"We have just returned from a stay in a cottage straight across from this Hotel. I asked the owner of the cottage for a restaurant recommendation for a nice meal for my husband's 60th birthday. Straight away she said this one, but we would need to book as it gets very busy. We arrived on Saturday and looking at the Hotel from across the water it didn't look anything special so we called for a drink to take a look. Inside is beautifully decorated and well laid out, it's a credit to the owners. You cannot beat the location, directly on the river. We had no hesitation on booking a table for Tuesday evening. I really wish now that we had eaten there every night, but we just called for a drink. Our meal was delicious, they bring a beautiful bread roll complimentary which the chef has made that day. The seafood starter was amazing, garlic bread and hummus with a hint of Cumin was also delicious. Our main of surf and turf, a special on the night, was very good, steak cooked to perfection. The portions are not small and we couldn't finish it but had a good try. It was that good that we ate there on Wednesday as well, the fish pie is to die for, piping hot with king prawns, mussels, etc, and a creamy mash. I can honestly say I have never had a fish pie as nice. My husband had the fish & chips, that was also delicious. I have put a pic on. The staff are lovely and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I would say it's the best place to eat in Wroxham and you can sit and watch the world go by. Places with good quality home cooked food are few and far between. Can't wait until we return in September. "
"I am staying at the Wroxham hotel every Tuesday & Wednesday night for the next 7 weeks for work. When I first arrived, the staff member on reception was very friendly, told me where to park, and checked me in - he was very helpful and asked about dining preferences, I booked in to eat later that evening. My room was very very clean, decorated lovely, had really nice touches including some biscuits and hot chocolates in the tea & coffee pack. It had all amenities you could need in the bathroom plus a hairdryer (which I had actually forgotten so was thankful for). The room was beautiful, clean and spacious. I went for dinner at 6:30, the waiters were helpful and made sure to keep coming back to see if I needed anything. I ordered the Wroxham burger & a Diet Coke. The Burger was out of this world, it came with fries, coleslaw and onion rings, presented beautiful and tasted amazing - I just wish it was slightly smaller as I felt awful leaving some food. The owner - Wendy, is so friendly and very helpful. As I am staying for 7 weeks for work over lockdown, she went through food preferences with me for breakfast and told me about the take outs for dinner. She even accommodated making me a sandwich for next days lunch!! I was overwhelmed by the kindness and helpfulness. I am only on week 1 of 7, and so far I couldn’t fault the hotel at all. Very friendly & helpful staff, beautiful rooms and tasty food. Would recommend everyone I know to stay here."
"I drove over the bridge and got my first view and thought oh dear what have I done here. Once you walk in though mu god did I change my mind, lovely reception area leading to a great bar and restaurant. The staff are exceptional really friendly and can’t do enough for you. We where shown to our room which was lovely, well decorated and modern and the view was fantastic. We popped to the bar had a few drinks and went for a walk around. Booked a table for 7 in the restaurant it was a busy night but service still great. The food was lovely, few more drinks by the log fire then bed. The quietest and best sleep I’ve had in years in a really comfortable bed. I git up nice and early and had a cuppa on the balcony, great to watch all the local fishermen pulling out pike the size of small crocodiles out of the water, The breakfast was beautiful and again the service superb. My understanding this is a work in progress and once the outside has been spruced up it will be outstanding. Absolute gem of a find"
