I booked a night in Lucknam Park for Christmas staying in one of the Country Rooms. I have visited Lucknam many times for spa days and their restaurants but wanted to experience an overnight stay. Firstly, I was contacted a few days after my booking to ensure that I knew the brasserie and spa were closed during our stay. I did know about the brasserie but it wasn't clear that the spa was closed. However, not a huge issue and we changed the date to two weeks later at an additional charge of £26. Check in isn't until 3pm but we arrived early so we could spend the day in the spa. The front desk staff (Gareth) was lovely and extremely helpful. He charged us the £26, apologised for the inconvenience of having to change the date and told us that the spa actually reopened a few days early due to the work being completed. We made our way over to the spa through the beautiful and historical grounds. There is building work in the brasserie (connected to the spa) but they have managed this in a respectful way. After arriving at the spa; we were informed that the hydro pool jets were not working (extremely annoying when you have a bad back) and the door that takes you outside in the hydro pool was also broken. Hmm not great on a windy day in February to get out of a lovely warm pool and standing dripping wet outside. Next into the changing room; you are provided with a towel, flip flops and a dressing gown. Lockers are free. It was extremely clean and plenty of showers with toiletries. However, a few negatives, they either need to install underfloor heating or rethink the flooring. It was extremely cold to stand on. The toilet paper was not replenished during the day. They no longer have Dyson hairdryers available (I believe they are now babylis - not a huge deal; just an observation). Next into the pool. As I previously said; the hydro pool wasn't working. Unfortunately neither was the amethyst room also wasn't working. There was workman in and out a lot during the day. Lot's of free water. Any other drink can be purchased from the reception. We ordered coffee - filter coffee that arrives in a cardboard coffee cup and cost £3.50. We were slightly peckish and decided to get dressed and wander over to the lounge for a sandwich. It was a big portion and very tasty. We finally checked into our room around 4pm. We gave the feedback regarding the spa (the slight disappointment for the spa being open but actually not being fully functional and being charged extra for this). We were immediately refunded the extra charge and the team were extremely apologetic. Gareth then took us over to our room. Well, all I can say is WOW! What a room. Due to the hotel being quiet we were upgraded to a junior suite on the court yard. It was beautiful. Half a bottle of champagne, a small tin of biscuits and fruit were waiting for us. Service is good, room equipment is average. Breakfast is very special, but the door locks are old (every time you open the door, you have to kneel on the ground for a long time, like a thief. But the key is not inserted, anxious!). You can charge an extra bed, but you will have to pay for the extra bed (but please prepare for a small enough consumption. Because the waiter is awkward and hard-working when making a bed, it will really make you feel uncomfortable)

I was excited to go back after the refurbishment, having had a great time previously. We had to wait for the girl on the spa reception to finish her chat before acknowledging us. We were given some forms and told to take a seat. The spa was filled with children who were running riots. We were told when booking the arrival drink was tea or coffee, so we ordered a coffee and was told the coffee machine was broken so could only have herbal tea. So we were not off to a good start. Then off to get changed where the girl said there would be towels and flip flops already in the locker. Only one of us had a locker with this in. So we had to interrupt the receptionists chat to get those. The facilities have not been refurbished, and the steam room smelt so bad we couldn't bear to use it. Indoor pool is lovely, but it needs a bit of music or something. Cups and mugs and towels were left throughout the whole morning. Treatments we had booked for the same time as per my confirmation. We sat waiting, two of my friends went through, and I sat there, so I asked and was told my treatment was 30 minutes later. I queried this, and she said the manager had moved it some time ago. There was an apology that I hadn't been informed but added to the already there frustration. The treatment itself was amazing, my therapist really listened to what I wanted and delivered(sorry I forgot your name, brown hair and glasses, but you really do deserve credit) in fact, all of us were blown away by the treatments. Although, you can hear absolutely everything from the treatment room. could hear the same girl from the desk, noise from the gym and every time someone opened the changing room. As this was a treat for a friend we did not make a fuss, we paid and went for lunch earlier than planned. We went through to the hotel, where the receptionist was busy looking at her mobile over helping us. We made our own way to the restaurant. I did absolutely love the decor in the main hotel and that felt as though it really transformed. Lunch was great, service was excellent. We didn't get any names, but everyone who served us was fabulous. Things were on the look up! We decided to stay in the bar and lounge area for our coffee, finally! We really eally enjoyed the atmosphere up there. Overall, I wouldn't go back to the spa, the expierience of the spa itself wasn't relaxing or luxury. I can't wait to go back for lunch.

The hotel is very historical and very old. Sitting in the banquet hall, ordering a glass of brandy and listening to classical music is very sensational. Stayed in the Elizabeth Suite, in the three-story attic, it was not as good as I thought. There are a few wood piles in the middle of the room, it feels weird! Both the entrance and exit of the bathroom had to bow and the door was short. The key is that there is no elevator, you need to move your luggage to climb the building! The stairs are very narrow, or the ones that turn in circles. The steps are stones that are polished. Although the front desk lady asked me at CHECK IN, do I need to carry the baggage for you? But I feel that I am still not used to trouble them. The breakfast is very good, there are many types, and you can order some meals. In short, I feel that the price is not high, which is the lower ranking of the hotel in this hotel.

This hotel is the only hotel in town, so the tourist season is very hot and the price is not cheap. However, in fact, in addition to the Arlington row room suitable for taking pictures, there is nothing to look at here. Had high expectations of my stay and it was completely fulfilled and I was impressed. Overall welcome and ambience was just right being professional and sincere. Our bed room, junior suite after upgrading with extra fee, was reasonably sized although the bathroom with the layout of the door made it difficult and slightly dangerous to enter / close behind guest. The spa village was busy but understandable; it felt clean and very updated overall so there was less of a concern on hygiene which is understood can be difficult to maintain standards. The breakfast room, choices and service was fine as expected so it’s worth signing up for. Although by day 2, it was hard fo imagine having another breakfast so possibly having breakfast for one day as an option would be good. Would have liked to have body lotion in bathroom as I had to rely on the one available in the spa village… and with 2 nights stay, toiletries were not replenished … Always a nice welcome when soft drinks / mini bar is complimentary ; although it doesn’t cost a lot to fill a fridge but small gestures like these make guests feel more welcomed Thanks for a great stay; would like to take my 80 year old mum here sometime in future as she would enjoy it tremendously !!
