"Stayed here for one night's B&B, as holiday plans the following week elsewhere dashed by lockdown. The hotel was larger and plusher than I expected, just a convenient minute or two's walk from Cooden Beach railway station. It was right on the beach in a peaceful residential area - a bit less isolated than I was expecting. All the staff were friendly, efficient and smartly dressed. Room spotless, peaceful, and with a seaview and a bath, so that was great. Food delicious and good sized portions. One particular highlight for me was the room service cooked breakfast. It was the best hotel cooked beakfast that i've ever had !! All my favourite ingredients perfectly cooked !! I love fried bread, and I chose baked beans, bacon and sausages to go with it; also I requested poached eggs instead of scrambled, and that wasn't a problem.Generous portions too ! Thank you to all the staff - I wish you well."
"Great location, right on the beach, and only a short drive from Bexhill town. If the weather permits, the outdoor terrace is a great place for a drink or two. Pleasant enough hotel, but with a slightly corporate feel and some of the staff efficient but a little wooden. Reception staff were lovely and Nico (from memory) a young Romanian guy, by far and away the best waiter - with a bit more personality, but no less professionalism. The main restaurant is huge, so don’t expect intimate dining; the food was nice, and plentiful, but without too much style. Our room was clean and functional, but the decor tired, and the view awful! Admittedly a late booking, but I think there ought to be a warning or price concession, for customers who don’t particularly have an interest in roofs, cables, and multiple steel cooking or heating vents. The net curtain masked this, but opening the window exposed the view and noise associated with the plant. I raised this point via an email, and also queried why we staff could not benefit from a Sunday night discount offer (apparently we booked at the wrong time), but alas I never received a reply to these points, nor my general feedback. I said we’d stay there again, but it was disappointing not to get a response to some helpful feedback. So in summary, nearly a very nice hotel, needs a personality, and needs to listen to customers. "
"I have just stayed in this hotel for a couple of days to get away from London. Looked at hotel website prior to booking and it appeared to be really bright and modern. There were no warnings anywhere relevant on the website to suggest that there was no lift or that it could be problematic for people with disabilities. There were no clear warnings on the booking website either. As someone who now struggles on stairs and uses a walking aid, it was a bit of a shock and a huge disappointment to find that our room was on the second floor. On checking in I felt that my disability was obvious enough to the reception staff and when I questioned the fact that we were on the second floor, the young lady who took my payment did not deem it necessary to suggest an alternative and to be honest, I didn’t feel inclined to have to beg. To climb the stairs to get to our room was a big problem for me, especially as only one of the sets of stairs had a hand rail on both sides. On the couple of stairs directly outside our bedroom there were no hand rails at all, which really is disgraceful. This is dangerous. The room itself slept 3 comfortably and was neat and clean on arrival. The cleaning of the rooms during our stay could have been better. Empty glass water bottles not removed and an extra rubbish bag left behind. Difficult enough to see the sea view as salt was thick on the window glass. The food that we ate here, breakfast and dinner were nice enough and service was good. "

"We came here as a grown up family of 5 and my daughter’s dog to get away for a few days. We have been absolutely blown away by the friendliness and comfort of this establishment. We arrived before our check in time and the person on reception went out of her way to check to see if we could have our rooms early, unfortunately not, they had not been deep cleaned by this stage. We did manage to check in a little later albeit still earlier than our agreed time. We had a drink in the bar and we were all looked after really well in a very friendly professional manner, including Milo the dog who was presented with a bowl of water and some fussing from the staff member. The room was very well presented and was in character of the style of the property. The bed was enormous and very comfortable, there was plenty of drawers and wardrobe space to accommodate all of my wife’s “extra” clothing and even had enough room for me to store my stuff too, bonus! The bar and lounge areas were very comfortable and allowed us all, including Milo, to sit together. We spent quite a bit of time sitting in there playing cards and other family games together, I won 2 of the games. The surrounding area was a delight to go for a dog walk and you can walk as far or not as you please. The hotel is a short drive from Seaford which is a stoney beach, Free car parking on the road on the seafront, we sat together and watched the sunset over the sea. Alfriston is a small village and offers a few restaurants and pubs. We had a meal in the hotel to celebrate a birthday, mine, and we had a lovely evening meal in the lounge as we were allowed to have the dog with us. The service was extremely friendly and the food was very good value. I recommend the sausage and mash if your there on a crisp winters day. Breakfasts were plentiful and relaxing, no rush to complete or vacate, we stayed in for a while drinking tea and enjoying our family time. To sum it up; friendly, comfortable, great area, we will return, suggest you visit. "
"Fourth visit to this lovely hotel, sadly only for one night this time. We took the half board option with Booking .com which worked out as really good value as the food here is excellent and even under covid restrictions, the quality and brilliant service is just the same. Nice touch to be greeted at reception as a returner, we always feel so welcome here. Good to see the owners still investing in the hotel, lots of new furniture in the public rooms and the bathroom in room 19 was new and really nice. We also had an afternoon tea which was delightful. Comfortable large bed, the room was very clean and quiet. The furniture is old fashioned, but really good quality. I only have one tiny gripe, the thin pillows, spares had obviously been removed. See you next year x "
"What makes this beautiful country hotel even better is the amazing food and kind, attentive staff. We shared the wonderful 18oz ribeye which was cooked to utter perfection, and we throughrully enjoyed the shiraz. The manager and small team of staff worked tiressly ensuring everything was OK. We also loved the pianist who played during dinner and missed him when we retired to the bar. A truely wonderful weekend was had celebrating my birthday. We will most definitely be back. Thank you"

"Stayed at the wingrove last night and it was lovely from start to finish. Sharon at reception was lovely to talk to and very helpful. We stayed in room 14 which is spacious and the housekeeping team have done amazing job with the room! It was cosy and very clean, we couldn’t ask for more!! Dinner and breakfast was amazing the food was perfectly cooked, good portion size and it came out in right time. The chefs really do know what they are doing when it comes to food. Service was brilliant and efficient and we will 100% be returning back. What a lovely get away myself and my girlfriend had, just what we both needed. Beautiful views of the downs and endless walks to go on."
"From stepping in to the front door and throughout our stay the staff, service was second to none, very friendly and welcoming. Room was brilliant and very comfortable. No 11 overlooks church, very quiet and the bed was incredibly comfortable could have stayed there all day. NY meal was excellent, plenty of it and of a high standard. Breakfast/brunch couldn’t have been bettered and we wished we could have stayed longer. Would like to come back as love Alfriston as a base to explore Sussex and would definitely stay here again."
"We found this place easily as Alfriston is a small village and they had helpfully warned us of road works limiting access. Warm welcome. Not an easy place to get luggage either from car park to reception or up narrow winding stairs room was spacious as was bathrooms albeit old fashioned shower. We were told room would soon warm up but sadly it didn’t. Charming young lady offered us another room at far end of building. By then we had no time to repack & relocate. As we attending a function locally the reason for our stay. We spent a sleepless night in very cold room inadequate pillows and rather hard bed(needed a toper) Breakfast was ok. No one was able to offer récompense so to we were charged full tariff. I feel young girls who don’t know how to sort out central heating should not be left in charge without back up Check if they say the heating will be on soon don’t unpack until it is!"

"I stayed for 3 nights, midweek as a small treat for myself and the hotel and restaurant was absolutely perfect in every way. The room was stylish, comfortable, peaceful and cosy. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. The rainfall shower was spacious and refreshing. Everything is finished to a very high standard but without being overly fussy. The room had everything I needed; slippers & robe, shower accessories, lovely towels, a kettle and tea bags, an espresso machine, a small fridge... with... FRESH MILK :-) and a couple of cookies too. The restaurant has an excellent breakfast menu - cooked to perfection. The evening meals are a selection of Chinese, Malaysian and Thai cuisines and were so tasty. Great wine list too. The owners were lovely, welcoming and friendly without being interfering, they had everything just right. The word boutique has been overused to up sell other hotels and lost its meaning but this little dream of a retreat really does deserve to proudly describe itself as boutique. It is truly charming. Go and stay for a night or a week or visit the restaurant for a meal. Its amazing."
"Close to the De La Warr, this small boutique hotel / B&B is a real gem. The building has been refitted recently and with great attention to detail and style. Our room was relatively small, but perfectly adequate. The room had a well fitted shower room, a coffee maker as well as tea, complimentary water and a bottle of beer in the fridge. Our Breakfast was exceptionally well cooked and tasty and we only wished we had had time to eat in the evening as the restaurant smelt amazing. The only very minor negative is that hotel does not have any dedicated parking but parking in the street is plentiful - there is a 2 hour maximum during the day but apparently there are no traffic wardens in Bexhill... The Pavilion car park is only minutes away though. Overall, 10/10. Faultless."
"Randomly saw this place served Chinese food and decided to try it as the Thai was fully booked couple of doors down! Well wow this place is super clean and tidy with a lovely brick exposed wall which adds character to the restaurant. The food was gorgeous! Defo recommend the salt and chilli squid starter and king prawn chow mien !! My friends tiger prawns were absolutely huge too!! Not bad at all for the money! Very fresh food and not greasy!! Highly recommend ! "
