"I have stayed at many hotels during the COVID crisis (due to my job) and this one was by far the most caring and invested in the safety of its customers. If you care about your safety and health, I cannot recommend staying at this location enough. Right when you walk in, there is a touch-free, automatic hand sanitizer dispensing machine by the front desk. The front desk employee (I think her name is Sarah?) wears gloves and a mask (covering both nose and mouth) and uses hand sanitizer before checking you in. She was wearing nitrile gloves, which is great for people with latex allergies and the gloves had long cuffs that covered her sleeves about half way up her forearm. Breakfast - Unlike most hotels I stayed in (who were holding free-for-all buffets with no safety measures), this hotel conducted breakfast in a very safe manner. Breakfast assortment is set up behind the front desk. The front desk lady prepares a to-go bag based on your order and changes her gloves between each customer. The selection was a choice between 2 hot breakfast sandwiches (Jimmy dean pre-wrapped which I appreciated safety-wise), apple, danish, muffin, breakfast bars, bottled fruit juices and coffee. I thought the breakfast was a great balance between choice/taste and safety - no worries about who is touching/coughing on the food and you still get a hot breakfast with other items. I highly commend the front desk employee and the hotel on this method - I think other hotels should model their practice. This hotel appears to be brand new too - whoever designed it was very thorough in thinking about utility. in the room - lots of usb and three-prong outlets. For international travelers, there were also two outlets that are compatible with any plug head type. The sheets and comforter were very soft. I also liked the 2 pillow types. Everything felt of premium quality and exceeds what is normally expected of a chain hotel. I have stayed in much higher end brands and the materials and equipment this Holiday Inn Express uses by far beats them. I did not use the gym or the pool during my stay. I must say that the gym looked huge and was outfitted with a lot of different machines, weights, balls and bands. Overall, I was super impressed with this Holiday Inn Express. Its was clear that the owner/operator was dedicated and invested a lot of money, time, and thought in building the hotel, and in keeping customers safe during COVID. I only stayed for one night stop but I would not hesitate to come again and would recommend this location to anybody."
"We drove to Ocala for a friend’s funeral and after 14 hours on the road, this hotel room was just the ticket for a good night’s sleep. The comfy bed and the amount of room we had was a welcomed sight. The location is great - it’s busy, but the hotel is right off the interstate and has plenty of great restaurants nearby. The Paddock Mall is just a few miles away, too. The room was just perfect for our two-night stay. The bathroom was nicely done with a large shower and even a small footrest inside the shower to make shaving your legs easier! Only complaint about the bathroom was that the light behind the mirror is very bright...great for putting on makeup, but super bright when using the bathroom in the middle of the night. The window shades definitely blocked the lights in the evenings and made for a great sleep. The bed was comfy and we loved the outlets in the nightstand and the low lights around the headboard. Our favorite touch though was the luggage bench and hooks on the wall! It was genius because I never find a good place to put my suitcase or purse, etc. It was just perfect. The staff was friendly in the few interactions I had with them. One of the elevators was out of service for part of our stay, which was good because that specific one made a few noises that left me uneasy. The hotel did serve a hot breakfast and I noticed that the gym was available but you had to get a key from the front desk. All in all, it was a great stay and we would definitely stay again when in Ocala."
"I’m so glad we stayed here! Everything was super clean and the beds, pillows and linens were very comfortable. Staff was friendly and accommodating and it was exactly what we needed and wanted. I didn’t realize how close this hotel is to everything-it’s only about a mile from SR 200 which has tons of restaurants and stores. "
