"I've always enjoyed staying at the Hawthorne Hotel. It certainly is gorgeous! Amid all the COVID concerns we weren't super comfortable traveling but we really needed to get out, so we packed up our 3 month old and went for a one-night-stay. The check-in process was seamless and contact free. Parking is plentiful. The room was large enough for all of us, and they include a crib for babies upon request. Here are my small hang ups: We booked through Booking.com, which states cribs are free of charge (I have a screenshot). We were charged $10 for the crib. I tried reaching out via email with the screen shot, through Booking.com, left a voicemail, and no one ever got back to me. There was a similar problem with communication when we accidentally left the charger to my breast pump behind. We called and the lady at the front desk said the maid staff was gone for the night and she couldn't access lost and found. I really needed the charger because our daughter won't nurse so I was in a tight spot. No one would, or could, help us. If anyone has ever had to pump before, and knows what it's like when you need to, then you know that it truly sucks! Anyway, whomever I spoke to would not/could not check if the charger was found (we would have driven over to get it), and no one ever called us back about it. Kind of disappointing."
"My boyfriend and I came here for 2 nights and we already can't wait to book our reservation for next year. The hotel all around including our room was extremely clean and organized, and it was so close to all the attractions. The staff were attentive and very polite too! The hotel had its own parking lot which is such a plus since we didn't have to worry about our car whatsoever, or take any Ubers since we were walking distance of it all. I highly recommend this establishment for its home style comfort and atmosphere :)"
"The Hawthorne was a quiet historic hotel in the heart of Salem. Walking distance to the Essex Museum, House of Seven Gables and other historical landmarks. We especially enjoyed a spacious room featuring two bathrooms and the most crisp, fresh, and cozy bedding I’ve ever enjoyed. I would have rated this a five star if not for the snooty hostess who could not bother to even look at hotel guests as she turned them away from their Sunday brunch, an apparently popular event for guests and locals alike!"
