"Would have been a five rating only for just one little niggle, see in review. We booked this for an overnighter, as going to a gig at The Trades Club. We have previously stayed at Croft Mill Apartments and wanted a change. We had room 8 in the courtyard which was really very nice and comfortable, not as small as we had expected from the description. Booked a table for 6pm, however, were a wee bit early and the staff gave us the opportunity to go straight in to the dining room, but we opted for a drink first and sat beside a roaring fire, lovely! Ordered our food after a while and went in with it to the dining room! Our meal was lovely and I can thoroughly recommend the cheese pie and gravy!!! It was stupendous! I drank the left over gravy from the pot! I would return for this meal alone! Hubby had a burger which he said was really good and meaty! Right just the niggle part! Hubby likes to do Park Run on a Saturday morning and saw that Centre Vale Park was just 15 minutes away in Todmorden. I had to call to see what times breakfast was served as there is no mention of them on the website at all. I was informed it was 8.30 to 9.30am, so there was no chance of us getting back for those times. The girl did say she was on on the Saturday morning and could do us some toast ect, but no more. We then reminded them in the evening and were told they could maybe do us a packed lunch. However, we did not want that, so very disappointed indeed that the times were not so flexable on a weekend, seeing that checkout is at 11am. The majority of places we have stayed in over the years finish breakfast at 10 to 10.30am ish. So again very disappointed and we actually did get back for ten to ten, shame! Mentioned it again when checking out and no notice was taken at all and of course, not even a token gesture of something knocked off our bill. This would probably not put us off in the future, but think that more flexability would make The White Lion more appealing."
"We stayed for two nights here as the final part of our 10 night Summer staycation....talk about saving the best til last!!! Our Sat Nav did send us slightly the wrong way but a quick phone call to the hotel solved the problem with the lovely young lady staying on the phone to us to guide us to where we needed to be! We were checked in by the friendly young team to room 3. This was a deluxe suite, perfectly appointed at the front of the building, with large windows, gorgeous furnishings and lighting and a huge bathroom with both free-standing roll top bath and large walk-in shower. The room was spotless, so important during this times. Complimentary toiletries were provided (good quality ones of course) and beautiful fluffy towels. A good guide was there in the room with plenty of information about the hotel and surrounding areas. WiFi was excellent. Other room facilities were spot on, not least the super-comfy bed! We really couldn’t fault it. We ate in the restaurant on the first night of our stay - what can I say, the food really was to die for! I had homemade cheese and onion pie with chips and proper gravy - oh my days if that was my last meal ever I would die happy! My wife had rump steak with pepper sauce, cooked to perfection. We both ate every morsel. We shared a desert, how could we resist trying out a pudding when the mains had been so good!! Apple crumble with whiskey custard didn’t disappoint! We would give our stay six stars if we could and will certainly return in the future, both to stay and dine. Thank you to all the team at the White Lion for making us feel so welcome - keep up the excellent work! "

"Just had to write this whilst still sitting in the restaurant! We were recommended by friends for the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast package. No annoying supplements oriented choices on the menu - any dish from the a la carte range is include. We had scallops and parfait to start followed by lamb platter (perfectly cooked mini rack with beautifully brasied melt in the mouth lamb breast) served with a little dish of a stock reduction jus, sticky and flavouful. I had the surf and turf - fillet steak cooked med rare trust me. Staff lovely company and are totally well briefed with masks, distancing and full understanding of what it takes to be a responsible caterer in this Covid world. "
"We booked online for Sunday lunch,2 courses for £17 or 3 for £20. When we arrived we were seated in the bar area where our drinks were brought and food orders taken. The staff were very attentive nothing was too much trouble. After a short wait they seated us in the restaurant area. I had the belly pork,Mum had the chicken and my daughter had steak and ale pie I was glad I hadn’t ordered the starter as the portion sizes were good, still enough room for the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Will definitely visit again."
"Very large double room with nice en suite bathroom. This property has a coffee station in the corridor with a toaster, kettle coffee machine and a fridge with milk in. Also there are bottles of alcohol in the fridge which you can take and leave the money for your purchases, but no kettle in the rooms, but that is not a problem.. Easy access to the property next door to the public house,up the stairs to the rooms so you can come and go s you please, and around the rear of the pub is ample secure parking."

"Stayed again on business this week. In all i have now stayed somewhere in the region of a dozen times and can comment that in general its not bad, however there are some niggles that really should be fixed and would not take a great deal of time or effort. Rooms have all been clean and well equipped, however i have struggled to find a window that fits and there is a lot of traffic noise all night if you are on the front or side of the building. Food is good in the bar and can honestly say very good portions. The restaurant is cold and empty. Service in the Bar is good, however on checking out i was shown a receipt that had a signature on it and told it was mine, as i never signed anything except the paperwork to check in i informed the receptionist that it was clearly forged, a point she totally ignored after she showed me a copy of my signature on the checking in document, which indeed clearly showed the receipt was not a very close representation of my Signature. The car park is ok and there are a great number of signs around the building to remind you to check your car in yourself on a touch screen. The reception staff do not even try to draw your attention to it. After a tiring day, all you want to do is get on with relaxing. General areas are clean and tidy, however when i arrived, the corridors were littered with food trays that had been left outside rooms. One niggly point at breakfast. I was asked what I wanted to drink and informed they would bring it to my table, however this didn't arrive and when I went to find out why, I had to interrupt a meeting of the staff in the restaurant entrance. Finally, as we are in early stages of the corona virus, I was appalled at the lady checking in guests to breakfast, coughing without any attempt to cover her mouth on a number of occasions. Overall ok and the location suits my business, however i would not go there for anything else."
"I stayed for one night and had some problem neighbours that kept us awake part of the night. In the morning I dropped my partner off at work, when I can back to the hotel I explained how exhausted I was and a lovely gentleman on reception swapped my room to a better one and said I could stay a little longer to get some sleep. After lunch a lovely lady in the spa allowed me to go in after 12 (which is the cut off point for guests staying the night before) I had spent most of the morning sleeping so I had totally missed the spa. As I was on my own this was a lovely relief. I didn’t get your names but it did make staying in the hotel even better. Thank you :-)"
"My wife and I stayed there for 2 nights and had a really nice stay. The room was clean, bright and warm and the staff most helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant one night as part of the package and were most impressed with the quality of the food. The only negative and why they get 4 stars instead of 5 was the buffet breakfast. I’m not a fan of those anyway and the breakfast on the first morning was cool and the coffee wasn’t much better. The second morning was much better but it shouldn’t be a lottery whether you get a hot breakfast or not. Oh and they charged us for dinner on the first night which was part of the package but that was soon sorted out and refunded. We go down to Rochdale regularly for family and have tried a few hotels but from now on this will be the one we stay at."

"Love the team handling concierge services - casual yet respectful and genuinely concerned with your welfare. Spacious room with a killer bed and extremely comfortable furnishing. I was experiencing vertigo and had thrown up for a few times prior to check out and the reception allowed me to continue resting until I felt well enough to check out. Really appreciate such a kind gesture. I’ll definitely choose to stay at this hotel again when I’m in Manchester. "

"Visited Rochdale for a family gathering. Being a Rochdalian this hotel was my first choice. Reception team were very polite and helpful. Room was spotless..if a little cold but it was freezing outside. Breakfast was outstanding and the breakfast team were brilliant. Worked out a little pricey but that's because it was Valentines night..if the party was next week there was almost £50 difference due to Valentines..cant be helped and wouldnt put me off staying. "
"Great service, excellent dining. Food delicious and excellent value for money. The bar area is so relaxing and with such a beautiful fireplace. Comfortable seating area when waiting to be seated. Never disappoints."
"Have been going here for a number of years always good friendly service. We had the lunch/early evening meal deal which is exceptional value and the food was delicious. I had soup from a choice of starters followed by fish and chips while my wife had pate’ followed by steak which was excellent."

"We had to move out of our house whilst having a new bathroom fitted and we needed to stay somewhere nearby so we chose the Premier Inn at The John Milne in Milnrow. We had two rooms as our two sons were with us. I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely rooms and the cleanliness. I am a bit of a clean freak and I was impressed. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. We had to stay for longer than planned and needed to book more nights. We were given new rooms and to make it easy for us, they gave us the two rooms opposite our original ones. They also gave us all day to do this at the cost of not being able to resell those rooms until the following day. This allowed us to go to work etc and we could move when we got back. Brilliant customer service. A special shout out to Brian, one of the reception staff. It didn't matter what time of day or night you saw him, he was always smiling and helpful, making sure everything was OK for us. We had a great experience. Well done to the whole team. Thank you."
"A good location, friendly staff on check in, which always helps with first impressions. Usual good standard of room. Excellent restaurant next door for both evening meal and breakfast. I have to say that the cooked breafast was the best we have eaten anywere and we've been to a lot of Premier Inns over the years. We will definatley be returning in better weather for a long walk around the lovely Hollingworth lake."
"When we travel up north we always stay here. The staff are so amazing, especially Brian. I suppose we have got to know him a little and he always seems genuinely interested. He is a lovely man and an asset to the Premier Inn. We were told civic rules upon arrival and everywhere was spotless as usual. What a great staff. Thank you for making us feel safe."

"The nicest staff I’ve ever come across from the front desk to the spa/gym staff. Made to feel so welcome. Clean room great tv channels excellent bar service with great pub grub. Breakfast was so nice too although they had stopped the buffet due to the virus outbreak. But the kitchen staff made fresh bacon or sausage buns.the spa area in this hotel is absolutely beautiful so relaxing. Thank you for my wonderful stay your staff are amazing "
"Great hotel with quality staff, food in the bar is amazing and great value, swimming pool and spa are also amazing, couldn’t find a fault during my stay and I have worked in the industry for 25 years and can be critical if I see something that’s not up to standard but this wasn’t the case with this top quality hotel."
"I go for my morning coffee most mornings and the staff are always very pleasant. Charlie even opened ten minutes early for me which shows the staff commitment. I would highly recommend using the coffee shop when in and around HYDE"
