Thalia is the bomb and this place is stunning! I have been coming here for years and best trip yet. The new management company has upgraded the rooms very nicely and whatever they are doing with staff training is amazing I have not met a single person who’s been less than delightful since checking in early at 1 PM.

Very good, worth recommending! First, after arriving at the hotel entrance, give the car key. Not only help with parking, but also for free! Some incredible, it is a very good experience! Secondly, the room was very warm and comfortable, and it was completely old without being used for a long time. Moreover, just at the seaside, almost zero-distance contact with the seabirds, opening the window and seeing the dolphins in the sea not far away, very rare! Good location, walk 10 minutes to the old fisherman's wharf, there is a Chinese supermarket on the right. The room structure is reasonable and easy to use, and the bedding and sofa are comfortable. Cold meals are available at 16:00 in the lobby, ham cheese fruit wine is very good. No hot food for breakfast and no meat, sorry. Overall good and worth recommending. Monterey town is beautiful, there is no parking near the aquarium, 17miles is beautiful, and the coastline of camel town is stunning.

Lovely, small inn on the edge of everything. Within walking distance to restaurants and aquarium. Room right over the water (seaguls are a bit noisy). Room was nice size and well appointed. Great service. 2 hot tubs very small - one with nice view. Cheers to the crew who helped us celebrate a birthday! Thank you.

This hotel used to be amazing. In the past, I would have paid the premium cost for the service, location, and experience. Now, I just can't say that anymore. I have stayed at the Portola hotel a number of times and the last few times, it just hasn't been that great, yet they still charge the same premium price The hotel is in a great location, which is still a draw, but the experience has become average. I love going to Monterey and this hotel was a reason I would want to come back, but now I find myself looking elsewhere. Portola just doesn't meet the expectations they put forward for the premium price they charge. So if you get a good price on that harbor view room, I would say go for it. Note, you may end up with a partial view looking at the roof of a building across the way, with a partial view of the water. But I would stay here again if the price was right. But if prices are the same as some of the other waterfront hotels, I will likely book elsewhere.

We arrived at 4 pm and checked in after 7 pm. The front desk said that the hotel system has crashed, everyone can't check in, and they can't give a time when it can be restored. Ctrip's customer service is still very good, communicated in time, and finally managed to check in. It was ridiculous, I argued with the front desk for a long time in my unfamiliar English. The location of the hotel is very good, you can walk to the aquarium, but the room facilities are outdated and need to be updated. The toilet was always beeping and the shower water wouldn't leak. Regardless of the check-in waiting time, the hotel is not bad in the popular area of ​​Montrey, and the service staff are warm and friendly. Catering is good.

I cannot say enough about the high level of service at this hotel. From the moment of arrival, the staff was friendly and answered all of our questions. The valet, front desk, and housekeeping staff were super pleasant and went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. The rooms were a nice size and very comfortable. The window seats were a great place to sip a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise. Breakfast tray in the morning was simple but sufficient. Nice way to start the day. WIFI was easy to access and worked well. The location of this hotel can't be beat. Steps away from the Aquarium, restaurants, shops, and of course the beach. Evening wine reception was nice touch. I will say that the decor is a little dated and could use a refresh. However, it did not detract from the pleasantness of our stay. One thing to note - parking is valet. $32/day.

I was expecting a much nicer hotel given the price, but I was disappointed. The facilities were a bit old,small and they didn't have many rooms with double queen beds for me and my guest. Also, no drivirng range for a golf course seems odd to me. Had to wait for a room upon checking despite arriving in the middle of the afternoon, but wasn't at 4pm. My safe was broken in the room, the room and bathroom were small.

Very comfortable hotel conveniently located in downtown Monterey and short distance from 17 Mile Drive. Rooms are spacious and staff is very friendly. Room amenities are: individual sized coffee pot and mini fridge as well as standard hair dryer, toiletries and iron. Microwaves can be delivered to your room by request at no additional cost. The Marriott has a bar and serves breakfast (not included in room rate) and other meals. It is connected to the Monterey Convention Center so if you are attending a conference, this is the best place to be. If you need parking, be aware, only valet parking is available at $40 per day with in and out privileges. There are a couple parking garages with hourly rates within a couple block walk, they do not have in and out privileges. Valet service takes about 10-15 minutes to get your car depending on time of day. Mornings were a little longer wait. Wifi is not free unless you are a Bonvoy Member, you can sign up on the spot. Would stay here again.
