"Last stay was years ago with a great deception with the spa. Came back for a brunch and was surprised by the wonderful renovation. We stayed for 2 nights last week end. Positive points: very warm welcoming and service. Amazing renovation. Forest rooms are nices quite and handy to get to the spa. Congratulations to all the nice team! Restaurant la Source : reached nearly the perfection. Only the sweets desserts with the coffee could be Improved (cannelé too dry,... Ect). Just a detail after a perfect dinner with a perfect service! Spa: great renovation, you can eat there. Sunday brunch : perfect Negative points : For this standing, spa treatments were fully booked and I got just a remnand pedicure (well done) but still if you book this standing hotel and take all the options (restaurant la Source, the other restaurant, forest rooms, Sunday brunch)... What a deception to not be able to enjoy any massage or other cares... Saturday jacuzzi full nearly all the time with a noisy big group. No places to rest... My man after a walk did not came back to the spa because of the lack of seats and the noisy group who monopolysed the outdoor jacuzzi all the afternoon. I finally left also to eat and sleep... Next time, I will ask if there are groups, if yes I will avoid... You want to relax. For only French speaking clients, an effort would be appreciated. The team do there best but menu a la Source was in English or Dutch, small words in the bathroom and spa also. Small details that may making only French speaking clients not so welcome. Phone reservations done one evening... Maybe no expienced... Not able to tell me the differences between the rooms, not able to tell me that a arrangement was more interesting for our Saturday stay with the dinner, not able to tell us that breakfast + brunch is too much... The first girl sent me back to the website and for the second young gentleman... I was not confident in his offer and checked myself... To prepare my stay. No problem for most of the people... But when you have a busy life you want precices and good advices. In conclusion will come back but with the assurance to not be at the same moment than a noisy group...and hope that I will not have to beg for a massage... Thank again to the amazing team! This message was long because I believe in the potential of la butte aux bois and If all theses points can be fixed, your will nearly touch the perfection... "
"We went for our 5 years anniversary. I saw a lot of good reviews and the Relais & Chateaux standard, so top and that's why we went there. And I know quality is a snapshot but at that level you expect something else. The basic service for a guest must be tip top with that "something extra" that we have not experienced; and that is what you expect in such a hotel ... and in times that the hospitality sector is suffering. Bon, nevertheless it will always be full... The stay; we notified of late arrival and that we wanted to eat something small. Arrival was at 9pm, very good reception but a bit later it turned out that we couldn't eat anymore, not inside and not on the terrace, just some snacks being "bitter balls" and desserts from the bistro menu. For a moment we considered driving on to the nearby village the buy some french fries (frietkot) as we where hungry. Next morning we had breakfast on the beautiful terrace with water sprinklers' noice constantly beating in the background, which spoiled a beautiful view, peace, calm and quietness, those sprinklers were there the whole day long, day and evening. The cup of tea of my wife was with caked muck, at first we thought it was a drawing in the cup; but as the cup became empty we saw that the "drawing" disappeared as well. We had dinner in the Bistro; having to wait 30 minutes at table before someone was asking for a drink. When the Maitre came we actually just wanted to leave to go somewhere else for dinner, outside the Hotel. We stayed for dinner but had snacks without drinks, had to ask for wine or else we got our appetizer without drinks. Fork and knife of my wife again with caked chunks, no spoon for the soup when serving soup. My wife asked for soup without eel but got it anyway in the end etc. At our neighbors table, main dish was served while appetizer was still on the table etc., they also got their wine with dessert instead of the mean course. In the end we got some real nice wines as compensation, but the atmosphere was set; At such a place you shouldn't feel that there is service, here you get irritated and I wasn't the only one ! and this for our 5 year celebration... But, very nice location, very good infrastructure, good food and very friendly, obliging staff; only one expects from a hotel that wants to participate at top level other achievements. The expected services do not meet the expectations of that service level. You come here to enjoy the peace and quiet as a guest and not to annoy you that you don't get drinks, empty glasses, dirty service, noise of sprinklers at your apero and breakfast, hardly anything to eat at arrival etc. -> No work organization, very slow service, very poor operational follow-up. Putting my complaints also on mail to the Hotel, I never had a reaction... Quality is a snapshot with a bad timing ? On this level no excuses."
"We have been celebrating our Chrismas’ afternoon or evening in this amazing establishment for many many years now. Its’ absolutely lovely atmosphere and wonderful personnel makes every visit a special one. Again yesterday we were privileged to be one of the many guests enjoying the luxurious Christmas brunch. I am still recovering from an accident so I was walking with crutches. They walked by my side to make sure that I was ok when I arrived with my daughter. And without having to worry about the position of our table they instantly changed it to an easier location so I did not have to walk up a few steps. It was so nice to be able to relax and enjoy the beautifully decorated restaurant. The food was exquisit and when Santa arrived to have his picture taken with all of us I’m sure he’d agree when I say that it felt like one big family!"
