"The hotel is located 20 meters from where the ferry leaves you from Townsville, so it is not necessary to have the car on the island, although if you bring it to the door of the hotel there is free parking for up to 3 days. The hotel is composed of several blocks, some with simple rooms, others with more or less large apartments. It has a giant pool. The access to the room is by stairs, there is the option of using an elevator, but it can catch you away and not avoid all the stairs, as in our case. Reception staff and lovely bar / restaurant employees. "
"I’ve been to Peppers a few times now and am never disappointed! Located right next to the ferry terminal and only a short drive away from some of my favourite spots on the island. "
"Amazing location and facilities. Just a reminder , don't go in off season, most of the places where shut."

"On arrival we were given vouchers to have a free welcome cocktail which was a nice touch. The view was amazing as it’s right in the beach and you could see the sunset and sunrise which was beautiful. The hostel was a short bus ride away from everything which made it easy to see the island. The bedrooms were small and cramped and the beds didn’t feel very sturdy when climbing up to the top bunk. They were quite small beds but comfy. All the plug sockets were in one place which was annoying as you couldn’t charge your phone while in bed. The aircon didn’t seem to work very well which isn’t very good when sharing a small room with 6 people! The showers and toilets were separate from the rooms and were very basic. They didn’t seem very clean but done the job. The kitchen was vile. There was never any clean equipment and for some reason there was a lack of forks, there was only one or two every around. The sinks were grim which obviously isn’t the hostels fault it’s the other backpackers staying there. There was never any clean sponges or tea towels to clean up with. It just made it not very nice to make your food as it felt unclean and unsanitary! Staff did clean the kitchen daily but it just managed to get messy so easily as no individuals ever cleaned up after themselves!! The hostel had activities on every evening which was great and fun! The music was all off by midnight which was good for people who were having to get up early to go on tours and excursions. If I was to stay here again I probably would splash out on getting a private room as I feel it would be more clean and easier to deal with. But the kitchen needs a serious think about by staff. "
"Pros: The location was lovely right on the beach, there was a nice atmosphere, busy bar with activities/ entertainment each night. Offered food and drinks as well as car hire (although the car hire was much more expensive than other companies). Cons: The room was awful, it was 8 beds dark, gloomy and tiny so no space for anyone. The room, bathrooms and kitchen were very dirty not clean at all. All together the cleanliness was not good. The food wasn’t great and the and unfortunately the bar staff were quite sarcastic and rude. Location: Location was great, such an amazing view and great common area and pool, 20 minute walk to a food shop, bottle shop and post office. Staff/service: The reception staff were lovely and helpful, however the bar staff were rude and sarcastic. Would I stay again?: I would maybe stay again for the location, but definitely in a different room most likely a private room."
"Fantastic rec area, with outstanding views of the ocean. Our room had first class views, at half the price. The only downside was blood that was left on the toilet seat. Backpackers clean the rooms for cheap/free accommodation, but there still has to be a certain standard. Our room had a fridge, kettle, tea and coffee, although no spoons. There is a camp kitchen, so can do a little bit of food shopping and keep in your own fridge Bed was a bit small for two, but it faced the door so we could have pur ocean views. This room also had a private balcony. I'd definitely recommend for the price. "

51 Palmer Street, South Townsville, Queensland, Australia
"Stayed 2 nights for business, room was totally adequate, clean, comfy bed, everything you need - although decor is of a dated style, but that doesn't worry me. Hotel has reasonable rates, but will say you get what you pay for, is more like apartment accom rather than a hotel. Restaurant leaves a lot to be desired, it is separate to the hotel and doesn't have a breakfast buffet. Had breakfast in restaurant the first morning, several tables were still unclean from the night prior, there was a cat wandering around in the restaurant, ordered bircher museli and got untoasted museli with a bit of yogurt on top - not the best experience. Found a cafe called Grandmas for breaky on day 2 and it was awesome."
"We had a 1 BR apartment, overlooking the river. Large, well appointed, close to CBD. Walking tracks nearby. Secure parking. Very quiet area. Walk to a choice of pubs and restaurants. We have already booked our return visit!"
"The room was great and with plenty of space. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food from Table 51 next door that can be charged to your room is amazing! Places like this are really struggling because of COVID 19 crisis. Lets make sure we support them when the crisis is over. I will definitely go back here again,"

63-64 The Strand, North Ward, North Ward, Queensland, Australia
"This is a great family type hotel to stay, right on the strand. The position could not be better, as there is a constant sea breeze and lots of excellent beaches to swim at, just across the road. The rooms are spacious, serviced every day, and all self-contained with a balcony and tables and chairs to enjoy the breeze while looking out over the water to Magnetic Island. The hotel itself is close to lots of restaurants, cafes and bars, all within easy walking distance. A taxi rank is also just up the road near the shops. The staff was always very friendly and could not have been more helpful. I will certainly be back to stay when next in Townsville."
"After staying in many places in Townsville over the years, we have never returned more than a couple of times after being put off by something: e.g., inconvenient location, not clean, poor parking availability, noise, unhelpful management etc. Stayed at Waters Edge twice in October 2019, and it really does tick all the boxes, as well has being very reasonably priced. Spacious bright room with no 'off' odours, very pleasant and helpful management, ideal location with secure parking, pool and deck, close to beach and restaurants and shops. Our room looked out over Castle Hill and the water on the Strand. We will definitely be back."
"We have just returned from a 10 day trip to Townsville where we stayed at Waters Edge Apartments. These apartments are fantastic! Located on the Strand, close to all amenities and managed by a delightful couple, Jen and Geoff, who couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The room was spacious, well appointed and extremely comfortable. If you're looking for a great place to stay in Townsville, you can't go past Waters Edge The Strand."
