"We stupidly came too late despite us thinking it was early to see the sunset at Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar. Our last night and big mistake. They were full and we couldn't go. I am guessing pre-COVID times this would be fine but I can understand the need for social distancing. We couldn't be bothered to try another rooftop bar so went to 1826 TEQUILA BAR in the hotel. It didn't have the same view but it was a nice small intimate dim lighting hotel bar with light music and nice for a chilled Sunday evening with comfy sofas! Limited indoor and outdoor seating. Busy but with a pleasant, cosy ambience. Relatively clean. To view the different menu options, scan your smartphone on the QR code as per the new norm. We just wanted drinks and knew what we wanted so didn't bother. A lot of people were eating as well. Service was fast and efficient. Staff speak English. Not too expensive. Don't make a special trip to this bar unless you are staying in the hotel. I would say come very early if you want to see the sunset as I hear it is stunning and go to Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar. The hotel grounds are beautiful so worth a look."
"I held a surprise party for my wife's 50th birthday and our 20th wedding anniversary on Halloween night and everything was perfect - from the property, the company, the staff, the music, the setting, the food, the mariachi and mojigangas, the fireworks - even the rare Halloween full moon. Thank you for a wonderful experience and service."
"What a great time in this wonderful City. The Rosewood provides the best in service and accommodations. They go above and beyond expectations. There staff are second to none, the food was exceptional. Don't miss Luna on the roof. The views are magnificent. Highly recommend the entire Rosewood package to anyone. "

"The hotel is beautiful and well maintained. The staff is very attentive and Elihu in the restaurants is the best host I’ve met. Any request was met with a smile and his warmth and great personality made us want to keep coming back for dinner each night. Daniel Ramirez at the concierge handles all your requests with ease and the front desk manager helped with a booking mistake I made and straightened out all check in and billing situations I had. The staff here is what really makes the hotel shine. They are polite, respectful, knowledgeable and all seem to love what they do. We will definitely be back! Go see for yourself what a luxury hotel should be and definitely go meet Elihu!"
"We spent three days in gorgeous San Miguel de Allende and stayed at the Live Aqua. Really beautiful hotel with a contemporary look/vibe. If you're set on staying at a place with a very classical look then this may not be for you but if you like a more updated boutique feel that still has many local touches then you will absolutely love this place. Service was great. The concierge was very helpful in setting up reservations for us around town. Gorgeous pool area. We ate at both restaurants and the food was excellent. One of my favorite places I have stayed."
"My husband and i went to spice market and had a really wonderful meal there thanks to Eduardo who manages the restaurant. He was incredibly attentive. As my husband says a restaurant has to have 3 things- setting, service and good or great food. I will say that this restaurant has ll three. We had the pad thai and a curried duck and both were terrific. The artesanal ice cream too was delicious and the Casa Madero wine is always great. But again, what really stuck out was Eduardo. He waited on us hand and foot.' "

"I so enjoyed my stay at Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada! I was on a yoga retreat at the resort and enjoyed EVERY aspect of my overall experience! I will be back and would highly recommend Casa de Sierra Nevada in SMDA. The classic, Spanish-Mexican high-end styling and decor was beautiful as were all the courtyards, fountains, patios, pool, plants and gardens! Just gorgesous! The food and service was perfect and delicious, healthy and with such a nice presentation. Great views from every table... reminscent of the place and time of old Mexico. I also valued purified water daily, the gym and on-site (subtle) safety and security. The location was IDEAL and allowed me to walk everywhere without issue, including the nearby plaza. A 10:10 score, A+! Mil gracias!"
"I had high expectations for this hotel but it fell short. Except for the very few top floor rooms, the rooms are mostly on the bottom floor, very dark, and kind of depressing. If you have someone above you, you’ll hear foot steps. I felt mislead because the category of room we booked looked NOTHING like the photo online. We saw a total of 4 rooms and none of them were as represented. The food was also mediocre and at times, bland and too Americanized. The park restaurant had horrible live music with an American singing songs no one likes. The actual grounds look like they need to be sprayed and we couldn’t enjoy the pool with so many aggressive wasps. I wondered if there was a nest nearby. The main street of the hotel is in a very trafficy area. The hotel needs to ask the city to establish speed bumps. Some cars drove up on the side walks which are narrow and the only place to walk. Also our room needed a little work and smelled musty. We will not stay here or recommend to anyone. I’ve stayed at lower category and nicer hotels than this in San Miguel."
"This hotel is absolutely wonderful. The rooms are kept immaculate and the staff couldn't be better. The location is perfect for being near almost everything you want to go to. The food is reasonably priced and delicious. I would have given it the highest rating except for the cost of services. Private transport round trip between Queretaro /SMA/Queretaro cost me $160. The hotel was much higher. I also arranged for private transportation and tour of Guanajuato for a flat $25 per hour. The cost, including lunch, came to $240 ($120 each person). The hotel quoted $600 for two people but that included lunch. Ridiculous. If this hotel finds a service provider who charges less, I would say it is absolutely the perfect place to stay."

"so surprised! Quiet and friendly, the atmosphere on the roof, the wooden structure with the kitchen in the bedroom upstairs and downstairs surprises me! Good place, good hotel! Mexico!"
"It’s okay to stay for a while, we rent a car, so it’s convenient to go anywhere, and it’s convenient to eat nearby. You can consider it. It's easier to walk out than to drive"

"We had a lovely four day stay at Casa 1810 over the NYE holiday. The hotel is so conveniently located, just off the main square. We were a little apprehensive to see earplugs provided but we did not need them - and I tend to be a light sleeper. I did hear church bells one morning but they were not very loud. It is better not to bring a car to San Miguel de Allende but we had one and the staff handled our parking and retrieval seamlessly. Service was excellent, both gracious and helpful. Breakfast was included and is absolutely delicious. The rooftop bar is not to be missed, superb views and a great place to celebrate NYE."
"The good news: great location, beautiful overall design, nice rooms and courteous and helpful front desk staff . The bad news: no coffee or food ANYWHERE on-site until 8 am. Are you kidding me? A hotel that doesn't have coffee on at the lobby bar by 6 a.m. for their guests just isn't thinking. It wasn't just this issue...it's just that at these prices, a true boutique property should have an assortment of small but special things done for their guests to make the experience "personalized & special". It just didn't happen for us....maybe we were just unlucky...or maybe the management just isn't on top of things. They have a really nice roof top bar and grill, but you don't need to stay here to use it. So....if all I'm really paying for is a room, there are very nice rooms in the same area at half the price....or less. They just didn't give us a reason to return. All in all - a good hotel, but not a great one."
"We just finished the most amazing four days at casa1810. Everything about the hotel has been perfect. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and we truly felt like it was our home away from home. The restaurant, Trazo, was a culinary delight. The staff was so sweet and attentive. We look forward to coming back to Casa 1810 again.."

Aldama #53, Colonia Centro, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico
"We stayed in the Hotel Matilda for 4 nights in February 2020. The hotel is beatiful, with gorgeous common areas, including cool art and a very attractive pool. The rooms are gorgeous too--during daylight. Unfortunately at night the room lighting is so lacking it is comical. Forget reading in the room, or truly seeing yourself in the bathroom mirror. It's just mood lighting. And you can't see anything on the built-in shelves. The bed was awesome--very comfortable with great sheets and pillows. The towels were great too. The "included continental breakfast" was good. The pool was freezing and completely unusable--so it was just for looks. We saw people swimming in the nearby Rosewood hotel pool, so the Rosewood pool must have been heated. The thing that annoyed us the most was the charge for bottled water in the room that we learned about only at check out. There were pint sized bottles of water by the bathroom sink and on the night stands by the bed. Each night with turn down service the staff brought a bucket of ice and two bottles of water. It turns out there was a charge of 50 pesos (~$2.75 US) for each bottle of water. This was pretty annoying, especially given that our room rate was over 400 USD per night. Next time we would stay elsewhere."
"Tucked away in the Matilda Boutique hotel is Moxi restaurant. You can either sit out in the lanai area close to the back patio and pool or inside with an equally gorgeous view. Modern decor and dark color accents are all around. Fine linens, silver wear and plates adorn the table. The menu is in Spanish and English. We ate breakfast with friends and enjoyed the attentive wait staff and friendly atmosphere. I had tea, and a healthy egg white omelette with avocado and mushroom and fresh side salad. My husband and friends enjoyed Eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce, muffin, bacon and potatoes, chilaquiles and more. After we ordered, they brought light toast, butter and jam to tide us over until our orders arrived which was most appreciated. There were only a few other tables enjoying their meals, so it wasn't loud. Tables are a nice distant apart so we had plenty of room around us. I highly recommend getting a tour of the property if the manager Gustavo is available. They have an eclectic art collection and the history of Matilda Boutique hotel is fascinating. Plus, bar Mui upstairs is a cozy place for a drink before or after dinner."
"The hotel is perfectly lacated just some blocks away from the cathedral and downtown. But the most valuable thing is that service was flawless, food was amazing and the rooms very pretty and comfortable (the hotel overall is pretty and very well decorated). The only issue we had was that there was a construction in the building aside that walked us up very early in the morning with all the noise, however there were very kind and moved us to another quiet room and we enjoyed the rest of the weekend. We had a great dinner at Moxi with the best apple tart ever (with an incredible lavender ice cream). All the staff including doorman, receptionists, waitresses, etc were really kind and always anticipated our needs. We would certainly stay here again. "

Terraplen 42 Colonia Centro, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico
"Tasteful, charming and comfortable, there's very little not to like about this hotel. I liked the abundance of outdoor space -- patios, terraces and especially, the leafy courtyard, where we had large to-order breakfasts in the morning. The staff was very friendly, professional and eager to help. The location is excellent, right near a very nice park if you're a jogger. A couple of small things to know: It does get rather cool at night in the winter -- about 35F / 3C a couple mornings in February. The A/C unit in the rooms also doubles as a heater. The television has one or two English-language options but, oddly, they're local Florida network TV channels. A BBC or France24 or even CNN would be nice. My only small complaint about the room was the carpet, which looked a bit worn. But that's minor, and overall, I enjoyed my stay at El Santuario, which clearly lives up to its name."
"This is a beautiful, colonial hotel minutes walk to La Parroquia. With folk art from different regions of Mexico, and beautifully appointed rooms, we were very pleased. But what also sets this hotel apart is the friendly, exceptional service. Marina and Abraham at the breakfast buffet went out of their way to provide friendly service, including preparing special breakfasts for my wife. We can’t wait to return. We recommend going for El Día de los Muertos and staying here!"
"This lovely, quaint hotel is true Mexico with a gorgeous courtyard, reception area and huge folk art decor. The rooms were spacious and lovely - full of light and gracefully decorated. Luis, the Guest Manager, could not have been more helpful and friendly and the entire staff was lovely. The hotel and gardens are immaculately kept and a very easy 7 minute walk to the Centro and Cathedral. Breakfast every day in the courtyard!"
