I didn't book the old hall, but this one is really good. The cleanliness and comfort of the room is my most important. The decoration is red classical style. There is a wedding atmosphere under the floor.

I discovered this hidden gem by accident. I had almost given up on finding a hotel that was close enough to the airport as well as to local shopping and had ac. There are only two things I have a problem with in regards to this place. Please note there is not an elevator or lift as the UK states. The other draw back is there is no way to shield the light in the bathroom area. It is hard to describe. There is a beautiful glass door to the right and left in the bath area with a sink in the middle of the space. If one has to get up to use the facilities the light being turned on glares in the face of the other one in bed. One other note is to be careful when closing the glass door. When I closed the door, my finger got closed in the door and it actually cut my finger below the cuticle. After 3 days, my finger is blue and sore. While the hotel is directly under the local airport's flight pattern, we never heard planes unless we were outside. The grounds are astounding as is the building itself. Make sure to check out the artwork throughout the place. If you like hidden staircases, watch out. The place appears to be kid friendly. There is a fabulous playground adjacent to the property. Make sure to purchase duck food for the locals. The bar, while somewhat limited in its offerings, was suitable for us. As to cost, the prices were comparable if not better than other bars/pubs we have visited.. We did not dine in the restaurant, but from what I say, the food looked amazing. The young man working reception was so very nice to help with our luggage as well as anything else we may have needed. The young ladies working in the bar were also very nice. In fact, they were so embarrassed by my asking to take their photo. They said no one had ever asked to take their photo.

Having chose this hotel as its proximity to Manchester Airport we thought it would very nice. How wrong we were. We humped our bags into reception after a 10 hour flight watched by a lady sat on a stool in reception. A gentleman came from bar and assisted with our luggage and left it outside the room and left. Very odd We went to our room which must have been the last let one, probably sold a month ago, it was 9-10pm window was open with cobwebs and dust on, but as were were so tired from travelling we went straight to sleep. There was a plug in smelly in the plug next to the bed which I turned off, and realised why it was there when we were woken next morning. The damp musty smell was vile. Whilst trying to sleep there are three lights around the room, flashing in the dark (The air con, The TV and what looked like the heat/smoke detector) very off putting when you are trying to get to sleep At 6.30am the next morning we were abruptly woken by delivery vehicles backing up against our window with it reverse beepers on ! We were right next to the kitchen/cafe. The window was frosted and now we know why !! As we were woken we went for breakfast and walked into a restaurant with 3 business men having an appraisal at the breakfast table - This is not a meeting room but a restaurant and very poor We also notice the chef wearing normal clothes (Polo shirt and trousers) and not chefs whites, why ? in an open kitchen. The buffet was very meagre flies in the juices and flowers which we had to tell the staff, the music was unbearable loud and I am partially deaf, and asked the staff to turn it down. The cooked breakfast arrived, greasy and pretty inedible, we left as there was not staff in the restaurant We had to climb over laundry bags to get to our room, we then checked out and were not even given a bill We were clearly very disappointed and thought about it and thought we would e mail the hotel for a managers details, they duly gave us the details, and we e mailed that person, who has not even responded. hence the review. Hotels cannot be run like this otherwise it will just close - please take with your paying guests.

An excellent stay in Buxton. We had a room in the grounds. We loved the attention to detail in how the room had been set up. Very comfortable with room to relax in the room, at a sheltered table on a small covered verandah, or outside. Very clean. We enjoyed a superb breakfast with fresh fruit and a great cooked veggie breakfast, with my GF diet no problem. A 15-minute walk downhill into the centre of Buxton. Would highly recommend.

Great friendly hosts who were only too happy to advise on local area. Clean and tidy room in historic setting although it was a bit small and so was the shower room. Great breakfast and hosts were happy to cater for our gluten free menu. Lovely old town and area to explore.

Reviews From Real Travelers
The room I was in was in a great area and was only a 20 minuet walk to the shops (a Sainsburys and M&S), the rooms were really tidy and there was someone who came in to make the beds and do a small tidy of the rooms each day. There was loads of places to eat within walking distance, as well as a onsite Starbucks and restaurant. The gym facilities were great with a pool and jacuzzi too. All the staff have been wonderful and friendly, and have been helpful with all the questions I've had. Would defiantly stay here again.

Love the team handling concierge services - casual yet respectful and genuinely concerned with your welfare. Spacious room with a killer bed and extremely comfortable furnishing. I was experiencing vertigo and had thrown up for a few times prior to check out and the reception allowed me to continue resting until I felt well enough to check out. Really appreciate such a kind gesture. I’ll definitely choose to stay at this hotel again when I’m in Manchester.
