Had a wonderful stay at Porters - lovely room, king size bed, with everything you need, and a small private balcony. Perfect part of town, so close to everything, undercover parking included. We found the staff to be absolutely top notch, so welcoming and happy to do absolutely anything to make your stay as good as possible. In particular, we'd like to compliment Christopher, who was so helpful and kind. On the nights we were there, the restaurant wasn't open for breakfast, so we were given vouchers to Maina nearby and it serves about the best breakfast you could find anywhere! Basically, this is a great hotel, they're doing everything right.

Excellent hotel in every way. The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable with everything provided that you might need. The food at Malo was great and great room service course by course. Cannot rate whole experience highly enough. Will be back.

The staff at the hotel's front desk are friendly and the rooms are very clean. It's about a 10-minute walk to Napier beach. The scenery along the way is very beautiful and it's worth recommending.

We stayed one night before flying to Wellington. Check in was a breeze, the staff was excellent and we loved the art deco features in the hotel. The rooms were renovated with the bedroom having lots of art deco style but the bathroom was more modern - which we appreciated. They hid a power cube with usb ports, which was helpful. Parking was one block away and east to get to. You can’t beat the location for waterfront access and shopping nearby. Some good dining options as well. Only downside is Napier goes to bed early.

We stayed here because the whole of Napier was rebuilt in the 1930's after an earthquake. The centre of town is all art deco buildings. The hotel is art deco internally & we stayed in the ”Mark Twain” suite. The room was very comfortable with all the fixtures and fittings you'd expect. They have off site parking 500m away if you book. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around for meals. Worth doing the historical trip across the road at the museum including driving around in period cars. Also good for antique shopping.

An absolute disgrace. It has blown my mind reading other reviews. The pictures shown online are nothing like what the place was like. I walked into the garden shed and it was a sauna, I had to leave the aircon on full blast 24/7 for 4 days, to spend as little time as possible here. There was no wifi when we arrived, the manager did try to help, “standing outside the door you get a bit of wifi” it eventually came on the next day only in one room! There were pubes in the bed from previous customers, the sofas are completely sunken in, you cannot sit on them. I felt so repulsed even making a cup of coffee. It was that awful I would leave the house around 9am and not return til 11pm, I couldn’t handle the depression of being in this dump. I couldn’t book anywhere else as it was NYE. I considered going back home it was that awful. Also there was no hand wash in the house, given the pandemic I was surprised. There was a hole in the front door, a stain that looked like poo on the toilet wall. I cannot express how much of a dump this place is. The curtains had to be drawn all day to keep out the heat, the building is a shed, you could put a hole in the wall with your thumb. It felt like a crack house with curtains drawn all day, the weird smell and just the overall state of the furniture. To top it off, customers from the pub were rowing outside our dump unit one night, a guy punched the woman to the floor, police were called. This place needs to be bulldozed.

First and only place we'd booked on our motorcycle holiday around the north island. Great parking for the bikes in a private setting. Service was very good, rooms were clean but dated. Being able to have a beer or 2 onsite was an added extra plus for us. Food was outstanding! The only downside is the layout of the place. Pulling up you think it's awful and want to walk away, not aware the accommodation is out the back. May be to do with the new road layout? Glad we stayed here though.Being able to practice my limited Tagalog and Bisaya was awesome! Nalingaw kami sa among pagpuyo. Salamat.

As I entered the room was an amazing view from when you walk in to walking out the front to a balcony over looking the ocean. Was was but did get cold at night and with aircon and heater made it amazing. They had a spa bath in there was amazing to relax and watch TV at the same time. Wish I was either partner but being alone made it more enjoyable. Has room service but I slept in and missed out. All and all.... amazing night comfy bed warm and dry

We booked through AirBnB, which had a great price for what we got. Separate rooms with comfortable king beds, two bathrooms (one with a jetted bath!), good heating, televisions, parking (although limited) - everything you could want! Very good value - although if you prefer cooking on your holidays, the kitchen is more 'ette.

Room was good, strange set up with the curtains the way the heater was set up though. Bathroom was quite small but 100% functional, did have issues with water changing temperature in the shower which is a bug bear of mine. Overall a great place to stay though.

First place the best. It's in the middle of the city and just across the road is the spa and the sea.
The rooms are okay, and the downside is that there is a little noise in the morning as it is right behind the main road.

The location of the hotel is very good, facing the bay, across the road is the seaside, there are many restaurants around, and the hotel facilities are okay, relatively clean. There are many wineries nearby, very stylish.
