Starnberger Straße 2, Andechs, Bavaria, Germany
"We arrived in Munich and immediately drove south to this lovely hotel, which was less than an hour. It is a ten minute walk to Andechs monastery, and a great tiny town to begin a tour of the Alps. First, they couldn’t be nicer. Not speaking much English, the hotel cleaning staff quickly put our room together early so our two babies could rest. The room was very, very spacious, clean, and charming. The hotel itself is very spacious, with large corridors and a large garden with fun swings. They even have a vending machine with beer in it so after the babies go to bed you can sit on the patio with other guests and drink Andechs beer. However, the best part was by far the breakfast. There was a huge spread of cakes, and I mean fluffy, chocolate-mousse type cakes, fresh bread, and the sweetest most amazing raspberries I’ve ever eaten. After my cake and berries, fraulein brought scrambled eggs to the table. If there was one challenge, it was that everything closes in the town by 6 pm so we didn’t have dinner. Plan ahead for that all over southern Germany. It happened more than once! "
"This hotel has a great location for s romantic trip. The nearby ancient monastery has a great bar with great views and a romantic restaurant too. Loads of choices and loads of fun. There is a well placed bus stop next to the church opposite the hotel that takes you easily and cheaply to nice towns by beautiful lakes. Strongly recommend! As a gay couple we found the staff welcoming and didn’t bat an eyelid, made us feel as welcome as all their other guests. Oh, do have the breakfast. It’s amazing and the woman who’s works that shift is glorious. "
"We just stayed at Zur Post for the third time - whenever traveling through this area. Walking distance to the Andechs monastery. Friendly family owned. Best breakfast - homemade sausages. Wonderful places to sit outside and visit. Would highly recommend. German only website to book - quite manageable to do so in English. "
