"Ideal for families with children; there are numerous children's activities. The kids club is small but has general facilities and functions; it is not open all day, two or three hours in the morning or two or three hours in the afternoon. The new children's pool is great, not big but it is hard for families with baby. After all, there is a large pool next to it."
"Although the hotel is a bit old, the hardware, sanitation and environment are pretty good. But the service is really helpless, especially the managers in charge of various departments. Basically will never go again. I also have a new understanding of the four seasons."
"There are many activities in the hotel. But be sure to make an appointment in advance! Especially riding!"

"We visited for an early Mother’s Day lunch using a Travelzoo voucher. My mum (exc cookery teacher) can be particular about her food and unfortunately is now on a restricted diet but she enjoyed every minute. Superb cooking , friendly efficient service, great location . We went on a Travelzoo voucher which I have to say was exceptional value for 3 courses including glass of Prosecco and coffee. Not sure how much all this would have cost without voucher but I would have paid a lot more for this standard . I admit I was a bit dubious as I have had a few hits and a few misses with the macdonalds chain but we were impressed. Thank you for a lovely lunch. This review is written two weeks after our visit and the world is a very different place with a COVID 19 . Very best wishes to you all in these difficult times and we will do our best to get back soon . "
"On the banks of the River Thames it’s a perfect setting for a weekend break and we received some exceptional service. Big love to the wonderfully attentive concierge Chris. He gave us the warmest welcome and went out of his way to make sure we had the best room available, upgrading us to a large suite overlooking the weir and top it off because we were so grateful he brought us complimentary We were further spoilt by delicious food in their Riverside restaurant. We were served by Ovo, our attentive waiter who is an impressive classical pianist, and surprised the entire restaurant with the most beautiful music and finished the evening wonderfully. Thank you so much to the staff for exceeding our expectations. "
"We knew we were in for a treat to enjoy afternoon tea in the Riverside restaurant. The food was delicious and a wide range of teas available, with beautiful views over the Marlow weir. The highlight of the afternoon, however, was having Happy Birthday sung by our entertaining and helpful waiter Ovo who happened to be an opera singer and pianist as well! We shall definitely be returning! Thank you."

"This was my Christmas present so having abandoned our two teenagers we were very excited to get away. Check in was good - efficient- really pleased that our room was upgraded but we are in the middle of a pandemic. My only gripe was that they wanted to charge £50 to my husbands card - “just in case”. Not used to this approach. Now this place sells itself as a cut above so they set This was my Christmas present! This place markets itself as being a cut above the rest so they set the bar high. On arrival my husbands credit card was charged £50 “ just in case” - bit odd. Our room was lovely apart from the fact that there was only a foot between the end corner of the wooden bed and the dressing table. I bashed my shins repeatedly trying to squeeze past. As you would expect it’s spotlessly clean and the bed had crisp white sheets. The decor is lovely. There is a complimentary mini bar but it did look as if someone had been there before us as we were unable to both have the same drink (only one appletise, one sparkling water etc) We stayed for dinner which was pricey at £28 for a main. It was fine but nothing was very hot. We also felt pressured into buying a bottle of water as soon as we sat down. We had wine so would have been quite happy with tap water. Slept well- it’s quiet and luxurious. Breakfast was grim. Service was awful and I eventually had to go to the bar to order an orange juice. We were not offered any toast or anything else. Waited over half an hour for bubble and squeak which was literally swimming in grease and had greasy back bacon instead of streaky (they didn’t seem to think that the fact that this was different from the menu was an issue) They did offer to get me another breakfast but by this time we had been there ages- we were both starving and wanted to eat and get in with our day. I declined but wondered why there was no top up of my one cup of coffee, no toast, no croissant - BREAKFAST IS £30! The staff did say they would not have charged us for breakfast but couldn’t do this as we had booked with secret escapes. We were offered afternoon tea but had to get home to Kent. I couldn’t understand why the fact that we had booked bed and breakfast through secret escapes meant that we could not be offered anything back for the missed breakfast? We left to have a coffee in the lounge only to find that there was a business meeting in there which the staff did not know about. There was a group with laptops that had taken over the whole room and challenged us when we tried to get in. In essence - it was lovely to get away and I felt so sorry for my husband as he had tried so hard. It just wasn’t worth the money - staff were lovely and it has soo much potential."
"THE MOST calming and soothing massages I’ve ever had the pleasure of receiving. Sophie is a beautiful soul, has amazing spirit, AND she’s sooooooo good at what she does. In times like now she manages to settle my anxiety, keep me centred, lifts my mood and rid all the tension I carry around in my body. She really is amazing in every sense. The massages themselves are given on a wide narrow boat docked beside the hotel. It’s such a stunning setting. I literally never want to leave and I would pay double the price any day."
"Visited with a friend to have Brunch in the Brasserie, great view, relaxed environment. I ordered a Chicken pie and when it arrived it was cold in the middle! I sent it back and then when they didn't have a replacement I ordered the Fish & Chips. It was excellent and very tasty. The staff were lovely and they offered us complimentry drinks as an apology for the pie. I would recommend this place and I didn't thoroughly enjoy my visit."

"Visited the Great House at Sonning for two night stay. Very impressed with standard of accommodation lovely room could not fault anything. Excellent value for money. We took our dog with us and room had direct access to outside communal patio area and grounds which was good. Our only negative is the food in the Coppa Club, menu never changes and quality is not that good. We visit the coppa club a lot in the summer as we have a boat and it is a lovely stopover in a beautiful setting. The staff are always excellent very welcoming and we love the ambience of the place. A few more specials on the menu would give a more varied choice. "
"Stayed in Sonning for a wedding, the surprise bonus was staying at this hotel. Quaint accommodations right on the river made for a lovely setting. Luxurious bedding and bath (kudos to the person that voted for towel warmers in the loo!) made it great, but the bar/restaurant was a great amenity! We had 3 visits there and was a cool setting/hip vibe and great place to relax and enjoy each other's company! Highly recommend!!"
"We wanted a Covid getaway. This was definitely the place. Highly professional on handling the restrictions. So much so it didn't affect our stay in the least. Location is superb. The interiors are very relaxing and to high quality. More than ample parking if you avoid main parking at reception. River walks superb even in the rain."

"Could of been worse , could of been better ... I one of these online offers that included dinner breakfast with 1 night stay . The French guy on check in was lovely so helpful and a credit to the management team of this Hotel. Shame it couldn’t be said about everyone ... even though I asked twice before ordering dinner “ what is included in our package “ which I was told 3 courses .. turns out at check in it was only 2 , and I had to pay for the rest , this is so had to up sell to a customer that said multiple time’s I don’t want to pay any extras !!! Room was a nice size clean and tidy , modern ! Over looking a car park ... one thing to improve seen as it’s a spa hotel maybe provide some slippers to put on your feet . As so many guests were wearing dirty trainers to the spa walking round the pool area ( not a good look) Spa : was to busy , no covid measures in place apart from you sign your name in , no staff cleaning beds after people have used them .. and no cleaning stations for customers to do it either !! !!! Breakfast was the best though and all staff friendly , brilliant selection Probably wouldn’t return again , which is a shame as Marlow is beautiful "
"I have stayed here on business for a few times now and I have to say I cannot fault it. After staying elsewhere for slightly more money the Plaza is worth every penny. The new rooms are spacious and comfortable and very clean. The facilities are lovely with a gym which I have used, a pool which I haven’t used, along with a bar and dining room. The staff are very helpful and friendly and there is plenty of parking. Breakfast is plentiful and fresh and relaxing. I have left every time feeling fully refreshed and relaxed. I shall continue to use the Plaza in any future trips to the area. Well done to the staff and thank you for making every trip so enjoyable. "
"My parents have been living at the hotel for over 3 months as their home was flooded. The hotel could not have been any more helpful (my Dad is disabled so needed extra help). All the staff, without exception, went above and beyond to make them feel comfortable. Special shout out to Michele in the events team and Karim at the front desk, although all the staff, including waiters, cleaners and maintenance staff were amazing. I would definitely recommend the hotel for exceptional service. I've also held a small conference at the hotel after the first lockdown and it went very smoothly and felt very safe. I can't thank the hotel enough."

"We stayed at the Chequers on the very last night before all the pubs had to close down for COVID-19. We had booked the Hand and Flowers for my boyfriend’s birthday six months ago and as we got to the ‘Marlow’ sign Boris announced they were shutting all the pubs and restaurants etc. The staff at the Chequers were fantastic and very accommodating despite the sad situation. They even rustled up a picnic breakfast for us as the kitchen was shut. The rooms are very stylish and comfortable. We will be back to stay and will have dinner there next time as the menu looked delicious. We wish you all the best in the coming months and hope we can come back before the end of the year. Thank you for your hospitality. Nicky and James "
"As I suspect many/most people do we stayed at the Chequers when we visited the Hand & Flowers for a celebratory meal. Our room was just upstairs from the pub/restaurant and is one of the sweetest rooms I've ever stayed in. The room had endless charm from a bygone time with multiple levels, low ceilings (with beams that were lovingly bump-proofed!) and old sash windows. That being said the room also had all the modern conveniences, an amazing rainfall shower and a comfy bed. If you can't already tell I just loved this room! The only issue - which is inevitable from the room being in a pub - is that there isn't much buffer from the noise downstairs and this does go on for quite a while, especially given that there are often live acts performing. This wasn't too problematic for us but if you're not totally knackered or a light sleeper I could see this being a major drawback."
"Had a meeting in Marlow, rather than driving back home that nighyt, stayed at the The Chequers. Glad I did, great food, good beer, wounderful staff and lovely bed. Will be back again. Car parking a bit of an issues unless you know where to look, but it always is in Marlow"

"Stayed at the wonderful Sanctum on the Green for 3 nights - first impressions as we drove up - totally gorgeous English countryside with just the right splash of glamour! It really is a retreat from it all - the rooms are comfortable and the power shower is unreal. The food was top notch and the staff especially JP couldn’t do enough for us. The surrounding gardens are stunning and of the weather had been kinder we would’ve taken a dip in the outdoor heated pool and made us of the swish loungers - gorgeous walks , a plethora of fantastic pubs and restaurants all at a stones throw. Perfect little getaway. We will be back! "
"Stayed for 1 night . Initial room problem was solved quickly and efficiently by the owner. Room was pleasant , quiet and well equiped. Mattress is very comfortable. The bar has a great selection for wine and spirits with a knowledge barman. Food I have to say was excellent and well priced. What made our stay really memorable was the other guests and the safe distance banter that went on throughout the evening a real mix of characters . Would definitely recommend and stay again in the future. "
"We stayed in the Berkshire suite for our anniversary and cannot rate it highly enough. The room was spacious and comfortable with the added bonus of the large bath tub. The hotel grounds were stunning and relaxing. The staff were very attentive and friendly. A huge thank you to Rob (for the amazing cocktails and service) and JP for his hospitality. We could not fault any part of it and will definitely be back again. Thanks again guys Ritchie and Maria"

"My husband and I stayed for 1 night at the Aviator hotel as a birthday treat for him booked by family. We had a standard airside room and upgraded to a suite for £100 for the night. It was pretty reasonable as upgrade prices went up by £25 per upgrade so there was a lot of option. The room itself was lovely, very clean with great amenities. One small issue was that we had Prosecco/beer delivered to our room along with a happy birthday plate with truffles on...by a concierge who clearly had a cold and his nose was dripping! We did not eat the truffles ! We had dinner included in our package, with a set 3 course menu giving 4-5 options per course. Food itself was absolutely delicious and got better with each course. Starter: husband had the sweetcorn soup which was lovely but got cold quickly due to it being presented on a massive bowl. I had smoked trout with pickled ketchup and rye bread. Good but very small portions in terms of the beetroot and pickled ketchup compared with the trout so each bite wasn’t quite equal. Mains: husband had butternut squash ravioli and said was really delicious and moreish, no complaints at all. I had the rump steak (£7 supplement) cooked perfectly to medium rare, seasoned so well with the best chips I’ve EVER had. One small comment was that when the waitress was clearly up selling sides, and we said no thank you to any extra vegetables, her reply was “oh not feeling healthy today then”....wasn’t too impressed with that comment! Dessert wise we both had the Irish coffee revolution (I think name wise) which a baileys dessert which was a set mousse, chocolate etc and was so delicious. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel, a really enjoyable stay and if you like planes you will love it! Stay airside and you see private jets landing and taking off it’s great! "
"Visited Sunday 1st having made a booking 3 weeks ago. Glad I did given the imminent lockdown. Enjoyed an amazing roast, we had pork (on the bone amazing!) and beef cooked to perfection and the gravy was simply delicious. All expertly served by Amber who was able to recommend the starters we chose after we were deliberating...She literally couldn't have done more to enhance our visit. Thank you Amber. We felt completely safe at the Aviator. Everyone was wearing masks etc. Although I do feel for the staff having to work under these restrictions. Plenty of sanitizer available and the whole hotel looked spotless so a shout out to the cleaners! After lunch we enjoyed cocktails in the Skybar. Again social distancing was evident, loved the Pandas everywhere and we felt very safe. George helped us choose cocktails and he knew the menu completely. Very helpful. I even saw the card machines being sanitized in both the restaurant and bar! Will definitely return again."
"I stayed at the Aviator this week. A great hotel with a large clean room. Staff are attentiv, however, I must make a special mention to Sylvia and Megan who where both on the check in desk when I arrived. In my opinion they went over and above normal service levels to resolve my situation, even making me made me a cup of tea whilst working on what was going on with my reservation. These two members of staff are both a credit and an assett to your company."
