"So this is somehow a peculiar review as I am now reviewing a Hotel I was not actually able to set foot in. Yep, that's right. Yet, what happened still deserved an early review, which will be complemented after I will finally have had the chance to visit this hotel. And this early review can only be fair with an "excellent" rating tag. Due to this bloody global pandemic, our trip to the Bahia Kempinski, which was supposed to take place during the Easter break, was obviously cancelled. Yet I wish to say that the hotel staff and management has been SO professionnal in the way they dealt with the cancellation, everything was perfect. Reaction time, flexibility, kindess. Same can be said over the booknig process, which was just flawless, quite a few months ago and before all of the current mess. This is also why you chose prestigious hotels in the first place, yet it does not happen every day, and by that I mean not every decade, that you have to cancel your trip due to a pandemic. The way they dealt with the mess Covid 19 had created was, in my case, very impressive and very much on par with what you expect of such a brand. We will do everything we can to ensure we will finally be able to visit the hotel as soon as possible, and I have to say the hotel looks amazing. We were very much looking forward getting to know this beautiful place. Given the extended contacts we now had with the hotel, and the way they dealt with our cancelled vacations, we just can't wait to actually be there."
"I think the price of the hotel was obscene bearing in mind that it was really dated - if I knew that the decor of the room would look straight out of the 70/80's I'd avoid it like a plague. I also wasn't made aware at the time of the booking that it is right next to a busy motorway so you can hear the noise of passing cars at all times in your room. The AC didn't work - I was told that this is a seasonal thing and and was offered a fan which was never delivered. I really don't care about the reason - if I pay 200E per night and I feel hot in my room, I want to have a working AC, one would think this is a given in a five star hotel. Opening a window was not an option due to the already mentioned motorway - quite a Catch-22 situation. The sheets didn't feel at all luxurious, just your average run of the mill cotton sheets that would suit well in a three star 50E per night place, and not a supposedly luxurious hotel. They also don't have a true king size bed, only two single beds bunched up together - really uncomfortable during the night as they don't keep well together during the night. The shower was leaking and you could hear the tapping water sounds during the whole night from the plumbing. My feeling is that the hotel is simply falling apart due to its age. I complained after the first night because I couldn't sleep a wink in a boiling hot room next to the motorway and was moved to another - it has somewhat helped with the motorway noise, but it was as shabby and dated as the previous one - no AC either. One night I went down with friends to have a drink and some nibbles in the Baltazar restaurant - we were told we could not order anything a la carte since it was a flamenco evening and they only offered a set menu. This is fine I guess (although disappointing in a 5* hotel) but we weren't even brought olives or nuts to accompany our bottle of wine which you get at any bar in Spain for free - this felt petty and cheap. The owners have definitely been skimping on the refurbishment costs and should just close the property down and refurbish it entirely or tear it down. On the plus side the staff was very nice and tried their best bearing the circumstances, and the breakfast was quite enjoyable with a generous spread - hence two stars instead of one. I'm quite amazed by all of the five and four star reviews here - I must assume that the reviewers have never stayed in a nice hotel room before. Overall I thought it was a very poor value choice and has successfully made me forgo Kempinski properties in the future. I was very happy to check out the next day knowing I'll never have to go back."
"It is a resort hotel and the comfort goes with that... it is not Luxurious but very comfy. Hotel has a few large beautiful outside pools surrounded by a beautiful gardens, we were in December and one of the pool was heated and it was very enjoyable!.. rooms are large and most of them with a balcony, seaview can be tricky though as not direct for some like us.. staff is overall excellent everywhere, polite, well mannered and attentive to needs. excellent bellman service too. Breakfast is plenty for choice and quality.. one of the Kempinski touch. rsetaurant la Cucina (tapas) is incredibly good.. better tapas of my life... but most expensive too... too much in fact. Bars could use to have a larger choice of drinks but I am picky for rums... Small disappointment, the indoor pool was not very clean (water and surrounding) also small children have access all day.. again resort style."
