"Had an amazing relaxing time at this superb establishment, from stress free service with a smile at the welcome spa reception to an excellent service at breakfast, lunch and the evening dinner. The newly renovated spa facilities is one of the best I have visited in the north west. Even with the Covid situation, the establishment have done a great job in making sure their guests are safe and well looked after. All the facilities were open for the guests to enjoy with some useful health and safety signs. The room was very nice and comfortable, the hotel even left a swan sculpture made from towels and even a anniversary balloon. That was a very thoughtful and much appreciated. The food and service served at each time was of the highest quality, I especially enjoyed the evening dinner time with nice food and ambience. One of things my wife and I noticed was how hard all the staff work to make sure you have a good time, all have a smile and a soothing demeanour to make you feel at home. We will definitely will be coming back to enjoy the hospitality."
"We booked the day spa package, with lunch and 50 minute inclusive treatment and it was worth every single penny! The facilities were stunning and so clean, there was plenty of space and beds available around the pool, everyone was practicing social distancing and the staff were all really helpful. We had the 50 minute body scrub and massage which was amazing, one of the best massages both of us have had. Lunch was lovely, there was a choice of a set menu, and everything both of us chose was delicious and really filling. If you wanted an alcoholic drink with lunch, this was extra but soft drinks were included. We also got a lovely goodie bag with a robe and flip flops to keep which was lovely. The cafe and Spa shop are both great, with a huge selection of snacks/drinks and lovely products to buy too, so plenty of refreshments available or bits of shopping to do during the day if you wanted to. We will definitely be coming back, it was hands down one of the best spa days both of us have ever been on! Next time we are booking the nights stay!"
"The best ever stay at one of the nicest hotels. It’s grand. It’s posh (but welcoming) and the staff are so friendly. Me and my work wife stayed here and we had trouble with our booking and the lovely Beth was so kind to really set our worries at ease whilst she sorted out our rooms. I have to say that Beth was one of the nicest staff members I’ve met in the world!!! And then James and Joe at the bar really made me and my work wife laugh. Perfect bar staff mix of good cocktail making and chat. Toiletries are Elemis. Rooms spotless. Meals are superb! So you know: Drinks and food expensive. Expect London prices."

"Now, we turned up and got shown the bedroom. May I add make sure you ask for room 3, roll top bath and 4 poster bed! Very romantic. Once we got settled we headed down for our food as we had booked a table to be greeted by great staff. The food was sublime and not only was the head chef a great cook but he also had the time at the end of the evening to sit and chat to us and show us around the outdoor gardens. All in all I would recommend this experience to any of my friends and family. Oh, and one for the interested....this place is steeped in history. Dig and you may be surprised to what you will find!"
"A fabulous outdoor tipi with pretty fairy lights, heaters, fire pit and social distanced tables. Really well organised, all the standard Covid rules adhered too whilst maintaining a relaxed environment. Our scallops, tempura prawns, celariac and apple soup starters were all tasty and hot. Equally the chicken skewers, lamb and beef shin mains were delicious. The chilled beer and mojito’s complimented the great food. Staff attentive, quick and professional. We look forward to returning again post lockdown 2."
"We have been to The Bridge many times before, but were considering trying somewhere else to celebrate Mum's birthday, until we realised that they have launched a new vegan menu. It was very good. The chefs have obviously put a lot of thought into the menu (and we were told that they are going to introduce more options in the next few weeks). A decent wine list too. Thank you for a really enjoyable evening."

"The Tudor Gothic style building is very impressive from outside with a castellated tower although the gardens need some work to tidy them up. It was very much in keeping with the Halloween weekend when we stayed. It is in a nice village with a canal and other walks nearby. The hotel has changed hands this year and I believe that renovations are in progress. There are some shabby areas, marked dining chairs and worn carpets. However the lounge looks lovely although we did not use it. Face masks must be worn by guests when walking around the hotel, although this doesn’t seem to apply to the staff! There was hand gel at the entrance (empty when we arrived but replenished later), at the top of the stairs and at the entrance to the restaurant. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights the weekend before the 2nd lockdown. We had booked it as a Groupon deal; 2 nights B & B with an evening meal on the first night with bottle of wine. I had emailed over a week before to book a time for our evening meal and request a room with a nice view as it was a special wedding anniversary. I was assured by Saskia that the meal was booked and she had put a note on the booking about our anniversary. We duly arrived and the receptionist was oblivious to our request and our meal was NOT booked so we had to re-arrange! There was no apology. The receptionist who checked us in was efficient but not exactly welcoming. I was also surprised (and horrified) when she licked her finger before leafing through the booking forms to find ours! As she did not wear a mask I assumed that she must have missed the Covid 19 briefing. All the younger staff and restaurant staff were friendly and wore masks in the entrance hall. The entrance hall is welcoming with a large open fire and central staircase decorated for Halloween. Fire doors on the way to our room did not close properly as they were swollen (or had too many layers of paint on) which was concerning. It’s not difficult to plane a door! Our room was in the newer part of the building, an extension. The door to our room was also swollen and the only way to shut it was to slam it very hard! Apologies to our neighbours! The room on first inspection was modern and nicely decorated although one light bulb had blown and there was only one bedside light which was not bright enough to read by. The bedding was nice and the bed reasonably comfortable. The bathroom was another matter! The basin had a crack in it, there was a long black hair in it and the basin taps did not match. The tiles were painted over and in places the white paint was peeling off and black mould was growing in the gaps. The water was VERY hot, the shower head was almost hanging off the wall and the angle was not adjustable so you had to either hold the shower head or stand right up to the taps. The towels were big and fluffy however. There was complimentary shower gel and shampoo. There was enough tea, coffee and milk for the first d"
"We first stayed at the Hollin House Hotel about 2 weeks after the new owners had taken over. It was a bit chaotic, and it was clear that it was very much a work in progress. Basically, everything that had been worked on was great, but there was a long way to go. This latest visit showed how dramatically the place has changed. The new manager has done wonders for the restaurant food - Excellent food, nice ambience. Far more of the bedrooms have been completed to a high standard, and the staff are as lovely as ever - Really friendly and helpful. It's still excellent value for money too. I would have given 5 stars but for the awful coffee at breakfast. Instant coffee was offered, and when I asked if there was any real coffee, I was presented with instant coffee in a coffee pot! Breakfast is clearly still a work in progress. We'll definitely stay there the next time we visit Wythenshawe (Bollington is on our way back down south) but I'll check to see whether I need to bring my own Aeropress and freshly ground coffee before leaving :-)"
"We liked our room and the restaurant and bar which has been completely refurbished since our last visit some six years ago . This is a quite hotel set in lovely grounds but also near the town centre . Good points , lovely restaurant , friendly staff and very clean . Our room was well appointed with a modern en suite . Bad points . We stayed on a deal with dinner included on the first night . We were disappointed how many dishes attracted an extra supplement including starters as well . We would not have minded supplements on steak etc but more dishes had supplements than those that didn't . I would suggest it would have been wiser just to award say £20 for each guest rather than trying to claw the money back in supplements . Breakfast on the first day was lovely but we came down the second morning to be told breakfast had finished at 9 am that morning instead of the usual 9-30 due to a power outage which the hotel were informed about some four days earlier . We were so disappointed having a 130 mile journey home in front of us . The lady serving us was most apologetic and did manage to rustle up a bacon sandwich and a cup of coffee . I was told by reception we should have been informed and as a good will gesture they didn't charge me for drinks I had in the bar the previous evening . The acid test is would we return and to be fair and honest yes we would . The good outweighed the bad so please don't be put off I"

"Love the team handling concierge services - casual yet respectful and genuinely concerned with your welfare. Spacious room with a killer bed and extremely comfortable furnishing. I was experiencing vertigo and had thrown up for a few times prior to check out and the reception allowed me to continue resting until I felt well enough to check out. Really appreciate such a kind gesture. I’ll definitely choose to stay at this hotel again when I’m in Manchester. "

"Host was very friendly and efficient. However, the room (3) was very tired! The whole room is in desperate need of a refurb. The loo was stained, the basin was stained and the plug for the basin was disgusting. The shower head kept falling apart and the mechanism for holding the shower head at an angle was faulty so that you had to hold the shower head to be able to direct the water. The whole room didn't look as if it had been vacuumed. We stayed 2 nights and the room wasn't serviced during our stay. All the common areas were even worse - peeling wall paper, dirty carpets etc. Once the pub kitchen was cooking, we could smell everything. That added with the smoke drifting up from the outside smoking area was not pleasant, although probably preferable to the road noise at the front of the property. I wouldn't stay here until the rooms have been totally refurbished."
"Love it here, been going for a few years now. The King William is far from the pretentious and the obnoxious a classic English pub great service too. Cannot recommend it enough especially when the football is on."
"NEW MANAGEMENT. Brilliant food, lots of ranged choices. Lovely staff and happy atmosphere. Good prices and a gorgeous, clean pub. Lots of gins and different choices of beer. Defenitly will be coming again."

"What a lovely place to stay! We stopped one night and wished it had been more. Our room was fantastic; the attention to detail was faultless and the king size bed was so comfortable. Our evening meal was very good but the breakfast quite outstanding with so much choice. We were made to feel extremely welcome and wouldn’t hesitate to return."

Pott Shrigley, Pott Shrigley, Cheshire East, United Kingdom
"We were given a spa and afternoon tea as a present. Booking this meant we had to book well in advance and state when we were going to take the afternoon tea. There is ample car parking ( I did not see a charge point for our electric car). The spa is in the converted church. We were given slippers, robe, and towel and directed to the changing rooms. There is a coded number for the lockers. I did not see any signs to shower first before entry to the spa. The showers are difficult to get hot and have poor water power ( My wife ended with a near cold shower. At least after trying three showers I found something warmer). It would have been nice to have something in addition to the shower soap dispenser eg. shampoo, conditioner. If you go to Japan you will find all of these in hotel spas, including disposable razors and shaving foam etc.such as toothbrushes. There is a moderate size swimming pool, steam room, sauna, and a couple of jacuzzis. All facilities are clean. There are loungers. There is a water dispenser by the pool side- shame for the environment to have plastic cups when paper ones are available even in high street coffee shops. I was really annoyed that I had to pack a wet swim suit when almost every other hotel spa facility has had a spin-dryer ( as does my fitness club pool. A walk around the hotel corridors and down the stairs, with its magnificent dome ( why is there a helium balloon floating at the top?) takes you to the tea room with a nice view of the grounds and comfortable arm chairs ( if you wish). We were offered some prosecco or juice. Although on time for our booking, we waited 10 minutes thereafter. The hight tea had some merit. The sandwiches were without imagination ( egg - plain, grated cheese- plain, tuna - plain). A choice of brown or white bread would have been nice ( we had a mixture). The little scones were warm, and nice with the small commercial jar of strawberry jam and generous cream. The shortbread was excellent , as was the chocolate cake. The lemon posset was nice. The tea and coffee fine. Really though, I could have baked and cooked similar, and my no means am I a chef. With a little more thought, the high tea could be upgraded to good-excellent. The spa needs to have the facilities within the changing rooms upgraded to that which you would expect from an ensuite in such a hotel. A hot shower with water power is fairly essential. The place was not crowded as the corona virus pandemic was just getting going in the UK."
"We stayed here in March 2020. We had a Spa facial which was excellent. It was a very relaxing experience and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The 3 course meal which was booked for 7pm was absolutely delightful. We had Leek and potatoes soup followed by pressed Lamb which was so tasty and tender. My raspberry Bakewell tart was so light. The bedroom was very nice as was the ensuite. There was a bit of a treck to find the bedroom, there was a droning noice from the radiator which did disturb our sleep. I notified the hotel and they said they would get maintenance to check it out. This would not put me off staying here again as we had a wonderful time in lovely surroundings. Give it a try when you are able. Well done to the attentive staff."
"My friend and I stayed at Shrigley Hall on an overnight spa break package over the weekend. The staff we met were very nice however the spa itself was way TOO busy. It was not relaxing at all which was so disappointing. The spa bar / restaurant was significantly understaffed due to the numbers of people in the spa,at some points during the day it was chaotic - queues for fizz, staff running around, finished crockery not being taken away, no glassess available which meant others being washed far too quickly. The spa itself was ok - standard facilities. There was not enough lockers for everyone, no loungers / seats available, lots of towels / drinks dotted all over as too many people were booked in. This was not a good experience for what was supposed to be a planned relaxing weekend. Evening dinner was nice, a different experience all together. The food was delicious. The restaurant staff were superb. Our room was comfy and clean, a bit outdated however it was fine for a one night stay. Breakfast was nice, a good range of choices. Following breakfast we had a full body message as part of the package which was lovely. My friend and I enjoyed our time together however we both said we would not return at all. I have emailed the hotel seperately to let them know my review, (no response as yet)."

"Had the pleasure of looking round the leisure and spa facilities at The Waterside Hotel the other day. Alex showed us around, he was extremely welcoming and informative. He took the time to show us around and explain all of the facilities to us (there’s so much available and so much space so there was a lot to see!) including all the changes that have been made to make the venue Covid safe. I particularly liked that the gym had lots of different areas to it rather than one large intimidating space as can be the case with other gyms. We had looked around another premium gym in the area and found that The Waterside really had the wow factor so decided to sign up straight away. Beautiful pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi all now open again after initial covid reopening restrictions. I’m particularly impressed with that the leisure centre has a separate ladies gym accessed through the changing rooms but the main gym area also had a very friendly non-intimidating feel to it also. And the gym being open 24 hours is amazing and means I have no excuses to not go! Excited to try some of the classes (of which there’s a great variety) getting involved with the SWIMTAG system of monitoring swimming. And learning more about the Mywellness system that’s all linked through the fancy Waterside app. I’m really looking forward to my gym visits now... and not just because I plan to watch Netflix on the treadmills then have a pint in the bar after(although let’s face it it’s an added bonus of joining a luxury facility like this)."
"This hotel is older but incredible, and really nice. I am a serious weight lifter so finding hotels that have good gyms in them is nearly impossible. This hotel has a gym as good or better than my gym at home! It is huge and has everything you need to get any workout you want. Strength training, cardio, classes, CrossFit and more. There is a sauna, hot tub, and lap pool. Besides that the staff is truly incredible and accommodating and the food is excellent. I will definitely stay here the next time I'm in the UK."
"I stayed here for two nights and I was extremely happy. Leisure facilities are great ( unfortunately due to Covid some were unavailable but this is no fault of the hotel ) the two staff who were working on reception for my two days were fantastic. Nothing was an issue for them and they were always on hand to help. I believe they were called kelly and red. I ate dinner in the hotel one night which was reasonable priced and very nice. Breakfast both mornings was excellent too. If there was a downside it was the size of the room which was billed as a small double but the bed was more like a 3/4 but other than that everything was great !"
