Great hotel. Location, breakfast, room, service are great. The only problem is that the room facing the street is very noisy at night. And there will be people very early in the morning. People who need to be quiet will feel more noisy! Nothing else to say!

We have stayed at Villa Scacciapensieri in the past however it had been quite a few years since we were last there. We have always had a great time and were hoping to have another positive experience. To our delight, our stay this time was even better than we remembered. The grounds are beautiful, the hotel itself has a certain charm and the food was outstanding. The current chef is a master of his craft and we're sure we will hear more about him in the future. All that said, the real strength of the Villa is it's people. From always smiling Elena at the front desk to Elizabeth -- head of restaurant/dining -- and to all the other team members who make this place go, you will not find a more professional and friendly group who always make you feel like part of their family.

The only good thing about this location is my complimentary upgrade grade resulted from my Marriott premium status and the helpful and friendly receptionist Theodore ( plz excuse my misspelling), who provided much needed info for a first time visitor: food, free parking, point of interest. However the goods only stop here. The not so good: 1) absent of microwave 2) no complimentary water beyond the first one which is a contrary and consistency to the hotels of this brand. Terrible: 3) the lack of and absent of bandage or safety kit to supply to guest even when requested. Please try not to hurt yourself here. I think an Airbnb is regulated to have a safety kit in the property and I’m stunt to find Four Points does not have one within the establishment.

I brought my students, teachers, and parents to Hotel Minerva on our study tour of Italy/Siena. As soon as I got there, one of my group asked me if there was any toilet paper in my room, since there was none in theirs. To my shock and surprise, there was none! In addition, they were a group of three, but there were only two we in beds in the room. When I went to the front desk, they said they would add another bed to room, and handed me several rolls of toilet paper for the two rooms. A while later, my students informed me that they only had three twin beds in a quad. When I spoke to the night receptionist, he told me there was nothing he could do, that I had to talk to the manager in the morning. Next morning, when I spoke to the manager, he denied he was the manager, saying he was only a receptionist, and that there was nothing he could do. I had to speak to the owner, and he didn’t know when or if she would arrive. Eventually, they put another mattress in the quad, so my group had sufficient beds, but why did I have to ask for TP and beds?!?! They told me the owner was never there, but my students told me they met her, and she introduced herself to them! During breakfast, the girl running the breakfast room broke three glasses on the floor just during the time I was there, and then laughed about it! Avoid this place like the plague!

Siena is one of my favorite cities in the world and the Hotel Athena is a wonderful venue from which to explore this great city and Tuscany more generally. The rooftop patio for drinks at sunset is a must. The staff are top notch and very helpful.
