This was our second visit to this hotel and it really is a lovely place. The building is a converted convent and the convention has been beautifully done. Breakfast is excellent with plenty of choice in a buffet style. The staff are friendly and attentive, especially the breakfast and Bar staff. We first visited not long after the hotel had opened and it was noticeably busier on this visit. Elvas is a lovely place to wander round. The fortifications, castle, small ally ways, churches, gardens & museums are a joy to explore. It also has some great quality restaurants. Would highly recommend Adega Regional, Recanto de São Paulo & especially Acontece. There is plenty of free parking around the hotel if you are traveling by car and it makes a great base for exploring the area, even nipping over the border into Spain. Look forward to returning again.

Simply amazing. A lovely restauration of an old building that came out to be a beautiful hotel. The only problem that they were not allowed to add an elevator - but the staff is helping and bringing the luggage up and down. We had a gourmet dinner there and a lovely and informative service from Joao the owner and the rest of the staff. Highly recommended.

Stayed for a couple of nights at Gran Hotel Zurbaran in Badajoz, and thouroughly enjoyed it. From the higher floors there is a beautiful view over the Guadiana river (if the room is facing the back of the hotel). Very central, is ideal to explore the old town or to walk along the pleaseant river banks or across over the bridges. Parking can be a headhake, although free (there is parking inside the hotel at €12,50/day. The staff is very kind and accomodating, always ready to help. It’s a reasonable 4* hotel, but it is starting to need little bits of renovation. Spacious room and comfortable bed. If you book well in advance you might get a better price. Little discount if you become a (free) member of Sercotel. Great stay. Recommend the hotel. Will go back again.

The beauty at the front desk was very good at English and introduced the history of the hotel very warmly. The hotel is transformed from an ancient building in the 17th century. The room is very spacious, that is, there are too few sockets. You have to charge the plug and you can unplug the TV. The sound insulation is not very good, and the sound of passing cars outside can be heard.

Location is good for driving outside the city. The hotel facilities are relatively new, the rooms are large and the bathroom is particularly spacious and comfortable. The rooftop restaurant has a nice view. The first floor ** machine is very new.

Used this hotel as a one night stopover travelling down and back from the Algarve. Hotel is well located with easily accessible secure and plentiful underground parking. Nice welcome upon arrival on both stays. Rooms were well equipped and nicely maintained with comfortable beds, nice linen and towels. We opted for Dinner B&B as the price offered was so attractive we did not expect too much but how wrong we were. As with most hotels away from the tourist coastal areas lunch is served till 4pm and then dinner from 9pm which is too late for us. On both occasions we arrived before 3pm so took advantage of the option to use the dinner credit for lunch in the bar area. So glad we did there was a decent choice of options for the 3 courses included which were very nice. Breakfast was served buffet style in a large restaurant area to the rear. On the first stay we were a bit disappointed although there was plenty on offer some of the cooking let it down. The croissants were undercooked almost white in colour and not flaky at all. The fried eggs were cold but done to a crisp underneath and the bacon was cold and sitting in a lot of grease. On the second visit the breakfast was far better with everything being far better presented and warmer. For the price of our stays and what we received I suggest it was great value and would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a stopover as we did.

Four-star hotel, very cost-effective. High-speed roadside, very easy to find. The hotel has a spacious car park and convenient parking.

You can immediately see the hotel needs a bit of investment. Crumbling, cracked exterior that a new paint job just won’t cover. However, the room was spacious and the staff are good, particularly the front desk lady….friendly and professional. The buffets (breakfast and dinner) are very average but good value for money. The pool is very busy but it was hot. The restaurant staff tend to congregate and gossip at the bar when they should be focused on the guests. I’d stay again as it’s decent value for money. I’d avoid the golf course which looked lousy.

During our trip to Portugal we stay here one night to portugal and one night from portugal. The staff is very friendly . Nice,clean and spacious room. Perfect restaurant , Commercial center nearby direction portugal. We are sure we will go bacjk there.
