"Loved this place. Hotel is located right on Main street near restaurants and next to a Dunking Donuts and gas station. Also right across from the Pittsford Dairy which you MUST visit (fresh ice cream, fresh dairy, homemade baked goods, cookies, pies, etc). I stayed one night on a package including lodging, breakfast and a 60 massage at their spa. Arrived a little before the massage time to check in. Very friendly staff and easy check-in. Hand sanitizer stations all over, masks worn and signs everywhere reminding about distancing. The room was nothing special but very cozy, clean, and comfortable. The bed was a bit firm for my taste but comforter was soft and plush. They give you individually wrapped slippers, ironing board, mini-fridge, Aveda skin products, large flat screen, opening windows, and coffee setup with a few biscotti crackers. Our package included a cheese platter and bottle of wine also delivered to the room. The massage was great with a very clean spa and friendly employees. The hotel is right next to the canal and has benches to relax on a walking path along the canal. Ample parking behind the hotel and breakfast at the restaurant was good. Disappointed the corned beef hash was not homemade but looked and tasted canned. Friendly servers and good sized offerings. Bottomless coffee and even took a cup to go. Overall great experience. Felt safe, cozy and clean. Will definitely be back to this hotel when I return to Pittsford."
"I like the Del Monte alot - one of the nicer hotels in the Rochester area - we've stayed here a few times. Stayed there last weekend and it's the first time we've been back since they renovated their rooms......went with a more modern vibe - which was fine..., but I wish they had invested some $$$ into new beds. Room 110 - possibly the worst mattress I've slept on in years. I travel between 50-80 nights a year for work and I'm positive that beds at the lower end of the Marriott Brand, like Fairfield Inns, Townhouse Suites etc., have beds that are more comfortable than this mattress - it was horrible. We should have complained after the first night - that was our fault we didn't - but it was so bad on the 2nd night, that midway through the evening, my wife got up and went to sleep on the 'chaise type chair' they have in the room - her back was killing her so much. I'm not sure if all their beds are like that - but room I'd highly recommend NOT staying in room 110!! Shame, because in the past we've had really great experiences at the hotel - Eerie Grill serves great breakfasts and the Spa is the best in town..........maybe that's what they were trying to do - sleep on crappy mattress - you'll buy a massage at the Spa !!!! Hope they fix their bedding soon!!!!"
"When visiting Rochester, we often stay at the Fairfield Inn on Hard road which is operated by the Del Monte. Staff and visits there have been great and if problems arise, they are dealt with quickly. Because of that staff, we decided to take a rewards stay at the Del Monte Inn right on the canal in downtown Pittsford. The hotel is in a great location on the Erie Canal and inside is a beautiful hotel. There are lobby renovations going on that will add to the hotel character. When we returned from dinner, our room was cold and I could not get the thermostat to work and the heat would not go on. I went to the desk and they didnt think the engineering staff were there but they would work on that. In the end we received a portable heater. It took a while but the room did warm up. In the early morning my wife took a shower and started to use the hair dryer when the lights went out in the bathroom as did the portable heater. It was obvious the Breaker had blown. I called on the phone and 2 people came up but werent sure where the breakers were. IT took some time but they did eventually find them and restore power. I explained to the desk on checkout I was not pleased and the gentleman (looked like a manager) said he would have to look into it and see what he could do. I left with the impression nothing would happen and a week later I have heard nothing and no consideration, points or otherwise has shown up. He should have been able to make a decision at the time for this stay. Having been a lifetime gold member, I am disappointed. We won't come back."
