Via Libertà 128 A, Isola delle Femmine, Sicily, Italy
"This is a large resort that is still in the midst of off-season renovations. We stayed for several days as part of a small group. Our group leaders were fluent in Italian; the rest of us were not, but did not feel it was a problem. The staff are friendly and accommodating; most speak passable English. The room (320) was very large and clean, well air conditioned, with large bathroom with bidet and good water pressure. The terrace tiles need replacing, and although we had a nice sea view, directly underneath was a really dirty concrete roof. It did not spoil things for me, but might for another person. Clientele: The hotel was fully booked with extended Sicilian families. There were hundreds of children of all ages. There are no "adults only" areas as far as I could tell. Everyone was well behaved and all seemed really happy to be there. The beach was crowded bu nice, connected to hotel by underground tunnel. The signage should be better giving directions around the resort. The street along the beach is lined with restaurants if you wish to get some meals elsewhere. There are two pools, one at the sea side, one at the back, with beautiful views. The back one is scheduled to undergo renovation. Right now, there are no steps into that pool, just ladders. Plenty of areas to sunbathe with chaises. The back pool bar was really good, the front not so good. Food: The food at lunch and dinner was really good. Even if a particular dish does not LOOK good, try it anyway- it was all delicious, and a huge selection at lunch and dinner. The free wine was good. One night was " Sicilian " night- lots of music and fun. If you buy into the full board plan, you have your own reserved table every day for lunch and dinner. The breakfast was OK, but could be improved with a bigger selection, like include oatmeal and more meat , maybe an omelette station. Tons of eggplant and Octopus done every which way . The pasta dishes were amazing. We are New Yorkers, some native Italians and we all thought it was good. There is also an outdoor pizzeria that was very good. There is an excursion desk, taxis into Palermo, and plenty of family activities, plus a show every night. If you are an American family with small children wanting to relax at the beach for a few days before hitting smaller hotels elsewhere in Sicily, don't hesitate, your kids will have fun here. I only have one WARNING: The noise level here is VERY HIGH,all over, but especially in the dining room. If anyone in your party is hard of hearing or on the spectrum, or otherwise bothered by high noise level, do not stay here. The first day was startling. We eventually got used to the noise level and recognized the resort for what it is- a big family resort. It would however be really good if the renovations could include dialing down the dining area noise. My only major complaint is - NO WIFI IN ROOMS. I am told they will be fixing that. My minor complaint is: Having to use "bar cards" which are indistinguishable fro"
"We spent 4 days in the hotel. I knew there was renovation works going on at the time of the booking, but I was informed that most of the work was finished already. When we arrived there were a number of workers still busy painting, drilling the walls, so the renovation is still full on. The reception desk is not ready yet, the staff is sitting behind a table hidden under cables. I booked the free airport shuttle, and I was informed that it would be waiting for us at the airport terminal. However when we arrived, there was nobody there. After waiting 20 min I called the hotel. the first person who picked up the phone doesn't speak English, so she transferred me to somebody else. He kept me on hold for 5 min until he was checking the situation. When he got back to me he said that the shuttle is not at the airport (which I already knew), and I should wait. I asked when was the shuttle coming and he said he didn't know. I asked him what should I do then, and he hung up the phone. We waited another 10 minutes when I called back the hotel again, and they said that the shuttle was on the way already and was gonna arrive in 5 minutes. We waited another 30 minutes, and the shuttle finally arrived. The hotel was about 15 minutes from the airport, so it is hard to see how was the shuttle already on the way and arrived only 30 min later. The check in process was nice and easy. We got a room which had no balcony. I asked the receptionist to change rooms and get one with a balcony, which she said they had none, even though the hotel was basically empty at that stage. Anyway it's not all bad. The hotel grounds are very nice, they have a number of pools, heaps of sun loungers and a private beach area. The beach is very nice, the water is clear, what else would you need. The room was comfortable, the beds are large and firm. The bathroom is large, however the water in the shower wasn't going down the drain, so after having a shower the bathroom floor was flooded and the water kept going into the living area and even outside the door to the corridor. The walls are very thin, you can hear the neighbours and noises from outside. Basically every night there was a "road race" just outside of the hotel, so I couldn't sleep for 2 hours from the noise of the cars/bikes whatever it was. Last night it was very windy outside and the wind kept moving the door and the window, which was very noisy so I couldn't sleep. Generally the food is OK, however there is not much choice for coeliac or diabetic people. There is no sweetener to use only sugar, no dairy free milk, no gluten free options. On the first day there was a few gluten free biscuits, but not on the following days. There is no vegetables for breakfast at all. The local wine is free and delicious, highly recommended. Most of the food is cold at dinner what I didn't really understood why. The dinner starts quite late at 19:45, so most people would be there at the same time when the restaurant opens, which makes i"
"A seaside hotel located west of the city of Palermo (20 km) with 2 outdoors pools and a private beach. Each hotel room has a reserved beach umbrella for the duration of stay which means no need to hurry every morning to book an umbrella like in other such places. Food for lunch and dinner is of course Mediterranean and very tasty. Congratulations to the cooks! Congratulations also to the entertaining team who works hard all day long and night as well. Make sure to watch from the terrace the beautiful scenic sunset above the sea"
