Looks like Marriott used the pandemic to renovate and modernize the rooms. The furnishings look new with a somewhat modern flair. The room configurations though are easily recognizable for those who've stayed in Marriott properties before. On the plus side, the hotel is in a good location, basically at the northern edge of the downtown core area. It is across the street from the performing arts center so is a convenient spot to spend the night without requiring any driving, parking, etc. There are many restaurants within a 10 minute walk of the hotel. The hotel has a nice bar/lounge area that gets some traffic in the evenings. The rooms feel fresh and new although they are limited by the pre-existing room configurations and ceiling height. Despite its location, that section of town is actually fairly quiet outside of events at the art center. One can do many pleasant walks to nearby parks, the nearby culture museum or to simply view the older building architecture in downtown Greensboro. On the negative side, only complaint was that their pool remains closed (going on two years now?) Given the warm weather we had while there, it would have been nice had it been open!

The hotel itself is lovely and modern with a soaring entrance area. We were checked in quickly and efficiently. As we were tired from the drive, we went to the ”restaurant” for dinner. Dinner was served in the bar probably due to staff shortages. We were somewhat befuddled to see only very high end adult beverages. I am a Scotch drinker and there were only two single Malts and Johnny Walker Black. Quite an expensive cocktail time. We ordered and in 30 minutes my meal came out, but nothing for my husband. The person who brought out the food said ”Did you not order anything?” He replied that he had and was told that they were out. Why were we not told? I sent my meal to be kept warm and my husband ordered something quick. An hour later, our food had not arrived. We found the manager and to her credit she ran into the kitchen and brought us our food at no charge. It was now past 9:00PM and my husband has to eat at regular hours although we are not early bird type people. Our room was beautifully designed, but the toilet was about 12 inches off of the floor. Fortunately we are nimble and able to cope. The sink was also very low and you had to do a yoga pose to wash your face. We are Marriott Gold members and have stayed in Marriotts all over the world, but this was a first.

The hotel lobby is lovely with high ceilings, that’s about the only good here. Elevators were dirty and sketchy, at best. The bed was the most uncomfortable accommodation I have ever slept on. I have a back ache from the crappy mattress. The breakfast buffet is $12! But when we came down at 9am (it closes at 10) the food was nearly gone and what remained did not look appeasing. The pool area has like five chairs for parents and we had to ask for pool towels 3x before anyone brought any down. The pool had maybe 16 kids and they brought ten towels. This place is a waste or money.

The location is not bad, but there is still a need for a car to travel, there are many places to eat and shopping nearby. Although not far away, it takes time to walk.

Hyatt Place was a great respite during our work retreat/conference. The rooms were well-appointed. I had a great view of the baseball field. Everything was clean and I felt safe since I had to use my key card to access the elevator up to my room.

Clean, modern and user friendly. Great little lobby bar, nice spaces to conduct some business, room was comfortable - loved the L-shaped couch space. Convenient to get to great food and local coffee shops and breweries!

Reviews From Real Travelers
We were very disappointed in our recent four night stay. A major factor in choosing this hotel was the indoor pool. On the night of our check in we headed straight to the pool only to be met with a sign saying it was closed. When I politely inquired about it, the gentleman at the front desk could care less, didn't offer any apologies, and said it might be open next week or maybe not. We paid a premium to stay at this hotel (about $400/nt) because of a convention in town that we were not a part of. The pool closure was not listed on the website, in my booking confirmation, or in any of the other confirmations I received leading up to our trip. I did call customer service to voice my concern so we'll see what happens. The other big issue was housekeeping. There was a sign saying that you needed to request housekeeping. Reasonable enough. On the second night my husband went to the front desk to request it. He was told that we needed to request it in the morning. Okay, fine. So in the morning he goes back to the front desk and this time was informed that housekeeping is only provided every four days. Seriously?! So we were there for 4 nts/5 days and paid over $1700 and wasn't provided with any housekeeping. Totally unaccepable. The shining stars of this property were the women in the food area who were super pleasant and hardworking. I would not recommend this property. Look elsewhere.

The front desk and kitchen staff were really nice and helpful. Ms. Mary in the breakfast area was so friendly and outgoing and went above and beyond to make everybody feel welcome. The room was nice and clean and the location was perfect for the ACC tournament and Greensboro Coliseum.

Exceptional Hotel & Service! I arrived and the proximity of the hotel to the airport (it’s actually on airport property) was such a time saver for me. I stay exclusively at Marriott properties when possible so I have 20 years of hotel stay experience. I know what to look for quickly to determine what I’m about to experience. The staff is wonderful, rooms modern and clean and spacious. Common areas are well appointed and clean. Restaurant and bar are spot on and the meals and drinks were exceptional. Overall I’d come back again and again without hesitation. It gets my 5 star review.

I’m a fan of Marriott properties and this Airport location is a great example. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are nicely updated despite this being an overall older building. It’s extremely convenient to the airport for travel and they also have a lot of event space so I’ve been here for both. As I said, it’s a little bit older so they don’t look exactly like the newer Marriott’s which are really getting nice these days. That’s said, they have all the amenities including an indoor/outdoor pool, decent gym, a good restaurant, and an M club for frequent travelers

Our family of four needed a last minute overnight within the proximity of 40 and Route 68, on the airport side of Greensboro. We are well familiar with the area and the hotels along that stretch, and have stayed at a few of the others over the last ten years. SpringHill Suites was new to us, and this location’s previous reviews were pretty good on TA, so we gave it a go. We arrived around 10:00 PM, calling first to let the desk know we were still coming. The young woman I spoke with on the phone was very polite. When we arrived, our check in was smooth and quick, and we were given a room on the top (4th) floor, as requested. We were initially worried about the noise because we were only 4 doors down from 2 extremely loud and rude rooms across from the hall from each other, who were obviously talking with each other from within their rooms. But when we entered our own room, we couldn’t hear the volume from those 2 rooms at all. The room was clean, with a large walk in closet (good if someone needs to change clothes in privacy, and the bathroom is occupied.) Our tall teenager was able to comfortably sleep on the pull out trundle bed, giving our adult daughter the second bed to herself, which was a pleasant surprise. I prefer a firmer mattress, and these were soft with a topper. The bathroom was also clean, and the large shower didn’t have a tub, making getting in and out very easy for anyone with physical challenges. Breakfast consisted of hot oatmeal with a good amount of additional topping selections, such as coconut, dried berries, raisins, almonds, walnuts, granola, honey, chocolate chips, etc. They had hot bagels with eggs and ground meat, a pre-made Spanish style omelette, real hot pepper sauce on the side, cold bagels and breads, yogurt, cereal, bananas, oranges, and hot tea and coffee with a couple syrups, and real cream and milk. They were missing something with potatoes, in my opinion, but that’s not a big deal. My slight complaints had to do with the aesthetics of the bathroom. Our bathroom door didn’t have a lock that lined up with the latch in the doorframe, but more importantly, the bathroom door itself had a large panel of frosted glass. This meant that the door allowed the bright bathroom light into the rest of the room if someone had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, or if someone had to get ready early in the morning while others were still sleeping. I think this is a serious design flaw on Marriott’s part. Lastly, there was no bathroom fan and only 1 towel hook. The latter seems to be an issue in most hotels, I’ve noticed. All told, we enjoyed our stay and would currently recommend this particular hotel to others.

We stayed one night at the hotel on a trip to Winston-Salem. We have stayed at Springhill Suites in other cities. They are usually a good value for money and this one is no exception. On the other hand, this one is a bit more expensive than other Springhill Suites, perhaps that is because this one is brand new. Being new is always nice, everything looks shiny and all the gadgets and machines work. Breakfast was good, but not great. There was fresh fruit available, and both hot and cold choices. The yoghurt selection was OK. The staff was OK. However, the General Manager was excellent. She went out of her way to be accommodating. We really appreciated the help this lady provided. As we were leaving, we inquired about the cats we had seen out of the window from the fourth floor, which we found to be a nice touch. We had counted a total of 5 and even went down to feed them (one was brave enough to come out to accept our offerings). The GM told us she had counted 18!
