"The hotel is very attractive, the thoroughly covered arrival area with valet parking is extremely convenient. The lobby is pleasant with good service. The rooms.........ours had two large artworks 3' x 6' but only two thin drawers for clothes and a small (3 ft.) closet and lots of empty wall space There was a functional work area, and multiple USB charging outlets and a safe large enough for a full-sized laptop (or some of the clothes that won't fit in the drawers). The night tables were three shelves, two of which were covered with magazines. The king bed was comfy as were the sheets and pillows. The bathroom was large enough to dance a rhumba but there was only a single sink and the only non-countertop storage was two small drawers and a metal grid shelf just off the floor. The commode was in a closet, which I find inconvenient for visits during the dark hours. The shower was one of the best in any hotel; room, water pressure and large, plush towels. The bar and restaurant were good and reasonably priced for a high end hotel although getting there from the sleeping room, on the same floor, almost required a guide."
"We have stayed in many fine hotels around the world, but few can compare with the Grand Bohemian in Mountain Brook, AL. Fantastic accommodations, great location and one of the finest hotel staffs in the business. A stay at the Grand is more than just pleasing, it is truly memorable and your experience there will cause you to want to return. The staff are top notch, very friendly and do their utmost to make you feel comfortable and warmly welcomed during your stay. The hotel itself is a work of Art with interesting collections of artwork throughout. Experience it for yourself and you too will agree that the Grand Bohemian in Mountain Brook is truly an outstanding hotel experience."
"Stayed here for one night, valet staff was very nice and informed me that street parking was free if I wished to park there instead. Outside of the hotel was very attractive. Room itself was quite nice with the bed and bathroom exceptional. Window blind shutters were broken though and a couple light bulbs were not working which showed the wear and tear of the room. Two negatives for me though: 1) The wifi/internet was simply the worst, with dl/ul speeds of no more than 4MBps, also my computer would barely connect to it. Simply unacceptable for a higher end hotel. 2) The gym was extremely basic and seemed to be an after thought of the hotel, could definitely have more variety of equipment. Would have liked to of mentioned this when I checked out but the front desk agent seemed indifferent during checkout."

"This is a very historic older hotel. It was built to be one of the grandest back at the turn of the 1900s with lots of granite, marble and such and it was very nice. Since it was before lots of electricity though, and before a lot of indoor plumbing, it means the rooms had to be adjusted and modernized. They have been modernized quite well and the room had plenty of outlets with charging ports and very modern facilities including an IPad at bedside to contact the hotel or make requests. The bathroom is now spacious and nice. But all the modernization comes at a cost and the actual size of the room is relatively small with all the furniture in it. I prefer a less fancy room with more space but again, it is purely a personal taste and my wife thought the room was great. The reception area was beautiful and the front desk staff was extremely nice and friendly and made us feel very welcome. He was clearly proud of his hotel and his city and it was nice to see. Parking is mainly by valet and they were quick and polite. Those were the good things. The not so good was that it was noisy. bright and the bathroom. Noisy - Whether it was people in the hall, other rooms or sirens going back and forth on the road, it was not a quiet place. We were 13 floors up and still it felt like the sirens and loud cars and motorcycles were right outside. Children and intoxicated partiers in nearby rooms were quite loud and easy to hear. Bright - even with the blackout drapes pulled, the sides of the drapes still let in a lot of light making it hard to sleep. It would have been simple to extend the drapes a few more inches past the window but that was not done for some reason. Bathroom - I am attaching pictures to show what I mean here. First, the door to the bathroom is colored plastic and does not reach the floor or the ceiling. More like the door on a public bathroom stall. Great if you are by yourself but with a spouse, significant other or even kids, it would be tough since you cannot latch or lock it. Perhaps it is petty but the shower gel, shampoo and lotion are all in bottles but the print on them is so small and in such an odd color that I could not read them without my glasses and I do not shower with my glasses. At the very least, they should put a clearly read label on each bottle at the bottom just saying "Shampoo", "Shower Gel" or whatever. Even after the shower with my glasses on I had trouble figuring out which was which. if you like historic places you will like this hotel. If you prefer comfort, you will probably not like it as much. So although I rated it a 3, please note that is just for my personal preference of comfort rather than historic or ritzy. If I were in Birmingham again, I would stay somewhere less expensive."
"They did a nice job with the hotel being inside an older building. I give them a five for appearance. The lobby looks like a museum and the Rooftop Bar is nice. The beds are comfy except for the mattress cover that kept coming off all weekend. The only reason I didn't give and overall five was because of the bathroom. The door itself is nice. But the way it is made is terrible. You literally cannot close the bathroom door. It is basically a revolving door that allows every odor and sound to come out of the bathroom. If you're in the room alone then it's fine. But in the room with someone else you will hear every sound and smell coming from the bathroom because there is an opening at the top and bottom of this revolving door that just pushes or pulls too open or close. You literally have no privacy whatsoever in the bathroom. And for that reason alone I'm not sure if I will ever stay there again with someone. If I'm by myself I will probably come back. Management needs to take a look at that bathroom door it is really terrible the way it is made."
"Our stay at the Elyton was amazing - smooth check-in and excellent service from beginning to end!! You guys really helped make my sister's 30th birthday special. Thank you Sarah Gilliam for helping us coordinate everything and the surprise birthday amenity was a nice surprise! Barnie Jenkins and Kenny were amazing help at the front desk for me esp. I wasn't sure where to park and they helped me immediately and gave me a warm welcome when I arrived. Thank you so much we will be back for future birthdays for sure!"

"My daughter and I stayed one night here after traveling to B’ham for a concert at Iron City. I’d looked into a couple of hotels that were within walking distance to the venue, but after reading some sketchy reviews decided we should stay a little farther away. The Redmont was perfect! It was a short, inexpensive Lyft ride away from Iron City, and we always felt safe. Our room was a little small, but clean and very comfortable. Room service was prompt, and the food good. The lobby area has pretty decor which my daughter enjoyed for photos. We would absolutely stay here again if our travel plans take us to Birmingham!"
"First the staff was pleasant, then they immediately offered an upgrade due to my Hilton Diamond reward status (something the Hilton says I should get but has happened only a few times over hundreds of stays). And the topper! In the morning I found my GMC Yukon had a flat tire. This is a truck body SUV with the spare under the carriage. A Redmont manager named Jay spent an hour helping me change the tire while my family waited inside. He refused any remuneration but will always have our gratitude! "
"We stayed at the Redmont Hotel last night while driving from northern Virginia to Louisiana. I researched hotel chains that were taking Covid seriously. Read that Hilton was taking excellent precautions. Everything I read was true. Very nice hotel. Highly recommend. Would like to go back when bar, restaurant and all services are back! Professional employees. "

"I always stay at this hotel when I need to be in downtown Birmingham. It's very clean, modern, and a great location. There are special "Lysol" cleaning measures and labelled strips on the room door, tv remote and several surfaces detailing the extra measures. The room was spotless! Obviously with fewer travelers and the covid times, the breakfast is a grab and go and dinner is order and pick up with fewer choices. There are a few outside tables for dining on-site. The staff was very attentive to any needs or special requests. I encountered very few guests and actually only one on my floor so it's very quiet. Publix is a block away, several restaurants are within 2 blocks, and Railroad Park is less than a block. No fee for parking. Great beds!"
"We visited for doctors appointments at UAB. Great place to stay in downtown Birmingham. Great location close to Children's and UAB, very clean, very good grab and go breakfast, and friendly staff. The room was spotless... special lysol cleaning measures were labeled on the room doors and various items in the room. They will continue to get our business anytime we are in Birmingham."
"My stay at Hilton was for 2 reasons (Anniversary/business). I do a lot of traveling for work and although I live in B'ham it was my anniversary and I wanted somewhere nice to stay, and convenient to restaurants and night life, that can also become a go to spot for business partners. I commend Hilton team on providing what I was looking for. GREAT STAY WE WILL RETURN "

"For a friend, he said that the hotel is very good, the bedroom is independent and the room is large. The surrounding traffic is also very convenient. Of course, you need to drive by yourself when you go out. The public transportation in the United States is not developed."
"My friend had a birthday at this hotel. The room is large and has a separate living room and bedroom. It is quite good. I will stay in the next opportunity and it is worth recommending to everyone."
"The first room was ok but the second had unfinished fixings inside and holes in the carpet "

"Went to visit our daughter who is a student at UAB. We were hesitant to travel considering the current circumstances, and the cleanliness and procedures of the hotel industry. But this hotel put my mind at ease the moment I walked in. Location was great. Although most tourist sights were closed, they were near. Check in was fast and efficient. The young girl was super nice and quickly and clearly explained all current procedures and changes in light of the Pandemic. Lobby was clean and next to elevators they had sanitizing station with alcohol wipes and formula. Lobby door was locked and could only be opened by room key or by the front desk. Room was super clean and so was the kitchen, bathroom and refrigerator. Sheets and beds were comfortable and very clean. AC was nice and cold, and our floor had washer and drier room with top of the line washers and driers (and all very clean). Because of the pandemic, hot breakfast had to be ordered and taken to your room, which was fine because it promoted social distancing and it was ready within 2-3 minutes. But there was fruit, milk, cereal, muffins, juices, breads and other items you could put in a bag and bring to your room. They also had a dinner snack from 5-7 with wine and beer included (all free). This was also excellent. And the staff handling both eating events were super helpful and friendly. All I can say is WOW !!! Was extremely happy with my stay. And Kudos to housekeeping for cleaning the room really well each day. All staff wore gloves and masks at all times. If there was anything negative, is charging $10 per day for self parking. The lot was in the back of the hotel. Although they say it is gated, and it is, anyone has access to it. The main gate entrance and exit is just an arm that goes up and down, and the back has an opening to go into hotel, but there is a street in between the opening and the hotel that is accessible to Public. Thus, so is the parking lot. But nothing happened. I just think $10 per day is not warranted. If this was New York City where parking is a premium, I would understand. But this is Birmingham. Stayed 4 nights/5 days, but could have spent a month. All in all, I would highly recommend. And when if I return to Birmingham, his where l will stay. Hint, Chinese restaurant next door is not bad. Plenty of food, but get their special fried rice."
"With everything occurring with the Coronavirus, we were unsure if my son's basketball tournament would be canceled. Early Thursday morning, after the NBA canceled the remainder of their season, my son's tournament was canceled. Since I purchased my hotel through Orbitz, I was freaking out because I thought I had thrown money that I would need away. After speaking with the hotel's manager, Byron Baldwin, my fears were quickly turned to tears of joy knowing that I would get a refund and they were even going to waive the cancellation fee. When a crisis of this magnitude occurs, it is just heart-warming to know that there are still good people/good businesses like the Homewood Suites by Hilton Birmingham Downtown Near UAB that aren't trying to take advantage of their customers. I will continue to be a loyal customer of Hilton and Homewood Suites because it is obvious that they care about me as a customer. Thank you Byron and Homewood Suites ."
"We are Hilton Lifetime Diamond members—in other words we have stayed many, many nights in Hilton properties over the years. This property is by far the nicest Homewood Suites we have ever stayed in! Absolutely beautiful, well run, immaculately clean, great staff, good location, walking distance to restaurants, I could go on and on! We spent two nights at this property on our way to Florida because we wanted to tour a few of the Civil Rights sights. We booked a three hour tour with Red Clay tours, which was definitely worth it. The only downside was the Civil Rights Museum was closed for a private event the day we were there, so we were not able to visit. But it gives us an excuse to return to Birmingham! I look forward to staying at this Homewood Suites when we return. "

"We had a lovely stay at the Tutwiler. Within walking distance of the Civil Rights Institute and the Railroad park. Breakfast was prepackaged for COVID regulations. "
"The staff was very friendly but the room was just very hot. We turned it down to 63 and it was still too hot. I also didn't hear the ghost "knock" but I did hear a POUND on the door at like 3AM and bout lost it. "

"This property should probably shut down for a while to get its affairs in order. The room I had was downright DIRTY, and even after reporting it to one of the front desk members, and asking that a manager contact me about the state of the room, nobody did. The same person I reported the room to and asked to have a manager call me checked me out, and when I asked why, the person shrugged and said "I told 'em!!" Great. Thanks. I invite you to view the pictures I've attached to this review to see for yourself. Issues include, but are not limited to: - Dirty, crusty carpet at various points in the room - Yellow-ish crusty stain on bedspread (YUCK), I never ate anything on the bed, so goes to show you that they don't change them out - Leakage/spillage in minifridge area - DISGUSTING trash-filled jacuzzi in the pool area: cordoned off by yellow tape, and full of gross water and candy wrappers and fast food bags - Dead flies in and sticky substance in the windowsill - Greasy children's handprints all over the wallpaper - One of the drawers under the TV wouldn't stay shut, even with nothing in it - Dust CRUSTED on air intake louvers - White flakes on the carpet that stayed the same even after multiple servicings of the room. Shows they didn't even bother to vacuum - Warped carpet in the hallway - They only serviced the room every three days, but obviously one needs trash taken out more than that. Trashcans by elevator stayed full with SAME OBJECTS in it for more than 24hrs They offer a coffee station downstairs, but had zero accomodation for tea drinkers. I asked if they had a kettle for the room I could borrow, and the front desk agent said "Kettle?!!?" like they had never heard of such a thing. I drink Tea, as do many other nationalities. To not have any solution for tea drinkers as a purported international standard brand, and at one of the nicest hotels in the city seemed baffling. They only service the rooms "every 3 days," but they clearly did not change out the bed linen or vacuum the room even on the days they allegedly clean the room. Seems they just threw some additional towels in the bathroom and made the bed. They didn't even empty the trash cans, I had to leave those in the hallway (full) to have them emptied. On the second day, I asked the attendant on my floor for some room spray so I can at least freshen up the room, she gave a cursory look at her cart and said "It seem I don't got none on here" and went back to cleaning the room she was in. I left the property and came back over 4 hours later. She was still working on my floor and asked her again for the room spray. She still didn't have any. So, NONE of the rooms on that floor got sprayed at all that day!?!? She was also listening to some hardcore rap on her phone that had n-words and f-bombs flying. I had to go downstairs to the front desk to ask for the spray, which they then told me the attendants have on their carts. Since you only get "service" every fe"
"We had dropped our daughter off at University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and needed to pick up a cabinet in Birmingham. My husband was also flying in from Boston so this was the perfect spot. At arrival we were told that parking was FREE (awesome perk) and that they had a FREE airport shuttle service. The kids (Teenagers) and I went to the gym (small but nice) and kids also checked out the shallow pool (more suited for little kids). Our rooms were perfectly appointed and very clean. This location is a short walk to Top Golf so we walked over and had apps and drinks while we waited for my husband who was able to utilize the airport shuttle. I can't recall the rate as I paid with points but I would definitely stay here again! My only issue was the next day I realized they charged me for both of my rooms when I booked through my credit card portal with points. A quick phone call and the issue was remedied but just keep an eye out."
"Stayed here for the red nose ball event at the BJCC. Brian W who is one of the bellman at the hotel was very accommodating and so helpful. I honestly have never had better service from a bellman at any hotel than what this fine gentlemen gave me. First, he greeted me at the door with a warm smile, then offered to take my luggage to the room, and even walked me over to the BJCC to show me where the skywalks were so I didn’t get lost that night getting to the event. This young man will go far in life with the type of service he provides to guests. I truly hope his manager sees this and knows he is AWESOME! Thanks for everything Brian. You rock! Izzy Isom"
