Reviews From Real Travelers
My son and I stayed one night in a one bedroom suite while in town to tour Vassar. The hotel’s location and nearby amenities (we walked to a very decent sushi dinner) was great. Other than that, the hotel was really loud - lots of screaming in the hallways until late at night, the people staying in the room on the other side of my head had their alarm going at 6 am for almost an hour and it might as well have been in my room. Walls don’t appear to have any sound mitigation at all. The sofa bed (where my son slept) was too uncomfortable as a bed (and the thin mattress was stained/dirty with no mattress cover) so he re-folded it into a couch. Needless to say we didn’t get much sleep. Wish I had better things to say. It’s also awkward to have to go through the bedroom to get to the one bathroom. We’ve stayed at many Residence Inns and not had this experience.

I was very pleased with this property. It was clean, comfortable and convenient. There are restaurants very near. The breakfast isn’t great, but it is like any other Residence Inn. I would completely be willing to stay there again.

New decoration, convenient surrounding facilities, great service! Especially the young male manager at the front desk 👍

Reviews From Real Travelers
We stayed at this property for 2 nights while visiting relatives. Grounds/Public Areas: When we checked in at the front desk, the staff was friendly. The lobby was in the process of being renovated. The corridors were clean and kept up. However the pool was closed due to renovation. There was no continental breakfast, but there was weak coffee. Rooms: The room featured a patio area in the back, a mini-fridge, microwave, sink, TV, and desk with a lot of space. The lamp on the table included a power outlet and an outlet to charge electronics if needed. The room also featured two queen beds and a bathroom. However, I was disappointed in the several maintenance issues at this location. The lock on the bathroom door didn’t work. Water was on the bathroom floor, suggesting a leak somewhere. These are issues I would not be surprised to see at a budget property, but they made this hotel seem a bit run down for a Marriott property. Overall, the staff was friendly, and it was a decent place to stay. However, they should be addressing some of the issues that were just discussed. I hope my review is helpful.

First of all, there is only one elevator for this sprawling facility, if you are unucky enough to get the rom farthest from the elevator, you will have a very long walk. If you are handicapped, better ask for a room right next to the elevator and hope you get a parking space near the exit door closest to it, otherwise you are out of luck!! Second, there is no pool. They tell you it's under construction but there is absolutely NO evidence that a pool is being constructed and they've turned the old pool into a conference space. Third, there are nice balconies but no furniture on them. Fourth, for a recently renovated hotel, the headboard inour room was completely scratched and marred. Fifth, there is no free breakfast. I try to be loyal to Marriott but I am sorry I didn't stay at the Hilton; it had free breakfast and a pool!

Reviews From Real Travelers
The Holiday Inn Express at 2750 South Road in Poughkeepsie, New York has got to be an example of one of the worst properties in existence with the Holiday Inn name. My booking was for a four-night stay. When my wife and I arrived, we found the by a parking lot uneven and full of potholes. When I checked in there were no luggage carts to be found. The desk clerk was very nice and offered to search the hotel for a luggage cart. The design of the bathroom was horrible, the room was large but had a small single sink vanity that left no room for guest toiletries. The mirror behind the vanity had a bright light on each side that ran the full length of the mirror. The glare was so bad I could not see my face well enough to shave. The next day we were away from the property the entire day and upon returning we found that no service whatsoever had been performed. Very prominently in our room was a card displaying how the hotel would strive to perform all the functions such as trash disposal, refreshing towels and washcloths, making the bed, and generally performing all the duties a good hotel would do. None of these things were done. We complained to the front desk clerk, and she gave us some towels and washcloths. There was an apology but no offer of compensation. The charges for Saturday and Sunday were astronomical, especially for a property with no functioning pool. When I checked out, there was still no offer of compensation. I complained and was offered about $100 reduction and 500 points. My charges just for June 16th and June 17th were $650.67. I thought that offer was an insult. I complained to the clerk, and she responded that the hotel manager would get back to me in a few days. He did not, and about a week later I called him to complain. He became somewhat irritated and proceeded to tell me “how the hotel business ran”, and he was not going to do anything for me. I proceeded to tell him the clerk had already offered a pittance. He offered to return $112.13. Had this been a Marriott or Hilton property I know the manager would have totally comped the room for that night. The reason I know this is because other hotels that I have been to have gone out of their way to please their guests in this fashion.

I find this brand generally good, but a few locations have some problems. This one however was excellent, I have no complaints at all. The rooms were comfortable, as usual, and the coffee selection was good (it isn't at all of them, I think the local mgr must have some choice of which flavors to put in the room). The front desk staff were polite and efficient, just great. The location is good as it is set far b ack enough that I didn't have any traffic noise problems (probably better more towards the end away from the road), and it is super convenient for getting to the interstates quicly. Also, it is near numerous shops, restos, and grocery stores to pick up items for dinner if you want to eat in. The Wifi also worked well, which again is a problem in some of these.
