My family of four just returned from a week at the Four Seasons Costa Rica. We are experienced travelers who have stayed at many five star and luxury resorts so I don't take it lightly when I say that this was the best all-around resort experience we've ever had. It all starts with the staff. They are so friendly and so genuine and the don't know the word ”no”. They gladly accommodate any and every request with a smile. They are always on and always there the minute you need anything. My son loves to play basketball and we struck up a conversation with one of the staff in the lobby about it. He hopped in a cart, took my son over the the basketball court and shot hoops with him for a solid 20 minutes even though the lobby was busy and full of other guests. When I needed some peroxide for a small blister I called the front desk and by the time I hung up the phone someone was at the door with a full medical kit. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left of the resort provided airport transportation, we didn't have to lift a finger. We often returned to lavish treats and gifts in our room when the cleaning services had completed for the day. Every detail of the resort was thought out and perfectly executed. The beaches are beautiful and full of fun activities for the whole family. The pools are perfectly maintained and service around the pool is friendly and attentive. The food at the restaurants was amazing! We tried every one and we didn't have a bad experience once. We stayed in the residences and our particular unit was a bit too far from the main building to comfortably walk (especially on the way back which was a steep uphill). We had to call for the staff to bring a golf cart to take us to and from the beaches and restaurants. Certainly not a problem but just something to consider when factoring in how much cash you need to bring for tips. We happily spent quite a bit tipping the friendly drivers when they shuttled us several times per day. I could go on and on about how perfect our stay was but you really just need to experience it for yourself. We will definitely be coming back.

We had a wonderful experience. This place is a relaxation oasis, amenities are great, classes are wonderful and breakfasts are delicious. We loved it so much we are returning this winter!

Top Notch Service, Impeccable Resort and Great Location for Exploring Property: The property is situated on the lovely shell beach of Playa Conchal, which is to say that the sand is fine grain crushed seashells and white in color, unlike many of the areas other black sparkling sand beaches. The lush vegetation is highly maintained and adorned with many of the animals and plants you likely booked your trip to Costa Rica to come see, including Iguanas, Monkeys, Coatis, Armadillos, Birds of many varieties and even the off Raccoon on occasion. It's laid out in such a way where no room is too far from the beach or the centralized pool, which is where the restaurants are all located. Rooms: Unique in setup and stylish in design, these rooms are really thoughtfully constructed with each room given either an outdoor patio or an enclosed patio with rocking chairs. Perfect place to have that cup of coffee and let the day's adventure come to you! The beds are the typical Westin Heavenly Beds, amazing in comfort that leaves you well rested and ready for the next day of Pura Vida! There were 4 of us in the room, 2 adults and 2 kids...each of us being able to find our own spot to get out of each other's way when we needed. Staff: This is a resort staff that's friendly, quick to meet your need and genuinely interested in your stay being the highest of quality. Seems like everyone actually likes working there! Spanish was appreciated, but not required if you are able to speak it. Beach: The beach provides a nice length to walk with sweeping views of the Pacific and the surrounding lush green hills. There are many massage vendors, but nobody was too pushy and you can even grab a horseback ride ($35/ 30 minutes) just beyond the hotel's beach entrance. Take advantage of the free water sports (non-electric) provided by the resort and paddle board or kayak your way into the bay for a knockout view like no other.

The experience was hit or miss. We were star class and our concierge (Samuel) did not connect with us until our 2nd day on-premises and, by then, our options for reservations were a bit limited. I think that would’ve been alleviated if he’d reached out on day 1. Samuel could have tried harder to connect with us but, when he engaged, he was helpful. Second, we reserved a double occupancy star class room and got a king room for two females who weren’t looking to share a bed. I spent 4 nights sleeping on a pull out bed. For the bargain basement price of over $2000 — I feel that should’ve been a credit provided or something. The hotel did nothing to address it, saying it was due to availability & the hotel was full. I didn’t feel like a star, at all in that scenario. The food was pretty good at most restaurants. The buffet was a bit hit or miss, but if you didn’t like something there were lots of other options to choose from. The best dinner was at the Hibachi/Sushi spot, our waiter Dilan Salazar was excellent!! Although he said he’d only been doing hibachi for 3 months, you absolutely could not tell!! The best breakfast was at the blue star restaurant — it was SO good!! Overall, a good stay — I might stay again, if management could guarantee I wouldn’t have to sleep on a pull out bed. 😕 The staff was lovely and attentive.
