"I honestly don’t know where to start! From the moment I booked it was a great experience! We were staying for my partners birthday and it was all a surprise, I emailed the hotel to ask for some help on arranging a couple of surprises. Within 10 minutes I got a call from reception to see how they could help and what they could do to help, the gentleman on the phone recommended a restaurant to go to for my partners birthday dinner; which was LOVELY! I then arranged to have balloons and a cake delivered to the hotel before our check in and put in the room which was fab! All went to plan! We asked if it would be ok to have breakfast in our room on the morning of my partners birthday so he could open his presents as well, this wasn’t a problem at all! I then needed to get his presents into the hotel without him seeing, and before I could even ask for help, help was offered. Olivia on reception (I’m so sorry if I have your name wrong! We checked in on the 21st sept about 3pm) was beyond lovely! So friendly from the second we walked in, helpful, chatty, warm, friendly. I’ve been nervous of travelling in the current situation and here I had absolutely nothing to worry about! Everything was so clean and it smells incredible when you walk in! :) The style and the vibes of the hotel are just brill! We loved it and will be back time and time again! Thank you so much for helping make my partners birthday so perfect x"
"Sympathetically converted, this is a group of restored stone built buildings, with recent planting augmenting mature grounds. The rooms are all different, and at the highest end spectacular. Not a surprise that the owner is an interior designer. Front of house team and Management are extremely professional. At weekend the lively bar and breakfast area are also popular with non residents. The separate function rooms work well and can be divided or left open. Catering for 60, the quality and service remained high level. The restaurant is attentive, and for those in our group with dietary needs, they made a special effort with personalised courses. Their tasting menu and wine flight option took a small group of us on a delicious excursion. Recommend."
"We decided to celebrate my mum's 80th birthday with afternoon tea at Manor House and we were not disappointed with our choice. Everything was first class, including the service we received. They pitched their Covid response at the right level and we felt safe. We would definitely book again. I did enquire about NYE but they have not finalised what they are doing over the Festive Season; to be honest I can fully understand. Thank you"

"We had an amazing day at the Woodman for our Wedding day! We had to change a number of things about our day due to COVID restrictions. After contacting Jordan we were able to start planning our day (just weeks before the day). Jordan made us feel extremely comfortable and re assured us everything about our day would be amazing. He brought our excitement for the day back after so much heart ache. The planning process was so easy and Jordan was fantastic! The actual day was just perfect and we could not have wished for anything more. Dan did a fantastic job of looking after everyone and we never went without anything. All the guests were singing his praises. The food we had chosen was just devine especially the beef - our praises go to the chef too! We stayed over in the Thunderbridge suite which was also fabulous! Clean, lovely new decor and the most amazing bath! Thank you so much to the team at the Woodman, you gave us the perfect wedding we had wished for and more!"
"Stayed one night (a Sunday) whilst in the area for work. Couldn't believe the excellent room for the price. Very comfortable and reasonably quiet (room was downstairs and next to the pavement/road but wasn't overtly noisey). One issue was that the radiator wasn't working well, but this was obvioulsy known as an additional heater was provided which kept the room plenty warm enough. Had a very nice meal in the busy pub. Breakfast was a slight dissapointment due to there being no hot option (advised all the cookers had tripped due to a power cut?) but had a enough from the cold buffet to compensate. Staff were pleasant. Overall a great stay at a great price, just over £50 for dinner, bed and breakfast, couldn't be beaten for the quality of the stay."
"I was recommended the Woodman inn by a colleague and I was very impressed with the overall experience. The rooms were very spacious, clean and provided a very comfortable night sleep. The pub dinner in the evening provided a great selection with a log burner to keep you warm in the background. The 16 ounce T bone steak was fantastic. The owners were extremely helpful, friendly and did a delicious cooked breakfast in the morning. I would most definitely recommend!!"

"What an exceptional Premier Inn! The rooms are much nicer than other Premier Inns I have been to. The hotel staff were helpful and the breakfast staff were so friendly and welcoming as they accomodated our family wedding party of 16. Not to mention the breakfast selection was great too. Thanks for a lovely stay! Would definitely recommend and come to stay again."
"Friendly staff & lovely clean room as usual, the attached pub to this location offers a good veraity of food & drink whist complying with all social distancing also the staff in the restaurant where helpful & efficient plus top marks for the breakfast."
"Nice location next to canal. Room spotless, comfortable bed, constant hot water and brilliant shower. Staff really helpful. Bus stop just outside. Just one little downside tv was set at 15, we couldn't hear it. Would certainly recommend."

"Just had to write this whilst still sitting in the restaurant! We were recommended by friends for the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast package. No annoying supplements oriented choices on the menu - any dish from the a la carte range is include. We had scallops and parfait to start followed by lamb platter (perfectly cooked mini rack with beautifully brasied melt in the mouth lamb breast) served with a little dish of a stock reduction jus, sticky and flavouful. I had the surf and turf - fillet steak cooked med rare trust me. Staff lovely company and are totally well briefed with masks, distancing and full understanding of what it takes to be a responsible caterer in this Covid world. "
"We booked online for Sunday lunch,2 courses for £17 or 3 for £20. When we arrived we were seated in the bar area where our drinks were brought and food orders taken. The staff were very attentive nothing was too much trouble. After a short wait they seated us in the restaurant area. I had the belly pork,Mum had the chicken and my daughter had steak and ale pie I was glad I hadn’t ordered the starter as the portion sizes were good, still enough room for the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Will definitely visit again."
"Very large double room with nice en suite bathroom. This property has a coffee station in the corridor with a toaster, kettle coffee machine and a fridge with milk in. Also there are bottles of alcohol in the fridge which you can take and leave the money for your purchases, but no kettle in the rooms, but that is not a problem.. Easy access to the property next door to the public house,up the stairs to the rooms so you can come and go s you please, and around the rear of the pub is ample secure parking."

"I do have to say that you are best served at this location if you drive/have a car; nevertheless the local taxi firm is very reliable and inexpensive; I was with friends who had all booked earlier than me and got into a place nearer Holmfirth which was fully booked up because of a Picturedrome event. So I was slightly isolated and taxi reliant as I don't drive, but if you do this is most definitely a lovely place. Also sadly I didn't experience the bar / restaurant as I had to meet up elsewhere (very beer-laden Six Nations rugby weekend); I'm sure if we had all stayed at the Huntsman we would have had a ball, as it's all here on-site oop in them there Pennines with extensive views into Red Rose Country. But I did have a meal sent up later as room service which was a seafood and chorizo risotto of exceptional quality. And the best New Zealand Sauvignon I think I have ever sampled. "
"Booked The Huntsman based on other reviews on Trip Advisor as part of my husband’s Christmas present, along with tickets for a concert at a local venue. Beautiful room in a warm, friendly pub, with amazing views across the hills. Sadly the concert was cancelled - but that meant we could eat in the restaurant.... So glad we did - wonderful food, great atmosphere, brilliant staff and reasonably priced - what more could you want. The staff in particular go out of their way, and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend. "
"This place is just a great place to stay. I’ve been to weddings, 50th, night away with the other half and just stayed over with friends. Works on every level. Great spot to go to picturedome venue in holmfirth £10 max in taxi and you get to stay in a lovely spot. They have rooms that can accommodate 5. I’ll be back again soon x"

"Despite the fact that this lodge is almost in the heart of Huddersfield it has a most beautiful setting. Right on the local canal basin, full of local barges and interesting folk. The staff were excellent in both the reception and the attached restaurant. Polite, helpful and really efficient at their jobs. Always cheerful but aware of our current situation. Our trips to Huddersfield are frequent and we would certainly stay again."
"For £39 this was a good bargain and I cannot grumble about having to wait in the bar for 1o mins for the hotel reception chap to get back (he didnt take his pager when he went to a guest room). Room was cool on arrival but warmed up while we went for tea next door. Dylan did a good and friendly job serving us and overall, we'd be happy to revisit - especially at the £39 rate."
"A very convenient hotel for the town and university. Quiet and clean with interesting views of the canal boats and town. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are very accessible with a lift to upper floors. Restaurant is only a few yards from the reception."

"What a great little find in the middle of Holmfirth. Stayed in a room at the back of the Tap House for 3 nights/ The Rooms at the Nook. The room was big and bath /shower large and fully tiled room ,perfectly clean. Plenty of tea/coffee and TV in the room. light or full breakfast included, well cooked and service great, I even had Smoked Salmon and scrambled egg off the extras bored one day (no extra charge) Evenings in " Tap House " for a pint from the Micro Brewery and a meal was also very good. A small ish menu but the food was good and staff very friendly, my steak on the first night , complements to the Chef (and the local butcher) also pulled pork in a yorkshire was massive and tastey, Made time for another pint !!. Odd reviews complain !! at the noise , you are rite in the middle of Holmfirth with Hotels, bars and food around you and music in the old cinema on a lot of weekends. We found our room quite quiet on the first floor ,as I said " You are in the middle of everthing " The only down we found was no car park, but plenty of parking near by which was FREE from 4pm until 8am the next morning. As we were off out each day it only cost us 60 p for a couple of hours in the morning. PS . The selection of beers from the Micro Brewery is fantastic I tried a few over the 3 nights. I am taking home two eight pint kegs as presents so hope I am there when they are opened. Dave."
"We were going to stay just the one night, but we were having such a lovely time exploring Holmfirth, we asked if we could stay another night, ,the lady was very accommodating and offered us another room, as we had booked the room with the low beam knowingly, as it was the only room available, but while it was very clean, and comfy bed with lovely sheets, the beam was a slight issue, so we were moved to another lovely clean bright airy room overlooking the pub, we had no noise issues at all. The breakfast was served promptly with local produce, the location is perfect, the kitchenette is a great idea, we got food from Sainsbury’s and could cook it for our lunch, but treated ourselves to a delightful meal in the evening. We parked in the co op car park, £4 for the day, this is the only downside, and that is I had to get out of the comfy bed to put the ticket on the car at 8.00am. Would well recommend here👍"
"We were at a gig in Holmfirth. Took a while to find a decent hotel , then The rooms at the nook popped up on my search . So glad it did . Fantastic location. When we arrived the staff were so friendly showing us to our room , and a tour . Our room was at the back . Extremely quiet . The room was spotlessly clean . Huge towels , white duvet. Loved the sound of the river outside. We slept well . Breakfast was in a lovely bright room . I had the breakfast special, egg and salmon. My goodness it was amazing. Cannot recommend The Rooms at the nook more highly . 100% will be returning "

"We wanted to visit on Christmas Day but unfortunately the sittings were fully booked so as an alternative we decided to have Christmas Eve as a special evening with friends. We were not disappointed , the settings the ambiance ,service and of course the food were first rate. A very warm welcoming front desk presented our table with crackers and other items setting the seasonal tone. We were sat beside the Christmas tree and during the evening a local brass band visited and played Christmas carols and songs which really added to the atmosphere. The food being , duck and fish was outstanding with excellent starters of prawn salad and scotch eggs, just excellent quality and value. All in all a comfortable start to our Christmas experience, thank you to all the team."
"I have sent an email to the spa but not received a reply so here goes. Visited with my daughter on a school run deal which was £70 each. On arrival at 9.30am we were asked to fill in forms, asked for tea whilst we did that, waited 10 mins, asked for the tea again and it showed up , no apology. We were given robes and assumed the towels were in the spa as we were not given any , this was not the case so I went back to reception and the member of staff seemed reluctant to give me them , I found out later there was a problem with the washers in the laundry. We had our treatments which were nice , however neither of our therapists introduced themselves and explained the treatments. Lunch was included in the package and we had to ask for menus, the food was lovely but no one came to ask us if it was ok which to us is a common courtesy. I did speak to Jade when we left to give feedback ,it was the lady who did my treatment as I asked for her name and she explained about the towel shortage due to laundry problems. We had a great day together after a busy week and the relaxation was well needed, however we will not be revisiting due to the lack of attention to detail , customers should not have to be asking for everything when it should be provided . I always like to support local businesses but there is so much competition in the market we can receive better value for money and customer service elsewhere. "
"We had a wonderful time here at Christmas 2019. We were seated downstairs, good atmosphere. Very well organised, great service, friendly staff and excellent food. Exceeded expectations. Would highly recommend."

"We visited the hotel on a national holiday trip and it was classed as a luxury hotel and oh it’s luxury! The staff were fantastic from the beginning to end. The hotel is really modern and very clean. We got to our rooms and got changed for swimming, the swimming pool is fantastic and the jacuzzi was lovely and hot and sits so that you can see the view. We decided to order room service as we were all shattered from a busy day, myself and my sister ordered beetroot and goats cheese pasta salad and it was very very tasty, my mam decided to go for the pizza and it was one of the best pizzas we have tasted. We paid and extra £4.50 for the tray service. The beds were very comfy, myself and my sister were in room 121 which had 2 single beds and my mam was in 123 which had a double and a single. The rooms had everyone that was needed. Both of the rooms did have a slight smell which could have been damp or even something to do with allowing dogs however I have a dog so the smell wasn’t something that bothered me and wasn’t noticeable after a while. The breakfast was included in our trip but I can honestly say I’ve never had such a nice breakfast or been looked after by the staff as much as we did at this hotel. It’s the only picture I took of our stay unfortunately. The breakfast was hot and cold buffet style with all the options you can imagine including the option of different egg types (I choose the poach and they were perfect) I would definitely recommend this hotel! It has everything you could want and more! "
"Stayed here with National Holidays for one night. From arrival the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, modern and equipped for all that you require. We visited the swimming pool and spa which was very clean and relaxed. We ordered room service for evening meal which arrived in a reasonable time period and was well prepared and tasty. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful, staff in the restaurant were extremely attentive especially a staff member called Sherry who made us feel very welcome. Would highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely return - thank you "
"Stayed here for one night whilst working in area and check in was easy and staff very helpful. Being as it was late when we arrived we decided to chuck our bags in room and go to bar for a couple of drinks. There is a restaurant on site and the menu looked very appetising and when the staff told us we could order at the bar and eat in the bar area we were sold. Food arrived and was spot on and staff were brilliant. Got to room and the standard was very high. We stay in quite a few Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Expresses but this was one of the best. Keep up the fantastic work."
