Via Della Pineta, Carovigno, Apulia, Italy

"The hotel is lovely, so clean and very family friendly. This hotel is very popular with Italian families and you are in the minority if you aren't Italian, but after all you are in Italy. The pool is amazing, very clean and big. There ISN'T constant entertainment as previously commented. There is entertainment for a couple of hours in the morning and the afternoon. You do have to wear swimming caps you can buy these there for 2.5euros from the lifeguards, I would recommend buying them there as they are lot comfier than our swimming caps. The Italians would go for a siesta from about 1-4pm, so the pool was very quiet as these times. There is a little train that runs every 20 mins or so to the beach, its only a short journey. We didn't go to the beach much as the kids preferred the pool, but it was lovely. There is a little bar on the beach and toilets. The food was lovely, fresh pizzas during the day and buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. They griddle fresh meat at lunch and dinner too. Not a massive selection, but what was on offer was lovely. You are assigned a table at the start of your holiday, which we thought was a fantastic idea so you were rushing down to get a table. Rooms- fantastic, very spacious and clean. we had a clothes horse outside which was perfect. I would highly recommend hiring a car, the hotel is only 20 minutes drive from Brindisi Airport. We visited Bari, Lecce, Monopoli, Brindisi and Alberbello which were all within an hour's drive from the hotel. It's very dissappointing reading some of the reviews having only given this lovely hotel 1 star because they wanted a relaxing break away with no children, surely thats not the hotels fault you haven't researched properly and why haven't you book adults only? Saying no one spoke English is not the case at ALL, the host Giarriamo (not sure about spelling) spoke multiple languages and a lot of the staff spoke a little English. If people bothered to learn basic sayings it would be a lot simpler for them. When staff spoke to my family in Italian we simply replied 'Non parla italiano' and they then replied 'English?'.....simple!"
"I recently visited this resort and overall it was very nice the food for an all Inclusive is mostly the Same everywhere.. breakfast was EXACTLY the same daily lunch and dinner varied. The pool was lovely Not heated bit the weather was extreme hot so not a problem. The staff overall were lovely as long as an effort was made with them Italian people don’t all speak English and English people don’t all speak Italian thank goodness for google translate! The wine beer and local spirits are included in the all inclusive and the lemoncillo which is extremely potent However there are some issues that people should be made aware of the closure to the pool if visiting at this late in the season is a MAJOR problem ! The transport to the beach isn’t provided there is no entertainment and the excursions are not available as it’s the end of the season! We were not made clear about this by LOV holidays and when contacted they were very unhelpful just kept quoting the terms and conditions they seemed very disinterested in trying to see if anything could be done? But due to the sheer pressure the manager very kindly kept the pool open for the paying guests and their children. Seeing pictures of the private beach I’m honestly not feeling I missed out to much anyway as it looked quick desolate. Overall anyone that’s visiting this resort should be aware that as it is very isolated they will need to hire a car to get about as the train station is about 15-20 minutes by car and the local town 20-25 minutes"
"Hire a car and exit the dual carriageway for Specchiola turn LEFT at the end of the exit road. The road bends then runs parallel to the main road. The resort is a little way down on the right. The staff were excellent. The rooms spotless. The restaurant is noisy because the Italians seem to travel in large groups and enjoy each others company. We were more jealous than bothered. The resort is massive and a lot of concrete softened by trees and gardens.. The local restaurants had closed for the season but we had no problem with food in the hotel. The only diet drink available was Coke Zero in the pool bar dispenser. Strangely no Lemonade. Breakfast is continental. Pizza by the pool in the afternoonr. The evening meal is a choice of two pastas, soup followed by a choice of 3 mainsand fruit or pastries. Specchiola, is seaside but drab. Most of the local beaches do have rocky areas and seaweed. The resorts beach is easily walkable and they lay on a 'train' from the back of the resort to the beach returning regularly. All inclusive gets you two beds and an umbrella on the beach and there is also an all inclusive bar. Get trains to Lecce or Bari. We booked on Trainline app and it was so cheap. Research the wonderful cities and towns before you go. Don't trust the SatNav - roads get closed on market days. Excursions are available, I think we would be bored without a car. Finally, the Italians have a set dance routine to everything, a bit like line dancing, so sit back and enjoy."

C.da Salinola SP 29 per San Michele Salentino, Ostuni, Apulia, Italy

"A 25 minute drive from Brindisi airport brings you just outside of Ostuni town into the countryside, through the locked gates into a secluded and quiet masseria. Our room was perfect with large bed, decent shower, mini bar and all other expectations met. The pool is a good size albeit too cold during our stay (mid October). The grounds are expansive and touches such as fires lit in the evening offer so much more than a bog standard hote1. We also dined in the evening and the food was delicious, with a four course set menu (alternatives were available), changed each day. In the covid scenario, the hotel has put in place all expected measures including sanitisers, enforcing face mask wearing, disposable gloves at breakfast and when dining, the same table dedicated to our room for the duration of our stay. The owners and other staff are very welcome and will go out of their way to assist with any need. I would definately return should I want to visit Puglia again."
"We stayed here late October 2019. Wow this place is amazing. We stayed in room 6 which was beautifully appointed with an underground cavern that we could look at through a glass panel in the floor in our room. The cavern had lovely ceramic pots and was a nice touch. Dual shower, well stocked mini bar at not crazy prices all made our room and stay very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant every night. The food, a set menu, is very authentic local and is amazingly presented and just so beautiful. Breakfast is highlighted by the freshly home baked array of cakes, mu gosh they are just divine. Masseria is centrally located to Ostini - 2.8 km away, and Lecce, Polognano, Monolpoli, Matera are all located very close by and with in easy reach for day trips. The family are wonderful hosts, the pool area is very relaxing and free WIFI is available in all areas of the property. Dont go to Ostuni without staying here."
"My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Masseria Salinola - a beautiful old masseria in which every tiny detail is taken care of by the wonderful host Daniele and his family. The entire compound is beautifully decorated and all aspects - rooms, pool area and dining area - are simply stunning. The food is amazing (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and served by an amazing staff. We can’t wait to return and thank Daniele and his staff for a wonderful stay. P.S.: In light of corona, all staff members wore masks at all times and paid a lot of attention to absolute cleanliness."

Località Pezze di Greco, c.da Bicocca, Pezze di Greco, Apulia, Italy

"Booked this magnificent Masseria Montenapoleone after seeing it on Gino D'Acampo's tour down the Adriatic Coast. We brought our sat nav from the UK and this was essential to enable us to safely negotiate away from Bari or Brindisi Airports and find the Masseria. On arrival you are met by very imposing gates which swing open to reveal a long driveway through Olive Trees down to the Masseria reception. The welcome here far exceeds expectations especially when the lovely Mariangela smiles at you for the first time. After checking in we were given a complete tour of the Masseria by her before being taken to our room Rifugio in it's own private garden not far from the restaurant and salt water swimming pool. With temperatures approaching 30 c at the beginning of September it takes a while to adjust and the airconditionng of our room was very welcome. As the temperatures drop to around 20 c overnight you can leave your windows open at night since they have mosquito screens attached permanently. Local produce is used to decorate the Masseria with huge Prickly Pear Cactus leaves with fruit attached are hanging on the walls and in the restaurant large bunches of a special red tomato are hanging from the beams. Some of the produce is available to buy in reception especially the Olive Oil in carefully packaged tins suitable for your suitcase. There is plenty of shade around the restaurant where you can have a glass of Prosecco before indulging in a new dish every night from the fantastic menu. The Coppacollo with Mascarpone and a Fig Syrup Dressing is wonderful as is the Orrechietti with Prawns and a Beetroot Cream. There is a barbecue almost every night and the steaks are magnificent. A different menu is available for a light lunch. Wines are excellent otherwise they wouldn't be on the list and you must try Prima Pazzi a Primitivo Red made at the Masseria. The staff are all wonderful especially Ilaria, Laurenza and Vicenzo and nothing is too much trouble. I am so sorry that I cannot remember all of their names. Even Pina the beautiful restaurant cat will come and keep you company while you eat and surprise surprise she loves a bit of fillet steak. Breakfast is a real treat and I am surprised that I only put on 5 pounds in 14 days in Italy. Visiting the surrounding area of Alberobello (trulli houses), Cisternino (barbecueing butchers) and Ostuni the white city is easy from here by car and the Masseria is a great location for a wedding. We loved being at Masseria Montenapoleone and we are grateful to Giuliano for welcoming us into his home and lavishing such generous hospitality upon us."
"We recently enjoyed four nights at Masseria Montenapoleone. Everything is very spread out in this most beautiful and rural of settings, surrounded by wonderful olive and almond trees. This place is a great centre for exploring the wider area on the coast as well as the lovely villages further inland. None are particularly far away. Although our satnav struggled to find the place, but our troubles were soon forgotten on arrival at the imposing gates and the great welcome and tour of the facilities which followed. Our rooms were peacefully situated, with outside private space for relaxation and comfortably arranged inside. Breakfast was a stone's throw away and offered an excellent choice of continental and cooked eggs either inside or outside. The restaurant, located near the spectacular pool, offered good choices at reasonable prices and very friendly service. We were persuaded to take the barbecued steaks, which, although quite expensive, were a revelation in excellent quality meet and heartily recommended at least once. Although we had planned to small other restaurants in the area, so good was the food here that we dined every night at the hotel."
"Lovely hotel with spacious rooms, all rooms are different with unique with eclectic look, my room have a small inner courtyard with a Tree swing and shower. Hotel is in the heart of a working farm of olive groves, almond trees along with grapes, they product there own wine (very tasty). Food is good, service attentive and team very helpful. Relax by the pool, wonder around the estate, leisurely lunch in the restaurant or a short drive from the coast or scenic villages... "

"Nice modern resort with a quiet location and interesting design. Rooms are very high standard although a little small and have no privacy with the bathroom all glass with a see through curtain..... Bathroom also floods. Rest of the hotel and pool area also high standard. We had to change plans last minute due to the BA strikes and staff were very helpful accommodating our date changes. Ostuni nearby and worth a visit but be aware the hotel will charge a high price for the taxi c.£60 for a 30 min round trip. Would stay again if in the area."
"I had a good time in Costa Merlata, only 10 away from Ostuni. The resort is new and finely decorated with a modern design. The resort is a swimming pool, spa & gymnasium, direct access to the beach. The reception team is really professional and they look after me during the stay. I have been impressed by the quality of the food during the dinner. The restaurant manager and his team is really knowledgeable and attentive. I would definitely come back! Highly recommended! "
"Overall the grounds of the hotel are beautifully landscaped, spacious, nice pool area, right by the sea, gardens for each room, a bright and airy restaurant and bar area, and a spacious spa. Our room however was very disappointing in size. Front door opens straight into the room, Approximately 30 cm around the bed and the walls, which means when you are lying in bed you can hear people walking along the path outside the front door. Absolutely no room to lay out suitcases, or even a stand. We had to put them on the floor and step over them to get in bed and to the bathroom. No full length mirror, no iron or ironing board in the whole hotel. Leaky shower which spread all over the floor and leaked into our suitcases. Hairs in the sheets and white stains on the top covers. I would not advise that you stay here if you want a spacious room and a relaxing stay. "

Via Appia 32,Torre Canne, Torre Canne, Apulia, Italy

"We stayed here for a week having booked it on recommendations on TA. We were not disappointed - from the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we were supremely looked after. The atmosphere was relaxed, the whole hotel was spotless, we had a standard double for 6 nights and a junior suite which was fabulous the last night.... we did have an a/c issue in our first room but it was attended to instantly and fixed Breakfast was buffet style with eggs personally prepared to your wishes, it was not the most extensive buffet, but it offered a good selection, the room was a little refectory like, but that’s only an observation really, it was not an issue. The gardens and pool area was well designed with shaded areas, plenty of assorted beds, and sitting areas... the staff were everywhere moving beds adjusting umbrellas, bringing food and drinks... it was a short walk to the bottom of the garden to the beach and sea. You had to walk along a few metres for a less rocky part. The pool was very large and Salted water, our only minor issue was the temperature of the pool was a shock for a couple of minutes! But you get used to it... on the last day it was definitely warmer, not sure if someone said it was too cold? We ate there in the evening twice which was fine, clearly more expensive than going out, but still not crazy prices, you eat in the same room as breakfast so ditto my comment on the style but the service was first class. The owners son who runs the hotel was most of the time there to help and enquire if everything was fine, he booked us a super restaurant in Ostuni and gave us some excellent tour tips... This very much deserves its 5 star status and the staff are plentiful and ALWAYS cheerful and helpful. We will 100% return it lives up to the billing given in the reviews. You do need access to transport I would suggest if you are there for several days, there is an excellent local restaurant (Dubonnet) a couple of minutes away in a car and I would strongly recommend going to eat in Ostuni one evening, it’s well worth the 20 minute drive and comes alive in the evening."
"This is a great place to relax and chill out! Our room was very comfortable, scrupulously clean and regularly-serviced. We had the benefit of being on the ground floor, with easy access to reception, the bar and terrace, the restaurant and pool. The real bonus was our own private jacuzzi. The food was excellent - we particularly enjoyed the Wednesday event with traditional foods, music and dancing. Something different from the usual, very tasty food, and great fun. The hotel is beautifully furnished, both in the indoor and outdoor areas, and is comfortable throughout. The very best feature of the hotel, surpassing all others, is the wonderful staff. They are professional, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and just plain lovely! Our friend Diggy adored them, and so did we,. Top marks, Canne Bianche! It's difficult to see how you could do better."
"We spent a lovely week at this beautiful hotel. The staff are very welcoming and the whole place is spotless and stylish. Our suite was one of the best we’ve experienced (the two bathrooms were a nice surprise!) and Anna was very helpful in arranging nice touches for our anniversary, including recommending a beautiful restaurant at a nearby Masseria. The food at the hotel is varied and tasty and we also enjoyed the local restaurant recommendations. Highly recommended! "

"Many of the reviews I read are unjust. Maybe because they were in busy season it was different. We had a fabulous time. Very covid secure . Welcoming reception at all times. Breakfast buffet well organised as per covid safety & plentiful and fresh. You can ask for extras to be cooked eg omelettes etc. The gym is small but clean. Pool was immaculate & very peaceful. Pool bar and lunch food there was plentiful and varied for our needs. It is in a quiet location which we wanted but could walk to a few other rocky inlets and beaches (to the left across from hotels stony beach) there are couple of snack bars/ beach bar and a 5* hotel we ate at one evening. The hotels stony beach is lovely for swimming & has plenty of sail shades , beds and comfy cushions for the beds. Showers and toilets. The hotels beach is a short walk to the right from the stony one. The hotel can drop you there , just ask at reception, also if you let them know you are going to the beach they take beds and umbrella and it is all set up for you ! Taxis are expensive, it is 20€ to either Ostuni or Santa Marina one way. But both worth a trip for a evening meal , stroll and cocktails. I would definitely return with my hubby next time and maybe get a car if we can hire one for a good price. "
"I too stayed at the hotel as part of an Inghams Tour but as this was not the hotel I had originally been told Inghams were using, I was very apprehensive after having read the previous negative reviews. My room in the main part of the hotel was a good size, with an excellent shower. The lighting in the bedroom was very dim but the bathroom was very well lit with a magnifying mirror incorporating a light. The television was a good size with a Sky box. A list of television channels would have been a helpful addition. The wifi in the bedroom was non existent, although the signal was strong around the reception area & on the small terrace outside. I would have expected a card with the wifi code to have been in the bedroom. The food was marginally better than I had expected, although at times, it was quite disappointing both in the choice of dishes & their presentation. On our last evening, the main course was a choice of either mackerel or a platter of mixed cheese. Much as I love cheese, I did not consider it to be an acceptable main course. On our first evening, when we arrived late, it was irritating the menu for our meal was written in German. They were aware we were on the Inghams’ tour & were not part of a German one. The drinks were expensive & the only snack available for lunch on our last day was an unappetizing looking cheese & ham sandwich. Again the presentation & quality was awful & I am glad I saw the standard before I ordered one. The hotel is very isolated & without a car I would not recommend it or consider staying there again."
"Went on Inghams "Best of Puglia Tour". The Room was good and no real complaints other than the floor could have been cleaned more regularly. With a small outside secluded patio area and at ground level it is easy to walk dust and dirt into the bedroom. The hedging surrounding the patio needed to be trimmed as we ended up fighting though over-hanging thorns and other branches to get to the seating. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would help in the morning and when returning from trips. Hotel Catering & Bar Very Poor and had to complain to the manager about the quality of the evening food and the positioning of the tables. The service was not good either, not helped by the positioning of the tables. The group had three tables, the chairs for 8 of the group were up against a back wall which meant the waiters could not serve from behind ( they had to pass and take away plates across the table!!). The food was tasteless and sometimes inedible. I could not understand why we were on a different menu to the rest of the restaurant; surely the cost difference was a small price to pay to protect the Inghams name. The lighting was also poor and when eating fish with bones, not ideal. Some flood lighting was installed after the complaint. We all sat down at 7:30, but didn’t finish until around 10:00. The rest of the restaurant were in and out in 90 minutes. The group were treated like second class citizens. One evening 8 of us took taxis to Ostuni (5 miles away) and had a good meal and wine, with a great atmosphere for 25 euros each. Not sure why the hotel could not have provided the same. The swimming pool bar also closed on a whim; I was chasing around to order a mid-day sandwich. The bar also ran of certain soft drinks (Sprite, Fanta etc.) and this on the first night and was not corrected throughout our stay which I’m told was down to a lack of ordering. Good food is part of the holiday; the lack of it sends the wrong message. The hotel was isolated and walking to other places was not possible, something that is pleasing and part of the holiday evenings. Definitely not a 4* hotel, but could be with better food and service."

"This is an understated “B&B” which is in fact a boutique hotel set in the quiet countryside outside Ostuni. It is beautifully appointed both inside the room, the restaurant and outside in the garden and pool areas. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating to our needs as a family, very relaxed but also warm and helpful. The food was exceptionally good both at lunch and breakfast, served in the amazing terrace overlooking Ostuni and the coast in the distance. Thank you to the staff for making it such a fantastic stay in your beautiful boutique hotel "
"My husband and I liked the convenience of a restaurant on the premises particularly when travelling with our 4 month old baby. We enjoyed the variety of breakfast options including cooked eggs and antipasti. Our room was nicely decorated and the shower was modern with good water pressure. The staff were friendly and helpful. One point to note was that the room we stayed in for the first night was a little small and the walls were very thin so you could clearly hear discussions in the room next to us. Thankfully, we were offered a free upgrade the following day which made our stay much more comfortable."
"Far away and on the same time close to every thing, cosy room, very clean, staffs disponible, friendly, reactives, Maria thank you again for the right at the restaurant. Various breakfast, good coffee machine, the garden is large enough so you have your quietness. I will come back again if I’m around."

"we had a lovely time staying here for a week in August. We travelled with wife, 6 year old son and mother in law. The hotel is the perfect location to explore Puglia, close to Ostuni (which is beautiful) and about 40 minutes drive from Brindisi airport. The hotel itself is lovely. Despite us not arriving until 1.30am due to the flight being delayed the owner was very welcoming and courteous when we arrived and generally the staff are brilliant, very helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome despite being the only English people in the hotel :-) We went for a comfort room which was quite large with a balcony, kept very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The pool is a decent size and very refreshing as the tempratures whilst we were there were very hot. You can also get drinks brought out to the pool which was most welcome. The best thing about this hotel though is the food. We were B&B but after eating in the hotel the first night we only missed one other night which was due to a long trip out. The food is well priced and outstanding. A choice of 2 or 3 course plus desert, traditional Italian food of antipasi, pasta course then meat of fish, followed by desert, set menu every night which was always excellent and very nice local wines. All in all a great hotel which ticks every box for us, highly recomend to anyone who wants a proper Italian holiday experience."
