Reviews From Real Travelers
We decided to do a night out in Portland. I am originally from there...born and raised, but live in Kittery now. Decided to check out the press hotel and union restaurant for brunch. Honestly, it was all ”Meh”. Hotel was nice, clean and convenient to Old Port. It is however, overdone, overpriced and overhyped. Too much with the press quotes all over the place, the tyewriters, printing press parts, etc etc. I get it. Its the Portland Press Herald's old building. Our room was $400 after taxes and had a view of the fire station parking lot. It was tiny, bed uncomfortable, pillows unusable (ordered new pillows which helped, but the oversized ”feather” pillows were covered in something like crepe paper). Bathroom had no fan, stupid quotes all over the place signifying nothing. I don't really understand how other hotels in the Port are like $150 a night for the same thing while this is more than double. The experience? It was too much by half. Seems to me this is there to bilk tourists out of a few extra dollars playing on Portland's history, which I don't get--the Press Herald is still around, just not in that building. Maybe its there for the new hipster crowd in Portland to part with some of their money, who knows. Traveling to Portland and want to stay downtown? Stay at one of the other cheaper hotels. Same exerience, half the price. Remember, no matter how hard you try, Portland is not Boston and its not New York. Mariott missed with this one.

Our group of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our short, 1-night stay at The Press Hotel. It's well-appointed with lovely bathrooms, and great decor throughout. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The art installation in the lower level was very nice too! The bartender this past Saturday evening in the lobby made GREAT drinks. I recommend the Printers Ink cocktail! The gym is small, but nice - it could be a little cooler in there, and the water could be placed in a mini-fridge to keep it cool, but whatever, right? Great location and really nice place to lay your head for an evening in Portland, ME.

The location of the hotel is very good, it is very convenient to eat and shop. The hotel also has its own car that can take guests to places within a mile of the nearby area. Hotel front desk service is especially good.

The American breakfast is not bad, the room is not too big for an extra bed, there is a multi-storey car park next to the hotel, and there is a valet parking service at the hotel.

4.5 stars We stayed one night while passing through Portland on the way home. Check-in was quick and friendly. The lobby is nice. Room was clean, spacious, and updated. Bed was comfortable. Front desk staff were helpful. Location is great! We had a couple of great walks to dinner or to get coffee. The Old Port neighborhood was cute! We ordered room service for breakfast. Service was slower than expected due to staffing issues, but we both enjoyed our meals. We didn’t get to take advantage of the spa or restaurant, but if we find ourselves in Portland again, we definitely will. We always have nice experiences at Westins, and this stay was no different.

I have to write this because I was so shocked. My husband an I were looking forward to a few days at Portland Maine and staying at the Westin hotel. To our compete shock entering from the highway exit to get to the Westin hotel there is a big park. Well when I tell you there had to be at least 100 homeless druggies in tents etc . In this park all the way up the sidewalk. We saw people doing drugs shooting up it was so awful. We get to the Westin to find it's just a few blocks from all this drug area. As we are sitting in the car there in front of the hotel men swearing the f words and so drugged out I told my husband I can't stay here. We decided to take a ride down town not much difference there so dirty and homeless drugged out people there too. I couldn't get out of Portland fast enough. Why doesn't the city do something about this problem? I didn't realize Portland was such a big drug place. I will never ever go back. So sad

Reviews From Real Travelers
I stayed at this hotel for a week on business. The room was clean and comfortable, the amenities were great-full kitchen, full-size fridge and microwave, stove, pots/pans, all the dishes, glassware and utensils you'd need. I slept really well-didn't notice any noise from the street. It was really convenient and the view of the harbor with all the huge cruise ships coming in and out was super cool. The staff was great-particularly Rashad and Tim at the front desk-very helpful, friendly and professional. The location was very convenient to the Old Port area. Really enjoyed my stay.

Great location tho it wasn't situation in the heart of downtown. Clean and bright room. Due to the covid the housekeeping service wasn't delivered during the 3 nights we stayed. The price was extremely expensive (actually all hotels in the whole Portland). Anyhow, great spacious room and I had a pleasant stay.

wonderful stay right in the Middle of everything Portland! Clean room and the front desk service was great. I'll definitely return.

Reviews From Real Travelers
We were very comfortable in our deluxe waterview room for three nights. The room was clean and spacious with nice bedding and giant windows that allowed us to enjoy the activity around the port. We were a little apprehensive about the lively crowd and the loud music across the street on our first night, but at 10:00 p.m. all was quiet. However, with parking and the cost of breakfast, we paid over $1500 for those three nights. Even with the great location and the view, that was well beyond anything we've paid before--anywhere.

This was our first visit to Portland. Loved the town, but this hotel was $600 for a night, and well underconditioned for such a price. Cracked tiles in bathroom. Grout bad. Every time we turned off the water the pipes would groan/squeal for about 30 seconds. Room felt dated. Location is rock solid, but I've stayed in much better Hiltons for much better prices. Taking advantage of the location it would seem. Staff was very nice and very friendly. It got the job done for the night, but expected better for that price. Didn't even include breakfast?!?! I can get Hampton Inn to include breakfast for 1/3rd the price.

We made a last minute decision to take a trip from the NYC area up to Portland to attend an event, and with Labor Day weekend traffic, we did not arrive until about 11:30PM at night with 3 exhausted kids. We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel -- the kids slept in the bedroom and my husband and I slept on the pull-out couch in the living room area of the suite. I was anticipating noise because of the proximity to the airport, but we never heard a single plane! When we requested extra towels, pillows, blankets, etc they were brought up in a timely fashion by a friendly and helpful staff member. The included breakfast was a really nice perk -- everyone had plenty of options (one of our travel companions is vegan and had options). My husband in particular enjoyed the freshly made omlets.

We made plans to visit some new states over Labor Day weekend about a week before the trip. That close to the holiday weekend, we had limited choices. This was an excellent option. Yes, it’s at the airport. But, the staff is amazing. The shuttles to Commercial Street was very convenient. I got a list of restaurants - and some good recommendations - when checking in. Though I did get some grief for being at the Jetport from my teenage son, we’re all looking forward to a return trip.
