Top 10 Rectory Hotels

My daughter booked this for a spa day for us. Sadly I wouldn’t recommend didn’t feel spa like at all. The girls in the spa were lovely but whilst having what was meant to be a relaxing massage all you could hear was loud music from a fitness class so couldn’t switch off. Had to be asked to be shown around and charged £10 for robe and slippers. Lunch was ok but for very little was £50 The pool area only had 6 beds in total other than that was chairs. Just not the relaxing spa day you would expect then there was no staff in the pool area where 3 young lads proceeded to keep water bombing in the pool so we didn’t go in. I’d avoid this if you wanted a relaxing peaceful day.

After watching the hot air balloon from Bristol, I found this resort on the way to Cardiff. The room and breakfast are great! The price of the hotel can live in such a five-star hotel really worth it! The only dissatisfaction is that it takes 15 pounds a night to park overnight.

Visited for lunch yesterday (Sunday 25th September) and as we have eaten here literally hundreds of times over the years we pretty much knew what to expect. Have never been let down by either the food or service. However yesterday was exceptional, I had some of, if not the best cooked fish I have ever eaten, and that includes a number of Michelin star restaurants both in the uk and abroad. Fish is simple to cook, but hard to cook really well, the chef here nailed it. Every member of staff we encountered were brilliant, polite, helpful and a credit to the hotel. Will be back next month .

Accommodation was adequate, very tired interior, very 80’s decor and needs new carpet and lick of paint, pool facilities were also out of date but acceptable. Now for the really bad bits, trying to get lunch which turned out to be an afternoon tea resulted in major discussions between staff to see if we could be accommodated. We were, it was nice enough but no where near rmtge £24 each paid, more like £15. We then decided to have a drink……..this is where one person, a lovely South African lad, could simply not cope with the bar and food orders on his own and we decided to leave than order another drink which I was dissatisfied with. However, when he asked for help from one of the waitresses, a very young Blonde girl, it was obvious she was as useful as a chocolate teapot and simply went off doing nothing of value rather than help. The evening meal was fine, excellent quality and quantity, but a bit pricey. Now, breakfast……if you didn’t mind queuing for 20 minutes, you were fine but very, very disorganised and very poor service, had to ask for plates, wait for some of the hot food or ask for it, and some if it was cold!!!! Overall, very disappointed with the stay and do NOT recommend it

Trip was booked as I was meeting someone at the mooring of my boat nearby. excellent location, and had opportunity to play tennis an swim, I also took advantage of the beautician having a manicure ready for an interview... im extremely pleased with the stay, room 51 was perfect for my requirements room 47 was lovely for my daughter. I will stay there again.

You will need to take advantage of the meal deal here. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Service and security was exceptional and lastly the food was top class and a crazy low price due to meal deal. Only place I will stay from now on. Thank you everyone.

What a wonderful place! We weren't meant to go here but the restaurant we had booked for our Girls Christmas lunch had closed down. Littlest Foodie found this place and as soon as I checked out the website and saw the Alpine Specials menu and the photos we had to give it a go. We weren't disappointed. As soon as we stepped inside we could have been in a Swiss Chalet. LF & I arrived first so had a hot chocolate & Baileys by the fire whilst we waited for Eldest Foodie. The Fräulein's looking after us were so lovely and the experience was made even better with them being in traditional style Swiss dress. We were able to mix and match between the menus and the food was great. Being a large establishment made up of different smaller rooms on split levels makes it feel so intimate and cosy. So we will be visiting again very soon. Hubby & I will stay over then in one of the cosy looking rooms which are very reasonably priced. Thank you everyone & we all wish you a very Merry Christmas
