Calle Elorriaga, 15, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Country, Spain
"Our last stop-over on our way back to Portugal has been in Vitoria-Gasteiz, and this into the “Hotel Palacio de Elorriaga”. It is a building who has been reconstructed in his more or less original state. The staff is friendly, the place is fine, and the rooms are clean, but very dark due to the small window. The massage shower cabin is not working as it should, there is only one chair and on top of the bill we have a poor insolation, we had during our stay allot of disturbing noise of our neighbours next door and above us, loud speaking, loud with the door, moving chairs, and walking around even during the night, so we did not had a peaceful night of sleep after a long day on the road, this is also due to the education of the people who are staying in the hotel. There is also a restaurant, but by checking the menu list it seems to be on the expensive side. The Private car-park is ok. Than in the morning we had also booked our breakfast, this is served in a nice location of the hotel and in “Buffet form”. But there is a severe problem, and this is that all the products like butter, ham, cheese, fresh orange juice, all the products who need to stay “cool” are not presented on a refrigerated plate or item, there is no air-conditioning in the breakfast location, which means that all the fresh products are in a warm location on the buffet by 07h00 and are staying there until 10h00, this is not as it should be and surely not for a *** stars hotel. We had a Licenced B&B in Portugal and we had to keep every fresh product on the buffet cool. And there is one person of the staff who is doing the night shift, who has to take care of the bar, the breakfast Buffet and the reception in the morning!!! For us this is a place of no return, nice building but in need of a more severe and correct organization."
"Stopped off completely random as was travelling for 5-6 hours from Portugal and long drive ahead back to England. Family run place , beautiful and very friendly especially Portuguese lady who spoke very good english and was extremely helpful. Bar area was fantastic and food ( which we had steak and potatoes)was also a very high standard. Lucky to have found such a beautiful hotel and enjoyed our stay :) "
"Lovely comfortable room... Shower took some working out.. bit out of town..25 minutes walk to centre but easy flat walk..believe bus was 2 euros. Although sorted when asked I would have liked to have seen vegetarian choices on dinner menu. Good breakfast for £6. But the best part was ana on reception.. she did everything from reception, bar, restaurant, tour helper.. she really is an asset to the hotel."
