"Booked in on deal as an alternative to Rome having being cancelled. Unfortunately for us we left with a sour taste due to dirty hotel throughout. Explaining that we had a large wedding day before should not be an excuse to have litter all over hotel floors. Party popper, clothes tags, hairs and general dirt was not cleaned up. Check in is at 1500. Despite this we couldn’t get into our room until 1520 and even then our room was wet through from mopping. Not good enough. Smacks of poor time management by housekeeping team or not having enough staff to cope with a large wedding. But how was this our problem!!!! If you deal in this type of hospitality business you should be all over this type of occasion. Being led to a dirty room for cream tea is off putting whilst eating. My fiancé slipped in our bedroom when entering due to excessive wet floor no signs displayed. The room itself whilst opulent had poor paintwork and scuffs up the wall. Shower had mold in it and pubic hair was found on floor on arrival. Room 23 - avoid this suite. Oh and the mattress protector was half the size of the bed leaving an uncomfortable lump under sheets to sleep on. Spa was ok but the loungers were in poor repair and need to be replaced. Evening meal however was fab and definitely worth while easy to understand why it has attained the acclaim it has. Michael must be singled out as excellent and extremely attentive. A huge asset to an otherwise poor hotel at this time. The manager was polite and extremely apologetic reducing our bill. Not what we sought after having one holiday cancelled already. In hindsight I should have asked for full refund except food which as previously mentioned was amazing. This hotel whilst fantastic on initial appearance is not what it seems. It’s fine having a period theme but you need to maintain more than appearance. It needs to be clean for the amount of money it costs. I feel like this place is struggling. Avoid at all costs at the moment. The offer to return will never be taken up. I’d rather have taken my chance in Italy at the minute if flights were available. "
"Greeted by a stately facade and warm welcome at reception I'd been looking forward to this stay. We weren't disappointed as we viewed our room, complete with four poster, and relaxed in the spa (pool, sauna and steam room). The gym was small and compact (1 treadmill, 1 rower, 1 stepper, 1 bike) but was enough to build an appetite for the evening meal. We both agreed that the food was spectacular - real effort had been put in and the dark panelled dining room the right place for a romantic meal. Enjoying a couple of cocktails/beers in the library and bar was the perfect end to the evening. If we hadn't been dashing off to Holy Island the next day we'd have explored the maze in the garden - one for next time."
"Just left the hotel after a fantastic relaxing weekend. It is a stunning old country house. We stayed in a dinner bed and Breakfast rate and booked a spa treatment each. The food was fine dining at its best and this wasn’t true at dinner the breakfasts were also top quality. Each Ingredient was flavoursome and this is cooking at high skills levels. The back neck and shoulder massage was the best we have ever had. Like any Old building if you want to find faults you can. But if you can’t enjoy yourself here then you shouldn’t go to This type of hotel!! All of the staff work hard and we will return! Alan "

"Hotel is lovely, although a bit worn in some areas. Food was nice in Dobson restraunt but high priced. Drinks also very expensive, 3 drinks were around 38 pounds. Nice setting for breakfast which good cooked options, however it seemed to be cooked in bulk. As soon as we ordered it was with us, all of the food was cold but served on a hot plate. We were visiting as a group of 4 on a spa package. The spa was shockingly bad. Hardly any seating, old towels and slippers left around the pool. Lots of children playing in the pool taking away and type of relaxed atmosphere you may desire. Jacuzzi not working, which we were not advised of until arrival although apparently had been out of use for some time. It was a huge eyesore, red tape around it, with a cover and cone plonked in the middle of it. We hoped that the treatments would help improve our opinions but no, also quite disappointing for all of us. Did not last 25mins as advertised. Focused on one area of back as stool she was sitting on was on the left side of me so stayed mainly there instead of moving around. Handbag and personal items left out and open on beauty bed. Yawned throughout my friends treatment. Just all in all not very professional. I felt sorry for couples who came in ready for spa and immediately turned around looking as disappointed as us! Extremely disappointing for something which cost altogether just short of 700 pound! On a positive, I would like to say the staff in the hotel and restraunt were very pleasant and friendly."
"Stayed with my girlfriend for the second time returning trip Beautiful country hotel with amazing views around GM Jeff was so kindly welcome us on the door. Reception staff was very professional with check in procedure Room is beautiful and clean, the bed is huge and comfortable. Spa is good, there were not many people in, so you can actually swimming. We had food at restaurant, food was delicious and service was excellent. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that like country hotels Thanks linden hall We will be back "
"Stunning hotel in beautiful grounds, would be great for any event or short getaways to relax. The staff were amazing from reception to management especially Sophie on reception who recently got married to the most handsome groom, she is a lucky lady. I will definitely be back to try the golf course which looked in great condition. Food was excellent and one of the best cooked breakfasts I’ve had at a hotel. My room was immaculate with beautiful views of the grounds and golf course. I can’t praise this hotel enough. Dan"

"Myself and my wife stayed for one night in this beautiful hotel as a birthday treat. The staff were brilliant, the room outstanding and the food delicious. We stayed in a 'Luxury Double Main House Room' that had a four poster bed, a huge bathroom, was very tastefully decorated and very clean. The room had complimentary Teas and Coffee and the receptionist provided us with fresh milk on arrival. We then headed down to the library bar to have a drink before our meal where we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful Australian bartender. We received beautiful canapés in the bar while waiting to be seated for our meal. The evening meal was outstanding and we enjoyed every mouthful, one suggestion about the evening meal experience would be that they play some light music in the dining areas like they do in the reception area as at times it was very quiet and at times we felt like we had to whisper to one another. The following morning we enjoyed a walk around the beautiful grounds after our full English breakfast. I would 100% return and will be recommended Eshott to friends and family. Thank you for a beautiful stay."
"We arrived just as the second Lockdown was being announced. I felt very sorry for the (mainly very young) staff, who all did their utmost to make his feel safe as well as welcome. Housekeeping was reduced because of the pandemic, but staff were helpful in replenishing stocks. Hotel and room were both very clean. We had Room 7, The Drey, which overlooks the gardens and is very pleasantly appointed with a nice arrangement of furniture. Towels and linen both very good. Food was good without being groundbreaking. The meat was of very high quality, the presentation appealing and the portions lavish. I do have to comment that while we were there, twice our order came out with a major ingredient missing. Both times the missing food was quickly and apologetically brought out, but it does point up that there is a bit of a lacuna in the training of the waiting staff. Maybe staff numbers were greatly reduced because of current conditions, but the problem does need to be nailed. "
"We really enjoyed our 2 night “pick and mix” package. 2 nights B&B, dinner one night and afternoon tea the next. There are a few areas where the hotel is a bit scruffy; it could do with a deep clean of reception, stair and corridor carpets; the wallpaper in our bathroom has seen better days and; the room is missing any “lux” touches, it is still really worth a stay - even just for the food which is exceptional. Dinner was a relatively simple menu but delivery was fab - lovely rib-eye steak and pork medallion and an outstanding lemon soufflé. Breakfast of Seahouses kipper and smoked salmon was equally excellent. A massive and beautiful afternoon team topped it all off. The staff are hard working, polite and attentive. In all a good value package in a lovely setting, just don’t worry too much about the slightly battered look, it is part of the charm. "

"We walked across Beadnell beach from Seahouses and decided to try this place instead of our usual Craster Arms. We were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome and the team were very accommodating. Initially we were only going to have a drink then decided to have a light lunch and ate in the bar, as opposed to the restaurant. All very covid compliant and fast and good service. A nice find and we will certainly return."
"We stayed for one night in the Lonnen room which was superb. Really comfy bed, high quality interiors in the room and a lovely big bathroom. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were really good and we really couldn't fault this place. There is parking outside the hotel in a car park and on street and you can walk to an amazing beach nearby. Its dog friendly and all the staff were very friendly."
"Following a walk to Craster we called in hoping a table was available. We were very hungry so following the Covid checks and track and trace. We were led to a table, the food was excellent the service and beer was excellent. We had an excellent meal we booked again for another night later in the week. Looking forward to eating here again."

"This boutique hotel in Alnwick was chosen by our family to be our base leading for my daughters wedding at the Alnwick Garden Treehouse. It’s a really tight arch from the road to the decent sized car park at the rear. ( 2x disabled spaces) so take care, closed wing mirrors is a must if you can. There is no lift but it’s not the end of the world. Spacious rooms (we had “Muckle & Marra”) with good bathrooms. Cleanliness was great and very comfortable. The staff were exceptional, friendly and gave us the rare feeling these days that they actually cared if we were comfortable, happy with the service, meals etc. Every request was met with a smile and enthusiasm even to the point of supplying me with the private mobile of a lady who was prepared to stay up late at home and return to the hotel after midnight to let us in rather than have us use the usual late entrance. Smart comfortable bar for snacks or meals and a very nice first floor restaurant. Many thanks to all, especially Claire and Kelly. I would highly recommend the Plough for accommodation, meals and snacks. "
"We recently held our wedding at the Plough and we wanted to leave a review to say thanks to Claire and her staff. We both loved ever second of the day, all thanks to the efforts of the Plough staff who made sure that proceedings went smoothly. From the beautifully set out ceremony room to the amazing transformation that occurred to then house our wedding breakfast, Claire and her staff ensured that every detail was perfect for our wedding day. The quality of the food was second to none and commented upon by all our guests, it truly was high quality and we look forward to visiting again to sample other menu items."

"Well...the photos speak for themselves! I was in the Clayport room for a night, very good spec and nice extras with Elemis toiletries. Very clean and no issues with the room at all. Opted for the Sirloin for dinner and very reasonably priced and cooked to perfection. Full Northumberland breakfast and friendly, welcoming and attentive staff. Highly recommend and will be returning! "
"Alnwick is probably best known for Alnwick Castle, site of the 2nd largest inhabited castle in England. Quidditch scenes from Harry Potter movies were filmed here. The Dirty Bottles Inn is a pub with wonderful rooms and very welcoming staff. If you find yourself in Northumberland, make this a destination! Very heartily recommended!"
"This place is so central and so quirky. Great friendly staff. Sparkling clean, spacious and modern rooms. Loved the Elmis products. Definitely recoomend for poeple coming for a long weekend. Breakfast was delicious too and they catered for the fact we had to be on the road early!"

"The seats are very good, very close to the castle, also in the city center, very close to the Morrison supermarket. There is a free parking lot, just turn left for two consecutive times, see the hotel name written on the white sign on the left, and then turn left. The aunt at the front desk has taught in China and also has grandsons of mixed Chinese and English, so I see Chinese people are particularly enthusiastic, the hotel restaurant is great, breakfast is a combination of buffet and order, which is relatively high-end. But the room is a bit old."
"Very close to Alnwick Castle, the hotel is old, the hotel breakfast is good"

"We stayed for my partners birthday, the idea was to use the hotel as a base for a few days out. The hotel is perfectly located and only a 3-4 minute walk from the beach. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and the room was quiet and warm with all the expected amenities. The bed was a nice size and very comfortable, the shower was a perfect temperature and nice and powerful too. Breakfast was served by a very pleasant lady and the full English was delicious. We ate in the restaurant for the first evening and I had the Calzone which was amazing and came with a sauce which was a perfect accompaniment. The waiters and bar staff where all really nice and welcoming. We hope to return in the spring/ summer so we can enjoy the amazing views without the constant rain and wind :)"
"The Hope and Anchor is a most comfortable and welcoming bed and breakfast. The shower room was superb even in one of their smaller rooms and all the rooms are dog-friendly. There is a lovely open fireplace in the bar area with comfy sofas and the staff are very efficient and friendly. There is an Italian restaurant attached but we ate in the pub (with our dog) where it is the same menu. My husband pronounced his stroganoff to be excellent and my tiramisu was delicious. Breakfast offered many choices including craster kippers and eggs benedict. Unfortunately our stay in our beloved Alnmouth was brief this time as we were en route to Edinburgh but we return there over and over again as it is so beautiful; hence we would highly recommend both the village and the Hope and Anchor."
"We were staying in Lesbury nearby, and couldn't find a table anywhere in nearby Alnmouth. Fortunately I found the Hope and Anchor, what a pleasant surprise, a lovely restaurant, staff polite and helpful, even though they were busy. Obviously in todays climate of Covid, we respected wearing masks, there was plenty of sanitizer and tables were spotlessly clean. The food was fantastic, we were sat near the wood fired oven, where they were making pizzas for takeaway. Plentiful portions, not to out face you but good value for money. The lasagne was moist and meaty and my smoked salmon tagliatelle was delicious. Also a good wine list and dog friendly. We will be back when we next visit. A great find"
