Reviews From Real Travelers
I wanted to love this place! I wouldn’t have traveled to the middle of nowhere had I thought I would have had un unsatisfactory visit. My expectation was to have a relaxing spa weekend. I went directly to the spa for my first service after check in. The staff were very warm and friendly but I was very disappointed with the facial. I paid 110€ basically for mud to sit and dry on my face for an hour. No shoulder massage during. After the spa was dinner time. I emailed 4 days before my arrival for a reservation. I was told to wait 30 min when I arrived there was only one other table. The food was another disappointment but based on other reviews I read this wasn’t a big surprise. I started with a cold eggplant parmigiana really lacking flavor, the pasta was a heavy butter sauce overly salty. Well, time for a good nights rest. I tuck into my suit which I paid to for an upgrade. The bed was too firm for my backs liking. I woke the next day with a painful back I thought I would go to the spa for a massage but based on the previous day thought I would be left with another disappointment. I decided to call it quits and check out early. As a compensation to not leave I was offered a complimentary cheese board. I really didn’t feel like stuffing myself with cheese after this disappointing stay so I left the cheese behind packed my bags and headed out of town. Overall, the hotel has potential to be great. The renovations were beautifully done. Perhaps lacking a bit of soul with the decorations but with proper management and design a well trained spa team it could be great. Wish you the best but this time was a big flop.

Amazing hotel. The renovation of this ancient military hospital is absolutely stunning. There is nothing to say on the hotel itself but that it’s gorgeous. However, the service is not up to standards of a 4 star hotel. With exception to the bartender who was extremely friendly, the staff is primarily composed on very young adults, uninterested, who need to be urgently trained. We have not seen anyone senior, no Hotel Manager in charge of the customers, and their well-being while on stay. Similarly, the restaurant La Galerie is a nice brasserie but not a gastronomic - as they pretend when you make the reservation. It’s such a shame as the building itself is really fantastic. A bit of customer care would make all the difference.

Our team had to stay for a business trip at the Mercure for one night. it was our second time there and once again we were welcomed wonderfully, the staff is so friendly and willing to help - concrete example is from the hotel manager who saved us on our next morning as we were about to miss our train due to a late taxi and who did not hesitate to run to his personal car and bring us to the train station like a real super hero :) we were so grateful.. Rooms are perfect, spacious and super comfy with very large beds. I personally love the Nuxe honey shower gel & shampoo that really makes the shower moment at the end of a long day really sweet. And of course, probably the best part, the breakfast buffet that is excellent - so much CHOICE ! And everything tastes perfect especially before a really long day (eggs, bacon, cereals, fresh bread, pain au chocolat,...). Would love to come back if I get the opportunity to! Thank you to the team for making our business trips really sweet and cozy.

The hotel is ideally located and the lobby is beautiful especially ready for Christmas ambience : whaou effect guaranteed! Our standard room was much more sweet, though large and colder, in the way in which we were setting the temperature of the heating system. The bathroom block -wc -seater does not seem to have been modernized as the rest of the room... the most annoying was the toilets whose urine smell has persisted despite the efforts of the staff to make it disappear and the bathroom that proved to be be closed the next morning before our departure. We made our room card without having been able to explain it to us since there was no one at the reception at the time of our departure... It was Christmas, we won't do a drama... Globally we have sleeped well because the litter is good and the lit is a large width, which is finally may be the essential.

Reviews From Real Travelers
The hotel is nice but, plainly speaking, it was a hot day and we purposely chose this hotel due to the swimming pool. So when we arrived on 2nd August this year, which was a blistering hot day with over 35 degrees outside, with 2 young children in tow, keen to stay a night in a hotel with a pool on our journey to Austria, we were nonchalantly informed at reception that the pool was being fixed and was therefore unavailable on that day. Imagine the disappointment after a long journey on one of the hottest days of the year. We had even booked an option to cancel until 6pm on arrival, so a short email to inform us would have been much appreciated - either to lower the expectations of our tired, bored and overheated children, or just to book somewhere else on our way. The hotel does not mention air conditioning, so we didn't expect much, but the rooms were absolutely boiling and the fan that was in the room did nothing to cool it down. There is an 'air cooling unit' in the room but after trying to get it going and turning to reception for help we were - again quite nonchalantly - informed that this cooling unit wasn't working and they were waiting for a part to fix it. I'm intrigued after reading other reviews, as this seems to have been an issue for at least 2 years? I guess it really is time to get this sorted? The windows only let more hot air in, the aforementioned fan that was provided just moved the hot air from one end of the room to the other, and the temperature in the room finally went below 30 degrees some time after midnight, which gave us quite a short and unpleasant night of sleep. As mentioned in other reviews, I also noticed that there were very thick duvets on the bed which we instantly removed and put on the shelf. The bed sheets were more than enough and more attentive staff would have just not put them on the bed int he first place. All in all I don't blame the hot weather, rather the indifference of the staff towards their customers in a heat wave. I would have appreciated some kind of apology, maybe even an email prior to our stay to warn us that the pool is shut, and a room that is prepared for heat: for example, no duvets, curtains that had been left shut to keep the heat out, maybe a room on the shady side of the building, an offer for a free cold drink at the bar...there are myriads of ways to show your good will! As I said at the beginning, the hotel is nice, I like the reception area, the children's corner, all of it is nice, but the staff was just so demotivated and indifferent towards exhausted and overheated travellers in the face of the issues they were having (and not mentioning until they were queried), that this really spoiled our experience. The change has to come from the management: Proper communication towards customers and staff training, in order to deal with unforeseen (or quite predictable heat related) circumstances, and some investment towards the infrastructure in the hotel, because a worki

A small but decent hotel, located in the centre of Valenciennes directly opposite the main railway station. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and dealt with everything I needed. The breakfast was a typical goo French affair - a buffet of fresh pastries, bread & cheese, plus a few cooked items, juice and of course coffee! There is no evening restaurant but that's not a problem as there are several good places nearby. The room was pretty normal, clean, the layout a bit differnt to the standard modern style, but that's the nature of an older building. The bathroom was a 'wet room' with shower, WC and sink in one space which is not ideal as the floor becomes wet all the way across and can be slippery (and there is no cover to the toilet paper). It took a little more effort than usual to dry enough floor to access the sink and toilet after showering. The desk was smaller than I'd like when working, and unfortunately had a microwave occupying most of the the space - which I had to unplug and move to a corner of the floor so I could use the desk. Other than these two minor oddities, a pretty good stay, certainly comfortable for a couple of nights on a business trip.

The location of the hotel was perfect. Close to the centre of the village, next to the train station. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast in the hotel was quite diverse: hot - scrambled eggs, sausages, also cold meat, cheese, jams, yoghurt, pancakes, cereals, bread, crosant, coffee, hernata, juices, chocolate. There was something for everyone. I strongly recommend.

The staff were so, so kind and helpful with our little baby. They managed to find a bottle heater and took care of sterilizing the bottles. Good breakfast with everything you need and then some. The room was spacious, clean and the bathroom is huuuge. Spacious and enclosed parking lot, monitored 24/7. The hotel is a 6 minutes drive away from an exceptional archeological park (for kids and adults alike) and a planetarium.

Ok for a dog pension, but not a hotel! One out of two nights we have to manage dogs dresses! The hotel accepts dogs, customers leave dogs in the rooms and go for their evening and day!! The hotel is a very good place to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best way to find the best The hotel was renovated, but since all the time it was disturbed, without maintenance. It was not possible to reach the reception, the phone was broken, the light was not possible on the mirror, it was broken! The moquettes are new but sharpened.... The staff is very nice, but the management should do something.

We stayed here for one night as guests of Renault and had a very pleasant and peaceful stay. Staff were very friendly and although our room was small, it was still very comfortable. There is a small bar area in reception which is welcoming. The lift is tiny but ok for two without much luggage. At busy times it is easier to use the stairs. When it comes to breakfast, this hotel has a better selection and choice than some more expensive establishments. We were really impressed. There is a car park outside and the hotel appears to be in a central location. Well worth staying here if in the area!

We came to spend a few days in Valencia that we love very much. We chose a kitchenette room so that we do not have to take our breakfast at the hotel because of the price and always for the same reason so that we do not have to go to the restaurant at noon and evening. But in the kitchenette there is nothing but a boiler, but no cup, a refrigerator, a microwave, but no vessel, even no small stick or glass, no cooking plate, so we pay more for a service than we have, so we should come with a cooker plate, vacuum, spoon, torchons, maintenance products .... There is the refrigerator we had to cut because even if we had brought aperitif, there is no it had only tooth-shoes and above all it makes a terrible noise. The rooms are trist, under the roofs, zinc, no air conditioning, toilet/sdbain air conditioning: HS, no mosquitoes therefore not possible to open, HS head lamp not possible to repair, so impossible to read the evening when my husband was asleep. The staff is very friendly and the staff is very friendly. We are very disappointed and especially not appreciating having paid for this fake kitchenette, we had to reduce (3nuits/6) our stay because it was too expensive because of the restaurant we couldn't do.
