"It was a great relief to me that our pet friendly room had no lingering oder or pet hair from previous pets, it was quite clean and nicely furnished The grounds were also tidy and easy to walk the dog the area was quiet and safe My only disappointment was the breakfast which was not attended to and replenished there was no actual 1/2 and 1/2 no yogurt granola or fruit, both the eggs and milk ran out before breakfast was over. I did find the staff to be friendly especially when we arrived. "
"Clean hotel, nice staff, the room was clean and updated. We brought our little dog which they put us in a room right next to the grassy area for my dog to do his business. It was perfect. This location was 50 minutes away from the snow and our snowmobiling reservation. We didn't have to be worried about getting snowed in if a storm hit."
"The room was very nice, clean and looked updated. We stayed on backside and was a very quiet night, no road noise or other noise. Bed was very comfortable as well. Owner and workers very pleasant. I highly recommend staying here and when back in area we will definitely stay again."

"This place was overall, decent. Rooms were rather clean, common areas were pleasant, and it felt just fine. Didn’t mind staying here one bit - especially since the rooms were so oversized and comfortable. WiFi worked great and there was always parking - even though the lot seemed to be taken over by motorcycle groups with tents. On the note of the motorcycle people - they do need to bunker down on them a bit. The hotel allows them to party in the lot, and even worse, drag race bikes out back in the lot. I was leaving in my car and almost hit a guy on his bike who was burning out in the lot (right in my path)! Not safe for either of us. Breakfast is limited, just so you know. They do offer some unique homemade donuts which is fun and nice, but no alternative options if you are dieting (as I was) or diabetic. Some fruit or even toast options would have been helpful, and I am sure I am not the only one who has felt this way. They do have, though, nice flavored waters in the lobby all day long (strawberry, cucumber, lime, etc). It was nice to have a variety option each day, too. I would stay here again - that I can safely say! I travel extensively for my work and I make it a point to use TripAdvisor for assisting me with locating the best properties for the best prices. As my way of returning back to the TripAdvisor community, I review EVERY hotel I stay in - both the good and the bad - assuring you that you are getting my honest and accurate descriptions and experiences. "
"We stayed here for our recent ski trip to Bear Valley. We had the king room with the living room area. The location was great - Murphys was the cutest town with lots of restaurants, shopping, and wine tasting. We also visited Moaning Cavern, Angel's Camp and Sonora, which were close and easy to drive to from Murphys. The room was comfortable - plenty of room. It was nice having a mini fridge and microwave, coffee maker, and I liked that the bathroom sink was outside the bathroom. The furniture was old - our couch seemed really old - and the red carpet was dated - but I wasn't really expecting a modern hotel room in the middle of Gold Country. Not sure if all the rooms have the TV's upgraded, but we had flat screen TV's in our room - not the tube TV's that are shown on their website photos. The donuts and OJ delivered to your room in the morning was a cute touch. The staff was attentive, when I mentioned to the front desk that the garbage cans outside were overflowing, he got up right away and took care of it. I would definitely stay there again if I was up in the area."
"This was a one night stay to visit Calaveras State Park. It is very convenient to the park as it is on Highway 4. The suite was good for the 6 of us. The room was clean and comfortable. The kids enjoyed the pool. I'm glad that I had a beach blanket as they had removed all the chairs, and I'm glad they had a small grassy area as it would've been uncomfortable to sit on concrete. Distancing is vital however I don't understand why there couldn't be a few chairs spread apart for people who weren't swimming to sit on. But again - glad I had a blanket! The young lady at the front desk was very kind and nice. She let me use a wine bottle opener which I appreciated. I would stay here again!"

"It is always interesting when you travel to places you remembered as a child and as I checked into the Gunn house hotel I was met with a nostalgic moment of remembering parades and warm summer nights and the easy smiles of folks who remembered your dad or family members and the beauty of those easy conversations over a cup of tea on the veranda..the Gunn house managed by ray made my visit the highlight of my trip . The property is in perfect repair . The patio gardens and pool reminded me of my grandmothers place where it was magical. the attention to the rooms with there charm and beauty made me so happy that i came back home and tried this property again . Many Years ago at least 10 or so I had stayed at the property and at that time it was in need of some love and attention and the feeling reflected in the property. Today under rays management the property flourishes and it’s abundance will not disappoint . For those wanting to enjoy charm and a signature veranda choose the upstairs balcony room 14 is my favorite . Have a cup of tea in a rocking chair and watch the world drive by .. every one of the locals has a rich story as does this beautiful hotel and those that keep it in mint condition . Best to ray see you in August!"
"Came into Sonora for work. Stayed at Gunn House. It was awesome. Property is very clean, rooms are nice and Ray at the front desk was great. He is very personable and went out of his way to make sure my stay was great. I checked in late as I was working late and waited for me. The bed was super comfortable as well. I would highly recommend Gunn House. I will for sure stay there again when Im back in town."
"The sign says a historic hotel and indeed it is. Most of the rooms are nicely decorated with comfortable beds. It has more of a feel of a bed and breakfast rather then a hotel. Breakfast is provided. Homemade muffins, reads, and gingerbread was a treat. The hot meal casserole dish was skimpy and only lasted for a half hour after opening. Ray was very helpful and offered to change our room when there was no plug available for my C-pap machine. Parking lot could be improved (dirt and gravel)."

"This must be one of the cleanest hotel rooms we’ve stayed in! Amazing. The housekeepers service was excellent—and they were nice! The floors are wood laminate even on the second floor, but we hardly heard any noise. Just early in morning by guests who walk down the hallway and talk loudly, not realizing. The suites are cool because there is a half wall that separates the sitting area from the bedroom. They put the tv remote in a bag to make or keep it clean too! BW Cedar In was a great place to spend the night while exploring the historical area. "
"Best Western Cedar Inn-Angels Camp, CA, did NOT live up to our expectations. We were not told at time of reservation, that swimming pool and gym was closed, and, breakfast was basic, bags handed out to us, and a certain male member of staff was rude, indifferent, with no customer service, and seemed hostile towards his fellow employees. The only reason we stayed 2 nights, was because our other reservation at a mountain resort was cancelled due to a closure from new fire, and asked for 2nd night. The toilets do not flush well at all, (good luck with a #2). Plus, brown stuff smeared on bathroom light switch, dirt on inside of front door, 3 holes in the wall, smelly and torn pillow cases, as if maids, had not changed sheets, noisy air conditioning. Loud people, music both nights with strong smells of cigarettes & marijuana wafting through the hotel. Only 1 woman in her 40's or 50's had excellent customer service. Sorry, we did not get her name. "
"We arrived earlier then expected. The staff was very accommodating! Breakfast choices were awesome. The family was very impressed with the room; was very clean and great internet reception. Pool and spa were nice size as well. Check in & checkout was easy."

"Stayed 12/29/18 for 2nights mainly due to last minute availability to get away and to visit the Sierras for a bit of snow (plus everything dog friendly was booked). Chosen due to being dog friendly and ease of access to hwy 108 and various other sights. We have stayed before on long road trips but have never really found it to be ideal, other than price & staff being uber friendly, kind and generous. We were placed in a room behind the motel. Convenient to unpack and park. Outside there was a 'parked' car (with 4 flats & cobwebs, obviously not moved for a while) & further down a pick up parked which looked like a homeless truck, full to the brim, hood slightly ajar as though being worked on, car parts under it.... The rooms closest to this truck seemed to have 'permanent' residents in them (or so it seems). Somewhat loud as folks decided to chat outside their rooms at 2300 hrs, (not unusual for motels) having a beer, but without concern for other guests. Walking the dogs we came across a guy sitting on a patch of grass at the back of the motel drinking beer (early a.m.) friendly, but we felt uncomfortable. Again walking the dogs in the a.m. a female was overheard yelling at her partner in a room, then came outside to question us re whether "we could hear those women speaking", there were no other people present at the time of her asking ..... it was like experiencing a mini psych unit. Over all it was just an uncomfortable atmosphere. The room was basic, VERY basic, which seems to be the case for most pet parents. Plus you get the privilege of paying for your dog(s) to stay but with absolutely no amenities for them. The room did have coffee, microwave and fridge, the bed had sheets (one stained) one blanket and a small decorative strip of material at the foot of the bed, but was small for us all. First impression was it’s ok but on further inspection not so. Please see PHOTOS ... front desk check in was helpful and only charged us for one night versus two,for our 4 medium size doggies, and we were very appreciative of that. Location is good."
"Booked this room last minute to see a concert at nearby Black Oak Casino. Buddy & I figured "all we're gonna do is sleep there, so wtf." The only positive was that the sheets & bathroom were clean. Room had slight musty/mold smell. Two beds yet only one set of towels so I had to go get a second set. When in office I noticed the breakfast area. Uh, one small coffee pot. I also could see in the back the commercial laundry machines. Bed was horrible. Super spongy soft and it sagged. I didn't dare sit on the couch as it looked old and in same condition as bed. And the place was super expensive IMO. Granted, it was Labor Day weekend, and a concert night, but it totaled over $160 for a two bed room."
"The rooms are in a bad shape, Got an electric shock when I wanted to upload my cellphone. The hotelkeeper is very friendly - felt sorry for her because she has to run such a bad place. If you want to stay in Sonora choose one of the hotels located downtown. Sonora is a very cozy town."

"We stayed here 2 nights. It was clean & comfortable, good location for all of the town of Murphy’s. I left a device behind & was contacted later that day. Unfortunately we had traveled a pretty long distance by that time. The Inn offered to mail this to me. The following day they obtained the cost for USPS & called me. After sending a check the device was returned in 10 days. Thank you Murphy’s Inn Motel. Nice to know that honesty still exists!"
"Just wanted a place to sleep for a couple of nights while we spent our days hiking in Big Trees State Park and this place was perfect. Friendly staff, nice, clean room and a big jar of Oreo cookies at the front desk that was never empty! Right on Main Street so a nice stroll to restaurants and shops."
"We had a very pleasant experience at the Murphys Inn Motel. Everything was in walking distance and the people were great. We would definitely recommend staying there. There is a really good breakfast place almost in the same parking lot as well."
