Reviews From Real Travelers
The service at this hotel was outstanding, I was really made to feel special. The building is beautiful, especially the marble staircase and terrace overlooking the sea. My room was very tastefully and luxuriously decorated, it didn’t have a view, but the price was commensurate for that. Overall the hotel gives an experience of mid tier luxury (not very very top level ala Bulgari hotel, but definitely premium). My biggest complaint is with regards to the gym and spa. The gym is ok, if small, has a squat rack which is great. But there is no locker room or changing area next to it! Any other five star hotel I’ve been to would have a luxurious locker room with a sauna and hot tub etc. Here there wasn’t even a place to change! I had to go back to my room and change into my gym gear the first time I went. Then there is the ‘spa’. Some hot tubs, relaxation areas and a sauna. Very nice, but a €25 EXTRA for guests!! What kind of a luxury hotel charges extra for use of the sauna?! Aside from this, I very much enjoyed my stay and would certainly stay here again.

It is a five-star hotel with excellent quality. Everything is very good, but it is a little bit of a fly in the ointment if it is far from a luxury resort hotel. The windows of the rooms I booked for nearly 3,000 yuan face the interior of the building, and about half of the rooms face this way. , it would be better if the interior set had some thought. Swimming pool is okay. The location is good.

The English at the front desk is not particularly good. The buffet dinner is more cost-effective than the surrounding Italian restaurants. The daughter is 15 years old and counts as a child. In the hotel you can see the Mediterranean Sea. The hotel pool is very iced. It is recommended to put some towels next to the hotel. The night view around the hotel is beautiful, and there is a very meaningful museum.

The facilities are generally the same, the relatively old hotel, the service staff is relatively small, but there is a large balcony, can look at the sea, not bad, the room is as small as most hotels in Europe, no surprises and no disappointment.

We really enjoyed the location of the hotel on the hill above the old town, next to the castle. It is a steep walk down/up the path and it takes about 15 mins but we enjoyed the challenge a few times - the other times (when we’d eaten too much at dinner), we got a taxi back up for about €7! The number 35 bus also stops at the hotel. The path is lit at night so doable then too. There’s plenty of parking at the hotel and this is free. Our room was nice - comfortable and spacious with a sun-trap balcony with chairs and sun loungers. The bathroom is a bit dated in places, but well maintained and clean. Breakfast was good - the buffet had a decent amount of choice, plus there was a small menu of hot items.

The hotel is on a hill with a superb view, next to a viewing platform and a Moorish castle converted from an ancient Roman fortress. Free parking, breakfast is small but exquisite. Basically, the hotel can not go down the mountain to play, the fly in the ointment is that there is no free water, it is best to buy first in the mountains, of course, if you have plenty of time, you can take a walk to the mountain to buy. In short, I think the hotel is great. The mountain is the expensive hotel.

Sol Principe was just PERFECT From the moment we arrived at the hotel Sol Principe everything was perfect. Staff greeted us with smiles on their faces, room was just perfect with all the extras including a full stocked mini bar/coffee machine/ x2 TV’s/Robes/flipflops/towels/beach towels & ECO products. All-inclusive drinks were amazing including the cocktails and champagne. All food was out-of-this-world EVERY meal time. I couldn’t and didn’t want for anymore. The grounds were kept lovely as we sunbathed most days – out of season for the outside pools but this didn’t matter as the inside pool was warm and clean. Every member of staff was very helpful – especially Cristian in the food hall - she was AMAZING - only problem was we had to go home - but we will be back soon

We spent 3 nights at this hotel. I booked through last minute.com. It is a big hotel and I thought it would be quiet during the winter season, but not. It was so busy, full with Spanish pensioners, footballers and tourists from mainly UK and Germany. The room was basic and more like 3* hotel and defo not 4*. Just 2 glasses and one chair, old telephone, no kettle and coffee/tea essentials, not spakley clean, however towels changed every day and room cleaned every morning. The staff were very helpful. The restaurant was the busiest area, sometimes chaotic, however the staff were very quick cleaning the tables. Food was average, there were a few bits we liked, the rest was soggy, not tasty and not that delicious we expected from a Spanish food. We managed to get enough and not being hungry, but defo could be much better. The pools have been closed, so don’t expect to have a soak in. All and all we got what we paid for given the point that not many hotels were open in area during this time of the year. It was a bargain deal , so we are happy at the end.

stayed for 5 days, cant beat the location. walkable to every point of interest in the historic center. The hotel is designed like a ship so it feels kind of tight inside the hallways and elevator is tiny. Nevertheless, the room design was modern, comfortable and ecofriendly. Cleaning staff does an excellent job. Amazing view from rooftop and food at the restaurant up there was good. NOTE for business travels, or anyone needing to use wifi. Their WIFI is NOT GOOD, it did not work in our room unless we stood close to the door our outside in the wall and common areas. Not helpful when you need to work or use your phone in the privacy of your room. We spoke to staff about it and they were not much help, it is what it is. They say 'you can use the internet in the common area' Okay.. Breakfast buffet is expensive so not really worth it. Doorman will continually ask you if you're staying there, even after seeing you every day lol- guess that's their job. ALSO not friendly for anyone with disabilities or mobility issues, there's no ramp at the front, you have to lift your luggage up the steps. meh

Hotel with a great location and a rooftop bar and pool that can’t be beat. definitely, a wonderful view that was 360° on the rooftop. We had considered doing a tour of the adjacent cathedral, but when we went to the rooftop we were looking down on the tour. Local shopping was close by many options.Service was impeccable. I like the special touch of having a doorman always present to open the door for you when coming and going.

My husband and I came to Malaga for a week, and chose Room Mate Valeria after being won over by the pictures of the brightly coloured rooms and good reviews, we made the best choice! Our room was perfect! The bed was sooo comfy, we had a wonderful little outside balcony to take in the lovely view and the shower and facilities in the room were great. Service when we arrived was amazing the staff are really friendly and accommodating, late check out was a lovely bonus, as is their facility to provide beach towels at no extra cost. We had breakfast twice at the hotel, it was ok for me but my husband who is vegetarian had a limited choice of food to choose from so we decided to eat out after. The other main facility the rooftop bar/swimming pool was nice. We never used the swimming pool and I was quite surprised at how small it was (I think the hotel might have been better off not having a pool and just having a roof top and sun lounging area) but the roof top area was always popular and enjoyable. It’s nice that priority is given to hotel guests too. If you don’t want to go to a nightclub but want a late night drink the rooftop is lovely. A nice little touch to an already lovely hotel. Would highly recommend this place.

It’s not often I can’t find even the smallest fault with a hotel but this is one of those rare finds where serious thought has gone into room design. Comfort is a priority, bed and pillows divine, beautiful view from the balcony, mini bar and even a light that illuminated when you open the wardrobe. The bathroom was quite small but easily the best shower in any hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The roof top bar is amazing, comfy sunbeds and a cold mini pool to cool off. The views are spectacular. We didn’t have breakfast so I can’t comment but everything else was perfect. Ps please can we have a box of tissues in the room? I know I’m being ultra picky but…..!!!

The location is nice. The room was spacious and the bathroom was also pleasant. The parking garage is very small and it was a shame that the bar and restaurant were closed.

Nice hotqel in good location, close to the railway station from Malaga Airport which is a no brainer of a way to get to Fuengirola. Our room was of good size with a massive comfortable bed and air-conditioning, two things which let it down was the dated bathroom with a shower in a bath which was a challenge getting in and out, also the balcony, even though it had a really good sea view, once you sat down it had a solid wall around it so you had no view at all other than the walls. Staff very obliging and nice bar area on the ground floor, if you like a pool holiday the pool area is very small with limited sun beds.

Lovely hotel. Bedrooms and communal areas were bright, airy and well decorated. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Hotel was well positioned on the Paseo Maritimo and close to Los Boliches, a few minutes from the station (where you can get a train straight into the airport). Food was good (perhaps there could have been a wider selection of mains).
