The service is very good, the front desk is also very good when changing the room, the room is very new, the structure is very comfortable, and the decoration design is reasonable. The macarons of the evening service are also delicious.

Slow unmotivated Service with an attitude. Long time to wait to order and a long time to receive the drinks, just after complaining.....and the attitude came from the ”Chef de Service”. This was our second time in that bar and our last time. $.......................... Nothing else to add.................

Large stately hotel. the hotel also has residences which means less hotel guests and traffic (in a good way). i generally look for hotels with pools and saunas attached and the pool area has was beautiful was outdoor patio with view of alps and lakes. Lockers, robes and slippers provided. i had room #205 which had peekaboo view of lake and mainly a rooftop, I suspect City View rooms would be noisy with busy road in front. book lake view if possible. the front staff was lovely and very helpful. They were very accommodating in trying to sort out my room. I could have been made to move after the 1st night but to their credit - saw it was easier to keep me in the same room. restaurant and bar with outdoor seating looking out towards lake and promenade. Heavenly!

This hotel is very impressive. The view across the lake to Mt. Pilatus was spectacular. The hotel staff were so welcoming and hospitable...making our stay such an enjoyable experience. The room was spacious, bed comfortable and bathroom huge. Breakfast was an enormous buffet as well as ”a la cart”... Walking was very convenient and major railway easy to get to on foot and easy to navigate. The lake, Mt. Pilatus, the cog railway to and from and the trip to Zermatt easy to navigate. A side trip to Appenzelle with friends was a dream.

My husband and I stayed at this very pleasant hotel for 5 nights. Our quiet room faced the river, with lovely views. Our bed was comfortable, and we enjoyed getting chocolates every night. Convenient to the train station as well as the Old Town and shopping districts. The front desk staff greeted us warmly upon arrival and was available to answer questions throughout our stay. Our bathroom included L’Occitaine bath products and a tub as well as an enclosed shower. I found the shower somewhat claustrophobic, but my husband liked it.

I recoment room 308. Fantastic look over to the Jesuitchurch and the bridges to each side. A little balcony where you can sit and have a drink. The Hotel des Balances is in located the middle of the old town. Just Perfect.

We stayed here for 2 nights in Lucerne. A great choice! I had communicated with the hotel via email in advance, and they were very responsive. NOTE: The hotel is located in an area that is a no-car-zone. The website states you can be dropped off, but our driver would not do it, so we ended up schlepping our luggage several blocks over cobblestones. When we arrived around 11am on a Wednesday our rooms were ready (thankfully!) so we were able to take the luggage up, freshen up a bit and head out to find lunch. The hotel is located literally 1/2 block up from the river. A perfect location near all the restaurants on the riverside with a view and tables outside. You can easily walk from the hotel to the train station, both famous bridges, and shops all over old town. We booked a Superior Double Room on the 4th floor. There is an elevator. The room had a king bed, a desk with chair, and another comfy chair. We had a corner room, so plenty of windows. The bathroom is tiny! Decent closet with a safe and a small fridge with free water and a few creamers. There is NO air conditioning, but we were able to open the windows for a fairly good cross-breeze, and the overhead fan is efficient and quiet. There is street noise until about 10 - 11pm. We could hear the restaurants putting the tables/chairs up for the night, but after that slept quite well. When we had the windows closed there was minimal noise. Bed was comfy. Like many European hotels, they don't have a top sheet - only a comforter. (too hot for warmer weather with no a/c). I suggest using the blanket from the closet, or asking for another sheet if that would be a problem. The restaurant attached to the hotel is Italian. The pizza and salad were great! And good wine and beer choices. A bit expensive (as is everything in Switzerland), but filling and tasty (and convenient). The breakfast is at a nearby hotel and was very good. It is not included, but had a great menu and good coffee. Staff was friendly and helpful! We would definitely stay here again.

This very nice hotel has a perfect location. In the old town only a few walks away from the river, where you have lots of beautiful ancient buildings and lots of good restaurants. Also lots of shopping possibilities. The bed is very comfortable and large. I am a bad sleeper, but in this bed I slept like a rose. What you need to know is that the reception sends you an email with a code, so you can check-in into your room when there is nobody at the reception desk. Unfortunately we had not seen this email because we have no roaming and had switched off our mobile phones. Luckily, we found someone from the staff in the building and they helped us to the room. Tip: I don't know if this email can be sent a day earlier to the guests? Then we would have read it when we were in Italy where we do have roaming. Other than that very nice and quiet stay. I forgot my earrings, and the staff made sure they were sent to my homeland. I even received chocolates with the letter! Therefore many thanks and a rating of 5 stars for this hotel.

The location is very good, 10 minutes walk from the train station, the room is soundproof, the room size of the superior room is also available, there is a Chase balcony. Hotel breakfast 40 francs is a bit expensive, but there are many varieties, croissants are soft and delicious, there are 4-5 kinds of cheese, you can also squeeze a variety of juices, vegetable juices, smoked salmon tastes very good. At the front desk, the restaurant service is very good. Swiss prices are 20% higher than France, and stayed for two nights, very good. The surroundings are very safe and the meals are very convenient.

Denise & Donal

We stayed at the Hermitage and it was a perfect choice for us. The hotel is away from the city center but the bus stop that takes you there is in front of the hotel entrance and you get to the city center in 15 mins tops. But staying here you get the most perfect unobstructed views to enjoy, and not even pedestrians walking in front of the hotel. It was just perfect. The room was clean and service was great. We would go back to this same hotel if we were to visit Luzern a second time.

Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous location. Super friendly staff and thanks to all those who looked after us including Roger who served our very special dinner overlooking the lake. This is a very special hotel that you come across rarely with the right balance of slick service and warm welcome so you feel at home but still like you are in an incredibly luxurious environment.

This hotel was rated 4 out of 5 stars on TA. I respectfully disagree! First, I'll share the positives.... the rooms were updated with laminate flooring, fixtures and colors. The breakfast was pretty decent with a nice selection of fruits, breads, juices and cereals and 2 hot items. For $225 per night, I had higher expectations. Now, my issues..... - From entering the building I got the feeling of a Hostel, not a hotel. The fact that there was a Hospitality Mgmt school to the right as you enter the building and the hotel to the left, made me a bit concerned. There were no barriers or locks between the 2 entities at any level. At one point, I had to walk around (a very RUDE) school employee to get our luggage up some steps by the school as she sat there and never moved away from the entry door to the Hotel side! - Front desk personnel was very direct and not exactly friendly (although she did help with my parking). There is NO ONE at the desk from ~19:00 through the morning. No one to contact if needed!! - THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING IN THE ROOMS! You get one 3-level fan for circulation. It was 85 F during the day, which made it hot at night. Windows opened, but no screens. Very uncomfortable and not expected for a room of this price. - I booked a 3-bed room which was very tight for 3 people. Basically 3 twin beds and a bathroom (shower only) - The lock on the room door is UNSAFE! There is no regular locking door knob, You have to use the key to lock if from the inside and/or the outside. I needed to run to the car and wanted to lock the door as I left; I had to lock my family into the room in order to take the key, which was needed to enter the hotel front door, too. - I stopped at the front desk to get ice after check in and they responded that there was none. - The WI-FI WAS BAD!! It was constantly dropping the devices. Had to regularly ”forget” the network and re-registering for the Wi-Fi. - The shower head was a hand-held mounted on a vertical pole. The bracket that held the shower head would not stay in place and kept sliding down the pole.... made for a frustrating shower. - There is NO space to sit outside of this hotel. We had a 1st floor room with no balcony. The only space was a patio that was designated as a student smoking area (which happened to be right next to our room!!!) - Parking - Only 5 spaces behind the building; beyond that, not sure where to park. We were lucky to get a space, but the gate to get to the parking area is locked when the front desk person leaves, so had to walk 10 minutes around the block to get to my car in the evening. - There was a motion activated light in the area outside of our room window that continually lit up at night. I wasn't sure if there was someone out there or what was setting it off??? I would NOT recommend this hotel to my friends.

Be sure to live in a room with a balcony next to the river. The scenery outside the window is impeccable and beautiful. The old lady at the front desk was very enthusiastic and introduced Lucerne's attractions and how to play for a long time. The hotel is relatively small, but the environment and sanitation are ok, and it is very warm. It takes only about ten minutes to walk from the train station.

My wife and I stayed for three nights at this charming hotel in mid May. Situated about 10-15 walk from the town centre and facing the lake it was a delight to stay in. The staff were all very professional and helpful and they all made us feel welcomed every time we bumped into one of them. Our room faced the lake and had a small balcony which was great to have a glass of wine and watch traffic go by. The promenade out by the lake was a perfect way to walk and relax and enjoy the area. The hotel was very clean and any question I had was always promptly answered. We enjoyed our stay so much we would have stayed another night if we could have cancelled our travel plans for the day we had to leave. Overall a great place to stay!

We spent one day in Lucerne on our way from Germany to our holiday in Italy and the Beau Sejour was the perfect place for this short stop. The hotel is only a short - and beautiful along the lake shore - walk away from the city Center and offers parking in a nearby garage (needs to be booked separately). We had a nice room with a lake view - the room was also rather quiet during the night although there was a street directly between the lake and the hotel. Breakfast was great with eg a nice selection of Swiss cheeses and various juices etc. Staff was super nice and cheerful, so overall this stay provided a great start for our trip.
