"Stayed here for one night's B&B, as holiday plans the following week elsewhere dashed by lockdown. The hotel was larger and plusher than I expected, just a convenient minute or two's walk from Cooden Beach railway station. It was right on the beach in a peaceful residential area - a bit less isolated than I was expecting. All the staff were friendly, efficient and smartly dressed. Room spotless, peaceful, and with a seaview and a bath, so that was great. Food delicious and good sized portions.One particular highlight for me was the room service cooked breakfast. It was the best hotel cooked beakfast that i've ever had !! All my favourite ingredients perfectly cooked !! I love fried bread, and I chose baked beans, bacon and sausages to go with it; also I requested poached eggs instead of scrambled, and that wasn't a problem.Generous portions too ! Thank you to all the staff - I wish you well."
"Great location, right on the beach, and only a short drive from Bexhill town. If the weather permits, the outdoor terrace is a great place for a drink or two. Pleasant enough hotel, but with a slightly corporate feel and some of the staff efficient but a little wooden. Reception staff were lovely and Nico (from memory) a young Romanian guy, by far and away the best waiter - with a bit more personality, but no less professionalism. The main restaurant is huge, so don’t expect intimate dining; the food was nice, and plentiful, but without too much style. Our room was clean and functional, but the decor tired, and the view awful! Admittedly a late booking, but I think there ought to be a warning or price concession, for customers who don’t particularly have an interest in roofs, cables, and multiple steel cooking or heating vents. The net curtain masked this, but opening the window exposed the view and noise associated with the plant. I raised this point via an email, and also queried why we staff could not benefit from a Sunday night discount offer (apparently we booked at the wrong time), but alas I never received a reply to these points, nor my general feedback. I said we’d stay there again, but it was disappointing not to get a response to some helpful feedback. So in summary, nearly a very nice hotel, needs a personality, and needs to listen to customers. "I have just stayed in this hotel for a couple of days to get away from London. Looked at hotel website prior to booking and it appeared to be really bright and modern. There were no warnings anywhere relevant on the website to suggest that there was no lift or that it could be problematic for people with disabilities. There were no clear warnings on the booking website either. As someone who now struggles on stairs and uses a walking aid, it was a bit of a shock and a huge disappointment to find that our room was on the second floor. On checking in I felt that my disability was obvious enough to the reception staff and when I questioned the fact that we were on the second floor, the young lady who took my payment did not deem it necessary to suggest an alternative and to be honest, I didn’t feel inclined to have to beg. To climb the stairs to get to our room was a big problem for me, especially as only one of the sets of stairs had a hand rail on both sides. On the couple of stairs directly outside our bedroom there were no hand rails at all, which really is disgraceful. This is dangerous. The room itself slept 3 comfortably and was neat and clean on arrival. The cleaning of the rooms during our stay could have been better. Empty glass water bottles not removed and an extra rubbish bag left behind. Difficult enough to see the sea view as salt was thick on the window glass. The food that we ate here, breakfast and dinner were nice enough and service was good. "
