Reviews From Real Travelers
Since it is called Shimoda, I was satisfied with the seafood. However, perhaps because the waiter and the kitchen aren't communicating well, the items I ordered haven't been delivered... and the room's construction is the worst. The door to the bathroom rattled, and the window sash didn't close properly, so the draft from the window was just cold. There were small flies in the washroom... There was an air purifier, but it smelled musty and I couldn't sleep. It's a little expensive, but it's not a luxury ryokan. For that room rate, I would stay at another inn.

Reviews From Real Travelers
I decided to go for a drive to Minamiizu, which I used to frequent, for the first time in a long time, and decided to stay at this hotel, which looked like it had a nice view. The building certainly feels like it has aged, but it seems that it has been repaired as appropriate, and it has been cleaned well, so I didn't feel any discomfort. As the name suggests, the view from the room was wonderful, overlooking the Sotoura coast. For dinner, we had a Japanese course in the large hall, and it was delicious with local ingredients used. Regarding the meal time, it seemed that the time was divided so that it would not be crowded at once, but it took about 2 hours because the dishes were carefully served one by one. I had the impression that the food was served slowly during the time period when the second half of the meal for the guests who arrived early overlapped with the first half of the meal for the guests who arrived late. Every time Mr. Nakai brought the food, he apologized saying, ”I'm sorry I'm late,” but personally, I was drinking alcohol, and my wife took pictures and talked about this and that. I was able to enjoy it at just the right pace. I don't think that's the case unless it's a Saturday or a busy season after the end of Corona. I went to the bar after dinner, and I recommend it because it has a nostalgic retro atmosphere and the seats are spacious. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the Sotoura coast through a special passage, but on the way back, it's a climb, so it's a bit tiring. One thing that bothered me was that the air volume of the hair dryer fixed in the room was weak, and it took a long time for women with long hair to dry, so I would appreciate it if you could think about it. I think it's really hard due to the long corona misfortune, but I'd like you to leave this wonderful environment forever. I will ask again.

The hotel is halfway up the mountain, it is not recommended to take the bus, because the bus has to climb a particularly large slope, especially tired. The hotel is overlooking the sea and there is a direct bus from Baiji Beach. Of course, you have to take the ramp. Hotel service staff is generally English. There are many Japanese residents.

Reviews From Real Travelers
The property has amazing ocean views high on an outcropping, but none of the rooms with an ocean view have a balcony, except the very edge of the east wing. Wonderful gardens with a path lading down to a small beach that isn't too noteworthy. The rooms have been updated since the construction and are pretty good overall. The pool was closed in June, which was pretty disappointing, especially as the beach is below par. The onsen facilities met expectation. The beds are firm, which I loved, but not everyone likes a firm mattress. The hotel operates a bus service to pick up guests from the train station twice an hour from 9-5pm. If you are doing dinner out in the town or drinks in the evening, you have to grab a taxi back as the walk is a bit of a hike. The hotel staff are very friendly and kind, the concierge knows the area and has great recommendation for activities...wonderful and friendly people. The hotel restaurant serves a nice mostly Japanese breakfast (as expected) with local delicacies, wide range of teas, coffee and juice as well as a great selection of breads and fresh fruit. The hotel restaurant for dinner is average. Our group ordered a range of items off the menu and no one was terribly impressed. The lone stand out was the French Onion soup, packed with flavor, though a bit light on the cheese. Would stay here again if the price was right, was able to get rooms at a discount on this stay as it was rainy season.

This is a good hotel. Wonderful location on the mountain overlooking the ocean. Ocean view is important I think as I believe the ”mountain view” is basically the parking lot. Hotel is nice. Staff is friendly. The dinner was quite good however service seemed slow at first. Since it is a reserved course menu, I don't find any reason why people should sit for 15 minutes waiting for the first course. Most people did, seems disorganized. Food is good though. The lines at the breakfast buffet was pretty jammed and slow. The onsen was pretty small for such a big hotel. Sauna closed for corona, which seems pretty random since the other hotels open their saunas. Room was clean. Nothing great. Their cafe lounge has a hard close at 16:00. This makes no sense whatsoever since that is the best time to sit and enjoy tea/coffee. Not only do they stop serving but the lounge is shut from entry. This is just bad management in my opinion. They had ping pong. All in all, good place to stay near Shimoda. Staff are all super nice.

Reviews From Real Travelers
We stayed in a twin room with ocean view on the 3rd floor. The room was large, and the furnishings, cloths and carpets were the image of the sea. It was surprising that there was a clothesline stand near the entrance. I'm convinced that it's for guests playing at the beach. For dinner, half of the menu is a small bowl buffet style. The sashimi is thick and fresh. The fried squid and turban shell grilled in buds were delicious. The dishes with white smoke rising from grilled stones are exciting. I am satisfied with the seafood for breakfast. The large communal bath with a view is completely glass-walled, the spring quality is weak alkaline, colorless, odorless and slimy, but the area around the outlet of the hot water was covered with white crystals. I was able to relax both physically and mentally.

The hotel gets 1 star purely based on its private beach, or else it should be zero stars. We arrived in good time. We asked to go to our room 45 mins before our check in but they demanded ¥2,000 to do so. We waited as it wasn’t worth it. The shower in the room was also old and water was flooding the floor after use. When it came to the room, we discovered a leak in the wardrobe which contained futons to sleep in. They were drenched through with rain water. They initially offered to move us to the room next door but we said the least they could do was upgrade us. They did so eventually, but the damage was done. We checked out the next day and cut our trip short. Please avoid this hotel as it is old and the service is poor. I will not be staying here ever again. They had a nice breakfast but dinner was not worth it at all.

The key to the room was wobbly, and I couldn't open it unless I did it well. The moment I opened the room, I was a little worried about the smell, but there was a reset in each room and it was okay. I don't recommend it for cleanliness, but the food was delicious with a wide variety of foods. If you enter the pool in the morning, it is OK, but in the evening it will be a little dirty. The sauna temperature setting was low. I complained a lot, but the meal was really satisfying

Qingliu Zhuang: Arrive at the hotel, check and disinfect the body temperature, and tea in the lobby and finish the check in procedure. Under a brief explanation, you will be guided to the room. Kiyo Ryu sho was built as a villa with local influential people in the early Showa period (1927), and it seems that it was made to be a Japanese style eclectic with a pool and sauna in the Japanese style Ryokan from the beginning. After that, it was built and made an inn, and the company bought and managed in 2019. It consists of Higashi Kan and attached facilities, Nishi Kan and attached facilities, but it is a structure that extends sideways to a large site, so it is a little difficult to understand. The room is a special room in a Japanese style room with a hot spring bath. It has about 100 ㎡ and a house, and it consists of chairs, tables, bedrooms, Japanese room small rooms, bathrooms, etc. on the wide edge along the surrounding outer window centering on 12.5 tatami Japanese rooms, and the toilet and the entrance are large. It will be suitable for family or several group trips. There is expensive juice and beer in the refrigerator and it is free. The flowers decorated in the Japanese room are not real flowers. It is a relaxed inn of 21 rooms, but the next room was not used today, and it was not seen that there were many guests. For this reason, I was not troubled by the sound, and the bedroom was not dark by the light outside, but I had a quiet and relaxing time. The hot spring is weak alkaline, transparent and no smell, but it is good for the skin. The temperature was good and I was able to soak comfortably. There are two open-air baths and a large bath, and men and women are replaced by time. There are few rooms, so there are always no one or several people. The dish was full of sea yuki. I made a little good course, and the boiling of the gold eyelid was delicious. Sashimi is also fresh, such as a few kinds of sashimi in one of the shrimp, and abalone dance. The taste is just right. The amount is a little bit large for the elderly. Breakfast is not the standard azi opening but gold eyelid. There are a lot of goods for the elderly. The employee's response is a bit habitual, but the elderly Nakai who guided the entrance is a bit habitual, but the female employee who had dinner and good breakfast and liquidation is a polite and naive person It was good that the liquidation at check-out was also done in the room. The transfer bus departs to Shimoda station every 30 minutes in the morning.

Stayed on a day where the weather is not very good in January. There are few guests due to the cancellation of the GoTo campaign. It was a pretty good check-in with a feeling of an old nostalgic inn. I stayed at the East Building, but it was renovated and it was very nice and easy to spend widely. I decided to enter the pool and decided to stay at this inn, but the water temperature was subtle and cold, so I cut it in a short time and changed to sauna Sanmai. I hung water in Kero and sweated with steam and all the waste in my body. I think it's worth going alone. The meal is delicious and very satisfying, but it was a little disappointing that the perfume of Nakai (the staff) was tight. I think it is an inn that can satisfy adults and children.
