. Quite a few ************ near the hotel begging, smell of urine and drunkenness. The hotel it’s self is run down and in desperate need of a refurb. Our room was clean and the beds however were comfortable. The aircon was however pathetic, basically didn’t work. Our whole group had two nights of awful sleep, having to get up to have a cold showers just to try and be cool enough to sleep. We opted for the breakfast which was ok. Overall summary, if you want to go to Renne on the cheap this is perfect but you will get what you pay for.
