"From the moment we walked into the hotel we were treated like Royalty. We were greeted by the Manageress who offered us a complimentary drink & then who along with a colleague carried our suitcases up the steep narrow staircase, whilst explaining that they were not allowed to install a lift due to the hotel being a listed building. The room was decorated to a high standard & included a modern tea/coffee making machine & underneath the bed was a movement sensor which switched on a light which was extremely useful in the dark, along with all the other ammenities you would expect from a hotel room of this quality. On the night of the concert the meal, efficiency/friendliness of the staff contributed to making it a truly memorable occasion. We would recommend this hotel to anyone, the only negative point we would like to say is how foolish we were not to book for longer. Kath & Noel from England"
"This is our third time to stay at this hotel. It has changed ownership since the last time that we stayed. Kyona is the new owner and she was so friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful stay, we will always go back and we highly recommend this hotel."
"A perfectly located hotel which gave you easy access to the main areas of Maastricht town centre. With an abundance of bars and taverns you were never short of finding food to meet all tastes. The main bar area of the hotel is beautifully decorated with high ceilings ornately covered with beautiful carvings. I didn't eat there but prices seemed reasonable."

"Last stay was years ago with a great deception with the spa. Came back for a brunch and was surprised by the wonderful renovation. We stayed for 2 nights last week end. Positive points: very warm welcoming and service. Amazing renovation. Forest rooms are nices quite and handy to get to the spa. Congratulations to all the nice team! Restaurant la Source : reached nearly the perfection. Only the sweets desserts with the coffee could be Improved (cannelé too dry,... Ect). Just a detail after a perfect dinner with a perfect service! Spa: great renovation, you can eat there. Sunday brunch : perfect Negative points : For this standing, spa treatments were fully booked and I got just a remnand pedicure (well done) but still if you book this standing hotel and take all the options (restaurant la Source, the other restaurant, forest rooms, Sunday brunch)... What a deception to not be able to enjoy any massage or other cares... Saturday jacuzzi full nearly all the time with a noisy big group. No places to rest... My man after a walk did not came back to the spa because of the lack of seats and the noisy group who monopolysed the outdoor jacuzzi all the afternoon. I finally left also to eat and sleep... Next time, I will ask if there are groups, if yes I will avoid... You want to relax. For only French speaking clients, an effort would be appreciated. The team do there best but menu a la Source was in English or Dutch, small words in the bathroom and spa also. Small details that may making only French speaking clients not so welcome. Phone reservations done one evening... Maybe no expienced... Not able to tell me the differences between the rooms, not able to tell me that a arrangement was more interesting for our Saturday stay with the dinner, not able to tell us that breakfast + brunch is too much... The first girl sent me back to the website and for the second young gentleman... I was not confident in his offer and checked myself... To prepare my stay. No problem for most of the people... But when you have a busy life you want precices and good advices. In conclusion will come back but with the assurance to not be at the same moment than a noisy group...and hope that I will not have to beg for a massage... Thank again to the amazing team! This message was long because I believe in the potential of la butte aux bois and If all theses points can be fixed, your will nearly touch the perfection... "
"We went for our 5 years anniversary. I saw a lot of good reviews and the Relais & Chateaux standard, so top and that's why we went there. And I know quality is a snapshot but at that level you expect something else. The basic service for a guest must be tip top with that "something extra" that we have not experienced; and that is what you expect in such a hotel ... and in times that the hospitality sector is suffering. Bon, nevertheless it will always be full... The stay; we notified of late arrival and that we wanted to eat something small. Arrival was at 9pm, very good reception but a bit later it turned out that we couldn't eat anymore, not inside and not on the terrace, just some snacks being "bitter balls" and desserts from the bistro menu. For a moment we considered driving on to the nearby village the buy some french fries (frietkot) as we where hungry. Next morning we had breakfast on the beautiful terrace with water sprinklers' noice constantly beating in the background, which spoiled a beautiful view, peace, calm and quietness, those sprinklers were there the whole day long, day and evening. The cup of tea of my wife was with caked muck, at first we thought it was a drawing in the cup; but as the cup became empty we saw that the "drawing" disappeared as well. We had dinner in the Bistro; having to wait 30 minutes at table before someone was asking for a drink. When the Maitre came we actually just wanted to leave to go somewhere else for dinner, outside the Hotel. We stayed for dinner but had snacks without drinks, had to ask for wine or else we got our appetizer without drinks. Fork and knife of my wife again with caked chunks, no spoon for the soup when serving soup. My wife asked for soup without eel but got it anyway in the end etc. At our neighbors table, main dish was served while appetizer was still on the table etc., they also got their wine with dessert instead of the mean course. In the end we got some real nice wines as compensation, but the atmosphere was set; At such a place you shouldn't feel that there is service, here you get irritated and I wasn't the only one ! and this for our 5 year celebration... But, very nice location, very good infrastructure, good food and very friendly, obliging staff; only one expects from a hotel that wants to participate at top level other achievements. The expected services do not meet the expectations of that service level. You come here to enjoy the peace and quiet as a guest and not to annoy you that you don't get drinks, empty glasses, dirty service, noise of sprinklers at your apero and breakfast, hardly anything to eat at arrival etc. -> No work organization, very slow service, very poor operational follow-up. Putting my complaints also on mail to the Hotel, I never had a reaction... Quality is a snapshot with a bad timing ? On this level no excuses."
"We have been celebrating our Chrismas’ afternoon or evening in this amazing establishment for many many years now. Its’ absolutely lovely atmosphere and wonderful personnel makes every visit a special one. Again yesterday we were privileged to be one of the many guests enjoying the luxurious Christmas brunch. I am still recovering from an accident so I was walking with crutches. They walked by my side to make sure that I was ok when I arrived with my daughter. And without having to worry about the position of our table they instantly changed it to an easier location so I did not have to walk up a few steps. It was so nice to be able to relax and enjoy the beautifully decorated restaurant. The food was exquisit and when Santa arrived to have his picture taken with all of us I’m sure he’d agree when I say that it felt like one big family!"

"I booked this hotel for myself and my friend as part of Andre Rieus package deals. I chose the highest price bracket hotel they offered as thought it would be better than the slightly lower grade one i stayed last time I went. It was classed as 4/5 star-more like a 3, I would say. So terribly disappointing! I wanted it to be lovely for my friend as she had not been to Maastricht before. The room was advertised as "deluxe". Far from it! It had now view whatsoever-overlooked a wall and a tombstone! (Was backing onto the church wall). Quite large but very mediocre decor and none of the usual touches such as throws or cushions-very basic. Had to ask for more tissues. The hotel itself was disappointing. We had stayed at a 3 star the previous night which was beautiful and had a lovely reception area and free tea, coffee and ice creams all day in a downstairs room. This had none of that! Not even a proper reception area. But the worst part of the stay was the three course dinner we had also booked in advance though Andre Rieu Travel. The hotel seemed unable to cope with the number of people wanting meals as they were serving people outside as well. Even though we had pre booked many months in advance, we did not take priority. There seemed to be one poor girl serving everybody. They asked if we wanted to sit in or out when we arrived at our allotted time and opted outside. After ten minutes of nobody approaching us we thought we had better go inside as we were on the clock with the concert start time. We then waited 45 minutes before our order was taken. There was no choice-just one starter, one main and one dessert which did not appeal to a lot of the other diners. The starter finally arrived which was OK then we waited again for what seemed like hours! In the end everyone was just sitting there staring into space! I finally complained to a man whose sole function seemed to be to stand at the door and greet people. Strangely he came across some people he knew who got served straight away! Eventually the poor waitress said she had forgotten to "press the button" whatever that meant so our main course had not been ordered. When it eventually arrived after having to ask her how long it would be a few times, it was, in my opinion, inedible. It was veal but us and other diners agreed it seemed under cooked. So after all that wait I could not eat mine. We then waited yet again for the dessert which was OK. Later when we saw other restaurants in the Vrithof square, they seemed so well organised, carrying large trays of food out at the same time even though they had many people to serve. So all in all a very poor experience which somewhat marred our trip although the concert itself was wonderful. Anyone booking one of Andre's packages should read reviews carefully as it seems as the hotel was guaranteed customers, it did not care much about service. I must just say that after I got home I complained to the Andre Rieu company and they eventually, a"
"This is an updated version of the review I wrote after my first stay in 2017, but never published back then. How Hotel Derlon managed to get a 4-star rating is beyond me. Maybe 4 stars means something different in the Netherlands. The breakfast buffet has deteriorated badly regarding choices since 2017, but is clearly still prepared the day before, with unappetizing marks on the cheese and meat from being stacked in the fridge over night. The bacon ranged from overdone to almost raw, submerged in its own fat in 2017, with only a small improvement in 2019. I suspect the scrambled eggs started as powder, not fresh eggs. In 2017 all breads appears to have been defrosted, but this seemed a little better i 2019. This is the first 4-star hotel I have stayed in, that had absolutely no foreign newspapers available for guests. Nothing in English, French, not even German. Only Dutch. The hotel has several SSID's for different parts of the hotel which is annoying, as you have to enable all of them at arrival. Sadly, none of them works properly, and could not handle my VPN connection, which made it impossible to work at the hotel. Above is still correct in 2019 but they changed the system, so every room has its own SSID. I was not able to get it to work at all during the stay. The streets around the hotel are all cobblestone, and lots of bars surround the small square in front. Do not expect to sleep much, if you are a light sleeper. The pillows feels like airfilled, and impossible to form for a comfortable sleep. Overall the hotel seems run down. The chairs in the lounge/bar area has a lot of unsightly scuff marks. I only stay at the Derlon for proximity reasons."
"We were here visiting for Andre Reiu concert and ended up sitting in the Derlon courtyard for drinks before the concert. Very lovely setting and wait staff was very nice. Enjoyable time. A band played nearby providing entertainment and adding to the charming outdoor setting. "

"St. Gerlach was a fantastic experience that we would highly recommend for anyone looking for a romantic getaway. The property is stunning, the facilities are beautiful and you have everything you need for the visit in one location. The junior suite had a nice combination of traditional inventory and romanticism, yet it was clean and well put together. The bed was one of the best we ever slept in, not to mention the peacefulness of waking up on the countryside. The room was also made several times a day. All facilities on the property were luxurious and well put together - from the restaurant, hotel bar, bistro, rooms and spa. The spa facilities were larger than expected and very fresh/clean. The breakfast had a wide range of selection with a nice view, the restaurants had a traditional luxury atmosphere with impeccable food. The service at the property was overall excellent, with some minor details to be addressed here and there. There was one receptionist and one employee at the bistro that were a bit below the expected standards for a chateau - the service was not bad but you can see similar in a regular hotel or bistro. Otherwise the employees in the reception, restaurant and spa were attentive and professional. What has to be mentioned, is the outstanding service we received from Orpheo in the hotel bar. This was one of the best service experiences we have had and he went out of his way to accommodate and turn our evening around. We did not book a table for dinner in advance and the restaurant and bistro was completely full. Orpheo called the restaurant and set up a table in the breakfast restaurant entirely for us alone. In addition he was utmost professional, attentive to details and went beyond the extra mile to give us an excellent experience. For anyone who appreciated luxury and attention to details, this is the place to be. "
"This is my 3rd stay at the Château St Gerlach. I booked it as a treat for my son and his girlfriend who visited us for the holidays. My partner and I have been here twice before and we enjoyed both those visits and wanted our family to have this experience too. Apart from the daily breakfast, we only had a couple of meals in the chateau and both were good. The staff are as professional, courteous and friendly as always. The spa/wellness area continues to be my favorite sanctuary within the chateau. It was a particularly slow season during our visit so we practically had the pool to ourselves most of the time. I do miss the Christian Lacroix toiletries. They smelled heavenly and it was a shame that they no longer use the brand. We hope to make it back a 4th time. I can never get tired of this place. "
"Dear Madam/Sir, We booked a 2 bedroom apartment because on the website it looked like a ground floor apartment. When we arrived, we were actually given a two floors apartment with a very steep staircase. This was an issue as my mother in law who was with us had recently had an accident with a staircase and we were all stressed during our stay. Basically, we had to make sure someone was always with her going up and down. I know your website advises to inform for people with disabilities, but I am not sure the pictures you have posted are true to what you actually offer given that ground floor apartments turned out to be limited. Thank you for considering this in the future. Otherwise, we had a very nice stay!"

"My friend and I came to Maastricht only for one day..but we should have booked longer. Lovely city and nice restaurants. The hotel ist just across the road from a large parkhouse which was very convenient. The rooms are spacious really nicely and modernly decorated. Large bathroom and although we slept to the street side, we weren't disturbed by traffic. The curtains let no light through so we were able to sleep longer although the sun shone brilliantly. As we checked out, the young man who checked us out was very charming, interested to hear where we had eaten and what we had done and gave us tips for the day. We will definitely be coming again."
"Hotel Trash Deluxe is situated in the centre of the city. It is run by fantastic staff, who have a positive and go getting approach to their jobs and guests. We stayed in the wood themed room, there were three of us and te room consisted of two bedrooms and a bathroom and even a outside courtyard area. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean and perfect. We also had the breakfast the next morning, very yummy. I really don't think I can fault this city or hotel."
"Great new boutique hotel in an old building with a few rooms close to the center of Maastricht. Our room - metal - was spacious at the back of the house. Quiet save for the creaky floor. Apparently the floor above us was creaky too. Breakfast was superb and coffee/tea included 24/7. The place is a bit noisy so not the best if you’re a lite sleeper "

"Lovely hotel situated in the heart of Maastricht. We had a lovely room on the 3rd floor, very clean and airy. One particular tip - the car park opposite is very convenient is €35 for 24hours. The hotel car park is €20. We opted for the hotel one, which is usually valet service, sadly not when we were there. It is a good 10 minute drive, 5 min walk from hotel. It is a very small courtyard with limited spaces, not suitable for a big car. We arrived to find other guests had parked badly and left no space for us so we returned to the hotel and parked in the public car park. The hotel had no hesitation in refunding us, were apologetic and helpful. We checked out earlier than planned and they offered to refund our late checkout payment as well. They were incredibly service oriented and friendly. A really good visit."
"We booked the last room available in Maison Hustinx because of its central location. The room itself was OK, but we were not aware that an extension was being added to the building. We were disappointed that the view was a messy construction site and that scaffolding went right up against our window. We complained about the loud noise (drilling, hammering…) after the first night and, admittedly, it stopped when we complained again in the afternoon. Although we were told it would not be the case, there was work done on Sunday and more drilling and hammering on Monday morning. The place had very much a work-in-progress vibe: a hole in the wall of the first-floor landing, patches of plaster on the walls, threadbare runners on the stairs… Although the stairs are not the steepest in the Netherlands, the building would benefit from a lift for accessibility and convenience. Guests who arrive after 6 pm, when the reception closes, should travel light or be fit enough to carry their luggage to their rooms unaided. On the positive side, the location is great and the two members of staff with whom we had contact were extremely kind and professional (they even brought a bottle of cava to the room when I mentioned that it was our anniversary). The building will make a nice guest house when it is finished. "
"We have nothing bad to say about this hotel, we had a great experience, including valet parking (we saw another guest complaining; our experience was excellent!). The service was great, the room was spacious (especially comparing with most Europeans hotel rooms), amenities plenty. Great shower (good water pressure), in room coffee/tea, little fridge, very comfortable beds. Given it incredible location and service, definetly recommended."

"Yes, the hotel is in the old town, wherever it is convenient, it is an old monastery remodeled. There is a Chinese restaurant opposite the hotel. The key is that Maastricht is very beautiful, there are not many people visiting in winter, and even less Chinese tour groups. Because of the junction of the three cities of the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, it is very international. Shopping is great, Belgians are running over to buy things. Classical architecture, beautiful lakes, and the “Paradise Bookstore” rebuilt by the church."
"Parking nearby is very expensive, and then the staff told us a not so close 10 Euro a day, the parking price is very cheap, 40 Euros for children with children, hmm, the city is very beautiful, the hotel location is also very good, far from the city center very convenient"
"Four people booked a suite, which was an old abbey renovation. One suite has two large beds. The only downside is that there is no parking at the hotel entrance. Stop at a farther place and come over."

"We booked a 4 people room here because the rest of hotels were without rooms, but the choice was really good. For that price we received a very nice room with comfortable beds. The TV installed was good and was very good situated. As a bad points, there is a window in the bathroom's door which was a problem for us, leaving us without privacy, and the views from the room were not good, but these are not very important points in my opinion. The best think is that in 10 minutes walking you are in the city center."
"We stayed one night in the Craft’s hotel: spacious, modern, luxurieus and comfortabele . The hotel is very close to both the railway station ( direct connection to Amsterdam) as well as the centre of Maastricht. And as a welcome we got asparagus soup! Loved it! "
"Though the decoration is a bit unusual we had an excellent stay: secured parking lot right next to the hotel, huge room with huge beds and very clean. Modern and cosy hotel reception and breakfast area with good service and very friendly personnel."
