"If you understand a few access limitations, this place is just fine. I'll deal with those later. This is a nice, very clean, newly-fitted out, modern (in an old building) nine-room hotel on three floors, starting (importantly) on the (for Americans) second floor. You go up a kind of steep set of stairs to the reception area and from there there is elevator service to the top two floors. The hotel entrance is signed but back from the street through a short passageway between two restaurants. It's about 30 steps from the beachfront raised promenade and there are a ton of restaurants nearby. We had a room that was a few notches up from the bottom offerings. It had a pleasant, small porch furnished with two chairs and a table. The view was of absolutely nothing but the church steeple containing the bells that rang every hour. With the patio door open (it was warm) we heard every peal. With the door closed, practically nothing. The room, bathroom and fixtures, and patio all seemed quite new. And the decor and decorations were very nice. Breakfast is 11 euros and ordered from a menu the night before. It can be eaten in the reception area or cheerfully delivered to your room. It was nothing spectacular, but was quite fresh and nice and exactly as ordered. Nice to not have to go out. Unless a taxi drops you off, finding this one and finding a place for your car is an adventure. The street of the hotel is pedestrian only. So you approach from the north on Rue Jean Courtade. JUST before you hit the beach promenade (on the right), and JUST before an alley on the left, is the LAST PARKING SPACE on the left. On the side of the building behind the space is a sign that reads "Minute Hotel Parking" and a sign hanging from that that says "Hotel Txoko." If someone is parked there and is in the car, scowl at them and get them to move. Assuming you get the spot, get all your stuff, lock the car and walk ahead a few steps (not down the alley) to Rue de la Republique. Walk down the street past 2-3 restaurants and above the restaurant awnings on the left you will see a sign for Hotel Txoko. Enter the short passageway and you're home free. If no one's there, the charming, friendly, helpful Claudette will respond quickly when you ring the bell. Nothing to it. Nice place once you get there!"
"This hotel is the best place you can find in Saint Jean du Luz. The host is more than words can define, extremely helpful, very friendly, can not be better, she made our days beautiful:) The rooms are very well decorated, very chic, clean, sound proof. Welcoming easter bunny chocolate, free of charge nespresso and water in the rooms. The breakfast is amazing by the way!! My first time in Saint jean de luz which I found very boring, overrated, ugly restaurants, very expensive for the very very low quality of service and taste you get at the restaurants. Never to come as a couple because nothing to do besides the beach which is also very ugly designed. But this hotel is the only positive experience you can get in this place. "
"We spent a week in this hotel having booked through booking.com. We were well received and our room was as booked, clean and well presented. Although in the heart of the town our room was at the back of the hotel and we enjoyed peaceful nights and good sleep. The staff offer everything you need in particular, towels, mats and a parasol for the nearby beach, great when travelling with hand luggage only. We did try the breakfast on one day, very good and lots of it but we preferred to pop out to the nearby shops daily. A small fridge was provided that allowed some storage for small items. You could not be closer to the action here and we had an enjoyable week. Any issues were dealt with promptly by staff. I would recommend this as a good base to explore the area close to busses, train and Restaurants."
