Plaza de los Cocoteros, 2,San Agustin, San Agustin, Canary Islands, Spain
"Stayed for a week with the primary aims of relaxing and getting some winter sun. The location is ideal for both, next to an extensive sandy beach and with long walks possible along the promenade outside the hotel. Most rooms have impressive sea views. Rooms are clean and spacious with all the facilities you would expect although there was a very limited amount of tea and coffee available in the room which was not replenished unless you paid extra. In parts the decor is getting a little tired but we considered this part of the hotel’s character. The 2 pools and surrounding areas were well maintained and never overcrowded. As there are numerous restaurants nearby we only had breakfast at the hotel. Service was always prompt and polite. There was a wide range of food available on a buffet basis reflecting the range of different nationalities the hotel caters for. San Agustin is much quieter than the larger resorts further down the coast. The airport, Las Palmas and all of the coastal resorts can be accessed by the local buses that are cheap, efficient and mostly very new. When we arrived we were welcomed with a glass of Cava and on my birthday presented with a bottle of sparkling wine; nice touches! Definitely recommended if you want a relaxing break in a relatively small hotel with a beach location"
"The location of the hotel was beautiful. The pool area looked out to the sea, and spectacular view from room. The hotel had a very relaxed and peaceful atmosphere especially the reception. When we arrived we were greeted by a very nice receptionist who was friendly and pleasent. We had a glass of wine, booked into our room, given lots of advice and information The room was clean and plenty big enough for the two of us. It was very clean the whole of our stay. We brought our own kettle but you can hire one. There is a fridge for your personal use. The meals were very good and some nights there would be a bbq or one night A Gala evening which was very good.Entertainment every evening which was good. The restauant staff I found very friendly and professional. I left my bag one evening and the waiter returned it to reception, I would like to thank all for their honesty. I choose the hotel to relax and unwind and this is what was provided. My husband would have lkied more going on, but for me it was perfect!"
"Hotel is literally a stone's throw from the beach. The double room with balcony and sea view was spacious and comfortable. Air-con very effective. All staff very helpful and courteous. Nice promenade runs for about 5 miles towards Maspalomas - great for walking or jogging. Best thing? - the food! Being a vegetarian can be a bit of a pain when looking for somewhere to have an evening meal abroad. The hotel couldn't have been more helpful - it was a set 5 course meal every evening i.e. no choice, but the standard and variety was fantastic with a veggie option for every course. Well worth it. The only negative thing to say about the hotel is the poor standard of gym equipment - 1 bike, 1 cross-trainer and 1 treadmill in a warm room with no air-con. Otherwise I would highly recommend the hotel and the resort"

"The Bohemia is a beautiful hotel, the 360 restaurant looking over the maspalomas dunes is really gorgeous. I stayed for 5 nights, in an ocean view deluxe room and slept incredibly well - the bed and black out blinds are great. Worth the extra spend for the double sunbed and sea / dunes view from the balcony. The rooms are well designed and unique with great technology (tv,ipad, sound system). Apart from never being able to master the coffee machine in my room I had a perfect stay! The hotel has done very well to put into to place protective ways to manage Covid-19, for example booking gym slots. I felt safe but the measures were not intrusive - well done Bohemia! The hotel has a really relaxed and welcoming vibe, and the staff are friendly and very accommodating. Would definitely recommend and would return."
"Very pleasant stay, in well decorated, functional and comfortable rooms. Brilliant start of the day in beautiful views of the beach and dunes, delicious breakfast and friendly service. Well selected fun and relaxing activities to chose from during the day. Excellent location 5min fro the beach and other shopping and entertainment areas. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice pool area for a relaxing sun bathing with a good selection of well priced food and drinks."
"The rooms are great, the top floor restaurant (where breakfast is served) is wonderful with amazing views, the staff is very helpful and friendly. We went there in november and the hotel was understaffed so that we sometimes needed to go look for personnel when at the pool bar or reception. Breakfast was served because of corona, it was ok, not great. Dinner at 360 restaurant is ok, not great. Which is a pity because it has such a nice view. Many other options available for dining on the island."

Avenida de Tirajana, 32,(entrada por C/ Timple), Playa del Ingles, Canary Islands, Spain
"Location: 2 mins away from the yumbo centre. Aspect: east facing, the sun provides great poolside sunbathing well into the late afternoon. Reception: very quick and efficient, the lady who checked us in and out was great, had a lovely professional persona and a lovely warm smile. Room: great one bedroom spot, west facing, meaning sunshine late afternoon. The room facilities were great, with the exception of an iron, I’d say perfect (iron could easily be requested from reception). Mini bar well stocked and a great selection of drinks. The bathroom has a great power shower and lovely free soaps, moisturisers and tannin sachets. Nice touch. Very comfortable and much better than many in maspolomas. Spa/gym: looked great, did not use them, but had I stayed longer would have definitely. Pool: big, very/impeccably clean with Chrisp cool water. Great loungers, great cover should you wish, beds and tables. Very well organised. Pool bar: great, efficient, great selection of food and drinks. Incorporated breakfast and dinner lounge, really clean and lovely. Communal areas: very clean and the gardens are really lovely and well maintained. Staff: outstanding friendly cleaners, reception, maintenance, bar/restaurant etc I will be back, I loved the place and everything about it, definitely a great hotel to stay at if your gay or hetro, everyone is discrete and it’s just a lovely safe place to stay and party. We had one night of very noisy neighbours and it was dealt with within 10 mins of me reporting it to reception, outstanding, absolutely well managed, was delighted! Make sure once this virus situation passes to support this hotel, it’s a real great place, I cannot support it enough. Best of wishes and hope you guys all get through this horrible situation "
"The Axel Beach is the gay central hotel in Maspalomas. I've stayed at the Axel hotels in Barcelona and my expectations were high. Unfortunately this one is basic. First impressions are not great: an outhouse reception designed to keep out ahem visitors staffed with a mix of friendly and not so friendly staff. You walk from there to an old fashioned looking hotel which Axel has bought and slapped fresh paint on. You get to the lift and walk past a variety of passive aggressive notices (no visitors in rooms! No alcohol allowed to be brought to rooms!). The rooms themselves are a reasonable size. I had a pool facing room which had a kitchenette, bathroom with a shower (no bath) , sofa and table and a double bedroom. Furnishings are basic and could have been much nicer. Bizarrely the hotel does not provide soap, just shampoo and shower gel. Given we're in the midst of covid and supposed to be handwashing this is bizarre; I wouldn't expect to have to buy soap for a hotel stay. Being British it would be nice if the kitchennette had a kettle but it had a saucepan and that was sufficient. Maybe you can get one as an extra. I was working and the table and wifi was good for that. All the power (and wifi) went off one morning but it came back on within a few minutes. Rooms are a bit noisy but the walls were thick enough for workmates on zoom not to hear the moans of pleasure from next door. The pool area is a good size with a reasonable number of beds for off season. Pool bar is good. The pool and large jacuzzi are unheated. The gym is ok and wasn't too busy. If you're there to meet people there were 3 pages of people on grindr at the hotel. I paid around 65 euro a night and there is no way in the world I would pay much more than that a night so if you're going for Pride and being asked to pay a lot more don't expect it to be value for money. Although undoubtedly it'll be fun."
"The hotel is well positioned, 5 minutes from the Yumbo centre. The pool is large and has several cabana’s along one end, section for sun lounges at the other and some large round beds dotted around as well. They also have a jacuzzi and sauna located to the side - happy hour is Mon-Thurs 3-7. The down side of the pool is the building blocks the afternoon soon and by 4pm the pool was fully in the shade. The bedroom was clean and basic, tiny kitchen area, comfortable bed and has a good shower. The road side rooms get afternoon sun on the balcony but the noise from the road is not good for relaxing. We were concerned about the noise on the room, but with the window and door closed we couldn’t hear anything. The air conditioning was great! Daily cleaning service and fresh towels. Towels also provided for the pool at the pool bar. Check in and check out was simple and quick. The Gym was small but fine. The only negative would be they allow Day guests enter and use the facilities and on a busy day it can be hard to get space around the pool. "

"During the COVD pandemic we were unsure what to expect. The hotel was meticulously clean throughout all areas, and all COVID measures were active and apparent. Location: Directly on the beach - steps from the sand. You were able to walk for miles long the lovely sandy bay. We managed around 4 miles each way, but could have gone further. It was about 25 minutes walk to Playa del Ingles and a further 5 minutes to the start of the sand dunes. Sea warm enough to swim in in November! Having walked extensively we found this hotel location and beach area to be our favourite. Parking - free parking just to the side of the hotel. Paid parking also available. Bedrooms: We had a top floor premium room. Views were amazing. Room spacious and terrace had a table and chairs and two sun loungers. The bath room area was modern and intergral to the room which did mean the toilet was only divided by obscurred glass - but not an issue for us. Bathrobes, slippers, safety deposit box, fridge and hairdryer in room. We asked for a kettle and this was provided with no issue. Rooms were cleaned daily, although we opted to have them cleaned every other day. Restaurant: Choice of outside and inside seating with all tables socially distanced. It was warm enough to eat outside for all meals without a jacket. Breakfast- Good variety of fresh fruit, juices, breads, pastries, cooked buffet, plus freshly cooked eggs and omlettes. Champagne available every morning. Lunch - selection of salads, hot buffet, desserts and cheeses and freshly cooked meat and fish option every day. Dinner - salad selction, occassional themed starter (cold meats, sushi) , pasta station, hot buffet selection, desserts and cheeses and freshly cooked meat and fish selction. We were on fully inclusive for 10 days and found the variety fine throughout our stay, I particularly loved the fresh fish options. Drinks attentively refilled. Bar: Great bar service. Cava and cocktails (freshly made) available all day, aperol spritz etc. All top shef brands including Bombay sapphire and Jack Daniels available on F/I. Cake available mid afternoon. Pool - 2 pools - one infinity which we preferred, although slightly cooler than the main pool, still able to comfortably swim in November. Main pool (larger and seemed warmer). Premium rooms had access to another area with soft comfy beds on a raised terrace. Pools towles avilable and exchangeable as required. Gym - small but functional gym. Due to covid was necessary to pre book, which was good as it meant you had the gym to yourself. Towels, water and sanitising materials provided. Spa - didn't use the spa (although included in the premium room). Price offers seemed very reasonable and would have liked to have used if we had more time. Staff - fantastic!! All staff were friendly, helpful and very attentive. Big thank you to Jennifer, Terre, Juan and sorry I can't remember their names but the two bar men - maybe enlarge badge names. Overall: An amazing, restful tri"
"My partner and I stayed at the hotel for a week in February for some winter sun.. The hotel is lovely and situated right on the beach. Upon arrival we were checked in but had to leave our bags in a room as our room wasn’t ready yet . We went for lunch on the terrace and enjoyed the sunshine, view and excellent food. Our room was one of the duplex suites and was absolutely superb. We had two bathrooms , and a fantastic terrace, which we used to sit on to enjoy the sun with drinks. The room was clean and spacious, we loved the turn down service and chocolates. Especially on Valentines night. The toiletries were excellent and we both slept very well in the comfortable beds , although a double bed would have been preferable. The food in the main restaurant was good but we found it a bit repetitive, even though it was of an excellent standard. One night we went out as we wanted to be waited on and not have buffet food. The choices at breakfast were excellent and we loved the array of juices and smoothies , and of course the Cava too, what better way to start the day!. The bar staff were excellent and they looked after us very well indeed. The evening entertainment was ok however it was not very lively on some evenings We had superb weather so enjoyed walks along the beach and promenade. The holiday was just what we needed and we would recommend the hotel. We will be returning for more sun ☀️."
"My wife and I had a week at the Don Gregory in February and loved every minute. Our room was very large and well equipped, and the whole of the hotel exuded a sense of relaxation and luxury without being "over the top" The sandy beach is right in front of the hotel but we preferred the large immaculate pool area, well equipped with more than enough comfortable sun loungers, most of the time. You can walk along the long sea side promenade, which passes right in front of the hotel, and there are plenty of shops and bars a bit further along if you need them. The food was excellent and the hotel also has entertainment each night in a separate lounge/bar area."

"What a fabulous view across the caldera from our bedroom...and all the bedrooms. At 1,450 metres you can be above some of the clouds! From your balcony you can watch the weather patterns unfold, continually changing the view. Well it did when we were there with the mist rolling in in the evening. As with all paardors, the furnishings are sublime. Beautifully chosen classic pieces. The lounge was huge and atmospheric but cosy as the scattered sofas made it more intimate. The bedoom was beautiful but restrained too. The dining room was a large vaulted room. If I had to fault anything, it would be the enormous size of the food porions - but that is a feature of Canary Islands cuisine."
"The 2 of us have just stayed for 3 nights at this amazing Parador. The views are simply breathtaking, we had a room with a view as far as Tenerife and were blessed with great weather the whole time we were there. We cannot understand previous criticism of the staff, we found them all to be friendly and efficient. We opted for half board, and found the food choice excellent. The restaurant was very busy at times and the staff were working really hard to just maintain a good level of service, perhaps they were a little understaffed? One rather strange fact was although reception had an iron to borrow there was no ironing board! All in all a great stay at a wonderful location."
"The situation, rooms and view are fantastic BUT the service in the dining room is poor. Waited nearly an hour for indifferent food to be served in the evening. Understaffed and unsupervised. Breakfast good but again no supervision so tables not cleared and staff laying tables for later meals instead of making breakfast a pleasant experience for guests and replenishing food. Maintenance of building poor. We were there for 4 nights and told reception that the light by the stairs was not working. Told reception each day and this was never repaired. Watched a guest stumble down the stairs in the dark carrying a suit case. Told reception that slippery bath tub was a hazard since no non slip surface and no safety mat. Reception agreed this was hazard but no remedy offered. Again reception staff are unsupervised and speak very poor English. One result was that the booking I made for the spa on arrival was incorrectly made by reception. In short if all you want is a view you will not be disappointed but don't expect much more."

"I enjoyed my stay here much more than I expected to. The bungalow was a good size and well equipped. We spent most of our time outside on our patio and lawn and this was a fairly private area, although people do pass by on their way to their own bungalows. We didn’t use the indoor dining area, it did seem a bit basic and probably not very comfortable. It was mostly adults staying at the resort and it was very quiet which was great. The grounds were well looked after by gardeners. I enjoyed watching birds hopping about in the trees and hedges. The collared doves do get a bit too close though in their search for crumbs! The location is excellent with bus stops on the street outside and a ten minute walk to the very varied choice of restaurants in the Yumbo centre. There is a small supermarket close by. I was surprised that our bedding wasn’t changed during a week long stay, most places change after 3 or 4 days. The chap on reception when we checked in couldn’t have been less interested. A welcome would have been nice. Similarly it would have been nice to have been asked if we’d enjoyed our stay on departure. We didn’t use the cafe or pool and therefore didn’t have interaction with any other staff, apart from the cleaners who were very pleasant and could give reception staff a few lessons on how to smile. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the stay here. It was very relaxing and I would definitely stay here again. "
"I went last year and it was amazing, the hotel staff were really polite and welcoming. The bungalows themselves were clean, safe and very much made me and my family feel like we were relaxing at home but in a different part of the world. Loved it! Recommend staying there! We’re planning on going back in 2021 and it’s mainly just because of these bungalows!"
"Stayed here for a week in mid February 2020, a family of 4 (2 boys 10 and 14 years of age) The bungallows have 2 separate bedrooms and adequate space in the living room. The terrace a nice space to enjoy the weather, after having spent some time at the fantastic pool area. Tips: 1) Next door there is a Hyperdino supermarket which opens at 8:00, with fresh bread, orange juice for you to buy a perfect breakfast. 2) Right next door there is a car rental which have good prices for a day rental. (from €35,- incl. full insurance) 3) The Dunas of Maspalomas is a must see. Go for a walk from Playa del Ingles to Meloneras and have a lunch there and grab a bus return."

"Check in - excellent Room - 608 view of pool, spotlessly clean, kettle and toiletries supplied, you can order tea coffee milk. Complementary water, fruit and a small wine in the room on arrival. Lovely white towels, bathrobes and slippers in the superior rooms. You are given a ticket to take to pool for towels they’re nice and big for the sun beds. Also given tickets for the wellness centre, we didn’t go in but will next time. Food, amazing lots of choice and always piping hot. Drinks are mostly branded so lovely to enjoy an all inclusive drink that tastes as it should. The hotel is spotless everywhere you go and so peaceful. We had the best holiday and very relaxing. The staff- always very helpful and everything serviced with a smile, they do a fantastic job in all departments. I can highly recommend this hotel and hope to go back soon. "
"This hotel is a little gem absolutely a one off!! location is fantastic 5 minute walk to the beach and shops. the restaurant food is amazing and so fresh and so much to choose from. the rooms are kept very clean the staff are absolutely fantastic and so friendly. we have been to this hotel now at least eight or nine times over the last three years this year is the only year we haven’t been able to go because of the virus and my God have we missed it. Because of quarantine rules we ended up going to Turkey and staying in a five star golf resort hotel which is nothing compared to seaside sandy beach and we cannot wait to come and book and come and see you again., thank you for everything that you do you are the best hotel ever. "We stayed for a week with our 10 month old daughter. The room was well appointed and immaculately clean. We did have visits from a couple of cockroaches during the week but they were easily dealt with and by no means a problem. The rooms were tidied and bins emptied daily, with change of bedding and towels twice during our stay. We were facing the pool which meant it was nice and quiet at night but we didn’t get any sun on our terrace or balcony during the day. The pool and surrounding area was fantastic. It was really well maintained throughout the day. Plenty of sun loungers although limited shade options on busy days. Kids pool was small but as it was fairly quiet that wasn’t a problem for us. The 2 main pools were huge and the heated one very welcome earlier in the day! We had the buffet meal on our arrival evening which was expensive but very good with lots of options. We also ate lunch from the bar menu once which was also very good. It was a pain that food was not available all day, from memory breakfast stopped at 10 and then lunch was from 12:30. With a young child who tends to want lunch earlier than that it meant I had to cook or we had to go out. Not a huge amount very close by (although there is an excellent Lebanese restaurant in close proximity), it’s a nice walk down to the lighthouse (took us 30mins with a buggy) where there are plenty of restaurants and bars. It was about the same time to walk in to Playa des Ingles too but we weren’t so keen on it there (not quite as baby friendly). The on-site shop had all the basics needed but there are plenty of shops nearby and a Lidl only 7mins drive away. We took a day trip to Anfi del Mar beach which which was lovely and would highly recommend. Playa de las Melonares beach was also lovely, quieter than Maspalomas beach and a bit more accessible with the buggy. "
"We chose this location based on Jet2 information for our first visit to Gran Canaria. It fulfilled the purpose with easy bus transport further along the south coast e.g. Porto Mogan and up the east coast to Las Palmas. Our (two storey!) bungalow was maintained, with living room/kitchen area downstairs and ensuite bedroom above, overlooking (through trees and chain-link fence the golf course. The bungalow was cleaned every day except Sunday with frequent changes of linen/towels etc, even sunbathing towels provided. The reception staff were very helpful and answered all our questions re. local facilities/buses etc competently and fixed a day's car hire with zero fuss. The mini-market kept a good range of basic items including fresh bread every morning. Public buses to Las Palmas and other destinations stop about 200 metres away outside the Golf Club. Local restaurants include the Rustico (top tapas) about 5 minutes walk and the Broncemar (at the Faro 2 Centre (10 minutes - don't be put off by the sad, deserted state of the Centre - it also has a Hiper Dino Supermarket pharmacy and other bars and eateries). Only criticism concerns the restaurant; we ate there on our first night and were not impressed by my "Cordon Bleu" (average) or by my wife's unrecognisable lasagne ( little/no meat, no sauce, mainly odd fluffy pasta); my sauce arrived halfway through the meal and there was no house wine except in mini-bottles. We didn't go back!."
"Recently had a 10 night stay for our family of 7, we had a newly refurbed 1 bed villa and an old-fashioned 2 bed villa. The 1 bed villa was bigger than the 2 bed! If you are a family of 4-5 you will easily fit in the cheaper 1 bed, this was modern and lovely! The 2 bed was very old-fashioned you could not swing a cat in the kitchen area as the stairs cover most of the cooking area, i defo wouldnt book an old fashioned villa again. During our stay one half of the complex was closed as the workmen are updating the villas so maybe in time they will all be modern & spacious. There is a little park for the little ones, and usually they would have some childrens entertainment but due to covid it was closed and very quiet onsite due to UK travel restrictions. Rooms were cleaned every other day. Spanish guests like to use this hotel at weekends, there seemed to be a bit of a party atmosphere on 1 of our weekends. I would stay again but only in a modern villa. My kids loved the pool!"

"CORONAVIRUS. What can you say. We hope all are safe and well. It's been an unfortunate week for all concerned. We flew to Gran Canaria and the Sandy Golf bungalows last week for our annual visit. We were there only one day before the local government put everything into lockdown. For six days we were only allowed out to the supermarket. The pool and bar had to be closed and we were confined to the bungalow. This was our 40th wedding anniversary and not what we were expecting. Not being allowed out for meals to the sea etc, was very disappointing. BUT... We cannot give enough praise to all concerned at Sandy Golf. From reception, cleaners, gardeners, maintenance all of whom carried on in a very professional manner, tears from the cleaning ladies. They still made us feel like guests under very difficult circumstances. Many , I believe, fearing for their jobs and future. We were one of the last couples to leave on Friday, the remaining few to be moved to Green Golf as Sandy Golf was closing for the forseable future. Our thoughts are with everyone at this sad time and send all our best wishes to you all. We will be back. Such a beautiful place which anyone who has visited, I'm sure will agree."
"Due to sandstorm in Gran Canaria we were sent here for 1 night before we were able to fly home. Lovely wee accommodation. Would definitely book to come here for actual holiday. Two TV's that actually work. Clean everything inside and out. Cat lovers paradise. No washing machine but you can always improvise on holidays. Own front terrace equipped with sunbeds and table and chairs. Massive pool area. It's rated 1* but it's definitely more like 3*. Staff very efficient and polite. Shopping centre and restaurants are only a 10 minute walk."
"Just arrived home after 18 nights here. It was very quite but very safe and as beautiful as ever. They take COVID 19 vey seriously and adequate measures are in place. We have been here over 40 times and it really is beautiful. A big shout to Raffael and Jennifer on reception and to the two lifeguards who were constantly sanitising the sun-beds and ensuring guests had their masks on. Any issues were dealt with quickly."
