Route de Salernes, Lorgues, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France
"Arriving at Chateau de Berne is quite impressive... right you exit the main road, you start to climb the charming hills of Provence full of olive trees, vineyards and pine trees... the scenic is quite spectacular really and this feeling of going to somewhere special is even stronger because it takes a good 20 minutes on a small little road with strictly nothing around before to discover the Estate and its elegant castle. The estate itself is huge because Chateau de Berne is also a well known wine estate but the hotel is secluded in a private part surrounded by lovely gardens and the view is so peaceful, beautiful and relaxing giving the impression you're alone in the world and this is something so precious, especially at that time. When we arrived in middle afternoon, we've been wonderfully welcomed by Christine, the adorable general manager and a very kind receptionist offered us a chilled glass of Rose wine from the estate when sitting in the comfy outside lounge and chatting with the GM. Perfect check on showing a very strong commitment in the guests satisfaction and happiness and an outstanding "taking care". We've been escorted by Christine herself to our very nice Jr Suite (a great upgrade due to our booking with Virtuoso) with a massive private terrace overlooking the castle and the forest. Room was very spacious with high ceilings, perfect bathroom with double sinks, bathtub and separate shower all in a classical and traditional Provence style design. A little bit too much traditional to our taste (with such incredible buildings and castle, there was a potential to do something more spectacular like in other wine estates which have developed an hotel like Delaire Graff and Leeu Estates in South Africa or Chateau de la Gaude in Aix en Provence for examples). That said, our Jr Suite pleased us a lot, we enjoyed the complimentary bottle of wine on our terrace with a little breeze and the song of the surrounding nature and we slept deep and well thanks to perfect bedding features. We enjoyed walking all around... herbs garden is wonderful, outside infinity pool large and with perfect loungers but was too windy and a little too cold to enjoy so after walking exercise we went to the perfect inside pool and spa. State of the art equipment and very kind staff. Concerning palates pleasures, chateau de Berne has got a Michelin star (one star) restaurant but being in between two dinners in 3 stars Michelin restaurants, we wanted something more simple and went to the Bistrot... a little disappointing to be frank despite of a very nice service. Food was just OK, nothing special but the less nice was maybe the design and restaurant layout with wrong lighting and a cold atmosphere. It's an interesting option to offer a bistronomic restaurant but it has to be cute which is not exactly the case at Chateau de Berne... a point to improve. In the morning, staff welcomes you with an extreme kindness and generous smiles but due to covid conditions,  you c"
"I like to evaluate hotels and restaurants for the place itself and for what feeling they give you. Chateau de Berne is really such a beautiful place! My favourite thing about the place is most probably their garden. It's really big, beautiful and very well cared but at the same time a little bit wild and natural somehow with so many places to discover and have a rest or hide if you crave some quite time. Rooms are nice (we were staying at junior suite) just the bed unfortunately is really not comfortable. Reception seemed a little bit cold and ceremonial for us but all other interaction with staff was really nice, friendly and simple- just how we like it. Majority people working there seem to be relaxed and happy and if people working there feel good that says a lot of about the place and its service. Their SPA is really nice too. As chateau is producing their wine, they have an interesting tour telling about their wines and it's really worth joining! I love chateau restaurant - Bistrot, it's simple and nice. The staff is really nice and food is always good. They will always prepare something for vegetarians too! The "Restaurant gastranomique" - food was really very good (one of the best vegetarian menus I had in gastranomique restaurants lately and they made an extra mile preparing it as normally they do not have a vegetarian menu), staff was nice and friendly just....it was very very LONG waiting between dishes. You better don't be in a hurry :) We really loved the place and we felt good at chateau de Berne and it's the place where I will be happy to go back."
"Fantastic grounds, beautiful room, could be wonderful BUT the staff are not adhering to COVID19 rules: the car valet had his mask under his nose (so right off the bat we didn't feel safe, and now our car is potentially contaminated) and the older front desk woman had her mask around her chin, and when we asked her to put it on, she did but then let it slip below her nose. They really don't care about keeping customers safe. Dirty room: Equally worrying was the dirty condition of the room. Really gross. Food on the ottoman at the end of the bed (not stains, fresh food) and gross stains on the other furniture, the walls, the bathroom amenities, etc. Even the toilet flush had fingerprints on it and the seat was dirty. Unreal. Food issues: Also, they don't offer room service breakfast! They force you to have your overpriced €70 breakfast indoors with other people, during COVID-19! Plus, I see others are upset about this too, but it's very hard/ boring to eat here if you want plant-based or even vegetarian food. Half of the room service menu is pre-made and in jars, and the minibar is seriously lacking (one juice, one beer, one coke, none organic...) Plus, when I booked they didn't tell us that the restaurant would be closed, and we wanted a drink but no bartender is on duty... The expensive room service menu says 24/7 but that's not true, as we were told we could only get 95% of the menu after the kitchen opens at 7:30pm. Other annoyances: Also, small but annoying: only two pillows (no spares in the closet), no water cups. We really wanted to like this place, but it's all a real disappointment."

7270 Route du Luc, La Garde-Freinet, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France
"Liked · The hotel and the grounds are fantastic, really great potential. Our room was also so picturesque, waking up there was a dream. Also noting how recently they will have reopened after COVID, I think the staff were very efficient and lovely. Location is great provided you have a car because taxis are exceptionally expensive (minimum 60 euros to get anywhere id guess) Disliked · When I am paying nearly 300 euros a night, I don’t expect to have to buy my own shampoo and conditioner. Additionally, we were charged £20 a head for breakfast, even though this was never mentioned to us, and we didn’t sign anything each morning. In fact, often, it was only one of us having breakfast at the restaurant, yet we were charged for both. Bathroom was poorly designed so water leaked all over the floor when the shower was on, and things were not working properly (I.e. the soap dispenser in the bathroom was broken). I also think there are some additional points which should be considered given the cost of the room: - bathrobes - toiletries such as cotton buds, shower caps, alongside the basics such as soap, shampoo, conditioner (which I’m shocked weren’t available) - towels for the pool available near the pool, rather than up at the main hotel This hotel has great GREAT potential, but it really needs some improvements for the price"
"We visited here from Nice, for 3 nights, and loved it! A super modern hotel with a good vibe, beautifully designed, good food and even a DJ on the weekend. Also enjoyed the pool and pop-art library. Took a day trip to St Tropez, which was a bit of a drive but good to see. Lovely stay!"
"I went with friends and spend an amazing night, the staff was great specially the bartender Geoff makes the best cocktails (Mademoiselle and Pour Monsieur), the place has everything to spend a great time with your friends, definetely will come back."

"What a wonderful place! Not only is it beautiful, tranquil, charming, but the hosts are just lovely! A bit of background to give you some credentials: I have come to the Cote D'Azur and especially Grimaud and Port Grimaud since 1974! That's a long time. However, lately - that is the past 10 or 15 years - we haven't come that much. Why? Because we felt it is very expensive and for that price the people just weren't friendly. Lots of annoyed reactions, aloof attitudes. Not pleasant. Not here! Anja and her family are just wonderful. Anja ist German, her husband French and her son, Maxime, speaks German, French and English very well. So does his mother by the way. Anja told me that when they bought the place, Maxim quickly discovered: "That's what I want to do with my life". How wonderful is this? A young man who find his vocation and lives it? Don't we all dream of that? And it shows. Maxime is a perfect host, gentleman and a lovely person. His father introduced himself as "the gardener" - what gentle and humble an attitude. And Anja is just a wonderful, beautiful woman. So loving... I don't know about you, but for me, that's more important than whether the right cheese is available at breakfast (which it is!), or the beds are good (which they are!). We felt like part of the family right away... Thank you so much for making us feel at home."
"Stayed here as a family of 4 with 2 children (2 & 8). A family run property with beautiful grounds, very nice perfectly clean rooms, friendly and personal service (you feel as though you are staying at a friend's place), beautiful clean pool, perfect driving distance to Saint Tropez, restaurants, beaches etc. Breakfast is very nice, lunch menu limited, and no dinner on-site, but we went out every night anyway! Would love to visit again and would highly recommend to anyone! "
"Beautiful and quiet hotel perfect for relaxation and no one to bother you! Clean and good people! Owned by a family that they make you feel like home!! The only thing is that in the low season that we came besides breakfast they don't give anything else for food...but having saint Tropez about 15 minutes drive it's ok or Sainte maxime 20 minutes that is also a beautiful place and you can eat a bit better that saint Tropez!"

2469 RN555 Quartier Sainte Roseline, Le Muy, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France
"I had a pleasure of visiting the hotel as part of a guided cycling tour and it proved to be a great choice for the last night of the tour. Welcoming hosts, warm reception/bar area, really nice wellness area with inside heated pool, sauna, cardio equipment and weights. Rooms get the job done, the inside doors were a bit squeaky but otherwise ok. Really liked the bathroom with the pebbles on the floor. Restaurant with the fireplace adds to the charm, as does the great food they serve. Nearby there are several vineyards as well as a historical chapel of St. Rosalie. It’s a great starting point for several cycling/hiking tours, so I’m definitely coming again."
"this place is just outside the Chateau Roseline and is well worth stopping for a meal. The good is uncomplicated and very tasty. Service is friendly and efficient. Lovely way to have a break while visiting vineyards "

Route Nationale 7, Le Cannet-des-Maures, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France
"We spent 2 nights attending a wedding nearby so upfront to say: we didn’t get to spend much time in the hotel. However the hotel keeps its promises and for our purposes it was perfect. Checkin was smooth and fast and our room was fine - ask for a quiet room. The hotel is very close to the highway so having a room in the wrong side can be noisy. To be honest I can’t imagine passing my summer vacation here (no beach or city to visit) however for a short stay or lay over its great. The pool is nice and located behind the hotel, they have an outside sitting and dining area that looks cozy. Free WiFi is a given, so on any occasion where we need a place to stay: we will come back. One last thing (that’s why the 4 stars): there is no room service or restaurant service outside the meal times which can be a bit uncomfortable when you arrive hungry during the day- like we did. "
"This hotel is a great place to stay. Although navigation when going to rooms upstairs is confusing as you don't know if you are walking through the door that leads the way or somewhere private! I can honestly say I had the most comfortable sleep here and woke up really refreshed. The staff are also very friendly, however when it comes to the night porter you may need to know some French. There is also a pool, unfortunately I didn't get to use it though! As for breakfast. It was also a highlight as you can get anything you want and felt ready for the day ahead. "
"I had a pleasant stay. The personnel was simply awesome. Rapid, open minded, always friendly, in the same time staying naturally. The personnel at the welcome desk as well as the cleaning personnel or the personnel preparing, serving and managing breakfast, lunch and dinner. Any questions were answered and solved immediately. To be honest: no real negative point."

Rue Claudius Camail, Le Thoronet, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France
"I held an event here a while ago. Dealing with the staff to book rooms and hold a dinner there was the definition of a nightmare. Everything is done with pen and pencil and if you don't speak french then forget it. I had a french relative call on my behalf and she was even exasperated by their incompetence. At one point the chef picked up the phone to try to help out b/c the others couldn't handle it. The hotel screwed up the bookings for ALL the guests, even though I worked with the hotel two months in advance for at least 10 hours, for 5 hours a few days before everyone arrived, and even had to help the guests straighten out their bookings while they were there. The guests were only there for one to two nights and they occupied most but not all the rooms. The french woman at the desk was a complete b*, even for french standards, and refused to work with anyone to straighten out the bookings (and never apologized for her incompetence). The owners/management was nice but also incompetent. They should fire the woman who handles the bookings and get a computer system. They did everything by hand. Moreover, they charged all the guests the wrong prices and gave many the wrong room, incorrectly charging guests more for larger rooms that they never wanted and requested. I stayed in the hotel a few days before the guests arrived and there were many black ants on the floor in the room. We held an event at the hotel, and they incorrectly expensed us for wine bottles that they did not serve. The food was also very mediocre. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who does not speak french. There are many other boutique hotels in the area. Stay elsewhere."
"What a disappointment! The triple room was very small, with a small, squeaky and uneven double bed. Air conditioning stopped working at some point, but we only realized in the middle of the night when we woke up sweating. Breakfast was basic. The location is nice and quiet, with a nice swimming pool, but this remains incredibly overpriced for the experience! "

Domaine du Lac DN7,Quartier Le Lac,., Flassans-sur-Issole, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France
"We stayed one night only, I wish it had been more. A lovely setting, peaceful and tranquil. Superb grounds and we had a nice room in one of the rooms in an adjacent building. A lovely pool area set in gardens below the hotel. The evening meal was excellent and wine to match. We chose to eat outside on the lovely patio under the cool of the trees. Superb ambience. I haven’t had steak tartar in 30+ years and it was superb. The staff were all friendly, helpful and polite. The ladies in the restaurant especially so. Very good value for money. The room was big, a huge bathroom and the only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is that there was no kettle and refreshments in the room. The room was easily big enough for this and disappointing they didn’t provide that. I didn’t ask for one as we always travel with a kettle and full supplies. Good value at £90 a night. That didn’t include breakfast which is £10 a head extra if wanted. I would return "
"I stayed here several nights. Check in was okay - the guy spoke English very well. My room was large with a huge bathroom. It had AC and heating. Bed was very comfortable. The shower was hot and powerful - there was a tub as well if you wanted to use it. The hotel is in the forest and it is very quiet. There is loads of parking. There is a main building and then rooms only building a bit further up the driveway. WiFi was free and very strong - I could email graphics. The restaurant was very good and the had a great breakfast (continental) selection as well. There was a very nice outdoor swimming pool but it was a bit cold to try it. I for sure would stay here again."
"Hotel Domaine du Lac is a beautiful place to stay while in this region. The rooms are generous, immaculately presented, clean and in a setting that is 5 star.Staff are friendly and helpful.A peaceful oasis with lovely gardens to enjoy. If staying ensure that you have a meal in the restaurant as food is delicious using local and home grown produce. We wish we could have stayed longer."
