When we arrived the barrier was down. We had to do that awkward thing of move the car over as far as you can and then stretch to reach the button to contact staff. Unfortunately the staff member who answered the gate intercom was a little hard to understand and she cut us off rather abruptly with the gate still remaining down. We pressed again and the gate allowed access. We checked in and I advised that I had already paid online via paypal. The staff advised that any payment was not an actual payment rather a hold - I would still need to pay again. If you use paypal you will know it takes several days to show on your account so I could neither prove nor disprove their claims. We got to our room and were pleased to be in an annexe as there was a wedding going on. Nice room size etc kettle, coffee machine, mugs, tea and biscuits. I checked in the bathroom for glasses and there were none available - I would assume that a hotel charging over £100 per night would at least supply plastic cups or proper glasses to drink water from. There was plenty of storage available and a decent hairdryer. The shower was nice - however the glass door was not long enough to prevent significant amounts of water hitting the floor - the bath mat was sodden. The shower tray and grout work as well as an area near the radiator had mould/blackening to it. There was also a random hole in the ceiling - possibly an old leak? The food was great although it took a while to arrive. I did ask for mild peppercorn sauce and no mushrooms - my food arrived with mushrooms and no peppercorn sauce. We left the restaurant believing that the meal would be added to the room - a member of staff followed us out advised that many people may have sat at the table and they needed a room number (this was given when we arrived at the restaurant) and could we pay now?!; perhaps they need a better booking/checking system in place? We then went through to the bar there were several tables which had been left with glasses on them. They were only removed when we sat at one of these tables, the table remained unwiped. The two staff on didn't come over to see if we wanted more drinks and didn't interact with other people who were hovering also intending to purchase drinks. I eventually took my chair and sat in front of the bar waiting for the staff to return from a patrol; neither asked if they could help so I shouted over. I believe this is indicative more of a lack of training in customer service than rudeness. Children from the wedding were becoming a nuisance by this point and were pretty much unchallenged by staff. They were running in and out, up and down stairs taking milk from the fridges and leaving plastic rings on the floor. They made enough noise to be heard on at least the first floor as the fire doors were help open by magnets. In our room we hoped for peace and quiet only to be left disappointed by music echoing over from the wedding - this finished just before midnight. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The gym was lovely and quiet at 8am although the sauna hadn't quite heated up when we headed in there around 8.40ish. Breakfast was mostly tasty - the black pudding lacked any flavour - the scrambled eggs and hash browns were great. The tea was the wrong colour and tasted like very cheap teabags. There were bits of chips on the floor from the food service the night before.

We only stayed for the one night over the Bank Holiday Weekend and actually only booked the day before! We were checked in very quickly by a very friendly receptionist. Our room was a Superior King and we were impressed with the size and comfort, the beds and pillows were comfortable and the bathroom is very clean with good quality towels and toiletries. We went down to the bar area which is small but very nice and the young receptionist became the bar tender ! She is very busy but had a lovely smile and is so helpful ! There is a nice seating area outside in the walled garden where you can sit and enjoy a drink. We ate out so didn’t use the restaurant in the evening however breakfast was superb the next morning. Fresh, hot and a lovely varied choice better than we have had in a long time even in 5* Hotels. Again the staff were excellent, so attentive and constantly checking if we needed anything. The waiter offers fresh coffee and tea at your table ! You never need to ask for a top up. A very enjoyable stay made even better by the staff ! All a credit to the Hotel. We have recommended to family and friends and will definitely return.

Excellent and caring service. Outstanding help from the women on reception regarding additional services. The room was great - the fan in the toilet wouldn’t switch off and the room overlooked a noisy tyre and wheel repair garage which started work very early, but other than those things, very good service! Thank you

I initially booked and paid for this stay back in January but due to ill health I could no longer stay. The stay was put on credit for me and less than a week ago I got in touch asking if it was possible to use the stay this weekend just gone due to a mishap with calendar clashes. With no issues or delays, it was instantly organised for myself and my partner to stay there, and our room was even upgraded a larger room which was available at short notice. I questioned late at night when I arrived where I could park due to uncertainties with signage, and was immediately advised whilst I was still in the car! We stayed in the Lime Tree room and it was beautiful! Very modern, thoroughly clean, and there were even tea, coffee, milk, bottled water and snacks available which was a great finishing touch and a saving grace for the unorganised! The bed was extremely comfortable, the bedding is great hotel quality too. We will be regularly visiting Preston for our sport as we compete in a local Strength & Performance gym, and we absolutely will be back. It’s definitely made us rethink about driving up and down the country on the day, and put us at ease after previous bad experiences. Winkley Square Residences is the place to stay if you are ever in Preston, located in a lovely area, and an even nicer place to rest your head, run by very helpful and genuinely nice people. Hats off to you guys👍🏼

The apartments are very close to Preston city centre and a short through or past Winkley square. It literally took us a 5 minute walk to local pubs and restaurants so the location is perfect. The train and bus station are only 10/15 minutes away. We didn't take a car so unsure about parking close to the building but there are lots of places to park in Preston city centre - you won't go wrong if you travel by car. We stayed in a small apartment/flat on the ground floor. Not the biggest but certainly big enough for our needs as we wanted a decent central location in comfortable surroundings. The room was warm enough with a large radiator and an electric heater should you need a bit more warmth. The double bed was comfy enough. A nice touch by the owner(s) to leave some crisps, cereal and milk in the fridge. Unfortunately, the flat/apartment was let down by a foul sewer-like smell in the bathroom and the cleanliness of the room wasn't the best. We found someone's old contact lens on the bed and another on the floor. We also found, just popping out from under the bed a large piece of broken glass with hairs on it - God knows how long that had been there or, underneath the beds were cleaned. Depending what size you are, its worth mentioning the shower - a very small quadrant shower. Not a lot of room to manoevure. In fact, you may need to stop the shower and open the doors to wash. Overall, a fairly nice apartment but sadly let down by a few things.

We just tried to make the booking on 22/10/2022 and luckily there were still available rooms. We were pretty in a rush that day as we accidentally got our booking canceled in another hotel (not IHG Hotel) and were planning to visit Blackpool. But it seemed that hotels in Blackpool were quite expensive, being unaffordable for students like us haha. So we decided to look for a hotel in Preston and thankfully we got such a fantastic IHG hotel. The staff was quite nice and friendly. We asked for a toothbrush in the morning of the second day and just received it immediately from reception after the call. Positive impression. We did not use many of the facilities, as we just had a buffet (British breakfast) at the second day in the morning. Food is delicious and healthier food and green vegetables were also provided. Really appreciate it as a person who really loves eating vegetables more than meat haha.

Hotel was very well located and service was good. The cleaning was also good, although there were a few things about the hotel room that looked dirty or unkempt, such as: toilet seat, bed frame, carpet stains. Furthermore, the service was good. In terms of facilities, it was also cool to have a gym. Just a pity that you hear people running until late at night if you have a room on the 6th floor. Rather than no gym in the hotel.

Reviews From Real Travelers
This was great for why we needed it. We wanted somewhere to spend the night after a full day of travelling. We also had a dog with us and the hotel were very accommodating for this. (Extra points). We had also got the breakfast package which was pretty decent. There was a wide range of food choices which was great as I can be a fussy eater. The place was pretty clean and the staff were very welcoming. The only real complaint that we have is the beds. They are so hard and not very comfortable. It was on par with lying on a concrete block. Despite this I do feel that everything else outweighed this, however one night would be my limit as my body felt broken the next day from the bed.

It was my first stay, but it was a good hotel with cost-effectiveness. The location was good and access from M6 and access to the city to Preston was convenient. It was good to have a bar and welcome drink at any time. I think it is inconvenient that there is no power supply around the bed and the countermeasure of COVID, but it is inconvenient because there is no tea. I couldn't find any shops around, so it's inconvenient to get drinks. The room rate is cheap and a satisfying stay.
