The location is very good in the harbour and it is very lively at night! Breakfast is not bad, it is 50,000 to increase the speed! The room was cleaned, clean and the service was very good! The hotel can book a taxi to the airport! Very nice to stay at the hotel!

Reviews From Real Travelers
I first visited Hodges on Honeymoon in April 2021 and went back asap (June 2021) for a girls trip which was repeated again this summer. If you are reconnecting with your SO or having an Eat Pray Love moment, Hodges is waiting for you. Take the time to indulge, heal, and adventure all in one location. Private bars, beach, infinity pool, new seaside hot tub, and the most perfect photo ops right on resort without the feel, look, or impression of a large resort. I really enjoyed yoga on my private deck with the sunrise, and never had an empty glass or plate (unless by choice lol). Check out the spa, private island/bar at Prickly Pear, or Fix your Life exchanging stories at Drift the pool side bar, there is usually an opportunity to fall into a dance party when you ready. Antigua and Hodges is like coming home. If you haven't been, its time to Fix your Life ;)

I have been to Hodges Bay Resort 3 times in 2 years and anticipating a visit again in the near future. A beautiful sunset, private beach, wonderful staff, delicious food, all things that make you go, hmmmmm :) A visit to their private beach, ”Prickly Pear” is a must! Their Drift Bar has a constant breeze by their infinity pool that faces the ocean. The Resort is majestic and magical with lush flowers, beautiful artwork, and sculptures! I highly recommend Hodges Bay Resort and Spa if you truly want to relax and enjoy beautiful Antigua.

Reviews From Real Travelers
Apologies for repeating the WelshGirlCardiff review from Aug 2022 - but she is spot on! Hawksbill is a 3-star resort and does not pretend to be a 5-star 'Sandals' resort with regimentally lined beach umbrellas hiding the natural beauty of the Caribbean coastline. The four beaches each offer something slightly different from easy swimming areas, to rocky snorkelling opportunities and the beautiful clothing optional Eden beach. The latter is the longest and less than ten people on the beach at any one time. A water was available from the cooler brought down from the resort. The food variety was fine and plenty of it, with catering and table staff friendly and accommodating. The requirement to book you evening meal preference was no issue with no strict enforcement, probably just an efficient way of gauging the cooking requirements for the evening. Vegetarians may feel aggrieved at the choice but for us this was not an issue! Caribbean flavours served throughout the day with the bars serving a variety of local cocktails along with the more familiar ones. All served with smiles and friendliness. The little Sugar Mill shop in an old Martello Tower on the resort sold tobacco, drink and souvenirs with a lovely helpful lady always chatting away and cheerful. Natural beauty oozes through the resort with goats roaming, pigs visiting the beach to cool down, the occasional mongoose scampering around, ducks scavenging with a variety of birds providing birdsong and occasionally raiding the sugar sachets in the rooms if you left the door open! The two cats collectively having 7 and a half legs, know how to cajole guests for some nibbles. There are many reviews pointing out specific issues they had with the resort: Paul M - You have to pay for water?? If you have a bottle there is free water from water coolers around the resort. Chervil R - Slow WIFI? It worked, but you have Caribbean beaches, azure blue sea and sunshine is this really an issue? Comments about staff being rude and unhelpful must have been visiting a different place! We booked the all-inclusive 14 day break through a British Airways package. Airport taxi transfer was efficient with a guided tour all the way to the resort. Welcome at the resort was friendly, informative and we were escorted to our beach front bungalow. 12 steps to the beach, 18 steps to the sea. Yes, the rooms were a little tired and the resort was closing for 5 months for a refurbishment, but did it matter. No, not one bit.

This our 14th trip to Hawksbill, sure will be there later this year. The real sort is closing from April to November 2023 for refurbishment, possibly a new management infrastructure. We love it here, unspoilt by commercialisation, quiet, beautiful beaches, truly a place to relax. Since we've been there many times, we have made friends with the staff, would like to thank them. Management, Arlene Marsh, Mario Thomas. Bar staff, David - you are a legend, William, John, Kevin, Christabelle. Restaurant managers, Chris Henry, Dalston. Staff, lovely Julieanne, always smiling, Bernadette, Brad, Myra, Anita, Harold Anne others too. Laundry staff, Donna, really wise person, Valeda and Kygen. In 2014 I created a Facebook page for the cats at Hawksbill, this involved the Spay and Neutering clinic in St John's. Since its inception, cats have been treated which has controlled their population at Hawksbill - some of them, overtime, passed away. As of 2023, my last visit, there are only two cats, Maverick, he's been neutered, he's a favourite with lots of guests, he's had his flea and worming tablet at the end of March. The other cat is Lolly, she has part of her lower rear right leg missing - possibly after an attack from a mongoose when she was a kitten. She has been spayed, in good health, she also has had her Nexgard flea/worming tablet. They are well behaved, fed by staff and happy - a real success story ! I have raised their profile with Dogs and Cats of Antigua, they are also known at the ”Ark” at St John's. The Facebook page, Hawksbill Resort Cats, has, to date, 188 international members. Not all resorts are as forward thinking as Hawksbill about the Spay and Neutering regime - hopefully this will change. Thanks Hawksbill, see you later in 2023.
