BP 4077, Collectivity of Saint Martin, French Saint Martin
"My partner and I took a last-minute getaway and booked our stay, never having stayed at a Belmond before. When we vacation, we normally stay at high-end properties like the Four Seasons, One and Only, etc so our standards were high. Check in was wonderful and we were greeted with a rum punch. Our room was very nice. Some elements looked a little banged up but very lovely and comfortable. The small kitchenette was ok, nothing special. We ended up switching rooms from a ground floor in building B to the 2nd floor, which had a balcony and a massive roof deck, which we enjoyed greatly. The room was towards the far end of the beach so very quiet and private. We were just steps from the actual beach, which I personally loved. I also appreciated the attentiveness of the beach staff, who would set up and reserve our loungers every morning, so never a feeling of pressure to run outside early and get a prime chair/spot. The water is gorgeous and warm and the beach very clean. The hotel has limited food options and the main restaurant on site was just ok for me dinner-wise. Lunches were pretty good, but water was $10 per bottle so a bit crazy. Breakfast was good, not the best I've ever had but nothing wrong with it at all. Overally I really loved this property and a lot of that is to do with the outstanding overall customer service from the team. For full transparancy, we did have an issue with the water in our room, where there was basically no hot water BUT the staff handled it beyond our expectations and we appreciated that greatly. Special call outs to Marc, Olivier, Marco, Hugo, Joycelene, plus our other friends serving us at lunch whose names we have sadly forgotten."
"This is our third stay at Belmond La Samanna and it has surpassed our previous stays. Our room was upgraded from a one bedroom suite with balcony to one that also included a roof top deck complete with umbrella, two lounge chairs, table and chair. Fabulous! The resort is impeccably maintained - we watched the beach raked every morning. The beach staff were so friendly and provided us with water and beach towels - they were so patient to position our umbrella for shade multiple times a day. The breakfast buffet has everything you can imagine - fresh fruit and delicious baked goods plus all of the other breakfast items like bacon, pancakes, french toast, cereals, yogurt, warm oatmeal and even baked beans. The service is friendly - no attitudes here. The manager Eleonore helped us with restaurant recommendations which were wonderful and also chatted with us about our stay. She gave us her card and we sent her a lovely thank you a wonderful vacation. We will be back! "
"We had another outstanding stay at LaSamanna; we’ve been going there for over ten years and there are many other repeat guests. The property looks exquisite — the landscaping is lush and the beach is pristine. There are few beaches in the Caribbean as beautiful as this one. There is new furniture at the pools and at the beach. We were upgraded to a suite which was newly painted and also had new furniture -- it was magnificent. The staff could not be more attentive and helpful. The manager, Eleanore Astier-Petin was a constant presence, always chatting with guests to see if all is well. The entire staff, from breakfast (delicious) to concierge to spa manager, was charming. Our stay was fabulous and we hope to stay longer next year."

"I've researched this place for years and the reviews are always perfect and I can see why. Shannon and Scott run a great boutique hotel in the middle of paradise! They recently won Hotelier of the year and I can see why. This hotel did not disappoint whatsoever. All the reviews below are spot on. We arrived on a Monday morning as we had spent 1 night in St. Martin on the dutch side. Took a cab to the public water ferry to Anguilla. You need your passports in St Martin, they check them, then go to another window to pay a tax, then wait inside to board the pubic ferry, schedule is posted online and supposed to run on time, ours did so we thought and as we were to board, the boat pulled away and came back25 mins later. Its $20pp, cash once on the ferry. We sat outside up front, about a 25 min crossing. FYI when you leave Anguilla, have the hotel arrange for you the fast ferry, its $70pp but worth it so you get to your plane/airport on time in St. Martin, as the public ferry might not be dependable and you don't want to miss your flight. When you leave take the taxi to the blowing point ferry, check in where you pay the $140, then go to the window to pay the exit tax, that was over $50 total, then go through a small security area then wait till they tell you to board the ferry, its not like back home, its about a 35 ft boat that only seats 12 people. The channel was rough going back 4 footers hitting us on the side. I'm a boater and that was kind of unsettling. But got back to St. Martin Safe. That $70pp you pay also includes a blue ticket each which gets you from the port in St. Martin, to the bus that's waiting for you to go to the airport which you can see from the port. Bring cash to tip the porters who put your luggage on the boat, take it off and the driver who puts it in the van and takes it off. You arrive in the Anguilla port to go through customs again, bring your passport, they stamp it and ask where your staying. Then you can hail a cab, all are $18 to your destination. Only thing I would recommend it before you arrive at the Frangiapani resort is to ask the cab driver to stop(tip him extra) at the market literally around the corner not far from the hotel to get snacks if you didn't bring them.I'll tell you more later. We arrived at 10:50am and we were greeted by Shannon, the owner, who was in a cast at the time, good luck with your recovery and hoping in a few weeks it will be off. We ran into her husband Scott in Strawhat and he knew who we were and had a nice chat. There were a few girls working the desk and very friendly personable warm and welcoming. Gave you maps of the island and a restaurant booklet. Anguilla is a foodie heaven Shara is the girl that checked us in. She's a pretty big deal on the island, has her own band, Mystique Vibes and she's the lead singer. She told us on Thursdays her band plays down the beach at Waves, you can walk to it, so that is what we did on our last night. Wa"
"All of the fundamentals for excellence are, of course, in place: Shannon and Scott are exemplary managers and hosts (and Shannon even managed to look glamorous on a surgical scooter!), the facility is gorgeous, the rooms are lovely and spotless (thank you, Patricia!). But as others have noted, the service is above and beyond. Due to a longstanding medical condition, I had difficulty walking during our visit this year. The remarkable kindness and support of the Frangipani staff was incredible --from the front desk staff, the spa staff, through the beach staff, and even the Straw Hat staff, though they are separate from Frangipani. Juman and Colin, Angel and Renee made every day easy and wonderful. Their thoughtful kindness was a highlight of this trip ---our 13th to Anguilla. We are forever grateful."
"sorry for the delay. My husband and I visited in Jan for 8 days. We had been to Anguilla the prior year and stayed at the Reef. This resort was such a breath of fresh air. Small, pristine and chic. Our rooms were gorgeous, not your typical bright Caribbean decor, instead very soothing, perfectly appointed and great linens. I can not say enough Bout the staff. Shannon and Scott are so gracious, hands on, professional and it shows with the happy and amazing staff. Colin and his beach crew, Ross, Sherri at the straw hat, Shara and Shanesha at the front desk. This is an awesome group of people who make sure your experience is perfect. If you go to Anguilla make sure you go to this wonderful place."

116, Parc de la Baie Orientale, Collectivity of Saint Martin, French Saint Martin
"My husband and I stayed a week at La Playa and it was wonderful. The daily included breakfast was a treat and had a variety of options from croissants, fresh made eggs, fruit bowls, cereal and assorted meats. Our room was spotless and cleaned daily. The waterfall shower was a plus too! The beach was beautiful and great to walk. Be mindful that the Beach faces the Atlantic side so it is windy and great for kite surfing. We had 1 day where the water was perfectly swimmable. At the end of orient bay there is a nude beach and the water is calmer. Definitely check out catamaran tours because they take you around the whole island and you get up visit calmer beaches such as Happy Bay. Next to the hotel is a little market with a small convenient store for beverages, baguettes etc. in addition there are about 5-7 restaurants. Lastly, we LOVED La Astrolabe at the Esmeralda hotel. It was incredible for dinner. Overall, we really loved the updated hotel and attentive service at La Playa. We will definitely be back. Also, get a car for driving the island! It’s easy and you get to visit so many extra places. "
"La playa hotel is the perfect place to stay near the orient beach. Hotel reopened recently so all furnishings were new and decorated in excellent taste. Nice casual beach vibe. The kitchenette and refrigerator are big pluses. All the china and cutlery were nice quality. The staff were friendly and professional. Katy was the epitome of gracious hospitality. The hotel is located very close to the beach. The breakfast and bar area is on the beach edge., so you enjoy the breakfast looking at the ocean. The include breakfast is continental. The choices are the same daily so by the last day it gets a little tired. One can order eggs with bacon at a reasonable price which can help mix it up. The hotel is adjacent to orient Village which has many lovely restaurants a quick walk away. There is also a little mini market for water, wine, and simple make your own lunch items. Cute bakery Good Morning makes the best sandwiches with a great selection. We will definitely return to La Playa!"
"Thank you to the entire La Playa team for having us! We only stayed one night pre-cruise, but my husband and I already plan to come back and spend a week at La Playa. It is located on the French side of the island, with a great row of restaurants next to the resort. You could stay at the resort for 2 weeks and still not have eaten at all of the restaurants! Check in/reception is open air, which is beautiful. The rooms are unique and provide plenty of space. Julian was so kind and checked us in, walked us to the room to explain everything, and even helped us arrange for a cab to the port the next morning. We felt very safe in the room, as well as on the property. Breakfast is included, and is delicious! Plenty of beach chairs with umbrellas included in your stay too, which is great. We look forward to coming back and spending more time with you all!"

1A Rhine Road Maho Village, Lowlands, Sint Maarten

"This resort is trying to become a 5 star but they have a long way to go. We stayed at SOP from February 25 through March 3. We traveled with another couple and we both purchased the Sunset Swim-Up Suite with Butler Service. First let me say that we are Sandals people and have stayed at the Sandals Grenada and Sandals Montego Bay. The resort is right next to the runway of the airport. We knew this going in. The airport is also right next to the two Sandals resorts that I previously mentioned. The ride from the airport by taxi took less than 5 minutes and was $4 per person. We were taken to the hotel where we were met and driven by golf cart to the SOP lobby. We were greeted with cold towels and rum punch and our two butlers Sanjeet and Dane. Dane asked us since we were traveling together would we only like one butler. Sanjeet took gave us a tour of the resort while taking us to our rooms. Our friends were given room 128 which is the corner room next to the Edge Pool beach. When we went into the room it had a musty oder and the balcony on one side has a wall for privacy from room 129 but the other side is open to the beach area at the Edge Pool. My friends were not happy and requested to be moved. Which the hotel accomadated by moving them up to room 330 for 3 nights and then would move them to room 331 for the rest of our trip. When my friend asked if she would be reimbursed for the diffenence in the room catagories, the hotel manager told her that they would not be reimbursed because "this is a you problem, not an our problem". Suffice it to say, my friend call corporate and things were sorted out. The entire week we were there, someone who was not staying in room 128 would always be sitting on the wall or steps in front of that room. SOP is the only all inclusive resort on St. Martin until the Secrets opens. They do offer butler service, and while Sanjeet did a terrific job and should be commended for his hard work, politeness and willingness to go the extra mile; but SOP should take a lesson from Sandals. Sanjeet's hours were different every day and while he wasn't on duty you did not have a butler. The day he was off, we were told one of the other butlers would be available, but no one was. At Sandals, the butlers have to shifts, 7:00 to 3:00 and 3:00 to 8:00. You are given two butlers, morning shift and afternoon shift, so that you have a butler available at all time. We were in room 130 which was wonderful. It was perfect for us because we would go to the beach in the morning and return at the end of the day to relax on our balcony with our friends and have drinks, a snack and enjoy the last rays of the day. The food in the restaurants was good. We have a couple of meals that were not exactly hot; but we managed. Kayanne at Azul was wonderful for breakfast. She always had a smile on her face and went the extra mile to get you what you wanted. Derrick the bar tender upstairs at the Sky Bar was excellent. "
"Everything about our stay was amazing. I can't say enough about the staff at the Sonesta Ocean Point hotel . Everyone we encountered always went above and beyond to make sure we had the best vacation. Our bartender's by the pool Ronisca and Camille were superb. They made sure our glasses were never empty and they did it all with a smile. We had dinner most nights at Azul. The view was outstanding but the staff was even better. Tammy, our main server, was simply the best. She learned our likes and dislikes, shared some island history and suggested things for us to try. She along with all of the Azul staff are really what make this resort special. Tammy, Shingai, Annie, Rhiana, Kay Ann, Notoya, Ralneha, Melicia and Shaneequa were all outstanding. Each and everyone of the staff went out of their way to make sure we had an amazing experience. We started the week as strangers but ended it as friends. I can’t say enough about how awesome the staff are at this resort, they are the ones that made our stay magical."
"This is truly a five star experience from start to finish. There are so many friendly faces (even behind the mask) they're serious about safety and there are plenty of hand sanitizing stations all over the resort. Due to covid, there are limited number of restaurants and activities available. But i actually love it. Feels like i have the resort to myself.. From alex, giovanni, camille at the pool bar to Lorna, Diana, Simone at azul restaurant and Beatrix at the front desk and akeem at the lobby bar, gypsy the yoga instructor, Sinatra my masseuse, i felt like a vip the whole time. If i left anyone out, I'm soo sorry. You all are the reason i keep coming back!!!!! Fantastic experience each time. "

"If you are looking for the most perfect tropical beach vacation- your search is over! Carimar is absolutely stunning at the most beautiful beach I’ve seen in my life. The resort is the best of both worlds with an eat in kitchen for easy breakfasts/lunches and a few dinners in, but your bed is made a room is cleaned every day like a full service hotel. The bathrooms are updated and gorgeous, and the unit has everything you need (safe, iron, shampoo&conditioner) The staff are so friendly and helpful- they made dinner reservations for us, gave us beach chairs and an umbrella to take to explore the island, and had fresh pastries in the morning!! You can walk right to sunset drinks at the 5 star hotels in the area, and Blanchards beach shack next door has awesome casual food at great prices. Again- best of both worlds!! We have been on a few different trips to the Caribbean, now this will be our one and only tropical vacation destination."
" My wife and I have stayed at the Carimar Beach Club at least five times now. What a beautiful bay to swim, walk or whatever it is you like to do at the most lovely bay on the island. There is no pool or restaraunts but who needs then when your at the most incredible bay and you have Blanchard's Beach shack right next store. They have a full bar and menu all day and early evening. There are several dinner options on the bay as well. Ofcourse you can always cook in your room if you so desire. There is also a very convienant grocery and liquor store just outside the bay which is a very nice amenity. The Carimar also has a laundry room and gym across the street which we find very convienant. The manager and all the staff are always friendly and the rooms are always clean. Can't think of anything not to like. What a wonderful place. The chocolate chip cookies at the beach shack are amazing as well!! "
"Like the people of Anguilla, Carimar Beach Club is a beautiful and friendly resort. The staff is top-notch and the beach is only steps away from your villa. It is located on one of the most beautiful beaches on the island which is dotted with terrific restaurants and beach bars. The staff at Carimar will go the extra mile to make sure you have an enjoyable experience. We go back year after year because there is no place better for the food, the experience, and the relaxation of the facilities."

"I was fortunate to return to St. Martin this February and even more fortunate to be able to stay at the GCBC. What a marvelous visit from every standpoint. My last visit was when my wife and I spent eight days during Hurricane Irma. So much of the hotel was destroyed and even completely missing following the storm you had to wonder if it could ever recover? What they have accomplished in 2 short years is amazing! The rooms are completely redone and beautiful. The beach still beautiful and the landscaping is coming back. Perhaps one of the best additions is the restaurant which had been destroyed. New restaurant management, great menu with beach food, as well as excellent French offerings. Sabrina is still there and just seeing her smile in the morning makes for a great start to the day. The one thing that has not changed since Irma is the staff remains super attentive, efficient and friendly. People I hadn't seen in over two years greeted me by name and asked about my wife who couldn't make the trip. It was truly like coming home again. Steve Wright has done a marvelous job with his staff bringing back GCBC better than before the storm. St Martin still has a number of difficult issues to deal with primarily infrasructure and rebuilding, but GCBC isn't one of them. I am already looking forward to my next trip."
"We're getting on in years and my husband has a pinched nerve in his leg which makes walking difficult, so when we were first shown a room on the third floor with another flight of stairs inside the room to get to the bed, we asked for a different room and one was arranged on the second floor which was perfect. Best to ask for a room on the first or second floor unless you love stairs. The beach was just right--uncrowded, the water warm and calm and easy to get in and out of, the beach chairs comfortable and many people enjoyed the Caribbean. There was a pool, but we never visited it. The restaurant was quite good and the staff there was charming and friendly. A great place for sunset views and rum punch.. My husband pulled a tendon in his shoulder which became so painful that at 10:00 PM he decided he needed to see a doctor. The hotel arranged for an ambulance which took us on a 20 minute ride to the nearest hotel. The staff there were amazing. They spoke English, examined him, x-rayed his shoulder, gave him pain medication by IV and more medicine to take home plus a prescription. We were back at the hotel by 12:30 and the total bill for doctors, x-ray, ambulance, medications, IV and diagnosis cost $226. They even called a cab to take us back to the hotel. The hotel staff was very kind and helpful including Steve the manager who stayed with us until the ambulance arrived."
"Situated on the French side of St. Martin, GCBC is steps away from two beautiful beaches with soft white sand and translucent water. There is a beach for swimming laps and another for relaxing on a float or paddling an SUP. The rooms are spacious and have full kitchens and eating areas, terraces and private cabanas. There's an excellent restaurant on the hotel property, Sunset Cafe. The restaurant staff are friendly, helpful and upbeat. The charming Stelio, aka "Superman," lives up to his name, bringing beverages and food right to the beach or the quiet roof-top pool and deck area. The hotel staff are equally lovely and efficient. They will call you cabs and book restaurant reservations. They could not have been more attentive and pleasant. GCBC is an absolute gem! "
