"On 24th October 2020 my fiancé and I attended the spa at Mar Hall Hotel having purchased the ‘Time Out’ package for a special occasion & well deserved treat during these unprecedented times as we had a very rare weekend off together. To we say we are disappointed with our experience is an understatement. Our appointment was for 11.15am & we were a couple of minutes late due to tour sat nav taking us to a wrong entrance of the building. Upon arrival we apologies for being very slightly late. The staff seemed to be confused and flustered & asked us if the booking was for 11am. I advised no our booking was for 11.15am (we arrived at 11.18am). Whilst having our temperatures taken & completing our consultation forms we overheard the staff talking and there seemed to be some confusion as to who was carrying out each of our treatments - we had specifically booked for treatments simultaneously and spoke in detail about this over the telephone prior to our visit. This came across as though the staff had not pre-planned for our visit and was all very unorganised. This in turn left us to feel awkward and flustered ourselves. Not an ideal first impression. As we were seated completing our covid forms we were further approached by a staff member holding a card machine asking for payment and simultaneously another staff member asking us to confirm our lunch choices and time. Again this was all very confusing and we felt very put out and on the spot. Furthermore we were given no clarification of what the soup that day was or the sandwich choices on offer. It came across that taking our payment was the priority. Not the best start to a what was supposed to be a relaxing day. We were then taken to our treatment rooms after getting changed (by this time it was now around 11.35am) and only at this point were my partner and I advised in our rooms by each of our therapists that there would not be time for a full body massage. Bearing in mind we were only 3 minutes late and our full payment had already been taken without any indication of a reduced treatment, I was not overly concerned at this point thinking maybe a couple of minutes would be deducted. However I was then rushed through the fastest “full body massage” I have ever received and was genuinely shocked when the therapist advised the treatment was over. After the therapist left the room I checked the time and it was 12.05pm. To clarify we were given less than half an hour treatment time for a full body massage. Regardless of being a couple of minutes late and consultation time this was by no means a 55 minute treatment. We were then taken to the “relaxation room” by which time we were so dismayed by the whole experience & felt so uncomfortable we chose not to use the facilities and went get ready for lunch. When we went to the “spa cafe” (which was a couple of seats and tables at the rear of the corridor) for our pre-booked lunch there was no one around and again we were unsure of the protocol result"
"Stayed here on Friday 13th for one night with my mum for her birthday. When I first booked I was put through to Craig on reception who was really helpful. Once the booking was made he helped with reserving a time for swimming and booking afternoon tea. On Arrival we were greeted by Nadia who had a lovely warm smile. First we had Afternoon tea which was so tasty, the scones been the best part! Wish I could of had more scones. Room was ready early which meant we could get changed in our room prior to swimming. We had a deluxe twin which was very spacious and clean. An added bonus was the Happy Birthday chocolates for my mum. Unfortunately we didn’t dine in the restaurant for dinner. Breakfast the following morning was excellent service and a varied choice. Best breakfast I have had in a long time. Considering the tough times we’re enduring everyone at Mar hall from reception staff, spa staff & waiting staff who we dealt with were all exceptional and professional In making sure everyone had a comfortable stay. Look forward to returning very soon! X"
"We are just back from Mar Hall and it was great! The deluxe room was spacious and cosy, our bed was so comfortable. We had originally booked an overnight which included dinner in the Cristal Restaurant and not long before our overnight we received a call to say this restaurant would be closed, I asked if we could change to a Spacation Stay and Victoria at reception sorted this out for us straight away which meant we were able to enjoy lovely treatments, we really appreciated this being done for us at short notice and thought it was very kind of the staff to accommodate this. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly which really does make a difference when you are staying somewhere. Despite all the restrictions, it didn’t put a dampener on our stay at all and I can’t recommend Mar Hall enough, we will definitely be going back every year!"

"My husband and I had a lovely stay in September for 3 nights - a little break since our holidays had been cancelled due to COVID. We stayed in a junior suite, split level with separate lounge/tv area (there was a second tv in the actual bedroom). The hotel is lovely and the spa was great. The food was fabulous and would return again even just for a meal it was that good! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and really have to praise the staff who really went above and beyond to make our stay so enjoyable. From the reception, housekeeping, bar and restaurant staff to the lovely spa and golf team - the service was amazing and we would happily have another short break at Gleddoch again, hopefully soon! Given the current circumstances and restrictions imposed due to COVID, I felt very safe throughout our stay and everyone at Gleddoch really worked hard to ensure we were looked after with our safety in mind. Would highly recommend a visit and can’t wait to come back,"
"What a lovely place this is! My three friends and I had a weekend there and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a large twin room (two double beds) and a Junior suite, which had seating enough for the four of us to have pre dinner drinks. The staff were very helpful and friendly, even when under the beginnings of the stresses related to the Coronavirus crisis. The dining room on the first morning was in a bit of disarray but it was fine the next day as they got into a different routine of not having self service. The evening meals were lovely on both occasions; my friend, who doesn't eat meat had enough options to keep her happy. We had our spa treatments - all lovely - and thoroughly enjoyed the pool, steam room etc. although I understand that for the time being these may not be available to guests. We had a lovely view over the Clyde across to Dumbarton from both rooms."
"Stayed here for a romantic getaway with my partner and had a wonderful stay. The treatments were brilliant and breakfast was good also. We had a suite and it was beautifully decorated but the best part was the wonderful view (and the Tunnocks bars in the tea tray. The only negative was that staff were miserable at breakfast and it was a quiet one so they should have made more of an effort with guests."

"Just back from a lovely short break at this hotel. I saw a ‘Circuit Breaker Deal’ advertised on FB and I decided to book it for myself and daughter. We arrived early afternoon and took advantage of their “Eat out Scheme” offer and treated ourselves to afternoon tea £13 for the two of us and all I can say, it would have fed 4!! Absolutely delish! The room was lovely and our stay included a two course dinner and breakfast. The food was really nice and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Fab hotel, myself and daughter felt really relaxed and comfortable as the staff followed very strict guidelines on Covid so no concerns there. Definitely worth a visit 😊"
"Popped to Dalmeny for lunch today, quite embarrassed that we had no idea this little diamond in the woods was basically a 20 minute drive away and we had no idea :). Welcome was lovely, service was great, COVID regulations were absolutely adhered to and location was just perfect .. in fact we liked it so much, hubby booked a room to celebrate my birthday in December ... he’s had enough of me saying ... ‘oh I just want a country hotel, Christmas trees and sparkly lights’... we’re thinking Dalmeny might just fit the bill :)"
"Fabulous hotel. Went for family wedding and everything from the moment we arrived until we left went with clockwork precision. Staff cannot do enough for you. Food was absolutely wonderful from the canapes, wedding meal to the rolls with bacon and sausage later in the evening. To top it off breakfast next day was fantastic all in all thoroughly recommend this hotel and especially in times like these the cleanliness couldn’t be faulted."

"My girlfriend and I booked a 2 night visit, it was our first time visiting Glasgow and the surrounding areas. We were greeted by an extremely friendly receptionist (Chris) the room was immaculate and the safety precautions regarding Covid-19 were fantastic throughout the Hotel and Spa. Chris on reception was excellent, he helped us plan our day visits to the city, talked us through the covid safety precautions, printed local walks, and site seeing routes. he was just a lovely guy to talk to, and excellent at his job. All the staff were friendly, extremely clean and hygienic throughout the premises. The Gym and Swimming Pool area was also spotless the gym had a wide range of apparatus and was not very busy at all. Overall we had a delightful stay, we wish we had booked for a week! Once again many thanks to Chris for all of his help."
"We went to the hotel for lunch on the last day of the Chancellor's generous Eat out scheme. The hotel takes the current situation seriously and there is a temperature check at the door before being allowed entry. There is also a one way system in place. We were shown to our seats and given menus. The choice was excellent so we chose a starter to share and main courses. The food was excellent and presented with style on the plate. the portion size was also good. We decided to share a dessert and it certainly didn't disappoint. Usually when cheesecake is ordered you end up with a slice from a commercially prepared cake. What we got was a pillar of cheesecake on a biscuit base. It was superb and the best I have tasted in a long time. I used to work for a company that made commercial cheesecakes so I tried a few in my time."
"Straight away I’d say this is a beautiful hotel but it’s let down by the fact it’s showing some signs of wear and tear. It was also let down I felt by the fact they put a £20.00 charge on my credit card but there’s no room service or anything so don’t really see the point. Didn’t have the opportunity to eat in the hotel so can’t comment. The pool and hydro pool are fantastic, shame obviously due to COVID-19 you can’t use the sauna and stuff but absolutely no fault of the hotel. The receptionist at the pool was so lovely and friendly. Was confused about the masks policy. Fairly certain the rule is that they should be on if people are walking around but seen plenty without, again this lets the place down a bit. A wee refresh of the fixtures and fittings and a clearer policy on COVID-19 measures would have seen me give a five star review."

"Had an overnight stay with my boyfriend and daughter. We had a standard room with a small cot, but had to bring our own cot bedding which wasn’t an issue. The room was nice and had plenty of space for the 3 of us. Clean at a glance but very dusty upon closer inspection. As we were changing nappies I thought it would be helpful and tie up the bin liners for the housekeepers however they were so thin and cheap they just broke apart when I tried to tie them. The bed was quite uncomfortable and she sheets were so noisy like paper, every time me or my bf moved during the night we were waking each other up. Softer sheets would have been a nice touch. Also wanted to point out that the windows opened wide, why is a hazard when you have a 2 year old in the room, I’ve always thought hotel windows had safely latches. We opted for breakfast and dinner which was ok, although the service was pretty bad. At dinner we waited a while to be asked for drink and our order even though the restaurant was very quiet (only 3 other tables having meals). After the meal it took a long time for anyone to collect our plates and when they did, they did so in silence. Didn’t ask if we wanted dessert, coffee, the bill or if everything was ok with our meals. The service at breakfast was very much the same, and our meals were cold. The faculties are great for children with the soft play area(again wasn’t very clean) but the room it’s in is very cold, so be sure you wrap up when you go in. They had a lovely pool area too which we enjoyed when we arrived and hoped to again the following afternoon. I had just received a massage and was told to enjoy the facilities, so I went and got my daughter and I changed into our swimming things(she was very excited), As we entered the pool are and actually got into the pool we were told to exit by a member of staff who said due to a disturbance from other children and apparently hotel policy(no clear signage saying this) that no children were allowed in the pool area between 12pm-2pm as the leisure members don’t like this. We were taken a back and embarrassed by this, and my daughter became very upset as she didn’t understand why we couldn’t go in. We were paying guests at the hotel so couldn’t understand why were made to feel belittled. We logged a complaint but have yet to hear anything back from the hotel."
"Due to the current Covid restrictions I couldn’t have the 60th birthday celebration I had intended. So I decided to spend an overnight with my husband, two daughters, son in law and 8 month old granddaughter. The Bowfield was an excellent choice. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and it was no bother to switch one of the rooms to one with a bath so my granddaughter could stick to her bedtime routine. We had fun in the pool and had it to ourselves. We had the most delicious meal in the Plumpy Duck Restaurant. The Duck Shepherds Pie is to die for. The following day we had relaxing treatments at the spa. A perfect way to celebrate a special birthday with family in these uncertain times "
"Stopped here for 2 nights for a swim and spa break. Staff were excellent and very attentive, holding doors open and all wearing face masks.. Bill, Pauline & Vivien looked after me with such professionalism, shame I never saw their full faces due to covid-19 regulations but I know they had "happy eyes" and treated me like a king 👑. Spa visited in the afternoon for a 2pm appointment. The comfiest beds I've ever been on for a back massage and so warm too. The whole set up is just mint. And the pool with up to 8 people and then the outdoor jacuzzi was just what I needed afterwards. A lovely lovely visit and I will be back next Month for another pamper and sleep over."

"My husband and I live in Oban and were due to have our first child in October at the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Paisley. Being so far from Paisley we decided to travel down as soon as labour started to the hospital to be assessed and avoid complications. Due to coronavirus the hospital asked us to stay away until we were in active labour to avoid prolonged time at the hospital. To allow us somewhere safe to stay and ease the pains of early labour we decided to book into a hotel. Unfortunately the first hotel we stayed in after our late night trip to the hospital was massively disappointing and left us feeling uneasy, tired and emotional. By this point I had been having contractions for over 24 hours. Early the next morning my husband called the Lynnhurst and explained our situation and that we needed somewhere to chill out for the day and try to relax before labour really ramped up. The person we spoke to could not have been more helpful. They told us to get ourselves straight over and they would have a room ready for us (even though it was only half 10 in the morning). When we arrived our room was absolutely gorgeous, huge and equipped with a nice big bath which definitely helped to manage the pain and alleviate the stress. The staff could not have been more helpful. Everyone we spoke to were exceptionally lovely, whether they knew our situation or not. Early afternoon it was time to go to the hospital and I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at half 10 at night. After I had moved to the ward and it was time to go my husband arrived back to the hotel to even more well wishes from the night porter who had obviously been told our story. This was about 2am, my husband managed to get to sleep and was awoken by a lovely call from reception to say that a complimentary breakfast was awaiting him if he wanted it before he could return to collect us from the hospital. This is one of the nicest hotel experiences I had ever had and left an emotional family very happy. I have stayed in the Bowfield before where we also recieved excellent service and got married in Cornhill Castle so it looks like the Manorview hotel chain is sure to become a firm family favourite. We cannot wait to return with our little girl Isabella to enjoy another fab experience. Thank you so much to everyone who works there, you are doing a brilliant job in a very uncertain time."
"I stayed at the Lynnhurst hotel on Wednesday 26th February overnight prior to a close uncles funeral and I would have to describe my stay as excellent. I arrived after a long journey battling through snowstorms to a warm welcome from friendly and helpful reception staff. Within a few minutes I was checked in and shown to a lovely spacious modern room and booked in for dinner. I had booked the bed breakfast and evening meal offer, dinner was very well presented, delicious and as a solo traveller the staff engaged me in conversation always and I never felt self conscious in a busy restaurant. I had an enjoyable evening with some members of my family coming to visit me, they were well looked after by the evening staff. Breakfast was delicious in front of a log fire before the sad event I was attending and again I was treated so well. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and I shall certainly be staying here again in the future. Thank you for your hospitality at the Lynnhurst."
"Came here for a last lunch with friends before lockdown number 2. From start to finish our afternoon was first class. The discrete COVID precautions made us feel safe and comfortable. The service was attentive without being annoying , thank you Adam, and as for the food - absolutely delicious, especially the chocolate fudge cake. All of these helped create an ambience that we all appreciated and enjoyed, so much so that we have resolved to visit again as soon as restrictions are lifted."

"Overnight stay, dinner, bed & breakfast with my wife. We had to rebook this stay due to Covid, and dealing with Emma on the phone to sort it out was easy. She's lovely. We had stopped in for lunch a few times previously but this was our first stay. Arrived and checked in quickly & without fuss. Up to the room, spotlessly clean & cosy, to drop off our bag before heading down to the bar for a few drinks before dinner. They had already sorted a table for us. The staff were excellent, even having a hunt to find some cocktail ingredients for my wife. The food was delicious. We headed off to bed early and found the bed comfortable. The hotel sits in a little village in some rolling countryside, sleep quality was great. Breakfast this morning was again excellent. We both had full Scottish cooked breakfast and it was delicious. If you're in the area, I'd highly recommend the hotel, either for lunch/dinner, or for an overnight stay. Emma & her staff are all brilliant & doing everything they can to give an excellent customer experience during what must be an extremely challenging time. We had a great stay, and will definitely be back."
"Visited the hotel today to have brunch with friends. We did book just to be sure of a place. Excellent greeting by Derek when we entered the foyer , we were then requested to hand sanitise our hands before entering the dining area of the bar, no problem. Upon entering, we were impressed with the covid security in place. All staff wearing masks, came over 'obtained our details for track and trace and came with menus. Teas and coffees were brought over whilst we perused the menu. We placed our orders, and when they arrived, WOW. French Toast, hot filled breakfast rolls and a full breakfast. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food we ordered and staff were very attentive to any requests for further teas, coffees and waters. By the time we were leaving the place was beginning to busy up, so yeah, glad I booked. We could not fault any aspect of our visit and would highly recommend a visit to you, we'll certainly be returning, ohhhhhhhhhh yes 😋 👍 "
"Highly Recommended !! We had a wonderful evening meal in the hotel restaurant here as part of our Valentine’s Day. I can honestly say the quality of food and service you get here is right up there with dining experiences 3 x times the price !! Staff were the best, most attentive people we’ve had the pleasure of being served by for a long time!! Relaxing with after dinner drinks in the cosy lounge by the big roaring fire was a perfect end to a great evening. Only 1 small thing could have made it any better....(due to no signal on our phones) and that would have been a WiFi that worked for us? Neither of our phones could connect for some reason, so trying to comms with our daughter wasn’t easy. Anyway a big Thank you Uplawmoor Hotel and be assured “we’ll definitely be back”!! "

"We booked here for my sisters hen party and my 40th celebrations on the Saturday 22nd feb. They hotel staff were great when group booking and any queries I had were answered by phone or email very quickly. 29 women were booked in and around half had booked to stay the night. Brilliant booking in system, quick and efficient for the single, double/twin rooms. All rooms from what everyone has said were lovely and also very clean. The tribute night meal was lovely, maybe some extra sauce for the chicken but suppose that’s my preference. The act itself were brilliant, got quite hot 🥵 whilst up dancing. Fantastic night!! The beds, everyone of us had a fantastic sleep and need to know where you got these magic beds from please! Breakfast the next morning, plenty of choice for everyone and what we all had was delicious. We would all definitely come to stay here again, brilliant value for money. The staff throughout were very friendly day/night. A few used some of the spa facilities too, I would next time too instead of finding Glasgow’s local Wetherspoons!"
"Everyone at the hotel was amazing. EVERYONE. Kind, courteous, and human. That was my favourite part of the trip. I had everything I needed, and everything I asked for was provided. I just prefer experiences with human beings, and not robotic "Yes, sir. Right away sir. Is everything to your satisfaction sir?" I was treated with respect, and felt like a guest in a friends home, than a soulless building I slept in. I hope this makes sense. Everyone was professional, but in a very warm and welcoming way, not a sterile modern hotel. Anyway, if you need to feel superior, go stay in a Hilton, Weston, or Trump hotel. If you want to feel warm and welcome, stay here."
"I recently attended a funeral tea at the Glynhill hotel on the 7th February 2020 and I have to say the service on the day was exceptional. This was a very sad time for myself and my family but the ladies who looked after us Heather & Lynette were professional and attentive the whole time - thank you ladies for your support on what was a difficult day. "Great location. Friendly staff, nice rooms. All in all, excellent It’s only a few minutes walk into town from the hotel. I didn’t eat at the hotel as I was only there for one night and wanted to venture out. Though the menu looked very good. Only slight complaint was the room was a little chilly. The radiator was behind the thick curtains under the bay window. So the heat escaped through the windows and not into the room. But then, that’s totally normal in a building of this age Another big bonus was free parking, plenty of it and so close to the town. Definitely recommend staying here"
"What a delightful warm & friendly hotel. We booked the hotel for after funeral lunch, everything was home made, the soup, sandwiches, victoria sponge cake and cream scones, everything was delicious. All staff were friendly and made everyone feel welcome. The decor ; traditional Scottish rugs, comfy leather seating with cosy fire. I would highly recommend this hotel without any hesitation and will definitely return. "
