Piazza Sordello 52, Mantova, Lombardy, Italy
"The Hotel was very well equipped for a large group, we were 26. They could even organize a dinner, local delicacies, at a short notice. The rooms were pleasant, at the main square. We were on the fourth floor, no noise. The only challenge for some were a small lift, and still you might need to take a few steps down or up to reach your room. The bus driver could take us by the lake, behind Palazzo Ducale, and we needed to drag the luggage across the cobbled square. This, however, is a challenge in most historic towns, you cannot drive with a big vehicle to the door. On our way back the hotel receptionist was able to call a taxi to drive some of the ladies who had trouble with the luggage. Excellent location for the sights."
"We chose this hotel because of the central location. This is in a traffic-restricted area so you need to find parking out of the zone or buy a ticket or get a fine mailed to your home address in several months! We were traveling with 2 adults & 2 kids. As you can see in the photos, there were 4 Twin beds pushed together, the mattresses were springy and the decor was sparse. Our room overlooked the piazza which was beautiful during the day but for travel weary kids, not the best to be above at night. There are no room darkening shades, and the room was sunny at the crack of dawn (not a great thing when you’ve just travelled for 20 hours & crossed time zones). The elevator broke while we were inside of it and luckily, I was able to pry the doors open before we got stuck. Seemingly, this is a routine occurrence. Take the stairs! Upon our departure, we were given a typical Sbrisolona which made a nice snack on the next part of our road trip."
"Smack in the center on the Piazza, since we arrived with bikes as were on a cycling holiday parking is not an issue and they actually have a bike garage in the next street where we could keep our bikes safe. The hotel is old but modernized, beautiful old staircase for example. Our room was overlooking the Piazza but expect a little noise very early as the street cleaners come by, no curtains but you can close the wooden shutters to keep the morning and some of the noise out. Breakfast was okay but I am sure the pandemic took the shine off this a bit. The staff were more than helpful and even recommended an excellent restaurant away from the tourist traps."
