Reviews From Real Travelers
I returned to the Leonardo Royal Southampton a year after my last stay to visit the nearby boat show. Check in time is quite late at 16:00 but I checked in online and received an email at 15:15 to say my room was ready. Lovely executive room with a balcony overlooking Southampton. Nice touches like a handwritten welcome note with chocolates on the bed and a Nespresso machine in addition to the kettle and tea/coffee facilities. Very comfortable bed and a very quiet room despite the hotel being full. Prompt, attentive service from the bar and they went above and beyond by fetching Worcestershire sauce to add to my guests tomato juice! I was delighted to see that the bar area has been decorated and the hotel generally was looking more loved with signs of investment. The pool and spa area has also been decorated and was generally looking smarter. It is great that the pool is open from 06:30 to allow a swim before breakfast. The breakfast buffet in Leo's was excellent with a good range of food available. Plenty of freshly cooked hot items available for the full English with smiling, friendly staff toping items up as required. Congratulations to the management for all your efforts in these difficult times for the hospitality industry, these are certainly paying off. I hope that those who have had a less positive experience than me will give you another try. I will certainly be back.

Do NOT book book here unless you want loud music till gone midnight!! I would give it less stars if there was an option to It was absolutely awful! I booked a night away and was absolutely disappointed. We were put in room 104, we wanted a quiet night in and all we could hear was loud music. I went down about 8:30pm to reception and spoke to a women, she did not seem to care what i was saying and just told me there was a wedding on and the music would stop at midnight. This is not acceptable due to the fact I wanted a quiet night in and like to be in bed and asleep by 9pm. I then asked to talk to the manager. She was very rude and really horrible! I couldn’t believe how she spoke to me. The most she could offer me was £30 which I do not feel was acceptable as the music kept me up till gone midnight. I paid £159.10 for my stay and could not sleep! I asked to swap rooms which they said they couldn’t do and then I asked if we could be put in the sister hotel which they said they couldn’t as I would have to pay if full price for it. I would have gone home if I could but live far away I went back to the room as was not getting anywhere and again at approx 11pm I went back down to reception as the music had got even louder, I could hear it word for word. They played things like dancing in the moonlight, this is not acceptable that I was put in a room where I could hear the weddings play list, this room should not have been let. I talked to a man on reception and he did not know much and couldn’t help, I wanted to speak to a manager but he said there was not one around till morning which is very poor. He said that it is a regular complaint that they get as it is a venue that hosts weddings. He said there was nothing he could do about it. He then said well what do you want me to do, go and turn it down, what if it was your wedding, how would you feel. Well it wasn’t my wedding, I did not book to come away and stay and listen to a wedding reception. I should have stayed at the premiere inn. He said that it was a wedding venue and we should have expected it. He kept saying oh it will be off about 12pm, like that was okay, it was not as I wanted to be asleep by 9pm and couldn’t. It was honestly a joke and horrible service. We had to go and wait it out till it stopped, no offer of any drinks or anything as an apology, just come back in the morning to talk to the manager (which was too late and waisting my time). Unfortunately the manager was the same one I had seen the night before and she was very rude. I was not treated with respect, she spoke to me like I was an ***** and would not resolve my problem telling me that it happens and nothing she could do. I feel so let down. Do not stay here, stay in a cheaper hotel as it would be better service and you may actually get some sleep. Turns out they have a music licence till 2am so it could have been even worse and kept us up even later. Do not bother if you want sleep

This is the 5th time we've stayed at Cottage Lodge, and it won't be our last. The location is such that once parked (in your own, labelled parking space) you can walk from the door to all the local cafes/pubs/restaurants, but it's also possible to walk into the forest and local nature reserve too. A short drive will take you into Lyndhurst (or it's walkable, mostly avoiding the roads). The rooms are all individually named, so you know exactly which room you're going to be staying in - we've only stayed in two, but I'm sure they're all lovely! Rooms are clean, beds are comfy, locally produced tea/coffee and toiletries, fan and heater (neither were needed, but always good to have them!) and a safe. By far the best thing about this hotel is the staff/customer service. Friendly but not 'stuffy'. I let slip that it was my birthday during our stay, and this resulted in our parking space being labelled with Happy Birthday, some birthday bunting appearing in the room, and every single member of staff wishing me Happy Birthday. Hot breakfasts are cooked to order (pre-order the cereal/juice/hot drinks etc the day before) and the small team are very efficient in serving. There is an onsite restaurant ”White Tails” for dinner, operated as a separate business - booking in advance highly advisable, not open every day, but definitely worth going to - the food is great! For us, there are no negatives to staying at Cottage Lodge. Thoroughly recommend.

First impressions - we pulled onto the forecourt and It was very welcoming to see our name on the designated parking sign. We were then shown into the snug area and Jackie brought us coffee and cake and explained the area, brekkie times , honesty bar etc. We didn't stay long as it was really cold in there. She also said that she had put a portable radiator in our room as it had felt chilly in there too. The hotel is in an excellent location, easy walking to the village pubs and restaurants. There is a lovely 5 mile circular, village walk which we did the following day. Our room, The Exbury faced the front. It was large, comfortable, quirky and well appointed with a seating area and a balcony with table and 2 chairs, which would have been nice in summer months. We found the traffic to be quite heavy and noisy at times, specially early morning. If traffic noise is a problem for you, I would definitely recommend you opt for a room at the back. The bathroom was well equipped with good quality sanitary ware and fittings but needed a little TLC in the bath area, with badly fitted bath panel and mis matched tiles. The toiletries were lovely and I wished I had bought some to take home. The breakfast was excellent, super quality produce and a very varied menu, cooked to perfection. We had evening meals in White Tails restaurant and Britannia Thai. Both were also excellent and highly recommended. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at Cottage Lodge, the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely recommend a stay.

When you spend multiple thousands of pounds on your wedding day, you would expect hotel staff to do their upmost to make the day as special as possible. What you do not expect is kitchen staff to completely ignore the list of severe allergies that has been given to them, and then once they have handed out allergen filled food to those affected become rude and defensive to those affected, the bride and groom and family members. The night before my now wife and her bridesmaids had a room booked for all to stay in, when they arrived the room was too small for them all, was so dirty that one bridesmaid hung her dress and it immediately got marked. They were moved to a different room and told there would be no charge. They then ordered room service, which was overpriced and the portion sizes were abysmal. The mistakes made by kitchen staff led my brother (the best man) to a state of near anaphylaxis, meaning he was stuck in a room vomiting and shivering in bed, struggling to catch his breath for the rest of the day. While me and other family members were trying to find out what my brother had consumed to lead to this reaction one member of staff (Mark) confronting my brother who was at the time, hunched over and vomiting, and telling him what was happening was not the fault of the hotel, and there was no chance of contamination in the kitchen. While Mark was trying to cover the hotels arse to the person that they had, for all intents and purposes, poisoned. The ”food and beverage manager” (George) was telling concerned family members and wedding guests that he could not disclose what had been given to my brother (effectively breaking Natasha's law), despite us explaining to him that if we had to rush to the hospital they would need to know what had been consumed. He also told me and my new wife that we had signed disclaimers stating it was not the fault of the hotel if this kind of incident occurred. Eventually, I managed to convince him to bring me the packaging of the Ice Cream my brother had consumed, although he confidently declared it was ”dairy free” the label read dairy ice cream, once I pointed this out he exclaimed ”oh sh1t” and hid the ice cream lid behind his back telling me and other family members ”no proof, no proof”. We still have video evidence of this section occurring, if we require it. And while my sister was trying to explain we needed the ”proof” for if my brother had to go to the hospital, Mark walked over to us at which point George held up a hand and told us to ”shush”. Mark then told George to let us take a photo, which he did, and we did. At which point we were offered a small amount of money behind the bar as a ”good will gesture”, to which I had replied that at a minimum the goodwill gesture would need to be an open bar. For the rest of the wedding George was still continuing to work despite our requests to remove him from our event due to his rudeness to our guests. My brother was unable to leave the hotel room unti

Quick check in, small lift for cases as we were on the first floor, room comfortable with the best sheets and quilt all very clean. Dated furniture but went well with the surroundings. Breakfast was lovey and Brian who served us at breakfast could not do anymore to help, he was polite, efficient and very pleasant. John in the bar was also a pleasure to be around, he told us all about the history of the place and made for good company. The pool was warm and the facilities were fine. The ground were lovely to walk around. All in all we had a lovely stay. We would definitely recommend staying here for a relaxing break.

Reviews From Real Travelers
This review is for an overnight stay of 4 travelers (DH, DS, DBIL, and myself). We arrived early in the morning after disembarking on a 10 day cruise. We were greeted by Joe, who was most helpful and welcoming. We spent the day on a walking excursion and returned back to the hotel around 3 pm. Our chilled rooms were a welcome upon returning with temperatures reaching into the low 90s. We again were we greeted by Joe in the morning to take our breakfast order, call for a taxi, and brought our luggage down to the lobby for us. WOW, that’s great service! The hotel is small (only 10 rooms), with no elevator, and air conditioning only in the rooms. There is a lovely bar and delicious restaurant in this quaint boutique. With charming accommodations, wonderful service - thank you, Joe, convenient location we would recommend Ennios Boutique for unique stay.

After a 10 hour flight and 1.5 hour drive from Heathrow, we were thrilled they were able to get us in our room a bit early. The people who work there were very service oriented. Although a small boutique hotel there was someone to help us get luggage up to room. Room was very clean, comfortable and elegant. Wifi worked great. We were at backside so was very quiet. Near cruise ship and ferry terminals. Lovely walking areas all around. Was close enough to walk to shopping center and Sea Museum. Super friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent. You sit in the far side of restaurant and order off of menu. We had dinner our 2nd night there. It was one of the best meals we’ve had in years! Service was impeccable and menu imaginative! S super start to our British Isles cruise!
