Angel Street, Petworth, West Sussex, United Kingdom
"Our two-night stay began with an unplanned change of room, but it was handled swiftly and satisfactorily: an indication of the friendly and welcoming customer service. The ‘new’ room (Scots Pine) was very plush, comfortable, warm and well-equipped, with lots of nice touches. The breakfast (included) was generous and delicious, with a menu for all appetites. Dinner at the Inn was so good and reasonable, we also ate there the second night. (The burger and the venison pie are highly recommended!) It’s worth trying their bottle of English-produced Nyetimber, too. All in all, the Angel Inn lived up to expectations and provided a luxurious stay in Petworth. And with the impressive National Trust Petworth House and grounds just minutes away on foot, it was a great base for a relaxing escape."
"We stayed here for 3 nights for a wedding, as a party of 6. Very nicely appointed property, we loved many features; the Neptune fitted kitchen, well stocked with cutlery and pans, good decor throughout, comfy beds, lots of space to spread out and relax. Good base for enjoying the local area, and Petworth is a nice little town to browse around. The rental cost was quite high by our standards, but overall a very enjoyable stay- We also had a first class evening meal at the Angel, and would happily stay in the pub next time we visit the area"
"My wife, my small dog and I are just back from a short stay in this hotel. My abiding memory is of the friendliness of the staff. I hope this does not sound negative; we are already planning to visit again next year. The room was great too, and my wife and I enjoyed the food too."

"What a great place to stay, food was great and bar staff friendly. Josh was so helpful and polite. It was convenient for long walks on the Downs and the small antique shops. Will be staying again and hopefully for longer."
"Had a brilliant time there. Owners and staff really friendly, warm and really go out of their way to make your stay extra special. A lovely place to stay: comfortable, clean and food very good. Will definitely go back."

Littehampton Rd, Goring, Worthing, West Sussex, United Kingdom
"Arrived for lunch at The Highdown pre check in. A beautiful majestic looking pub, in a gorgeous setting, gardens, Tea house, and rooms in a separate building. Covid precautions allow a very simple check in, masks worn by all staff and customers. Lunch of fish and chips and a crispy beef salad was perfect.... Tim our waiter was very efficient and welcoming. Room 2 was ready at 3pm, a superior king, it was huge, the bathroom was lovely and big with a seperate bathtub and a monsoon glass walk in shower. A king size bed, tea coffee making facilities and the amount of plug sockets, with USB ports in abundance. No disappointment, its really lovely. However we prefer twin beds, so requested a move, no problem, Tom moved us upstairs to another gorgeous room 14...slightly smaller, twin beds, we were delighted, with no bath tub, good for us, and the huge monsoon shower still. Very large bathroom in both rooms. Spotless chrome fittings and tiles, stunning. The TV's here are large 40 inch Samsung smart TV's... all channels, with catch up TV... If you want it. The beds are really comfortable, crisp clean linen and towels, we requested bathrobes when we booked, and they were provided in our room. The huge breakfast choice is by far the best locally sourced quality...you could wish for..... The food generally here is excellent....remember to book lunch and dinner, it gets rather full because its very popular the food is so good. We have rebooked already. Thanks to all the fabulous staff, especially Nathan, Craig and Tim at dinner service for looking after us. "
"Recently stayed at The Highdown while down south on business. I was recommended by a work colleague and it was wonderful, i honestly cannot rate the hotel enough and it deserves more the 5 stars. Set in beautiful gardens easy to find. Nice warm welcome. Lovely room with all amenities. Lots of plugs which is always useful. Had a great sleep in a very comfortable bed. Nice bathroom with great shower. Also good tea and coffee and buscuits. They even have a small residents lounge with a decanter of whisky free of charge. The breakfast in a lovely room is as good as anywhere i have ever been. The hotel is also great value. A hidden gem and i look forward already to my next stay. Communication also very good and efficient."
"We stayed at The Highdown for two nights and were very impressed. We had a beautiful suite with a lounge, bedroom and huge bathroom. The decor was very cosy, the bed comfortable, the curtains were dark and you could control the heating. We ate breakfast there and had two evening meals, all of which were excellent. The staff seemed to enjoy their work, always smiling, very friendly and willing to make sure everything was just so. We will definitely plan another visit."

"We spent an amazing overnight stay in preparation for a wedding. Our daughter, the bride, stayed too and the staff were wonderful. So accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant area the night before and the food was delicious and plentiful. I had a tasty fish pie and my partner the chicken snitzel. The bride to be had a selection of starters which were prepared and cooked and we delivered to her room. All Covid safety precautions were in place. We had the wedding reception here after the service for a party of 7 on 2x tables in a lovely private area curtained off. The food was thoroughly enjoyed by all and cost was very competitive. We totally recommend this hotel."
"Visited the area for a very much needed weekend break (due to Covid, we haven't been away very much this year). We did a bit of research re other hotels and restaurants but we liked the look of this hotel. We certainly were not disappointed. Great pub, fab clean and comfy rooms, kingsize bed, tea pigs and coffee making facilities in the room - fresh milk. We booked for evening dinner too which was just fantastic - food was amazing and so was the breakfast. The hotel is nicely situated within walking distance of all the lovely shops. Arundel castle is a must too but you need to pre-book on line."
"This will probably only affect the 1st floor rooms (we stayed in the Harting room) but you can hear the music, especially the bass, quite clearly. This goes on until about 23:30 and starts again at 07:30. I know this is a pub with rooms, but if you are a light sleeper you have no chance. You also can't open the windows, so the room is really warm by morning. The room itself was described as small double, which is doing itself a disservice, really quite large. Nice bathroom and big bed (two single pushed together). The location is great, right in the heart of Arundel, but no parking at the Swan itself, you have to pay at a car park a short walk away. You can pay on the RingGo app, but the car park itself doesn't tell you this, we found out from the hotel info. book in the room. Overall, nice place, but let down by the constant music. "

"Stayed here for one night on business, at a very reasonable rate. First impressions are not great as you enter, it all looks a bit old and tired, with the bar and breakfast areas rather uninspiring; however all the staff were pleasant and welcoming. A fairly new lift takes you to the rooms where the theme continues - a large room with most things you'd need, but rather old and tired furniture and uninspiring decor. The the room was clean and well prepared and the bed comfortable enough, but the TV seemed to not have any Freeview channels, and the shower was an old over bath job that liked to swing between scalding hot and cold with no warning. There was a reasonable choice for breakfast, although I felt the Full English had a 'kept hot' feel - adequate but not great. If you pay a good rate and don;t expect to much the hotel is probably fine, but I think there are better ones in Worthing."
"Lovely welcome and a good table by the front window, ideal for the Birthday girl to do a spot of people watching! The tea arrived, a lovely brew. The Prosecco was dry whilst fruity, a welcome glass of bubbles. Then the tea arrived, a beautiful selection of sandwiches (the relish with the cheese was divine), together with a delightful selection of cakes - the carrot cake being the best I've ever tasted. Attentive service and with what we are certain were smiles hidden beneath the face masks! Overall a truly lovely experience. Thank you."
"Had an evening meal at the Burlington and food and service was excellent. Very professional and efficient. Staff were friendly and polite. Surprised more people weren't eating there. Will be back I'm the near future."

"Booked into the hotel on the Friday reception staff were very helpful and friendly very quick booking in, the room was very clean and nicely fitted out. The breakfast on Saturday was freshly made to order and had everything you needed. On the Saturday night we had a dinner dance it was very nicely set out and the food was hot and nicely cooked and presented, the singer did a very good job of getting people on to the dance floor and was 1st class. The thing which was surprising was the price’s for the drinks 🍷 coming from up north to the south you think the price’s would be way expensive but for this hotel the price for drinks was cheaper then up north in Lancashire. Would recommend this hotel for a break the staff are very helpful and friendly. "
"What a fantastic hotel with incredible staff, they catered for approximately 40 people at a fancy dress party and even participated in the antics that took place during the evening whilst continuing to perform their duties serving us a 3 course meal, which was excellent. We will be returning next year for another fun weekend"
"Extremely accommodating and friendly staff, who were always helpful and attentive to our needs. Top marks on service! The hotel itself had excellent facilities (the rooms were always warm). Thanks to the team for making our event run smoothly. We would certainly return in the future!"
